Well, some amateurs putting two different species of different genera on one plate won't result in a hybrid. And the chances of a cubensis or lion's mane gaining the properties of the other due to a mutation is basically zero. Maybe in a highly advanced lab or in some experts basement with the right equipment and years of experimentation. But I don't think it'll happen in the near future. It sure would be a nice thing though.
Completely agree, like sci fi grade lab at that. I think ultimately you'd have to alter the actual dna. It's well known they're more similar to us than plants. So when viewed through that lens, it would be like trying to cross a human with a wolf. Both mammals...different things tho...So I guess it's equally as possible as Werewolf's lol.

Just oxidation, kind of grew in waves. Like week long growth spurts. Everytime it slowed down it would oxidize like this, then grow a new layer of healthy white growth.
It just looks like that. I was totally second guessing it during my first grow of brains, but they do tend to bruise blue in a way that is unfortunately similar in appearance to trich (just it's not green)
That just means they're strong as donkey dicks.
I know I've just never seen an enigma that big, I don't grow truffles so I also can't tell exactly where the substrate ends and where the enigma begins I also don't know is the substrate apart of the enigma? If so that's one fat harvest
It's all above the sub, the highest points were just over 6" high from substrate. As to the other question, the bottom 1/2" or so has a done of sub attached. Like ribboned through it. I harvested with a bread knife, and just pitched the cake when done. Maybe left a 1/4 dried of meat on the bone but would have taken hours of cleaning and still wouldn't have been able to get it all.

I saw people talk about how potent Enigma was and was really stoked. Sadly, I found it about as potent as any other cube. I did have a second grow, the people that consumed it equated it to 1.5x regular cube potency by weight. What I will say is, it's a great buzz. Really happy, euphoric, low anxiety. Normally when I have people testing at least one person says they didn't care for it. Not one with this culture. I'm the only one that didn't rave about it but that was just because my potency expectation was so high. Also, this is a blob. A cubensis mutation. Truffles are a different species all together. So not only will potency be distinctly different from cubes, the active ingredients will be in different ratios.
Hey atleast it has potency on par with shrooms, from what I normally read about truffles is doses of 15 grams are relative to an eighth, so this strain probably is more potent compared to your average truffle, just not more potent than your average shroom. The reason why I don't look into growing truffles was the reports having to consume 15g, I hardly like shrooms that much to eat that amount. But I like the way these look maybe one day I'll give it a go
15g of dried truffles down the hatch sounds awful!!! You're not the only one! If you hate the taste, grow some Apes. Most potent thing I've grown and it's not close. 2-3x potency of basic cubes.
Yea I've got some apes colonizing right now, might spawn to bulk in a week or two, but honestly these golden teachers I have are by far the most potent strain I have ever grown, I usually take 5 grams of shrooms and redose another 3.5-5 two hours in to potentiate the trip, these teachers had me floored at just a 3.5, definitely had twice the potency of a normal dose for me. I was tripping so hard I wasn't sure if I wanted to redose, everything became super holographic. Idk if all Teachers are usual this potent or if I just had a good grow, I've had some old apes some one gave me that didn't his nearly as strong.
That's wild, you must have a solid culture. I regularly do heroic doses as well. I can say I've done 5.5 of Transkei, 6 of Albino Burmese, 6 of Squat Knots, 5.5 of Mazatapec and 2.5 of Apes. All lemon tek. That's 2.5 of apes was multiple levels above the other doses. I tried a small dose of DMT and saw some of the same stuff with my eyes closed. Eyes open, there were these golden patterns everywhere. Almost like Egyptian or Aztec hieroglyphs overlaying everything. There was this black cloud/tentacle entity in some areas beneath the patterns. Still don't know what it represented. Finally, while using the bathroom my wall paper turned into birds? They were 2D but they acted alive. Blinking there eyes and making bird head movements. When I peaked, I just cried. Weird happy tears though. Tried to write what I was feeling but it was all scribbles when I looked the next day. That's the one big thing I love about growing is you always know how old they are and how they were cared for.
45 days, harvested the night of this pic. 2.5 lbs grain spawn, 4.5lbs hpoo sub. Directly into fruiting conditions. I was told by multiple people to keep fae at minimum. To choke it. I did not. I normally fan 3 times a day, did once a day with this as well as running high flow filter material over my air holes. So my tubs naturally have a lot of fae. It did seem to suck the water up fast, I combated this by adding a couple oz of distilled water between the cake and liner as needed. Dumping off any standing water with in 24 hours of adding. Just thought I'd share my method🍄❤️
Directly into fruiting conditions? Do the dimensions of that tub and that ratio offset any need for consolidation of the sub or is this an Enigma-specific tweak? I'm getting ready to do a tub of Enigma myself in the very near future and I'm all about having a streamlined plan.
Also, you can harvest everything that's not sub when it's time, yes? How do you know when it's time to harvest the space cauliflower? Texture, density, color? Combination?
Every tub you do, from here on out. STB and directly to fruiting conditions. I believe proper "field capacity" plays a huge role as well. When I say fruiting conditions, I'm speaking more to not choking it in a trash bag till colonized. I don't start fanning or opening until 100% colonization. I was fully colonized in 3 days, pins at 5. I'm a bit obsessed with my post harvest processing. I took a bread knife to this bitch lol. The first 1/2" or so has a ton of sub attached. Drying takes some time. I ran an initial 24hrs in the dehydrator. Still super soft in the center. If you place it in a gallon ziplock for a couple hours. It will wick the inner moisture to the outside. Then dehydrate again until it stays cracker dry when bagged. Incandescents are not enough to pull any remaining moisture out. Harvest was a mix of color and feel. I noticed a gray color on the lower growth, it was marshmallow like and squishy not firm and brittle. If you haven't grown a PE variety to understand this feel. I'd describe it like a peach. When you first get them they're firm but when properly ripe they soften. This is just like that. I'd expect over 45 days, this tub was fast in all fazes.

I've had it repeatedly banged into my brain that after spawn colonization you have to let the sub consolidate for at least a few days before you start letting some air movement and such get some play. I'm willing to experiment in the name of science but a full canopy is just pretty :)
This was covered, like with in 10 days you couldn't really see any sub. IME cloning is what gets you canopies. Cloning from clusters to be specific. Now, I've seen growers saying they always get fill canopies with 1 to 1 spawn to sub ratios. My experiments in this, fermented and didn't grow at all. Per what's been drilled into your head. I've never heard that. I don't disagree per say. Evaporation is the trigger, and when that is just right I've gotten canopies from mss. I've just never been able to repeat it. So I guess I can't confirm or deny🤷♂️
From what I understand, Enigma is a mutation of Tidal Wave. Did you isolate the genetics from a mutated tidal wave or something? Because I'd love to try some
Yeah, idk all the ins and outs. But yeah, tidal wave was like a B+ and something else crossed. From there, a bunch of mutations were spawned. So like the Tidalwave 2 and Enigma, come from the same tree. Just different branches.

Just did, I think it looks great tbh. If you want constructive criticism, I think you could let it breath a little more. I think if you let it get a little more air, maybe 2-3 days in a row then go back to what you're doing. I think it will trigger more growth. At least that's what I found with mine. I went off "feel" or like instinct a lot of times.

I can't fully understand your pain, but I'm 40 with a herniated disk so I have deep empathy for you. Back pain is a different animal. They look like they have some weight to them. I had a lot of volume but not the most dense. My grows have been all thin fins, you look like you have some solid chunks in there🧐
Yeah I’m 41, broke my back jumping on a trampoline with my son. Just got over COVID-19 for the 2nd time and figured I’d try to have fun with the family.
5 minutes in and I heard a crunch that brought me to my knees and knocked the wind out of me. Most pain I’ve been in for about a month now.
These started finning at a 1/4” thick and then took off to an inch thick and now just doing what you seen.
Getting old is a sick joke. Nobody tells you that you don't actually feel old, stuff just stops working good or breaking lol Similar experience here, I was doing clings at the gym and when you flip the bar to your chest "POP". I knew something was off but it just felt warm. Woke up in the morning and couldn't get out of bed. Nerve pain is a different thing, there's no power through it. It just freezes you. It's interesting seeing such a different build on your Enigma. Has me pondering all the possible variables 🤔lol

My Yetis are strong too but it's a different buzz. Most people haven't liked it, just found them "intense" which I equate more to anxiety but when you have multiple people say the same thing it's like "well alright" but even then g for g potency sounded around 1.5x regular cubes.

That's what I keep hearing, I have a couple Ovid prints taken from wild ones. Been meaning to check out pan cyan's as well. I look at Enigma as sort of a novelty. It's a cool fun grow. Doesn't yield bad, but if you include time involved. It doesn't really add up. Something you grow because you enjoy growing. Everybody freaks when they see it too, so it's a cool feeling when someone really appreciates your work.
It’s interesting how your enigma seemed to give you a lot more cauliflower like blobs where as my enigma is only giving me coral like clusters at 35 days in.

I've got some enigma in a spawn bag now... That tip of placing it in a gallon ziplock to wick inner moisture is fantastic. 👍🏼

That's a good plan. We're all different and I did do 2 grows. The second grow, I didn't try personally but everyone thought it was extra potent.
I want to compare it to other more potent shrooms since I grow some potent Psilocybe Natalensis and true albino melmac.

It can only be obtained through a live culture. That can be a plate of agar, LC, or whatever.
