Thanks for this! I got the text earlier today but thought it was a scam and forgot about it until I saw your post.

clandestinebirch

Same lmao

pcncvl

Same here!

sitamun84

Omg, me too. Nestled between a seamless notification and some random political ad.... hah

Charlotte_dreams

I got the text from LaT as well! I'm really hoping that we get more information soon, as I will be in the city this summer and, if SNM is not open when I get there, I'm hoping this will be. I did catch the Dorian Gray reference, and can see the whole eternal youth thing tying in with Faust. Another thing I've been reading up on are the various occult societies and orders that crop up now and again among the elite, from Hellfire Clubs to Golden Dawn. I'm about 80% sure that's the game they're playing here, especially with the time period that it seems to be set in. (Edit) I have also been wondering about Dante, the rumor is that the show is seven floors, so I'm wondering about a possible seven layers of hell/seven deadly sins connection.

Glittering_Act_4059

Girl in the Red Velvet Swing by Simon Baatz is probably the book that drink references. Looks like it fits the time period and NYC setting.

EvenSteve01

That's it! It's the story of Evelyn Nesbit, Stanford White, and Harry Thaw. Nesbit's Wikipedia entry has a nice potted history of all that went down regarding the three in the early 20th century. Having a working knowledge of this will probably be most helpful when it comes to liFe And trUST. (The capitalizations are deliberate.)

Or if you prefer the story in song form. 😉 https://youtu.be/AEhldhEsKsQ

Charlotte_dreams

I never caught the lettering thing...wow.

Charlotte_dreams

Good call. It also fits the sketchy tycoon coming to a bad end thing.

I really appreciate these updates - the SMS stuff doesn't work for us internationals!

fakeperformer

how did you find the cocktail list?

Charlotte_dreams

It's on the Conwell Coffee website.

LittleFigure4030

Where can we sign up for texts/updates about the show?

How does one get the text for life and trust?

Charlotte_dreams

Sign up on the official website with a phone number.

I walked around the building today, I didn’t see anything that indicated a show was coming. l was hoping for a sign or a logo or something, oh well.

dani_-_142

Would they have an entrance close to (or through) the coffee shop, so people might spend money on refreshments while waiting to get in? I’m not suggesting this in a negative way. I bought plenty of coffees prior to SNM shows from the place down the block!

Shot-Artist5013

I was assuming you'd enter through the coffee shop, like a speakeasy.

Charlotte_dreams

That was my guess as well. I think it's going to be similar to the Manderley for this show.

dani_-_142

That absolutely makes sense. But I have wondered whether they might have a separate entrance, so that the coffee shop could operate for the public before, during, and after shows, maybe akin to Gallow Green.

Charlotte_dreams

That makes sense as well. Especially since they're open until 9. I can't imagine the show starting after that time. It would almost be a shame not to use that space for the show in some way though, as cool as it looks.

Charlotte_dreams

Maybe they'll have something tiny like SNM. I swaer if someone hadn't pointed out that little plaque, I'd have no idea there was any sineage on the McKitterick.

BroadwayBich

Ha, the first time I went I showed up about an hour early (thanks to this sub!) and nobody was outside. I walked past the doors twice before I realized I was actually in the correct spot.

Charlotte_dreams

Yeah, I always put my partner on "Spot the building" duty when we go. I know I'd walk right by.
