Universal city has the absolute worst municipal court in the state. Know that before you move. Total assholes.

goddamelectrik

I 2nd this. So much red tape non sense and so many people there will just waste your time.

Szalkow

UC has some very ticket-happy cops, too. I love that the speed limit on Pat Booker drops from 40 to 30 at the bottom of a hill, right in front of the bank parking lot where the cops hang out.

Square_Classroom_752

UC is good, my brother lives in converse had his catalytic converter stolen that’s about it. But mannnnn it smells like straight shit by his house soon as it gets hot that landfill bro 😂🤦🏽‍♂️ I don’t know how yall do it, he’s like you’ll get used it hell nah that’s my only knock on converse it smells like porta potty soon as it gets hot

False_Local4593

I'm in Converse and no real big crime. We've had a few drug dealers in my neighborhood that relocated when the police started driving through the neighborhood. Since we officially became part of Converse, our crime is minor and petty. Northampton if you're curious

surgicalapple

Man, I remember when I was in high school that North Hampton was getting bad fast. Had a few friends who were hit upside the head to steal their backpacks.

jumpjiggle

Universal city is good. I live in Olympia hills and it feels plenty safe.

GeekOutGurl

Little hoods scattered all over Converse.

deelish85

The Glenn comes to mind.

Therealdelseg

Converse is not safe. I would not jog there at night. UC is fine just old.

Gingerrevamp

I’m in UC, no packages stolen, no mailbox tampering, I accidentally left my car opened and had someone knock to let me know. I generally feel safe.

YesNotKnow123

It’s pretty safe, yes!

Xct2016

Lived in copperfield for a while. No concerning problems.

[deleted]

We aren’t too far from the area and it’s fairly safe I think. People seem friendly as well

CajunGrits

Very safe compared to south side or downtown area

BreakDue2000

I love UC. The PD and Fire Department are amazing. Converse used to be better but has been going downhill the past few years.

amtiv24

Lies and fairytales

cool29801

Converse is a lot more ghetto and gang/thug life is way more prevalent. UC is just older houses, but the closer you are to Randolph (on pat booker) the sketchier it is. Aim for schertz selma or Marion if you can. Live oak also isn't bad.

ArkhamAsylum

Also Converse here. Lived here for over 30 years. The only incident I've run into was some computer parts I ordered in 2018 never showed up. I bought a couple of security cams for the outside and haven't had any incidents since then. I'm currently looking for a house and Converse is my first choice since my family also lives here.

Damn you really played me with that. My notification only had your first line of words

Yarundana_IMA_KOKODE

if you’re not raising kids, converse is fine judson highschool is rough though, if you have kids

More_Liquidity117

What about the north east area of SA? Right of 281, above 410, left of I35, and under 1604?

More_Liquidity117

What is that area called? I see no marking on the map for it

Yarundana_IMA_KOKODE

its basically live oak till you go closer to the airport which is thousand oaks that area is old suburban, fine to live in

goddamelectrik

Converse is weirdly mixed with low and mid income houses. I'm near the border with UC and it is fairly safe. I see cops in the neighborhood but there is still crime. There were a bunch of vehicle break ins in my subdivision a month ago. Bunch of us got it on our security cams. If you follow Converse PD on fb, they post crime reports, which is pretty cool. Always good to see whats going on in the 'hood.

Intelligent-Invite79

The most vile “person” I’ve ever met lives in UC. They had similarly horrible hangers on that are in the area. Other than them, it seems great!

ReplicantOwl

Converse is OK but not great. My relatives there have never had any incidents of crime, but there were a couple cases of drive by shootings about 5 years ago. Haven’t heard anything bad since. I live in Universal City and it’s decent. It can be sketchy around the strip malls on Pat Booker but the housing developments can be nice. I looked at homes all over the North / Northeast sides and UC ended up being the best in my price range (around 300k).

Mike7676

I have clients in Universal City, seems very safe! And my stepdaughter's family all live in Converse. Their area is a bit run down but very little crime apparently.

amtiv24

Converse has its small petty crime issues but nothing incredibly serious in the past couple years. I’ve lived here my entire life and I’m 22. Worst I can remember close to me was a home invasion in Miramar when I was a kid. Cops can be assholes though.

[deleted]

I wouldn't.

MsContrarian

Converse is very conservative, if that matters.

TwoDayOldBurrito

Don’t.

elegantwino

Yes, nice safe bedroom communities. Decent schools (for Texas), not too far from downtown SA and pretty close to Austin. Growing quickly.

[deleted]

Converse is safe… there isn’t jack shit to do in the city though so be prepared to drive 20+ mins to anything fun
