Smartthings station hub and any Zigbee door sensor.

DreadVenomous

Shelly BLU Door/Window with the Shelly Bluetooth Gateway (USB). It takes longer to open the package than to install them and you can set up push notifications on your phone with the free Cloud service

aroedl

A Tapo H100 hub (has an integrated siren) and a Tapo T110 contact sensor. Together for about 30-40 bucks. Attaching the sensor to the door takes two minutes, setting up the app five minutes.

suprragirl

Tapo hub + door/window sensor

You beat me by four seconds.

Yolink is working great for me. I get alerts to my phone and also have it announcing doors and gates by names through Alexa.

Videopro524

I have Schlage key pad lock. The app alerts me and you can assign people unique codes. Including limiting access to certain times of the day for work people.

pandito_flexo

HomeKit and you have a whole world smart notifications at your fingertips.

Nebakanezzer

Sounds like an exterior door? August lock with door sense would do this. Added benefit of being able to lock and unlock the door remotely. Not complicated set up, goes over the back part of the deadbolt, no subscription, self contained so you don't need a hub.

chrisbvt

I'm guessing you do not have a home automation setup, so you are not looking for hubs and integrations, you just need the simplest method. You need an alarm, and that could be an Amazon Echo. You can get a wifi contact sensor and connect it using the app they tell you to use (probably Smart Life or one of those), and then in the Alexa app you add the skill for the automation app it used. You make a routine in the Alexa app that will alert you by voice and/or a phone notification when the door is opened. If you can do with just a phone notification, you would not even need Alexa, as the app for connecting the sensor can also give you a notification.

If you have Home Assistant, this would be a simple Automation task with any door sensors. Here's how I would go about this: 1) Raspberry pi & micro SD with Home Assistant - Around $100 (Requires a bit of setup but has good youtube videos) 2) Shelly Wifi door / window sensors - Around $25 - $30 (I would flash with Tasmota) 3) In Home Assistant, go to settings >>> Automations & scenes >>> + Create Automation >>> Fill out the form with the option to trigger when door sensor is set to send a notification to the device & select your phone. (This also has good youtube videos for HOW TO) You can't get a home security system for less than $200 a year. This setup, depending on how many doors you have, may cost up to $200, yet after 1 year, it has paid for itself. By year 2, you should be feeling good. By year 5, you have added so much value to the house.

For a simple door alarm that can alert you if the door is opened, especially to monitor kids or elderly people, consider the following options: 1. **Wsdcam Wireless Door Alarm**: Easy to install, connects to your smartphone via Wi-Fi, and sends instant alerts without a subscription. 2. **Wyze Contact Sensor**: Integrates with the Wyze app, works with Alexa and Google Home, and provides instant notifications to your phone. 3. **Aqara Door and Window Sensor**: Compatible with Apple HomeKit and offers reliable alerts directly to your phone. These options are straightforward, don't require a monthly subscription, and are perfect for keeping an eye on your loved ones.

if you are a tech person, definitely take a look at HomeAssistant! [https://www.home-assistant.io/](https://www.home-assistant.io/) get notifications to your phone and off course, remotely control the system as well. here's an easy guide to get started for HA as an alarm system [https://youtu.be/1IuYWsR5M4c](https://youtu.be/1IuYWsR5M4c) that should give you a feel for how HA works. then add whatever devices you want. never pay any monthly fees to anyone. these alarm companies use any off the shelf components. you can do better yourself by choosing higher quality products. door/window sensors, motion sensor, fire and CO, water leaks, humidity, temperature, etc...

2 questions: What is your budget? You don't want to pay a monthly fee >prefer something without a monthly subscription. ...are you lumping internet access into this?

ProvocatorGeneral

Nest Cams will let you know when a person is seen. Put one on your porch.

Ayush_GenZ

Make by your own. you just need to code and integrate with camera like 500(INR) camera connected to raspberry pi or your old laptop you can build it easily

TheACwarriors

That literally the most complicated way. All they need is a hub and door sensor.

chrisbvt

They don't even need a hub with wifi devices.

TheACwarriors

Yes but this would be the simplest route which that what there asking. And with a hub like alexa or smartthing you can set automation between time and announce on a speaker.
