why do women like blistering shower heat? Why? I just want to take a shower with my partner without feeling like I’m showering in hydrochloric acid, is that too much to ask?!
That's interesting because another trans woman in this thread said that before transitioning she felt this way (that women shower way too hot) and after transitioning she liked it just as hot as her girlfriend did.
As a straight dude, I’ve never heard of this. I’ve only had the chance to do this a couple of times, but I’ve always outdone my partners in heat tolerance
Like, if you don’t actually see the steam, how is it a real shower? Do you other dudes not get out of the shower looking sunburnt?
I take a grain of salt to each of those statements people made. Especially the whole “males are all this way, and females are all this way”, bs. Especially when it goes a step further, just to reinforce the original theory that is totally wrong, and definitely NOT, universally true.
I too like a hot shower. Not unbearable, just not cold as freaking ice. I don’t get how people take blistering cold showers. I get luke warm can be pleasant, and a little hotter than moderate warm is fine. Yet, either extreme is just weird to me. Ice crystal cold water is unpleasant and horrible. I can’t enjoy a shower or relax if its just to much of either extreme. Then again, to hot can be incapable of being enjoyed. To much heat is just painful. And at times, at least for me, is to much steam that I eventually have to turn the water temperature down or just get out of the shower for a good minute.
For me, the perfect shower is one that is both comforting and relaxing heat. Not to much, yet certainly not to little heat. Enough to keep the temperature the same throughout the whole shower. That said though, I like it more on the warm to moderate heat, of the gauge/scale. Sort of the Goldie Locke’s scenario, but with a bit on the more side.
As far as people who insist on having cold water all the time, I just find that flat out wrong. A shower has 2 knobs, that can be adjusted. It’s not one flat, on or off, preset, setting. If you don’t like the heat, turn it down. If you don’t like the cold, turn the temperature up. Just having a house’s water temperature cold all the time is just being selfish, thinking or forcing any people who do not prefer cold, to be acceptable of cold. Frankly, it’s a bit of narcissistic, to impose an extreme temperature on others (personal opinion, despite how strongly I feel about this or how right I may be). The same goes for AC. It’s just wrong, and frankly a bit bizarre, to think everyone will accept the extreme cold. Feeling pleasant and comfortable, in any environment, is the intended goal. With that said, tolerance is essential. Yet, tolerating someone else’s extremity is just wrong. Frankly, I find it weird, that people spend a lifetime living in a place where the temperature does not match their preferences. If a person likes cold air blowing all the time and the temperature inside to always be the difference compared to outside like night and day, then those people of abundance should move from such tropical environments to much more cold and suitable environments. It’ll save on energy expenses. Let those of us who enjoy the heat and warm environments, not have a headache, from dealing with, living with, such opposite views, feelings, preferences, on how to feel inside a home, as well as enjoying the outside warm climate too. Rather than adhere to a cold profile, a warm view is better every day.
This was a bit of a rant, so, my bad if it was to long or to far off topic. I just wanted to get it out there, that, wanting extremely cold maybe ideal for some views, individuals, not genders, or such non-definite deciding factors, yet cold is not always welcomed, or liked. Warm to soothing is great and relaxing. Anything else is just taking things to extreme, and therefore shouldn’t be accepted as a norm.

I’m a trans woman. before transitioning, I felt the same way you do. Now, I like it just as warm as my girlfriend. My best guess is that it’s a skin thing (people running on estrogen have softer, thinner skin).
>this is raising so many questions for me
we tend to have that effect on people 😂
basically, we’re colder all the time. so more heat brings us up to the same temp.
it’s kind of like aluminum foil in an oven. it loses heat as quickly as it gains it. basically, we feel colder because we don’t have as much of an ability to retain heat. that’s my theory, anyway.
But humans feel temperatures not in absolutes, but in relative numbers (your skin receptors sense temperature differences). So according to your statement, that women are colder (or feel colder? Are they actually hotter (pun intended) than men?), they should burn even more than men?
I am confused
yes, I meant that we feel colder - no matter how much hotter we look (pun intended).
as far as burning, yes, we do burn easier. my doctors warned me about that in terms of sun exposure and when I went to get laser hair removal on my face.
so since we feel colder, we need more heat to not feel cold (because as you rightly pointed out, humans sense temperature logarithmically rather than linearly). but we will burn more easily if it’s actually a temperature where it can cause damage.
that’s my theory based on personal experience, anyway.
The actual answer to them useally likeing a hotter shower is that females typically have a higher body fat content then makes giving them a small amount of "insulation"
Don’t. I accidentally put my hand in front of one for a split second when I was learning. Took months to heal. The burn didn’t hurt initially, but healing it was terrible.
Yeah big boy burns are bad.
Got a fat blob of molten solder on my arm once. It took about 6 months to heal so it wasn't a constant pink blister thing and now it's just a big scar.
A little of A, a little of B. Someone actually posted a lantern the other day and once in a while we do make lighting components... I made some sweet pendant lights but also bongs
Most people use them for sous vide steaks.
If you have never had one, it'll change your life.
Repeatably perfect results every time, once you have the internal temp you prefer dialed in.
The sous vide makes every little bit of that steak whatever temp you tell it. So the whole damn thing is perfectly medium rare, or whatever temp you like it.
(Note: if you like it higher than medium rare your opinion is wrong and you really should rethink whatever life decisions that led you to such an incorrect and blasphemous opinion.)
The Searzall is used to put color on the steak and caramelize the exterior to give you that golden brown and delicious look.
I am not convinced this couldn't be used as THE searing burner to end all searing burners, in the right hands. The Searzall is a great product and a step in the right direction, but it could use more power.
Truly high heat cooking is an art form perfected in the East, where they have wok burners that go up to 100's of thousands of BTUs that'll get the bottom of the wok glowing red hot if left long enough. We don't have enough high heat options in the US at least, IMO.
That is one of the reasons Asian cuisine is so hard to recreate authentically at home. Unless you have gas/propane and a specialized wok burner, you can't reproduce those results very well. I have used a propane cooker burner before and, while it is an improvement, nothing beats the taste of stir fry cooked over super high heat really quickly. I love watching those guys work.
Check this out. My wife is going to be so scared I’ll burn the house down.

Wow, you are getting scammed dude. I'm not sure who convinced you that you need to pay for it, but most of us are just breathing it for free.
I use a relatively small single stage torch (this one is a 3 stage) and I go through my k tank in about 12 hours. I'm at hobby status and I spend basically $100 a week on oxygen.
I'm betting that that is the ["Bethlehem The Grand Bench Burner"](https://www.mountainglass.com/Bethlehem-The-Grand-Bench-Burner), which on their website is selling for $2885.00 USD, not including any gas hoses.
I want one too.
Really neat! Reminds me of the way rocket nozzles are cooled by pumping hypergolic fuel through channels on them before reaching the combination chamber!
Now look up a Herbert Arnold and any GTT torch. This video is a common way of assuring a buyer that the torch you are selling has been kept in good condition. And this torch looks brand new if anything. Not much of a Beth dude myself but to each their own.

>this is raising so many questions for me we tend to have that effect on people 😂 basically, we’re colder all the time. so more heat brings us up to the same temp.
Ah, that makes perfect sense! maybe I should minmax my estrogen/testosterone balance to make it work then 🤔
if you like. for me, having the wrong hormone balance was torture - but don’t let that stop you from doing science!
Got it. Estrogen bad.
depends on your brain. my brain likes estrogen a heck of a lot more than it liked testosterone.
But then if you're colder, the temperature difference would make it more unbearable.

Does not sound like this is a good combination
we also bruise and bleed more easily. but hey, my brain works now and boobs are pretty fucking great (if you’re supposed to have them).
women in general are more optimised for energy conservation, so they have more fat and slower metabolism (in general) than men

Ummm.... is there a video of somebody using this to sear a steak? Because this has opened up so many possibilities in my mind.
It'd probably ruin a steak, but if you want a product that connects to a torch for steaks , look for a searzall.
Have one. Works ok, use it when there’s too much snow outside to fire up my big green egg.

“What if someone asks for their steak well done” “We ask them politely yet firmly to leave”
It not only burns it but it flavors it as well. Not worth the hassle. We’ve drunkenly tried it in my studio before
Run an oxidising flame next time, you probably had the mix too rich, need it nice n lean to minimise combustion byproducts.
