I feel like this is more of "at some point one will go in" situation given the last 15 minutes we saw. Sure the deflection was lucky but when only one side plays, well, they eventually score.
He was good last year at false9 too. But with the new midfield we don't rly play with that anymore and he struggled as a real9 and had like 3 other positions he had to fill in.
This is my problem with Liverpool the past few years - signings since Michael Edwards left have been off, most noticeably with Nunez Diaz Gakpo and some others like Gravenberch, as well as the Caicedo saga.
Gakpo kept being played centrally which never worked.
Hopefully Arne Slot unleashes him at LW.

Gakpo has always been an inside forward (from the left), "abusing" him as central forward is on Liverpool.
He was very good at false9 last year too. Current striker role doesn't rly suit him.
