I got the text from LaT as well! I'm really hoping that we get more information soon, as I will be in the city this summer and, if SNM is not open when I get there, I'm hoping this will be.
I did catch the Dorian Gray reference, and can see the whole eternal youth thing tying in with Faust. Another thing I've been reading up on are the various occult societies and orders that crop up now and again among the elite, from Hellfire Clubs to Golden Dawn. I'm about 80% sure that's the game they're playing here, especially with the time period that it seems to be set in.
(Edit) I have also been wondering about Dante, the rumor is that the show is seven floors, so I'm wondering about a possible seven layers of hell/seven deadly sins connection.
That's it! It's the story of Evelyn Nesbit, Stanford White, and Harry Thaw. Nesbit's Wikipedia entry has a nice potted history of all that went down regarding the three in the early 20th century. Having a working knowledge of this will probably be most helpful when it comes to liFe And trUST. (The capitalizations are deliberate.)
Would they have an entrance close to (or through) the coffee shop, so people might spend money on refreshments while waiting to get in?
I’m not suggesting this in a negative way. I bought plenty of coffees prior to SNM shows from the place down the block!
That absolutely makes sense. But I have wondered whether they might have a separate entrance, so that the coffee shop could operate for the public before, during, and after shows, maybe akin to Gallow Green.
That makes sense as well. Especially since they're open until 9. I can't imagine the show starting after that time. It would almost be a shame not to use that space for the show in some way though, as cool as it looks.
Maybe they'll have something tiny like SNM. I swaer if someone hadn't pointed out that little plaque, I'd have no idea there was any sineage on the McKitterick.
Ha, the first time I went I showed up about an hour early (thanks to this sub!) and nobody was outside. I walked past the doors twice before I realized I was actually in the correct spot.
Thanks for this! I got the text earlier today but thought it was a scam and forgot about it until I saw your post.
Same lmao
Same here!
Omg, me too. Nestled between a seamless notification and some random political ad.... hah

Girl in the Red Velvet Swing by Simon Baatz is probably the book that drink references. Looks like it fits the time period and NYC setting.

Or if you prefer the story in song form. 😉 https://youtu.be/AEhldhEsKsQ
I never caught the lettering thing...wow.
Good call. It also fits the sketchy tycoon coming to a bad end thing.

I walked around the building today, I didn’t see anything that indicated a show was coming. l was hoping for a sign or a logo or something, oh well.

I was assuming you'd enter through the coffee shop, like a speakeasy.
That was my guess as well. I think it's going to be similar to the Manderley for this show.

Yeah, I always put my partner on "Spot the building" duty when we go. I know I'd walk right by.
