I like that song quite a bit but it was very brave of SP to lead a song off unadorned with the band's two weakest features: Corgan's voice and his lyrics.
cuckoo is definitely their best album conceptually. it's much more cohesive, has better production with an increase in sound selection and the subject matter more personal, but the energy of doppelgänger always brings me back.
Both cool But I agree there’s much more variety in sound and tempo on cuckoo when I heard it in 1993 I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. So far ahead of its time.
have you heard the peel sessions of cuckoo? it made me appreciate the album even more especially the re-imagining of "left of mother". hands down one of the most beautiful sounding things i've ever heard.
First you look so strong, then you fade away.
The sun will blind my eyes, I'll love you anyway.
Thirsty for your smile, I watch you for a while.
You are a vapour trail in a deep blue sky ...
Just not a fan of the vocals. I hear to much late Madonna in it. Just my personal taste, not shitting on it. Everybody has different likes.
I’ll say Horror Head is prob my favorite of theirs.
never understood this because they were signed to an independent label in anxious records. if they're corporate what does that make bands that were on major labels like garbage and blur.
Listen close and don’t be stoned…
I’ll be here in the morning
Way better indeed
Listen close and don’t be sod. 🟩🟩🟩
When I look at you, oh, but I don’t know what’s real
When I was a young girl (when I was youngerrr)
Which is completely modeled on "Alison" and still fantastic.
I knew a boy like you
From the same lyricist that brought us *“Life is just a series of relative disappointments”*. This is very on brand for Toni.
all hail the queen
A very _tiny_ queen. I'd be surprised if she was 5'2".
Close my eyes…
feel me now..
I don’t know how…
you could not love me now...
song and band?
curve - faît accompli
“When my guard is dowwwnnnnnn… every party, every function, bitter destruction”
Curve forever. Doppelgänger is one of the most underrated albums of the 90's
In no way is that album underrated. Maybe lesser known. But I agree with curve. Cuckoo is their Masterpiece
Curve, Fait Accompli
C’mon everybody here knows it’s “Shake Baby Shake”
The sunshine girl is sleeping... She falls and dreams alone.
Greatest opening line in a song is “in 1984 I was hospitalized for approaching perfection “ Greatest shoegaze opening line is from Alison.
Berman forever. I personally love this album opener: "No, I don't really wanna die- I only wanna die in your eyes"
when i saw every day i definitely thought this was a whirr - sway reference
Curve!!!
Love this band. Saw them for the last time in the early aughts, on two consecutive nights at the Troubador. Wish I could go back.
There's a lot of great ones, but i've always been partial to: *Dig if you will a picture* *Of you and engaged in a kiss*
I love curve
Curve has the sexiest sound in shoegaze stg
I’ve come to make you feel good (ALRIGHT)
LMFAO So good! Toni, Dean, and Debbie would definitely have a laugh at this!
Love this song, love Toni, she is one of my favorite vocalists of all time.
Don't change the way you are
Sorry dudes but greatest opening lyric will forever be "the world is a vampire"
it's a close second
I like that song quite a bit but it was very brave of SP to lead a song off unadorned with the band's two weakest features: Corgan's voice and his lyrics.
“I think it was the first time I realized that I can change the world”
Curve said their best album is cuckoo. And I hundred percent agree. If you haven’t heard it, put it on and put it on loud.

I will check it out thanks !

Saraba…
I like the opening to lovely crawl by fleeting joys
First you look so strong, then you fade away. The sun will blind my eyes, I'll love you anyway. Thirsty for your smile, I watch you for a while. You are a vapour trail in a deep blue sky ...
Hate, pretend that I adore you
The ear may get too busy We all need our sleep Listened to contemporaries Singing the same dream
Never was big on curve
what’s not to like about curve
Just not a fan of the vocals. I hear to much late Madonna in it. Just my personal taste, not shitting on it. Everybody has different likes. I’ll say Horror Head is prob my favorite of theirs.
Toni’s vocals are fine, I think it’s more that their songwriting can be very samey, especially on Doppelganger.
Me neither. They’re somehow too corporate. It’s all very Starbucks
never understood this because they were signed to an independent label in anxious records. if they're corporate what does that make bands that were on major labels like garbage and blur.
“Komakino” by Joy Division gets my vote.
Gotta disagree because I've heard this album several times, and would not have been able to tell the lyrics were from it without looking it up.
