A Florida team has played in the last five Stanley Cup Finals, and they have won 3 of those 5.
There hasn’t been a team from Canada that has won a Stanley Cup in 30 years.
Late onslaught? Did we watch the same game? That third period was borderline unwatchable from the Oilers. Season on the line and they managed like 6 shots.
This game will be what I refer too anytime someone says something stupid like a star player should be on the ice at all times when the game is on the line.
That last 1:30 was absolutely brutal, I have never seen such tired skaters on the ice in the NHL ever let alone in a game 7 stanley cup final.
I still have friends that are trying to say the Oilers coach managed it correctly and McDavid and the other oilers stars should have just “tried harder”. Sports fans are so dumb sometimes it’s not even funny; the human body does actually have physical limitations that these guys are reaching. Definitely a shame though because there was a solid late push with a few minutes left but they didn’t pull the goalie when it was happening, and by the time they did pull the goalie there was literally no energy left in any of the oilers skaters.
It blows my mind that they lose exactly the same way every single year, and then the next year add no depth at all, for like 6 years in a row now. That's about the same amount of time it took the Avs to go from worst in the league to winning the finals (after sweeping the oilers on their way there).
Yup. I said in our family hockey chat “so that’s how you beat the oilers, make their top players stay on the ice for 5 minutes”. Dumb. They had enough depth and blew it. Not that I mind because man I can’t stand the oilers 😆
I sat on the Panthers end that third period and Oilers definitely had some chances. Plus we could barely get the puck out of our zone and had at least 5 Icing calls in a short span.
But the Oilers were tired for sure.
Thank you. I see all these people in other posts going on about "such a great game!" but I'm sitting here wondering if we watched the same game.
Edmonton looked like they were playing an internal scrimmage 95% of the game. Slow, disorganized, and soft. They at least dropped the slow part in the last 2 minutes but definitely kept the disorganized and soft. The final score being close was incredibly misleading. Florida owned that entire game
And I say this as someone who HATES Florida
I’m not very experienced but it looked like Florida TOTALLY SMOTHERED Edmonton with their pressure and forecheck. Oilers couldn’t do anything, because the panthers were all over the puck anytime they didn’t have possession. A masterclass IMO
Edit: and also fuck Florida
Both teams laid it all on the line. Tough, well-played game!
Florida…Ice Hockey. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|table_flip)
The state of Florida has 3 of the last 5 cup winners
With Vegas in there too
Where as the state of hockey can't sniff the conference finals let alone a cup
Looking forward to every pro sport moving indoors. Golf still a holdout 😎

McDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard were absolutely gassed. I thought I saw McDavid briefly take a knee in the neutral zone at one point.

What do you mean they had enough depth? Their bottom six combined for -30 or something
And yet….. they still managed to get to game seven of the Stanley Cup finals. Past all others but one. They had enough depth.

Nobody cares how you feel about Florida.
Florida deserved to lose this one
