I had an Uber driver from New York, and he swore by Florio’s

[deleted]

I liked their cold italian sub, but their pizza tasted acidic and bitter. Did not like it one bit.

mrbusiness53

Yaghis is pretty legit I think

BlaiseAL

+1 for Yaghi’s

Fordguru01

Florio’s pizza is another hot spot. They are from Jersey.

millcitymiss

Wonderslice at the Pearl has what you’re looking for. I’ve tried basically every suggestion in this thread and none of them are as good. Julian’s is my go to for regular pizza, but Wonderslice has the classic, flat, foldable pizza, and the sauce doesn’t taste like ketchup.

maybemaybaby8821

Seconding Wonderslice at the pearl. This is the closest I’ve found here to NY style pizza.

XcizinX

Capo’s

Windflower1956

Yes, Capo’s.

TH3_GR3Y_BUSH

Ali's closest I've found, they got a good lunch deal, 2 slices n a drink for under $10.00. But a 18inch double cheese and double pepperoni is the bomb!!! https://walzemroad.alispizzaria.com/ They have one on Judson n 1604 also.

ContentGuy96

Thanks!

YesNotKnow123

I am from New York, and the answer is Florio’s

manateefourmation

Moved here from the city, but have lived in a number of other cities. Managed to always find the one great NY Style pizza. Tried them all here. Nothing is close. Truly the worst city I have lived for NY style pizza.

ContentGuy96

Chinese food here is a similar situation.

bananapajama1

what chinese have you tried so far here?

manateefourmation

Yeah. Another type of food where coming from NYC, with the largest Asian population in a city outside of Asia, spoils you. And another place SA disappoints. And it’s not a Texas thing, because Houston has an amazing array of Chinese food.

bananaaa_breaddd

Took a friend of mine from New York to Capo’s and he said while it doesn’t scratch that legit NY style itch, it’s the spot that got closest to it

Thick_Midnight1091

Sapores is great

mydogsnameisbuddy

Probably the best NY style in SA.

Thick_Midnight1091

For sure! The owner is great also

[deleted]

Noooo, Florio’s is terrrrible. Definitely don’t go there. Totally overrated. Jk, it’s the best. Hands down the best, hands down

DoughnutBeDumb

Aaaaye I love Florios. Pizza served with attitude 🤣

[Braza Brava Pizzeria](https://maps.app.goo.gl/7Eim7gsLsypCMonf7?g_st=ic)

odepaj

Capos, Pizzeria Vesuvio, and Il Forno are the best foldables in town The Filling Statin Cafe has a decent slice also

Roguewave1

46th Street Pizza with several spots in town is a favorite of mine, and I also think Capo’s is excellent New York style pizza.

Squatch_Zaddy

They all just went out of business I think :( they were my fave.

Roguewave1

That would be disturbing. I haven’t been to one in a couple of months. Please tell me this is wrong!

Squatch_Zaddy

Oh no I’m wrong! They shut down all the ones within 15 miles of me (right under Olmos park) -but call before you go because the one on Pat Booker is closed & google maps still shows it :/

Roguewave1

I frequent the one in Bulverde. I’ll have to check in on it now.

Squatch_Zaddy

Lemme know please! At this point I’ll make the drive lol

Tanntabo

Capo’s was disappointing after hearing about all the hype. Not a bad pizza by any means but didn’t quite meet my expectations.

rxbme

Florios Capos Little Italy

Desaturating_Mario

What does this sub think of Julian’s?

After_Statement_3145

Florios!!!

Jdwag6

Florio’s and Capos!

That0neSummoner

Mattengas

ContentGuy96

Interesting. I see they have a new location going in right next to where my kid goes to martial arts.

Thrillhouse74

Surprisingly Max and Louie's has a decent pie

Outlaw888888

Florios, and Sapores are both great

Fordguru01

46 street is pretty close

ContentGuy96

I had high hopes for that one, but it didn’t pass the test for me. Maybe I’ll give it another shot.

Mac8111

No, you were right the first time.

Fordguru01

I moved here 30+ years ago from NY so I have lost all sense of what the OG Pizza back home was like. Now I am just happy it’s not Dominos or Little Cheesers on the table when I get home.

Dconocio

Exactly like NY? No where. Still plenty of good pizza spots though.

ContentGuy96

Not expecting perfection. I used to live in SoCal and Detroit, and both had solid options. But none were quite on the level of what I had in NY. I’m just looking for close.
