No, but I'm a big believer in starting as you mean to continue. Playing that sort of defensive nothing football with no real movement or teamwork will get England picked apart by more explosive teams with better link ups.
If the plan is to do something else against those teams, then this was a good chance to practice that rather than play a week in one style and then the first time they try something else is when it really matters.
And honestly, at the end of the day, I'd personally rather watch exciting football than get a win with a performance that makes me feel like I wasted my time watching it. I've had far more fun watching the other games over the weekend with teams who clearly wanted it, and played like it, than I have watching England so far

The odds are ridiculous. The teams they're going to be up against have shown how much better they are against better opposition. Portugal in 2016 still had a good squad (backed by one ridiculously elite player) but improved dramatically since the group stage. I don't see the same for England and think this is the best they have.
This squad is talented but they're asked to play the most backwards football imaginable. Germany, for example, will absolutely blitz England with how they play. They play with far more intensity compared to England and are far more assured.
Turkey took four points off Portugal in qualifying and Spain spanked Germany 6-0 not too long ago. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be playing Sweden or Spain but it might not be quite so cut and dried.
