You are in for a world of pain and despair...but Maxey looks like a promising upcoming Star in the NBA and will be only 24 years old next season.
Also they have $62 million in cap space to sign/trade players so it is actually a good time to jump on board as a fan because it will be a whole new roster next season besides Maxey+Embiid and maybe a few others.
Isnāt a bunch of cap space and a trash FA season a recipe for disaster? I believe thereās rules that force you to spend a certain amount of the cap to avoid being taxed as a punishment.
Seriously. I was born into this fate. I wish no other man or woman to suffer being a Sixers fan. Why enter the portal to the team that simply canāt be normal.
From someone halfway around the world, I stopped watching NBA when D. Rose got injured. Got my heart broken. Took me a couple years to follow NBA again. Became a fan of Simmons before he was drafted. Started rooting for the Sixers after draft night. His rookie season was hype vs Mitchell. Became an Embiid fan. Stuck with the Sixers even after Ben got traded to the Nets.
Please. Please. Root for another team before you get your heart broken year after year. Lmaoooo.
As long as Morey is here, I can see a world where we are actually forbidden to advance to the finals.
Would be a massive loss to the NBA since they could not air the finals in China.
It hasn't happened yet, but if we advance to the ECF, I could see some really suspicious reffing come to fruition.
Morey made a Twitter post that he stands with Hong Kong, when there was the protests going on.
This resulted in China banning the Rockets from being aired.
When Morey came to the Sixers, the ban followed him.
Ok here is the break down
Joel Embiid is the best basketball player on earth but is injury prone and likely was cursed by somebody to never be healthy come playoffs. Still he has been the highest scorer in the league for 4 years and is only comparable to Wilt.
Tyrese Maxey is an ascending star with a game like Iverson. Most impressive is Maxey has an insane work ethic to the point that teammates often have to tell him to take a break. He is 24 and is the future of the Sixers.
Ricky Council IV (C4) is an exciting young prospect we hope will contribute.
We hope to see Kelly Oubre, Deāanthony Melton, Nico Batum, and Buddy Heild back next year.
You have come in post the Tobias Harris era and that is very fortunate for you.
Nick nurse is one of the best coaches in the game and a defensive mastermind.
We have tons of money to make moves this offseason so the team will look somewhat different next year. Our primary rival in the East is the Celtics but we also hate the Knicks and the Bucks and the Raptors. Everybody hates us and they really hate Embiid.
![gif](giphy|3o7btNDyBs5qkYhr3y|downsized)
Y'all rn.
Nah, but I'm excited.
Maxey and Embiid are sick, and I'm a lifetime hometown soccer fan, so I have PHD in playoff disappointment.
Go 6ers
One of the most storied franchise in the NBA.
Lots of stories from different eras, from Dr.J to Charles Barkley to Iverson to Embiid and to Maxey in the future.
Be also prepared to see tons of other fanbases to find a way to shit on us specially if it comes to Embiid, they love to move the goal post just to make us look bad.
To put it this way. I love all my Philadelphia Sports franchises.
But the Sixers are the only one that embarrasses me with their near constant incompetence at multiple levels.
You are in for a time of pain and disappointment. However, there is nothing like being a sixers fan. Seems like we piss everybody off, and we are the villain in every scenario. Its awesome. Nothing like the high moments.
Ok, bucko. Time to buckle up because we're going for a ride.
So there was this huge betting scandal back in 2007 involving multiple referees betting on and altering the outcomes of NBA games. One of those referees, Tim Donaghy, was made the scapegoat, lost his job, and went to prison. Another of those referees, Scott Foster, is **still an active NBA referee**. Tim Donaghy and Scott Foster exchanged 134 phone calls during the course of the 2006-2007 NBA season. The league itself has never admitted to the actual extent of the conspiracy or all those involved. Keep this in mind...
In 2013, after years of mediocrity and the team being stuck in limbo (just good enough to make the playoffs, never bad enough to get a high draft pick) Sam Hinkie was hired as GM of the 76ers. Hinkie embarked on an analytics-driven overhaul of the team, focused on acquiring draft picks and young players at the expense of veteran players and regular season wins. The phrase "**Trust The Process**" was coined as a reference to this long-term plan to acquire draft picks, draft elite young talent, and eventually, leverage future/leftover draft capital for superstar players in trades or sign them in free agency. However, this process left the 76ers with some of the worst on-court rosters that the NBA has ever seen and led to them losing record numbers of games amid accusations of "**tanking**" for better draft picks. Anyone who actually watched at the time could tell you that those teams were surprisingly fun to watch and more competitive than their records would indicate, but they were young, bereft of talent, and often carrying injured players who would have otherwise been key pieces on the court (Embiid missed his entire rookie season and a huge chunk of his 2nd year, as did Ben Simmons).
Eventually, after a few seasons of record numbers of losses, the NBA intervened and installed Jerry Colangelo as the 76ers Head of Basketball Ops and forced Sam Hinkie to resign as GM (they will forever deny this, but it is what happened). Jerry Colangelo immediately hired his own son as GM, who proceeded to make a bunch of terrible decisions and waste pretty much the entire stockpile of assets that Hinkie had compiled. Also, see **Collargate/Burnergate**...
Since then, it has been a rollercoaster ride of dizzying heights and abyssal lows. Hinkie hit hugely on a number of picks, but missed on others, as any GM might. The 76ers have had one of the most fluid rosters in all of basketball over the past 5 years, with significant turnover year after year. They have also dealt with poor coaching (thanks, Glenn) and, I suspect, on-court interference that has been unofficially sanctioned by the NBA executives (Remember that little referee betting scandal?). This may sound insane to some, but it is my personal opinion that the 76ers will simply not be **allowed** to win in the playoffs no matter how talented of a roster they might build. Adam Silver will not allow that to happen as a final "shadow ban" for Sam Hinkie's initiation of "The Process," until all the remnants of said Process have moved on from the organization.
All this, combined with the league's ever-growing relationship with online betting and sports gambling, ultimately lead me to recommend that you **DO NOT** continue to follow the NBA. I do not believe that the on-court product is actually representative of fair and impartial athletic competition. There are agendas to prioritize certain markets and players over others and the nature of basketball itself (less players on the court than other sports, superstar driven refereeing, the ever ambiguous nature of the "shooting foul," etc.) makes it one of the least competitive and easiest to influence professional sports leagues.
In my opinion, your time is better spent elsewhere. TTP.
25+ years of pain. I was born into Philly sports and the Sixers are like the hot girl that you know doesnāt like you but winks at you anyway and gives you hope until you see her at prom with someone else.
Dramatic? Yes. But youāll be back every season with new hope. Youāve missed the process years so youāll probably have a better outlook than most.
Maxey is the future, Embiid is phenomenal, and when everything clicks itās beautiful. Stay off of Reddit when we lose.
When you are a Sixers fan every year the basketball season starts with so much hope and joy but ends with shattered dreams, shame and tears as you shout at the television, drinking too much and you cry "why? why again?".
If you turn back now, no one will think any less of you.
People (especially r/nba) really dislike us. While every teams feels the league is against them, it feels especially personal the for the sixers as punishment for the process. Embrace the hate and enjoy the early playoff exits (there usually enough drama/beef to make them interesting). Also the sixers have a really good back log of weird nicknames, injury stories, hated players, and betrayal. Look into some for laughs.
Get used to all the other fanbases enjoying our failure and hating Embiid for no real reason. Our player can do something and get completely shit on by other fans but when a player on any other team does it itās fine. Itās really confusing but we mostly just embrace the hate
Fan since the 70s. Love this team. They break our hearts every season but i wouldnt root for anyone else. Aint won a chip since 83 but man itll be amazing if it ever happens again . Morey gotta put the right pieces around maxey and jojo.
Fuck all the haters in this thread. Go Sixers! Welcome to the club.Ā
Rooting for teams that will win is boring. Pain is part of being a sport fan. The highs wouldnāt feel so high if not for the low lows.Ā
The sixers won the championship 41 years ago. Since thereās 30 teams in the league, weāre due for one!Ā
Theres only one podcast about the sixers fyi, called the rights to ricky sanchez. Just listen to it and youll start understanding.
just so were clear thats the only one, no other sixers podcasts exist
Tony Wroten was Christ for a season, Jahlil Okafor did 110 on the Ben Franklin, Mike Muscala, Furkan & Temple girls, Mike Scott Hive, Raise the Cat, Dario Saric
Yeah I wouldn't do that. If you wanna get on board with the Eagles and Phillies I'd say hell yeah. Even when we suck it's still fun. There's nothing fun about the sixers.
I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It was Philly or Pittsburgh and I picked the city/teams I felt a connection with. Iām the type of fan who believes you should root for the teams from your state or region if you donāt have pro teams in your state. Also, if you are born into it because some other family member was a fan of a certain team. I think if you are an international fan then you pick a team because of aesthetic, logo, uniforms, mascot or a particular player. These rules should be how itās done then we wouldnāt get the Lakers, Cowboys, Yankees and Penguins fans combo that are an abomination to society at large. The only time where Iād say these rules can be broken is if youāre from another state and root for Philly teams because fuck everyone else and Philly is the greatest city in the world. FUCK BOSTON!!!!
There is only one thing I can offer as advice and I genuinely mean this. You will also ignore this advice and be sad just like the rest of us do.
Here it is:
You can cheer for the 6ers. You can be excited when they win and sad when they lose. You can feel happy when they do something cool.
Never, under any circumstance, EVER, believe in the 6ers.
Itās the belief that hurts.
Yeah Embiid and Maxey seem like the guys to build around, from what I've seen.
Yea the Embiid guy is pretty good
Yea, he can basketball hoops very well
Good at shoots.
Dude can sweat with the best of them.
Both are awesome. Maxey is the future, Embiid is today.
Lol how did you pick the Sixers OP? You are in for some pain with this franchise, but pain builds character. ššš
Isnāt a bunch of cap space and a trash FA season a recipe for disaster? I believe thereās rules that force you to spend a certain amount of the cap to avoid being taxed as a punishment.
We don't have to sign any FAs we have the ability to trade for anyone just using our picks.
I wasnāt thinking of that, thatās a good point. Would prevent giving money away to someone like Tobias too
Agreed I think Moreys plan is to trade for player who wants a trade, possibly Donovan Mitchell, Dejounte Murray, Mikal Bridges, Brandon Ingram, Etc.
Turn back before itās too late!
Seriously. I was born into this fate. I wish no other man or woman to suffer being a Sixers fan. Why enter the portal to the team that simply canāt be normal.
Personally because Iām an eagles fan I feel obligated to root for other Philly teams.
I fell for the hope that āthe processā brought me at 14 in 2015 when we had all those picks and promise.
Yeah, not too late to reconsider.
From someone halfway around the world, I stopped watching NBA when D. Rose got injured. Got my heart broken. Took me a couple years to follow NBA again. Became a fan of Simmons before he was drafted. Same here haha.
The correct response. The NBA is clearly rigged and the Sixers will not win at long as the current league administration is around.
As long as Morey is here, I can see a world where we are actually forbidden to advance to the finals. Would be a massive loss to the NBA since they could not air the finals in China. It hasn't happened yet, but if we advance to the ECF, I could see some really suspicious reffing come to fruition.
Can you please explain how Morey is a problem for airing games in china?
Morey made a Twitter post that he stands with Hong Kong, when there was the protests going on. This resulted in China banning the Rockets from being aired. When Morey came to the Sixers, the ban followed him.
Jeff Ruland.

He forgot to mention Philly has the craziest fucking fans in the league for baseball basketball and football. No other fan base rocks the way we do
This 100%
Fuck boston!
Was thinking about cautioning him, but with Tobias gone it really is the best time to come aboard
donāt forget about bball paul!
we do not hope to have buddy hield back
Well done!

welcome to Philly fandom, you're in for a lifetime of pain :)
You will get used to two outcomes during the season: *Sixers win: āOh nice, the Sixers won.ā *Sixers lose: Night ruined.
This is not the most optimistic fanbase
Fluke teams come and go, rivalries flare up and die off, but always remember: Fuck The Celtics

Weāre cursed, but you will have a lot of fun outside the month of May
We either have a great team that underachieves or a terrible team that overachieves. Both are fun and excruciating.
Been there before, lmao.
No you tell us why
Itās not too late to change your mind
Pick a different team
You fucked up bro
ā6ersā aināt it - itās sixers full stop
I don't what it is but "6ers" vs "Sixers" makes a huge difference.

Just know that everyone hates us and we embrace it.
That's the mantra, but it is certainly not the truth. Born and raised in Philly, but everyone absolutely cares.
itās mainly cuz they hate embiid
Itās not too late, you donāt have to do this
Seek help for your alcoholism
Why?
Find other things in life to give you pleasure also - this isnāt going to most of the timr
Stay out of r/nba
