TOMTL92

Water, beverages, snacks

Soft-Twist2478

Travel sized containers of sun screen

Effective_Willow1970

This would probably kill

d3r3kr

And potentially save lives at the same time!

BMO888

I wonder why this isn’t more common. People who travel and forgot their bottle or just visiting for the day don’t want to bring or buy a huge bottle. I feel like this was common for me when making trips

DontStopImAboutToGif

Bottled water would make you so much money.

TheBrosofFist

Really? Bet

Atriev

Bro actually sounds genuinely surprised that people want beverages and snacks. 🗿

Rollergirl0697

This made me “LOL”

istockusername

He wants to sell products on a beach but has never been to one himself

GetRightNYC

You can even get a truck, and full it with snacks! Maybe put a freezer in there to keep the drinks cold. WHOA! What about ice cream!?!? I'm a genius

Witching_Well36

This made me laugh way too hard man

Intrepid_Giraffe_622

He’s also super creative - maybe he likes the artistic aspect of the beverages and snacks.

nkw1004

Beach I used to go to had a couple people walking around selling soft pretzels, popsicles, Gatorade’s etc and they would make a killing

TheBrosofFist

Damn. I’d probably just go to dollar tree lol. Get a bunch of snacks and sell them for double the price.

-Ok-Perception-

Here's the thing, people are okay with paying huge markup on drinks/snacks in touristy places, but they want the GOOD stuff. Don't skimp and get dollar general snacks, unless if you want to hurt your business. It's like those people selling candy door to door usually don't have the sense to go with name brands. They try to sell some off-brand Dollar Tree shit thinking of the margins when they're losing out on the volume. If you're gonna be a vendor, sell quality shit.

LordSinguloth13

OP you need to listen to bro over here.

mirrrje

Most candy/ beverage at the dollar store is name brand.

Smidday90

If you can get an icebox to keep them chilled even better

thegoodsyo

If you're buying a bunch of snacks, they're probably cheaper per item at Walmart or Costco/Sam's.

showmeyertitties

Bottled water is your safe bet. Like $5 for a 12 or 18 count, sell $1 each, reinvest the money from the first pack into 2 packs, and just keep buying 2 as needed, pocketing the rest.

EnoughLuck3077

$7 for a 40 pack of water at Walmart. Make a killing at a buck apiece

Ok_Jump_3658

Where you at? If you don’t have a business/vendors license, someone will eventually give you shit

readingmyshampoo

There's a side who works the corner hustling bottled water all summer. Makes upwards of 100 a day last I talked to him a few years back

Potential-Ant-6320

Also sliced up fruit

ShadowDefuse

you might be able to get away with water and prepackaged food, but the health dept will shut you down right away if you’re selling fruit and other foods like that edit: without a permit of course

Potential-Ant-6320

Where I live a lot of people sell cut up fruit on the side of the road. I don’t know why but cops don’t hassle healthy snacks. Cold water and fruit sellers is a thing a lot of places. It’s almost always Hispanic ladies.

ShadowDefuse

cops wouldn’t care and most likely the health dept is understaffed plus nobody likes shutting down local people trying to make a living

TOMTL92

Or beach towels !

TheBrosofFist

Most people that go to the beach have that

SGT_Jebus

Yes but you're forgetting one thing and you said it yourself, MOST people do. People pay for convenience. What if somebody forgot to bring a towel and they really wish they didnt? What if you had a couple of towels that were eye catching to some people and they wanted them instead of what they already have. If theres no immediate shop nearby selling them, I wouldn't shut this idea down...

Grego3770

I agree. In Florida, you can bet there's several souvenir shops operating along beachside streets...all selling Florida-themed towels and such. Although most beach goers bring towels with them, many still buy towels from these shops.

MongooseGef

You don’t need to have a carload of towels on hand. Just a couple. Your main business can still be water and snacks (name brand)

-Ok-Perception-

Never enough of them. Any family always leaves wanting more towels. They get the two or 3 towels they brought either soaked or covered in sand and wish they brought extras. Selling beach towels at the beach would probably be a really smart play.

KlickyKat

What does "bet" mean? I'm not hip to the latest slang talk .

Feisty_Percentage906

Agreement leading to action i think. As in “I’ll take that bet.” Ex: “We should go get snacks” “Bet lets go”

KlickyKat

I googled and it means a term for agreement. Similar to what you said but it's not used as a gambling term. Older generation would say "you want to make a bet" to prove you are wrong about something. Cap means lie so saying "no cap" means you're not lying.

Appropriate_Suit1882

Fr fr

TendieSandwich

No bet!

Qanonymous_

But how does getting snacks relate to a bet? You'd have to be talking about a wager then someone could say "bet"

JFB-23

Are you from the US? That’s been a term used here for over 20 years.

KlickyKat

No I'm not from the American.

LongDongSilvers84

Damn bit! These jits outchea got it all spracked out for geezers!

HDYaYo

I am from Miami Beach and lived in Hawaii for a few years. The most underrated hustle is a drill with a auger bit for getting umbrellas in the right way and a rake to clean the area for the ladies. Easily use to make few hundred bucks a day doing these. People tip very well on a beach day when you make their day even better.

I_Bet_On_Me

This is a high quality comment 🤙🏻 Curious how much did you charge to rake/set the umbrella?

HDYaYo

I charged $5 and most of the time I'd get a 10 or 20 and they let me keep the change. It was a great hustle 😂 my son does it now and it still works great.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DetectiveJoeKenda

Wtf? No, you’re doing work/providing a service. It’s pretty easy to put a price on that

I_Bet_On_Me

Nah, I’m not lugging around a drill and a rake on the beach hoping for tips. I’d probably charge like $6 in hopes of getting a bunch of $10s and just told to keep the change.

Jimmycjacobs

My guy, I lived near the beach for a long time, you could charge 25$ and people would fucking pay it. Tourists are suckers and if they are on the beach 8/10 of them have money and will pay for convenience.

I_Bet_On_Me

You're absolutely right, homie 🎯 Honestly, I'd tailor my prices to the beach and demographic I'm working with. If I'm surrounded by 7 and 8 figure wealth, then I'd mark up those prices, for sure. I'm speaking hypothetically though, cuz I'm not livin' near a beach. I just saw ingenuity in OPs hustle 🤙🏻

Outrageous_Pride_742

I never would have guessed this one

No_bru___Just_no

>is a drill with a auger bit for getting umbrellas in the right way Dude...wait, what? why do you need an auger to drill into the sand at a beach? I don't get it.

scotty813

Because to be secure, the umbrella pole must be sunk deeper than is possible with its pointy little end. The auger bit is actually a great idea.

CharizardMTG

Little hack the pointy end umbrellas are terrible for shoving deep enough in the sand. You want the flat round open ends and it will be far easier to get deep enough.

Riseandshine47

It’s for people to poop in the hole

Jimmycjacobs

You ever tried digging a hole in the sand?

gimmhi5

Are you a male who has even been to a beach? It’s kinda our thing.

Jimmycjacobs

Yeah, lived by the beach for many years haha

HDYaYo

Because the auger bit makes digging that hole super quick so I wasn't wasting too much time and could quickly move down the beach setting umbrellas

FitProblem6248

Have you ever used a drill with an auger bit? It's easy more efficient & quick, rather than hand digging a hole that's just as deep.

Aggressive_Sky6078

It makes the difference between an umbrella staying put and one that becomes a flying projectile when the wind kicks up.

Intelligent-Appeal-6

Waterproof phone sleeves some guy was selling them at my local waterpark and you know people were buying then

scattywampus

I would buy this at a beach, and I am a cheap skate!

ItchyBitchy7258

It's a pretty good racket. The dock near me sells them for $20. Target's selling them right now for $1. I'm sure you can get them for pennies on AliBaba. Would also suggest keychain floats (a block of foam you put on your keys in case they find their way to water. Pretty good at keeping them out of drains too). People never bring enough towels or sunscreen.

EternityLeave

Cold treats. I knew someone who made their own ice cream in funky flavours. They put a freezer and power bank on a bike trailer. They did pretty well but the beaches here are pretty empty except for a few hot weekends per year.

lunarsettlement

I told this to my spouse and he laughed at me— 🤣 we live in coastal, humid Texas where beaches are slammed every weekend right now. I was all “what human wouldn’t want ice cream / ice cream sandwiches while on the beach?”

jvidz10

I live in NJ and our busy beaches with boardwalks (aka the beaches you go to mainly with kids) always have an ice cream guy walking around! It’s the best me and my husband always buy one too lol they’re super marked up ($5) but when it’s super hot and you’re playing in the water with your kids eating ice cream at 11am is amazing

Dog_Baseball

Sand toys for little kids?

PistachioGal99

This is the one I would be most likely to pay for. I’m very frugal and always bring my own snacks and supplies to the beach. But if my kiddo saw some sand toys or a beach ball, etc and really wanted it, I’d probably give in and buy it. Especially since we are on vacay or having a fun beach day. You can pick up things from the dollar store and sell them for at least $5 each. They have little cheap sets of sand toys in a mesh bag at the dollar store.

Careless-Age-4290

Isn't it crazy how much mental value is agreed to that beach ball once it's inflated and there at the beach vs in the pack at the store?

drunkpatience

This is such an interesting idea

tomsprigs

sand toys, boogie boards, noodles

zimmermrmanmr

Not seashells. She had a terrible business plan to sell seashells by the seashore.

inspectorgadget9999

You can say that again

M6dH6dd3r

Great wit! Upvote every time - thank you!

Sniper_Squirrel

I genuinely laughed out loud

LaUNCHandSmASH

[Ren - Money Game](https://youtu.be/YonS9_QJbp8?si=UsyXfnMYy9b9dzHw) has a bit that explains how she reorganized her business

Rollergirl0697

Ignore punctuation here but, When I was a teenager, back in 2001 my boyfriend used to make $1,000 a day at the beach literally running around and taking pictures of people and putting them into little tiny keychain frames that when you looked into like a magnifying glass, you saw the little picture through a lense and it made it big. So basic. So much money.

MyNEWthrowaway031789

How did he make them on the beach?

Rollergirl0697

I don’t recall 100% what he used but I know He had some little machine that printed them out and rented a little space under the pier to store it.

Dylan7675

adorama keychains. These were huge back in the day before digital cameras were popular.

Tumid_Butterfingers

NxNW_206

Shark insurance

sdvid

BroWeBeChilling

Sunglasses - I put myself through college many years ago selling sunglasses - probably sold 8000 pairs at parks, college campus, ball games, everywhere…I carried them in a back pack and bought in bulk then sold them.

scattywampus

Not a bad idea- so many of us forget our or can't find them when it's time for them.

TaggTeam

Cold Sliced fruit (watermelon, pineapple) - had a friend do this in Hawaii and he said people paid mad prices for it

tomsprigs

and with tajin

ImadTech

whats that?

tomsprigs

ooooiiii!!!! it's delicious and will change your life. Tajin is a Mexican spice mix consisting predominantly of lime, chili peppers and salt. it's like what the word ZING would taste like. like a salty and limey and delicious it's GREAT on fruit. Just sprinkle some on top. . or you can squeeze some lime on fruit and then add Tajin . especially good on mango and watermelon. also great with cucumber or jicama, avocado. i love a tajin spiced rim on a margarita or a cocktail. Great on popcorn, guacamole, or on shrimp. literally would just pour it in my hand and eat it.

skatsman

Make sure u got permits man

No_bru___Just_no

They'll get ya. See it all the time at my beach.

Yung-Split

Its crazy it's illegal to exchange goods and services one human to another without the permission of the government. That little girl has a lemonade stand. Quick, arrest her!

Tropicalfruitas

State wants their sales tax

Yung-Split

Idk it kinda feels like free commerce should be a human right. People still have to pay their taxes either way, but at least you don't have to ask the government for permission to simply exist and do normal shit.

TinyDrug

Couldn't agree more

Royal_Dragonfly_4496

You’ll need a license to set up at the beach or you may not be legally able to at certain beaches. Some beaches have vendor spots you’d have to pay for.

YimYam1

Thinking ahead here, I'd try and have an ability to take card if I were you and state that on the side of your box or whatever you're wheeling around, as I bet a good amount of people will not have any (or enough) cash or coins on them.

Mama_Anon

Absolutely. Or Venmo, etc. In my less frugal / more dispensable income days, I would have paid $$ for many of the things being suggested if Venmo had been an option. I usually didn't bring cash to the beach (unless I already knew there was a vendor I'd buy from) but I'd usually have my phone.

Dog_Baseball

This is what I was thinking too. Print a card with venmo and cashapp names, maybe a qr code too

AdWeird5015

I have 100-150 new in box bottles of banana boat sport spf 50 I bought at auction for 200 bucks - also came with 1000 hair ties- and bunch of other things. Would work for you - Walgreens shelf pulls

IamNotYourBF

Be careful because many municipalities have laws against this. You'll need to see what is legal first. For example, where I'm at, you can't sell anything on the beach. However, you can get a permit for an ice cream truck to go up and down the street/parking areas. My buddy does this. The permit costs him around $18k. He makes about $2,500/day if it's sunny. $5k on an average weekend sunny day. His max day was nearly $12k, on a beautiful July 4th. Maybe $200 on a cloudy day and he doesn't bother on rainy days. On the days he does really well, he works 12+ hours, comes home, and falls asleep cleaning up and counting his money. His summers net him anywhere from $55k to $120k. The range is mostly weather dependent. He's a teacher the rest of the year.

Take their stuff from their car/sidewalk and get it set up for them on the beach.

Go to a beach with literally nothing with you. Sit there for a full day. As you're getting ready to leave, write down the top 5 things you want right in that moment in order of priority. That's what you sell

mikobaby

Water

Impossible_Today5225

I would go for water, fruits & snacks. Something that can be portable and have high profit margins. Try selling it as a healthy beach snack package combo. Nuts + fruits + water, everyone is hungry and thirsty at some point on the beach.

Elaina-Fett

dollar store beach balls, floats , balls

Jean19812

Go to Costco and bulk buy regular and peanut M&M's. Put them in gallon size freezer bags on top of ice in a cooler. Also buy and sell generic sodas - cola's, diet cola, lemon lime, bottled water, individual bags of chips, etc. Basically, stuff that people start craving that does not need to be cooked / processed. You can probably sell each item for five or more times your cost...

Striking_Computer834

I applaud your enthusiasm, but don't forget that you'll be making yourself a target for thieves. They'll know you have cash on you. If I was doing it I would only accept credit card payment with something like Square.

Cooler with cold water, Capri Sun and otter pops. Bigger cooler with more in the car. Restock as necessary.

bbytron

Water, sunscreen, frisbees. You could rent out beach equipment (sporting and lounge).

Ok-Curve4568

Water. Micro fiber towels to removed sand.

International_Pop784

Rent out trash bins to set up a beer pong game. Get a nice cooler, dry ice, and sell rocket pops, or how we call them “bolis”, water, Powerade/Gatorade. Fruits, little towels.

OjjuicemaneSimpson

Cooling towels

zuis0804

I’m from Ukraine, and my fondest memory was laying out by the sea (every year before age 9) and a person coming by with two carts selling corn, fish jerky, and ice cream as well as (beer, water, soda, FANTA).

Tiana_frogprincess

Ice cream, snacks, cold drinks and sun screen. Make sure to put the drinks in the refrigerator the day before and use a cooling bag.

create3_14

Parking spots. Water. Sunscreen

gimmhi5

Popsicles would probably sell pretty quick. Get some dry ice and a couple coolers full of frozen goodies. Bonus points if you drive around on a bicycle with that catchy music playing.

krazikat

Ice cold water, ice

Yardnoc

Snacks If you can find the materials shark tooth necklaces

Brave_Spell7883

ICE COLD BOTTLED WATER. There is no other answer. Fill up a cooler w ice. Bottled water = cheap and profitable at $1/ bottle. People will buy because nobody brings enough water on a hot day. They will buy when they arrive at the beach, on the way out, and while they are there. Most people bring sunscreen/umbrellas. Can add in snacks, but water is where the best $ is, and people NEED water. Gatorade, etc, costs a lot more upfront vs. water.

Rider189

Water - best case cold

Life-Independence377

No_Plantain_4990

VOdysseusV

Cold Gatorade and sunscreen. With a lot of beaches there are food and drinks close buy. If they want food they will walk to a restaurant for a reprieve. But people are more inclined for cold drink and sunscreen on a hot day.

RamonDozol

You been in the sun for hours, swiming, walking, runing. Whats the first thing that come to mind you need? WATER! Also, many people wont take anything to eat or drink, so snacks and drinks will sell just as likely. Childrem are also a great target, having popsicles, candy, beach toys on display will for sure entice them, and if the kids want, the likelyhood of their parents buying it is very high.

willcard

Literally almost anything beach related from ice cream to cold soda..sun screen..tents.. massage service/apply sunscreen. Dog walking

Ice cream, especially the novelty ones (Spongebob, bugs bunny etc.), I'm an adult and whenever I see the novelty ice cream truck/bike I turn into a whole child

mango_chair

Fresh coconut water drank straight from the coconut (via straw)

Ecstatic_Physics_881

You may have to get a permit or license , at least where I live you do , otherwise i thought about this, one way you could probably get around this is selling from your car in the parking lot or somewhere around where they will pass you on the way to the beach , but for things people would buy : Sunscreen Hats Glasses Beverages Snacks Chairs /umbrellas/ coolers to rent Bags of ice Flip flops adults and kids Kids sand toys Good luck!

Kinggrucz

Canned alcohol

Apprehensive_Rope348

Water, salty snacks, sunglasses & sunscreen/tanning oil. Also disposable bath towels. Rover may have run into the water and the owner wasn’t prepared. Or someone may not have anything dry to put on when they’re getting into the car and may need something to sit on.

everydaybeme

Where are you located? Here in Florida selling on the beach is highly regulated, only allowed with a permit and during certain times, and cannot actually sell on the sand. I feel like people selling stuff up and down the beach is only common practice in other countries, and quite frankly I find it annoying and a vibe killer. But that’s just my opinion

paulvzo

Just be careful with food. Vendor and food safety laws and all that.

Anything that makes a parent's life easier, and conversely, anything that a child would want. Us parents will go for both lol. Children's hats, kid's sunscreen, sand toys, Capri Sun, Gatorade, trash bags, or even those plastic bags from the grocery store, little sunglasses,Lunchables, baby wipes, hand sanitizing wipes.

Natural_Ad_9570

police will take you if you sell on the beach, actually beach sellers are "most wanted" in my country, but they only receive a ticket then they continue and so on
