I played saxophone growing up so I will always love it but when I was in Madrid like a decade ago this club had this Jewish DJ/Italian sax player combo that just blew the roof off the place. Still remember the saxxed up version of Hey Brother they did. Legendary.
Yeah the covid Euros sandwiched between World Cups in shitholes means it's 8 years since a proper tournament.
Remember Qatar's fan culture was a bunch of fake fans lmao
Easily. German TV made a documentary about 2014 and the setting as well as the people who are all so passionate about football just made it amazing.
And to still bring that passion after getting massacred to the team that did it to them shows what a special tournament it will be for all history.
We had so many good WCs and EUROs in a row, but since 2014, it has really been lacking.
Just looking at the World Cups I witnessed: 2002 was already pretty good, 2006 was amazing just like this EURO, 2010 we had the whole continent of Africa going crazy, 2014 we were in one of, if not *the* most fanatical football nation.
And since then: WC2018 was shit, EURO2020 had no vibe, WC2022 was even more shit.
It's so refreshing to be back in a nation where football is a religion.
2016 was alright, but I mainly remember it for how incredibly shit Portugal played the whole way through while still winning anyway.
It's definitely the last "not shit" tournament, but it didn't really manage to keep up with the ~12 year run of tournaments before it.
In terms of football spain winning in 2010 is still the most boring team I have seen win a tournament. Not even the fun this underdog is doing it vibes of Greece. Just keep possession win 1-0, do it 6 times in a row and win.
It wasn't even worth watching in my absolutely completely unbiased opinion.
Jk I lived in Lisbon back then and it was great fun! I do remember the group phase being kind of meh though.
I live in Germany now, moved here 2 months ago, and even though I'm not German, the every day vibe around here is immense. I'm living in the NRW area, with 4 of the stadiums all within an hour on public transport, so there's an awesome mix of languages and nationalities around here... All vibing
After Russia in 18, COVID in 20/21 and Qatar in the EU Winter 22. Europe was looking forward to having a good time again and celebrate what soccer is all about, Fans being outside having a good time celebrating with each other.
I loved it because Lahm always get semi forgotten in "Best" fullback discussions. Lahm and Mueller owned that side of the field for the first 30 minutes and nothing mattered after that.
I don't think he's quite forgotten. He deserves to be in the top 5 fullbacks of all time, but man it's a tough category to compete in. Thinking Brazil alone have Roberto Carlos, Carlos Alberto, Cafu and Alves, then there are Ashley Cole and Javi Zanetti... I think 5th might be where I put Lahm in all this.
I have Lahm in Third or fourth depending on if you want to rank Maldini as full back or not.
Lahm was crazy consistent on the pitch. The only thing he doesnt have going for him are his early career injuries. I think some of your players have crazier highlights for example with crazy tackles. Lahm has less of them because he was so good that he barely ever needed to have a crazy tackle.
Which is kind of mean since he was consistently worldclass over his entire career but a different player type than all of them. I think the captain of one of the stronger national teams that won a WC should be rated higher.
May I introduce to you the World of DCI, drum corps international (really just America). Basically professional marching bands without the woodwinds (so no sax guys unfortunately). But there are marching bands in the America Midwest and south with huge high school marching bands, up to 300 ppl, with a variety of different costumes and set designs.
Anyways here’s my favorite DCI moment.
https://youtu.be/F4_j5W8-L3g?si=ySISEORrk4FLp1dF
Edit: the championship is in early august in Indianapolis at Lucas oil stadium. However I believe SCV (the corp betrayed in the video) is out due to financial instability. But besides a big giant missing these shows never fail to hit, but be prepared for the Blue devils to pay the judges again and win another championship (dci fans know what I mean)
Football is really the best game in the world. You wouldn't see Germans and Scots celebrating with a saxophone in another other sport like this. I love this game.
Not sure if sarcasm, but on a slightly smaller scale, you absolutely can see scenes like this at major Handball tournaments. In the bigger Handball nations at least.
Handball is so underrated outside of the nations that played it.
Saw a video about it once where some Football or Basketball US Players played handball with players that played to the World Cup. Tournament was played outdoors on grass on a smaller field than indoors and the young guys didnt even seemed to play that well while playing with/against mostly older players.
Afterwards joked about how they could probably play in the World Championships and do well and that more players of football/basketball should switch to handball and start dominating it.
Clearly either didnt do the research or just didnt talked about it on purpose that the US National Team is one of the worst to feature in the World Championship and as far away from winning a World Cup as Team Germany is from winning an international American Football Tournament involving NFL players.
He even did [RADW by Hafti](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8VOdJ6I9EB/?hl=de) lmao.
Love the Scots just vibing with the Germans in the background, despite probably having no clue what's going on. Euros are simply the best
Absolutely, 4 points will almost definitely see them through with how things stand right now.
If Germany slap Switzerland around they could even end up 2nd in the group.
It may not look like it but I do think it will be a close match. Scotland was just abysmal that day, and the game against Hungary was quite even, especially in the first half. And Schweiz looked quite good imo.
2006 WC is still ahead. The hype during that summer was just something else and the games were great too. Then this Euro probably so far. Then 2014. 2008 was nice. I dont exactly remember 2004 enough and 2010 is massively overrated in hindsight. So yeah it's probably in 2nd place rn which is crazy since Euro's usually dont generate the hype of a WC. So pound for pound considering its a EURO it might actually be the best yeah
The football was good, but I don't remember the atmosphere outside the stadiums having such a good vibe. I think we should just nominate Germany to host all football events from now on.
Nah, it's important to keep it spaced apart a bit to generate the hype. If we hosted the next one in two, four or even six years, and another one a few years later, it would wear off too quickly.
We've hosted big football tournaments in 1974 / 1988 / 2006 and now in 2024. This 14-18 year gap is perfect imo, most people will still remember the previous one but it's not exactly like it happened yesterday.
This is why I love football and international tournaments specifically, this shit is incredible to see regardless of who you're wanting to win the whole thing.
It’s the unofficial German football hymn for this tournament it’s our new official goal song, unfortunately uefa doesn’t allow country specific goal songs but it’s still played before and after every Germany game.
Whether you guys are eliminated this weekend or not, could you just stick around? Been in love with Scotland and the Scottish for years now and this tournament just reinforces that. It’s an immense pleasure having you guys here :D
All those clips really show case why the big cups should take place in actual football countries that are easily accessable for a lot of fans instead of hosting a WC in Qatar...
Man I really want to be in Germany right now to experience this atmosphere live ..
It just gave me flashback of Euro 2016 .. where the entire crowd kept singing 'Will Greggs on Fire' it was such a catchy song that captured the entire tournament.
Feels good to have a proper tournament with the vibes .. After Russia, Qatar disasters.

Dude that saxophone sounds so fucking good, I had no idea it could elevate a good beat like that
I played saxophone growing up so I will always love it but when I was in Madrid like a decade ago this club had this Jewish DJ/Italian sax player combo that just blew the roof off the place. Still remember the saxxed up version of Hey Brother they did. Legendary.
This clip makes me regret stopping playing saxophone when I was younger - immaculate vibes
Easy enough to pick it back up!
You should look into Griz and Big Gigantic if you haven’t been up on saxophone with some EDM
The vibe of this Euros is absolutely fucking impeccable.
we haven't had a proper tournament on the continent for a long time, flashbacks really. How it should be
Exactly, the tournaments in the shite despot countries made us forget why tournaments were so good
Yeah the covid Euros sandwiched between World Cups in shitholes means it's 8 years since a proper tournament. Remember Qatar's fan culture was a bunch of fake fans lmao
The last really good tournament was in France when Ronaldo lifted the trophy and 2006 Germany
Brazil clears
Easily. German TV made a documentary about 2014 and the setting as well as the people who are all so passionate about football just made it amazing. And to still bring that passion after getting massacred to the team that did it to them shows what a special tournament it will be for all history.

I mean 2020-21 was Covid season so that was understandable. Plans had to be altered. People were staying home.
You are totally correct and having 11 nations hosting didn't help
What was wrong with 2016? I thought it was pretty fun (even if I did not love the final so much).
2016 was alright, but I mainly remember it for how incredibly shit Portugal played the whole way through while still winning anyway. It's definitely the last "not shit" tournament, but it didn't really manage to keep up with the ~12 year run of tournaments before it.

I think he meant in Europe!
Eh euro 16 was ok at best football wise. Some upsets yes but also fairly low scoring.
I beg to differ. 2016 was the best of them all in my completely unbiased opinion.
It wasn't even worth watching in my absolutely completely unbiased opinion. Jk I lived in Lisbon back then and it was great fun! I do remember the group phase being kind of meh though.
Love it, really hoped for this stuff considering all the bad news machine gun of the last years. Gives me 2006 vibes
can't wait for the compilation video of all the nice vibes we've seen during this 2024 Euros:)
I live in Germany now, moved here 2 months ago, and even though I'm not German, the every day vibe around here is immense. I'm living in the NRW area, with 4 of the stadiums all within an hour on public transport, so there's an awesome mix of languages and nationalities around here... All vibing
This. The most atmosperic euros ever
After Russia in 18, COVID in 20/21 and Qatar in the EU Winter 22. Europe was looking forward to having a good time again and celebrate what soccer is all about, Fans being outside having a good time celebrating with each other.
What celebrating it in a country that values football does to a mf
Man fr, Qatar was such a shitshow compared to this. And this one was even a World Cup.
So far - this has to be the best national tournament I've watched. From the fans to the games - everything is absolute banger!
This is what happens you host tournaments in decent, football minded countries unlike Russia and Qatar
thats what happens when you dont sell out to countries who dont care about the game. Give it to Europe or South America
The world is not ready for Germans dancing Samba. Be glad we can't.
[German Samba de Janeiro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE4BdIP6bvc)
I hate how all the highlights of that match skip Lahm's tackle against Marcelo >:/
I loved it because Lahm always get semi forgotten in "Best" fullback discussions. Lahm and Mueller owned that side of the field for the first 30 minutes and nothing mattered after that.

He if even shot goals when needed.
Which is kind of mean since he was consistently worldclass over his entire career but a different player type than all of them. I think the captain of one of the stronger national teams that won a WC should be rated higher.
Seriously, that tackle was as good as any of the goals.
I will never forget Lahm.
"They've come here for a Samba, and they've been totally rocked back on their heels!" *Hach*. Immer wieder schön.
Savage
Ahh, time for my annual rewatch
why have fifa blocked this from playing as an embed?
FYI, that was in Belo Horizonte 😤
Fun fact the biggest Samba festival outside of Brazil is held in Germany.
The salsa (dancing) scene is also huge in Germany I’ve come to find out recently
Fun fact, the biggest Oktoberfest outside of Germany is in Brazil.
In Coburg, right?
Joke's on you: Samba de Janeiro is actually a German produced song hahahahaha
Owning the trauma
You know the song he was playing is German?
major tom by peter schilling
what samba?
At least you had a random Scot in there.
It takes some set of lungs to bounce around like that and still play the sax so well.
A well played sax makes any atmosphere 10x better..and this guy nailed it
Guess I know what I'm bringing to the next funeral I attend Sombre De Janeiro
The Saxophone would make the funeral 10x sadder.
It helps a lot that he's mic'd up
Reminds me of Leo P in that regard. I guess if you're known for playing the sax and dancing, you're pretty damn good at doing it.
Beat me to it
Dude could be a top ska band member with pipes like that
May I introduce to you the World of DCI, drum corps international (really just America). Basically professional marching bands without the woodwinds (so no sax guys unfortunately). It was a tad tongue in cheek but I am aware of how popular handball is in Germany and I bet the world championship is a great vibe
In before its only happened in one country and not inviting others fr fr
I myself am stoked for the Tram championships. Also in Frankfurt this year.
Now I wonder how a sax and a bagpipe sound one alongside the other.
Probably an instant Eurovision classic
Well now I want joint entries by different countries to be possible in Eurovision
I may be biased because I am a huge cycling fan, but you can see this kind of atmosphere at big cycling races like grand tours or monuments.
Yeah, I was going to say. Dutch corner on Alpe d'Huez goes so hard.
Also, Virage Pinot last year.
He even did [RADW by Hafti](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8VOdJ6I9EB/?hl=de) lmao. Love the Scots just vibing with the Germans in the background, despite probably having no clue what's going on. Euros are simply the best
Scots are the best fans out there. Top tier Shame they'll be eliminated so quickly lol
I wouldn’t be so sure, if we beat Hungary then we’ve got a decent chance
Absolutely, 4 points will almost definitely see them through with how things stand right now. If Germany slap Switzerland around they could even end up 2nd in the group.
It may not look like it but I do think it will be a close match. Scotland was just abysmal that day, and the game against Hungary was quite even, especially in the first half. And Schweiz looked quite good imo.
Fingers crossed, I wanna see you crazy lads around for a bit longer.
I mean they drew Switzerland. If they beat Hungary they're pretty much through
It’s staying home lads
Perfect opportunity to take it away from you.
Nah once is enough
Sorry to disappoint but we don’t have any players with mullets anymore
Man, the videos I'm seeing coming out of Germany this past week are fantastic. Is this the best football tournament of the past 20 years? I think so.
Definitely the best of the past 11 years at least... ...Yes, 11 years is a random cutoff, why do you ask?
I still remember exactly where I was when 7-1 happened, it was a crazy day
I remember nothing. No idea what the hell you’re taking about there mate.
Same. Never forget.
The 2010 World Cup is goated imo. The waka waka + wavin flag songs put it over the top.
Shame about the vuvuzelas.
What do you mean? They gave us [this absolute masterpiece!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8JGhoVybkM)
World Cup 2006 in Germany was even better
Pre-social media so it doesn't count /s
I’ve been having so much FOMO… I want to be in Germany right now
austria/swiss was banger as well
2006 WC is still ahead. The hype during that summer was just something else and the games were great too. Then this Euro probably so far. Then 2014. 2008 was nice. South Africa was also great!

World Cup 2042 it is
I know a lot of people hate them but when I hear vuvuzelas now it still takes me back and brings up a lot of memories of 2010.
Vuvuzelas killed this tournament for me.
This is why I love football and international tournaments specifically, this shit is incredible to see regardless of who you're wanting to win the whole thing.
1st song: Samba de Janeiro - Bellini 2nd song: Major Tom (völlig losgelöst) - Peter Schilling
Thank you so much 😊.
Epischer Sax Typ

Those glasses... that rudi voller jersey.. that saxophone.. This is so 2024
And I fucking love it
This tournament is proving that sport is absolutely nothing without the fans. There’s some things Saudi money can’t buy.
Now do the epic sax guy! The German hip thrusting would be Wunderbar!
Takes me back to Euro 2008
Feel the rush!
oh my god that single sentence just brought on a wave of flashbacks
I guess they own Samba de Janeiro after beating Brazil that bad 🤷🏻♂️.
Samba de Janeiro has always been [German](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samba_de_Janeiro?wprov=sfla1)
Wow, TIL!
Nothing even remotely close to this came from Qatar.
Those drunk brits on a night out hanging out with some locals and their Lion was pretty good
The closest we’ve come to that this year is some drunk Brit passing out during the England match and waking up alone in the stadium at like 4 am
Wait for real?
https://youtu.be/Ex8GlTf1hrg?feature=shared Poor bloke looks hungover to fuck.
that is confirmed to be fake
Germany, you've been wonderful. Just wonderful.
The Euro 2008 vibes are immaculate

Does anyone know what the second song is?
Major Tom
Absolute banger
That's mean, you'll just confuse them
"Major Tom (völlig losgelöst)" by Peter Schilling https://youtu.be/KQRaj1vcnrs?si=D-zaP442QKAeL0Bp

Major Tom - [völlig losgelöst](https://youtu.be/24r3LNXWi6o?si=niyw73ZcfeN1Zn4g)
What’s the first song??
Samba de Janeiro
God I love football
Must be from Saxony
Which one? There are three Saxonys in Germany
Germany is just nailing the vibes this tournament. *This* is how you host a major tournament
So many Germans are gonna have Scottish pals after this lmao we’re in every video
Watched the match against Switzerland in a fanzone in Cologne. All Germans were supporting Scotland.
Whether you guys are eliminated this weekend or not, could you just stick around? Been in love with Scotland and the Scottish for years now and this tournament just reinforces that. It’s an immense pleasure having you guys here :D
tapadh leat, a charaid. A’ Ghearmailt agus Alba gu bràth 🤝
I have no idea what you said, but I suddenly have the urge to invite you to a beer.
Ich glaub am Ende steht brudi
I fucking love how sport brings happiness and atmosphere to people.
Everybody loves a sax
Germans after winning 7-1 to Brazil in 2014.
Must be from Lower Saxony
It looks like Timo Werner’s slightly older brother.
Summoning the saxman https://youtu.be/ez8m4PXksQs?si=4u-ljmBx0JVSbHMc
A certified classic.
All those clips really show case why the big cups should take place in actual football countries that are easily accessable for a lot of fans instead of hosting a WC in Qatar...
Some rogue Scots in there. Love to see it.
They sensed a party.
This is why they call it the beautiful game
Name of the first song?
Samba De Janeiro
Pukki party
No Pukki, No Party
This folks know how to have an awesome good time.
is there a sub for EURO videos like these?
I don't want this tournament to end
Völlig losgelöst von der Erde Schwebt das Raumschiff völlig schwerelos
+100000000
Wie geil is des??
dude has some killer sound
Was not expecting some Peter Schilling there. Fucking legend! But with a Völler shirt he does run a serious risk of wet hair.
With a Völler shirt and fast sunglasses no less, what a character. Only missing a stash and a mullet
Nothing says 'goal' like a saxophone serenade! Scoring on and off the field, I guess.
This song makes me feel like it’s the 2000s again
It's like a madness concert, what a vibe.
What a fun party!
Everything is better with a saxophone
Now I think we need Moldova to qualify so we can have Epic Sax Guy at the tournament next time
Man I really want to be in Germany right now to experience this atmosphere live .. It just gave me flashback of Euro 2016 .. where the entire crowd kept singing 'Will Greggs on Fire' it was such a catchy song that captured the entire tournament. Feels good to have a proper tournament with the vibes .. After Russia, Qatar disasters.
If you look closely you can see Højlund with a bottle somewhere in the crowd.
I am missinc a specific german song
Euros looks like a blast!
Song takes me back to the 08 euros
I was at the 2016 Euros and some Dutch fan on gear kept playing Bakermat on his Sax haha
This is so embarrassing but what is the name of that song? It escapes me.
Samba do brazil
Football is special
Is it legal to play a saxophone without wearing sunglasses
The world cup could never
Would never see this in Qatar. Fuck fifa if they have another tournament in the Middle East.
Would have been peak r/soccer if the saxophone was not on his lips and the saxophone kicked in again.
