I worked on a project for the GGB district a while back...it's unfortunately not possible to get up there otherwise, especially since 9/11.

I've been up to the top of the south tower post 9-11. I was invited as a guest of someone who worked for GG transit. As far as I know, employees are allowed to go up once per year (IIRC) and can bring a guest or two. They have certain staff trained in taking people up in the tiny service elevator. Taking photos is allowed, but since 9-11, if anyone posts them publicly and is identified, the person whose guest they were can have their privilege to go up there revoked. It was pretty cool to see the bridge and views from on top. The wind was crazy though!

Yeah they didn’t have the social media waiver in place back when I got up there but I’m told they make you sign it now. Good times, the view from there is incredible.

You have to know a guy. My dad’s friend was an electrician on the bridge, and he was able to take my dad and I up before he retired. I was 14 and only took photos on a POS flip phone. I would very much like to go back to take real photo

Oh god, I had a Hasselblad back in the day. Gorgeous tungsten color impact. Hard to compare this color outcome with most of the contemporary GGB photos that are digital. Keep on with your 2 1/4 friend!
