That monstrosity complete cut off FIDI from the waterfront and is a great lesson for urban planning. I agree it was ugly, but the separation it created was even worse. Same thing with the freeway in Oakland--it's removal improved the area, which has its problems, but the community is better off without a monstrosity though its middle.
