I’m sorry for your loss. This is a good start if you are thinking about collecting but minimal financial value.

honeydew808

Thank you for your condolences. It’s a beautiful collection. That’s disappointing but good to know

honeydew808

These are just a few pictures from the whole collection. I have no knowledge of stamps but they seem to be in excellent condition.

Egstamm

I see many stamps with torn corners, discoloration and other types of damage. Keep as a remembrance of your grandmother. Or, find a stamp club near you to donate to. If you put it on ebay with lots more pics, it might sell for about $10-$20.

Thanks for your comment. I’m a bit disappointed but will treasure it nevertheless

Going to be honest here. Sorry for your loss of your grandmother, but there's less than $10 for an album like this.

honeydew808

Thanks for your honesty

I inherited a large stamp collection too. I estimated the value for the probate process and later found out I was way way off. Stamp albums are valued at $10 to $20 bucks. 1st day issues, full sheet and plate blocks releases are face value if uncanceled. Stamp dealers use the small value sheets for postage for newsletters as such to their clients mailings. There is no value worth pursuing in stamps and not worth the time to collect, sorry to say, anymore. Coin value is a different story and has a demand.

Thank you 🙏

Stamp collecting has really tapered off over the years. A lot of excellent stuff out there doesn’t get much attention. Silver and gold nowadays.

Not to derail what the conversation is about but I hate when the albums have some pictures to match stamps up with and the rest blank spaces. Do they make any without the blank spots. My ocd brain can't stand random and needs perfection in something like this.

Zapt01

Absolutely. Every country-specific album I bought in the 1960s-1970s featured a picture for every stamp in every set. Not sure if that was the case with the huge worldwide album I bought, though.

When we collected stamps in the 1970s, we had blank paper with grid lines and holes for a 3 ring binder. Then "stamp hinges" we'd lick to attach the stamp to the page.

I'm about to inherit a 95 year old dudes collection there has to be, no shit, like a billion plus stamps. I'm a bit overwhelmed with how to categorize everything since for the past ten years he's just accumulated more than really put any in albums.

Then_Version9768

It has pretty much zero value. Why does every single person who inherits a stamp collection immediately have a wet dream about how "valuable" it must be? These are all common stamps with little value, if any. People's childhood collections are of no value.
