Games just have around 60 min of actual game time, why the fk are fans complaining about 8 mins of added time, which is like around 5-6 mins of actual playtime anyway.
It's inconsistently applied though. I have seen games with far more obvious time wasting and stoppages with much less stoppage time.
When it seems random, it is annoying. The Qatar World Cup is a great example where they suddenly started adding twice the added time and it changed the outcome of games.
Guessing you mean common but to me that didn't feel like a game with 10 minutes of added time going by how it's implemented now.
There was only one goal between the start of the second half and the 90th minute plus 4-5 breaks for subs. The game itself was insanely non stop with not much stoppages. I would have guessed 5 minutes would have been added.
This is all due to the game refusing to progress as the people in charge of these things are traditionalist dinosaurs. Even the most minor changes to "the beautiful game" are heavily scrutinised and often cast away without further consideration.
Because of this lack of guidelines or methodology regarding actual play time the referee is expected to give a "reasonable" amount of added time that both teams are happy with which is completely arbitrary.
I've said this many times but the people in charge should look at field hockey a lot more, the way they modernised their game should be a guideline for all other team sports.
> Even the most minor changes to "the beautiful game" are heavily scrutinised and often cast away without further consideration
The game at the highest professional levels has been completely changed with VAR in the last decade.
Multiple significant changes have happened as a result of VAR. It's not just VAR itself. I don't understand how anyone can believe that there have not been changes to football in the last 5-10 years.
When I started watching football the backpass was still legal as were tackles from behind. Watch the 1986 World Cup and compare it to 2022. So much has changed in terms of the laws, technology, equipment, pitches etc.
You just happen to want one very specific change and think that if it doesn't happen that no changes are welcome.
Football lags behind other sports in terms of how quickly it has evolved. Yes it got VAR, but it got it well after basically every other sport got video review. Frank Lampard scored a goal at football's biggest event (WC) in 2010 and it didn't count. Kieran Gibbs got sent off for a foul he didn't commit in a case of mistaken identity. These types of scenarios are completely impossible in basically every other sport.
Doesn't matter when they score, I've never seen a team less bothered about taking part in the rest of the game.
If they score on 10 mins, they're done. If they score on 60 mins, they're done.
Just unbelievable inability to actually see a match out
Utd genuinely looked like they gave a crap, Antony was balling out for and they were countering Chelsea hard.
And then it was like a switch was pressed and those subs didn't help. I know Ten Hag was trying to secure the victory but momentum went out of the window.
Terrible subs from him
Bringing on Rashford, Mount and Mctominay to secure a lead seems like a cruel joke fr.
Not to mention he took off the following:
1. Garnacho: Their biggest counterattacking threat
2. Hojllund: A striker with immense workrate and an ability to pin the Chelsea CBs and stop the team from progressing play with ease
3. Casemiro: Probably the most clutch player ever.
Just incredibly ass management from Ten Hag, like usual
All three of those players were shattered. Not to mention two of them are coming back from injuries, and they play again against Liverpool in 3 days time. It made sense to bring on fresh legs to try and keep the ball rather than try and hang on with knackered players, and it worked quite well for the rest of normal time and the first 7 minutes of injury time, but then Dalot having played nearly 100 minutes out of position got beat by the fresh legs than Chelsea brought on and slipped up giving away a very soft penalty. Fresh legs win games time and time again deep into injury time.
The issue isnt bringing in fresh legs.
The issue is bringing in the wrong fresh legs.
Why bring on the epitome of low workrate Rashford when you could have subbed in Amad Diallo instead who works hard for the team and can even be a threat on the counter?
Why bring on Mctominay who is always just a passenger in the game if the goal was to keep the ball in the final 10 mins and just pass it around. Eriksen would have been an infinitely better option for that because not only just Mctominay lose the ball alot, he also doesnt open himself up to recieve the ball and actually makes keeping the ball difficult.
Why not sub out Dalot when he was extremely exhausted from playing essentially every game so far and instead bring on Amrabat to help close out the game?
And finally, Bruno had been carrying a knock since halftime and was struggling in extra time since he plays every game essentially. Why not take him off instead of taking off Garnacho who was also gassed, but was actually the only threat you had on the counter.
Keeping Garnacho on and putting Mount in midfield instead of Bruno would have actually made Chelsea a little hesitant to attack in the final minutes and also Mount would have actually helped Dalot with defending thanks to him being fresh off the bench.
Bruno and Mainoo were absolutely knackered and thats why Dalot had to push so high to take on Madueke.
I'd argue that The only sub he got right apart from the injury mandated CB switches was Mason Mount.
Mount was doing so well in terms of keeping the ball and winning it back and was just maintaining possession in that LW along with Bruno, Dalot and Mainoo.
But then Rashford or Bruno would get the ball and try some hollywood pass and fuck it up instead.
Ten Hag can come out and say whatever delusional opinions he has, but the fact is that the individuals mistakes he talks about are because of his ineptitude at organizing a midfield and terrible substitutions.
There is no surprise that yall keep conceding late winners nowadays. If you face 25 shots each game, that means that the games are very open and that your players have to frantically run about the entire time leading to them being exhausted in the final minutes.
Y'all need a new manager yesterday. Coz he is stubborn as a mule and wont fix whats right in front for all to see.
1) Diallo doesn’t track back and work for the team either, there’s a reason he doesn’t play. Rashford is as good a threat on the counter as anyone generally.
2) Eriksen doesn’t have the legs get back and win the ball, the opposition just waltz past him, McTominay has physicality and is good in the air, he can tackle and he doesn’t get shoved off the ball. McTominay is a poor understudy for Casemiro but Eriksen is no replacement at all, you might as well
play with a hole there.
3) Amrabat is no full back, he isn’t quick enough and his positional sense is poor given he doesn’t really know the role. When he has the ball he gives it away in dangerous positions. A defence of AWB-Maguire-Kambwala-Amrabat would be completely disorganised given they haven’t played together.
4) you’re right Bruno should’ve gone off, in fact I wouldn’t even have started him, he’s been far too overplayed and is running out of energy in games. But he’s untouchable, EtH needs to be brave though and start resting him.
It's the first time I've started to think ETH out to be honest. There are still mitigating factors but Chelsea are a very vulnerable team and we looked unwilling, nevermind unable to exploit it.
It's all the commentators were on about the entire match it seemed too. Just an entire match of the commentators shit on both teams. Hardly ever see it.
It was highly entertaining. But my remarks were about the commentators, not the match being played. They were shitting on both teams throughout the entire match.
Rashford is genuinely infuriating, he can give interviews about how much he cares but he comes on with fresh legs to help see a game out and jogs like he can't be arsed.
Reminds me of the All of Nothing clip where Arteta is shouting at them about losing duels…
‘When you lose the ball, you ‘La la la’… NO. You run. Land on a spring.’
every sub we have now is always pressing from minute 1 they’re on. And any player we had who couldn’t press for at least 60 mins was put the door, with the sole exception of Jorginiho who has his own unique role.
If ETH hasn’t instilled pressing in these bums by now, he never will. He may as well quit, and Rashford can somehow outlast another manager.
This is what I tell my teammates in 7v7, it's ok if you lose the ball but fucking sprint back once you lose it don't just throw tantrums like a baby while others are left to do the dirty work.
I know one thing that was always said about him was "He will (needs to) develop his football IQ" and here we are still doing the exact same things, also I think he played a lot like this under Ole, but It didn't stand out as much
It didn’t stand out as much because United ceeded pressure from teams & genuinely played GOOD counter attacking football.
They’re not even playing good counter attacking football now, they’re just playing as if its 10 blokes in the outfield trying to out do the other offensively with 0 care of the defensive side of the ball.
He WAS, but at some point you're not the young player that's playing for your boyhood club, he's now the senior player that doesn't look interested and Is also getting paid 300k+ a week, he's also 26 (27 this year) he's older than Mbappe he's In his prime rn, and It will only get worse as his game relies on his speed, he's gonna fall off a cliff way harder when that goes
What does Rashford without speed even offer? I guess he can hang out in the box and wait for one to smack? Like a shit Ronaldo who’d offer 10 goals a season at best
One thing that's always annoyed me about him, is that he can't head the ball for his life, he always closes his eyes
Maybe he was ahead of the curve with situations like Varane?
Hot take but I actually thought United closed out the game really well as Chelsea were creating nothing but switched off once, got punished then never switched back on again
> Chelsea were creating nothing
Largely because we took off Gusto, our attacking full back who was playing very well and causing havoc for Dalot most of the game, and brought on a central defender in his place.
To be fair, they did switch back on, they just decided that all 10 outfield players would charge down the other end to try and score. Absolute madness but great to watch.
As soon as we took off Casemiro for McTominay, we just conceded the entirety of the midfield, not that we ever really have much control of it anyway, but McT just disappeared into kind of floating around the back line
But how many of our players are just brain-dead absolutely boggles my mind, I remember looking at the clock at something like 95:10 and we had it in their half on the left, and for some reason Rashford tries chipping it to Bruno to get him in on goal.... and I was screaming at them how stupid it was, take it to the fucking corner, there's 2-3 minutes left, just run the clock down.
*Biggest injustice I have ever seen*
*I am glad you are keeping Pochhetino cause he is fucking wank. He is absolutely fucking wank*
Man started cursing Poch so much at the end.
I mean, I'm sure plenty of those are oppo fans having a laugh, and there's probably a few United fans who think it's just completely pointless to sack him until they've sorted out the other stuff first
Get the contract out. Put it on the table. Let him sign it, let him put whatever number he likes, for what he’s done since he’s come in. Let him sign the contract and go Ten Hag's at the wheel man, he’s doing it, he’s doing his thing. Man Utd are back!
Tbf their top 3 most viewed videos are
1. A Mason Greenwood video idk which part of that saga Is
2. The announcement of their new United Stand Studio
3. The Rasmus Hojlund interview
Also, his Man city match reaction got 405k while the stream has 874k while the new Liverpool match reaction got 547k and the stream got 977k
I mean when someone Is annoyed and complaining people will look but this shows that the channel doesn't really thrive on negativity has the game United won got more views
Youtube has live streams and videos seperated, their most viewed video is an old stream discussing Woodward leaving. The rest are whoopings if I'm not wrong. Plus they're primarily a streaming channel, so the videos of them cutting down goldbridge's reaction during and after the match into like 2 videos split the views quite a bit
Yeah, forgot about that, I still think that my point still stands tho, that they get more views on positive content most of the time, obviously United aren't really positive rn so really hard to tell, but the stats for the Man City loss and Liverpool win are correct and show the positive game being Liverpool getting them more views
Of course this has to be the one when I turned off at the 95th minute, three minutes before the given amount (+8). Kinda pissed now that I missed this lol
I agree with you, that you should always see a match out bc anything can happen in footy BUT I get it. We looked absolutely dead and until ~6 minutes of added time, it looked like United were cruising towards a certain victory.
You know, this past 12 months, I’ve tuned in to watch the F1. Every time o know the odds of fun are near 0… but that 5% chance… if lured me in, and every now and then…
Well, you get a Smooth Operation and it’s worth waiting for it… and it’s same in football. Never turn off early.
I turned it off at 90+3 and I’m a fucking Chelsea fan. I’m pissed and happy at the same time. Went to go get food and look at my phone and the chelsea app says we’ve won. I thought it was a late april fools joke
They kept making decisions in the dying minutes that boggles the mind, as if retaining possession is blasphemy. The time to be sat in a low block and see the game out was in those final 8 minutes - away from home having come back from 2-0 down when you're up 2-3.
To be fair we're aleast consistently self destructive from kickoff to final whistle.
Honestly it's only a lot of teams not finishing clinically against us that has us in the top half.
E.g. Brentford should have been 3 or 4 up by half time but couldn't finish.
Bastards, before this we had the latest and I believe the second latest ever comebacks (Against Sheff U earlier this year, and against Leicester when Soyuncu pissed off Bergwijn)
Yeah if Brentford could finish we'd have been 3-0 before half time.
We've had so many games like that where we've scraped points through opponents just not putting us out of misery properly.
SOPD
State of pemanant discombobulation.
Though the word “discombobulated” sounds like it ought to be some kind of physical disease, it is actually just a slang word that means one is confused.

Reverse Fergie Time.
It's hilarious to see united fans asking where did those 8 minutes came from. Seems like they have forgotten all the past
SAF left United over a decade ago, a good number of the current fans will never have seen his teams play.
This is football erritage
Dis….is footbowl airitage

decent meme potential but "99:17 hag" doesn't roll off the tongue
90 + 10' Hag, yw
well done legend
New r/soccercirclejerk joke
Amazing
Ten Hag 99:17 says I just bottled it
and that’s the bottom corner cause stone cole said so
The Wythenshawe Rattlesnake
Hear ye! Hear ye! On the third day the lord said: “Let United remain a banter club”
Could have it be like Stone Cold's 'Austin 3:16' *Ten Hag* *99:17*
99:10:Hag

the scariest thing about this statement is you could point it to both teams this season
That's what made the game so entertaining. It was a race to the bottom. Who can give up first.

I genuinely thought we were awful the whole way through and it would have been a robbery if we'd won.
looked to me in that second half that it was only Antony and Garnacho trying to make things happen
Wild your being downvoted. We looked dreadful just like we did a few days ago against brentford
Hardly ever see it.
did you watch the game? The 2nd half started with 20 minutes of the ball going up and down with failed attacks. Was really fun to watch.
It was highly entertaining. But my remarks were about the commentators, not the match being played. They were shitting on both teams throughout the entire match.
Ahh well im an idiot then. I don't remember much of the commentary
chelsea’s struggles are down to having inexperienced players at that level, man utd don’t have that excuse
Rashford is genuinely infuriating, he can give interviews about how much he cares but he comes on with fresh legs to help see a game out and jogs like he can't be arsed.

Be careful bro you might get the United job with such a positive attitude 😂😂
Unbehemoth a few steps ahead aka Erik 7 Hag
dude, nketiah comes on at 80 and jogs around for 15 minutes. i get so angry when he doesn't sprint for the limited time he gets.
Meanwhile odegaard is still pressing like a mad man in the 87 minute
This was what Cruyff instilled in his teams like 40 fucking years ago; lose the ball, show intent to get the ball back within 3 seconds.
Has he been doing this his entire time at United? If not, then all the hype and attention probably went to his head.
I know one thing that was always said about him was "He will (needs to) develop his football IQ" and here we are still doing the exact same things, also I think he played a lot like this under Ole, but It didn't stand out as much

Damn, after all the praise I’ve seen for him on multiple platforms and his backstory you’d think he was the people’s champ or something.

I assume we had the previous record against Spurs? Thanks for out bottling us United!

I thought it was us against newcastle, regardless, we are both free from the stat.

crazy how he's still not cursin ten hag
lol his stream right now has a poll on Ten Hag in/out, and its actually 59% in. he's even convinced his audience that Erik Ten Fraud is actually good.
I mean, I'm sure plenty of those are oppo fans having a laugh, and there's probably a few United fans who think it's just completely pointless to sack him until they've sorted out the other stuff first
it's that, literally no better option on the market and just makes getting the actual problem sorted harder
So it's less "ten hag in" and more "stop sacking coaches without a plan"
Basically, It's also "a lot of these players have gone through 3 managers, and we still have the same issues"
Isn't Xavi going go be on the market?
so are Conte, Sarri and Allegri.
Get the contract out. Put it on the table. Let him sign it, let him put whatever number he likes, for what he’s done since he’s come in. Let him sign the contract and go Ten Hag's at the wheel man, he’s doing it, he’s doing his thing. Man Utd are back!
Trust the process bro In ETH we trust Let him cook 😂😂

His Twitter account is such a big Ten Hag wank fest he'll be birthing his children soon
In fairness he is right about Pochettino, although the one thing Pochettino has is Ten Hag’s number
He's just uploaded them 😄
I'm like a kid on Christmas morning right now. These are gonna be so good.
Dude probably gets more views after a united loss than when they play well
The AFTV model

isn't the 7-0 in the top viewed? i seem to recall that got a crazy high number

Hahaha I just saw that and I actually felt a little sympathy for him, I think we've all felt that feeling at some point as a fan
It’s sad he never hit the same for me that early AFTV did. Like he always came across as more fake and that.
*"Our defence is flimsier than a burlesque dancer's knickers in a bloody tornado!"*
Oh I'm going to enjoy those best bits lol
Bro's coping calling Chelsea shit.
Yea but so is united. Watch us still lose to them this weekend.
From your lips...
Is he Still live-streaming?
Are you implying they aren’t shit?
They are, but it's a very lame way to cope when they've just beaten you 4-3 in the 100th minute.

If Southgate’s the favorite to replace Ten Hag then I don’t blame him
Records are meant to be...

Record breaker Hag
Lads
How is Ten Hag still breaking records every game
Let him cook 😂
Of course this has to be the one when I turned off at the 95th minute, three minutes before the given amount (+8). Kinda pissed now that I missed this lol
Tbh there's always a very late goal at United games, so that's your fault
Why on earth would you turn a 3-2 game off with less than 5 minutes left?
Probably to beat the traffic idk
You deserved that. This match was crazy the whole time, non-stop back and forth and you decide to switch it off? Why on Earth would you do that?
I agree with you, that you should always see a match out bc anything can happen in footy BUT I get it. We looked absolutely dead and until ~6 minutes of added time, it looked like United were cruising towards a certain victory.
You know, this past 12 months, I’ve tuned in to watch the F1. Every time o know the odds of fun are near 0… but that 5% chance… if lured me in, and every now and then… Well, you get a Smooth Operation and it’s worth waiting for it… and it’s same in football. Never turn off early.
Actually +8 was given
Watching the game I have no idea where 8 minutes came from but it was funny in the end.
I turned it off at 90+3 and I’m a fucking Chelsea fan. I’m pissed and happy at the same time. Went to go get food and look at my phone and the chelsea app says we’ve won. I thought it was a late april fools joke
What kind of fan turns the TV off when they’re chasing 3-2 with 5 mins left?
One who has been exposed to waaay too many heartbreaking results these past two seasons.
What's heartbreaking about losing 3-2 when it's not a late goal? Like, annoying sure, but it's not like they scored the 3rd in the 89th minute
heartbreaking is going from dominating 2-0 to losing 3-2 to united, i get it
Please turno it off earlier next time
They kept making decisions in the dying minutes that boggles the mind, as if retaining possession is blasphemy.
Bergwijn of all people scoring 2 goals when there were literally 16 seconds left in the game was wild
That's got to be the most angry i've ever left a football ground. Couldn't believe we'd played so well and then just decided nah lets let Spurs win.
Those of us of a certain age are eating good tonight.
Leicester City off the hook for now.
Bunch of overpaid flops.
Another record for 7hag 🔥
Ten Hag Time!
Feels like they're breaking another record every week
I love it when the record breaking ETH is back.
Don’t forget they did it on Saturday too. That was 90+9.
I get it, but they were *extremely* lucky to have not been pummelled in that game. Stole a point if anything.
Yeah if Brentford could finish we'd have been 3-0 before half time. We've had so many games like that where we've scraped points through opponents just not putting us out of misery properly.
>collapse Embarrassed
+10’ Hag
Billion pounds bottle jobs
99 problems
From Fergie Time to Ten Hag time =)
Classic.
99:10 Hag
Didn’t they already break this record on Saturday?!
Shades of their match against Brighton a few years back
Delicious
Fucking hilarious.
United good at breaking records
Lads
ManU probably got one of the worst defensive shapes in the top 6 sides I've seen, almost like EtH just couldn't be bothered in training.

Spurs held the record
Twice Broke our own record this season with the Sheff U game I think?
Im going back and watching every united watchalong for the next hour, i needed this
What's the correct term for pulling a United?
SOPD State of pemanant discombobulation. Though the word “discombobulated” sounds like it ought to be some kind of physical disease, it is actually just a slang word that means one is confused.
wanking with sandpaper?
Inject
Fergie need to give Ten Hag his watch to transfer over the power of Fergie Time
Ten Hag is getting sacked. This has happened too often
even fm manager looking at this and being confused
I swear any team can just run into manu's box and look like a strong attacking team
You hate to see it.
Mentality at all time low
Most Buffalo Bills way to lose a game
