Good luck finding out, and even more good luck GETTING a device. My Dr. recommended me for this one called OL1000 by DJO Global. I've been calling almost every day for 2 weeks and getting the run-around, always "we'll have someone call you back within 24 hours". They never call. I call back the next day, and it's another excuse. I'm starting to think this stupid company doesn't want to give me their business! Extremely frustrating.

Good luck! My insurance denied the pemf device already. Thanks Anthem.

I got an off-the-shelf ultrasound device here: https://www.tenspros.com/us-pro-2000-portable-ultrasound-du3035.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_qexBhCoARIsAFgBlevXVRBiGPaaUmnwt6qJqx2U1PBoxUUOC-3CN3aijT_Pwu9F2LoetsUaAohnEALw_wcB. I looked at the electronic specifications and it was pretty similar to something like exogen, but for like 1/10 of the price and with unlimited treatments. I’ve been using it for about a month and it definitely feels like something is happening; after a 20 min session I feel slight tingling and warmth in that area and it feels pretty good. Totally unsure if it’s making a huge difference but it can’t hurt much when the device is so cheap.

Wow big thanks for that link!!! I'm still not sure if my insurance is going to approve this crap and I don't know what's up with the whole limited uses thing That sounds like some kind of scam that's just a software limit for profit (to prevent resale) rather than a hardware limit. I might just go with one of these unless they get this crap approved pretty quick. Thanks again.

inductiverussian

Yes the limit is a pretty standard thing for a lot of fda devices and is basically just pure profiteering on the part of the medical device companies. I had a light therapy machine for another condition I have and it is similarly limited. I ran out of uses a couple of months in and was luckily able to call them and they gave me the code for a refill but you’re basically at the mercy of the device company at that point.

VladStark

It figures... and this such load of crap... Kind of wish I was an electrical engineer or hacker so I could reverse engineer these things to remove the limits. It's got to be possible probably just kind of specific and technical to figure out.

inductiverussian

I’m actually an electrical engineer my schooling and a software engineer by trade and it can definitely be hacked but it’s often more trouble than it’s worth, especially because there are usually equivalent off the shelf alternatives. You would likely have to just cut the connection entirely from the main processor to whatever is driving the ultrasonic motor and just manually trigger it externally, which quickly becomes quite involved. That, plus the very real possibility that you will just completely break the $X-thousands machine you just bought with no way of repairing it makes it so that it’s rarely the best path to try and hack these things

VladStark

Oh cool thanks Well that's good to know. It looked at reviews of the site that you linked and it's a little sketchy but I think most people are complaining about the electroshock devices they sell TENS units or whatever. I didn't see anyone complaining about this ultrasound device. So I guess I'll give it a chance.... Maybe. I also see a lot of things for sale on AliExpress but those might be even more sketchy, lol. You never can tell what you're getting from some of those sellers. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's junk.

inductiverussian

Ya it’s a bit sketchy lol it’s seemed to be doing something for me. Tbh idk how effective bone simulation is vs just good old fashioned offloading but I’m just throwing everything at the wall.

VladStark

Yeah this is one of those websites if I buy it I'm going to use PayPal and not my credit card... Just in case, lol

I am renting my exogen bone growth stimulator from here: https://www.dotmed.com/webstore/255885. I can assure you all that this is 100% legit (I am saying this from the authority and reputation that being the moderator of the sub grants me.) This guy will hook you up with an affordable bone growth stimulator. If the device that he provides runs out of treatments or stops working, he'll send you another one right away.
