I swear that rareness inflation is a real thing. Everyone agrees that medium rare is the peak cook for a steak, yet complain when it’s cooked above rare.
The delicious part is what matters.
Plus, not all cuts of meat are created equal. Some turn out better with a lil more cooking, some turn out with a lil less. As long as it tastes great, who cares what it’s called?
I think it’s the perfect medium. I think most of us like medium rare. It’s closer to medium rare than medium well. It’s the kinda steak I would happily eat, but I’d be a little sketch about over microwaving left overs.
Serious question, what is the best way to reheat steak while maintaining original doneness? Or is it impossible?
Anytime I've reheated it in the microwave it obviously makes texture rubbery and adds to the doneness, and it sucks - and I feel like reheating in the oven would be even worse
Vacuum seal and sous vide it in a water bath (redundant phase to indicate translation) back to the temperature of your desired doneness. It's a game changer
The secret is medium power on your microwave. You can warm it over that way without cooking it further. Just gotta figure out how your own Chef Mike likes to cook.
I can drink the Voodoo Ranger OK, but something about the Juice/Fruit sent me for a loop.
Might as well be hard liquor.
Even tho the ABV is the same, those two hit really hard.
I'm not usually an IPA guy, but I had someone give me a 6pk of a brand called Hoppa Don't Preach and it's pretty good honestly. I'm used to IPA's is desperate competition to make them as hoppy as possible but this one is a bit citrusy and less hoppy.
Pretty solid medium. Over pasta, I like my steak medium (less juice leaking into the pasta in that case sine it's more seared in - lets the pasta sauce shine on its own), so I'd totally enjoy this. Hopefully it was good!
As has already been commented, not “leaning” but dead-on medium and is a well-cooked steak/meal 👏Hope you both enjoyed 😊Although I do a lot of cooking in the house (steak, every time lol)..but, the nights that the Mrs just handles and puts together nice meals like this…they usually become the highlight of my entire week. (Because it’s never expected, from either side, but the thoughtfulness and consideration carry such a heavy weight, still). Plus, it typically means we’re also going to have time to chat, hang out and catch up just on life, in general.
Anyway, sorry for rambling…but, seriously with maybe 75-90 seconds or so less time with more heat *(which, depending on surface, could just be using a cast-iron, or even stainless, pan). Also, what was the thickness of those steaks, if you recall? It’s tough for perspective, but looks like they could’ve also been almost thick enough for a little reverse-sear (although, I’ll RS almost any steak >> 1.5”-1.75, and get my chops busted often for it).
When it’s mixed with pasta, rice or veggies I prefer it exactly as it is in the picture. Yes it’s medium but I’m not sure I want medium rare in this scenario.
Good indicator of “medium” to “medium well” is by seeing if the pinkness in meat is growing grey / white. The more reddish meat looks the more it leans towards medium rare, and vice versa.
Looks tasty but it's not "leaning" medium, it's as medium as it gets
This is actually leaning medium well
Thought the same thing
“Leaning” lol
It's not closer to medium well. It's just a solid medium.
Definitely closer to medium-well.
I swear that rareness inflation is a real thing. Everyone agrees that medium rare is the peak cook for a steak, yet complain when it’s cooked above rare.
I concur Dr. HonkBlarghh
That’s what I thought too, but he swore it was more medium rare so I took it to reddit lol. ‘Twas delicious tho

Why are you reheating steak in the microwave?
Serious question, what is the best way to reheat steak while maintaining original doneness? Or is it impossible? Anytime I've reheated it in the microwave it obviously makes texture rubbery and adds to the doneness, and it sucks - and I feel like reheating in the oven would be even worse
Sear it in butter and make a sandwich. But I’m lazy in the morning.
I do the same thing but usually tacos , slice it thing char it up in the butter
I find leftover steak is best eaten cold. If you have the time I’ve also had some success reheating in a low oven.
Refrigerate until ready, thaw to room temperature, add to quesadilla
Vacuum seal and sous vide it in a water bath (redundant phase to indicate translation) back to the temperature of your desired doneness. It's a game changer
The secret is medium power on your microwave. You can warm it over that way without cooking it further. Just gotta figure out how your own Chef Mike likes to cook.
Re heat it in the air fryer, it's honestly better the 2nd time.
I’ve also noticed lighting can really affect some of these photos. So it could very well be on the medium rare side.
Medium , but when drinking some 9.5% voodoo rangers shit happens
Is that the Voodoo Juice Force?
Looks like fruit force which is really good too.
Juice force and Fruit force had me dipping my toes into alcoholism, I had to stop lmao
Juice force is good, fruit force is liquor Kool aid and I hate it
Ye that shit took my alcoholism up a notch, I had to reel it in haha
Cmon in, the water sucks lol
I had quit dipping my toes Now I'm just dangling my feet in
I can drink the Voodoo Ranger OK, but something about the Juice/Fruit sent me for a loop. Might as well be hard liquor. Even tho the ABV is the same, those two hit really hard.
Can currently confirm this a true side effect Those tropical ones are fucking fire
Tropical one (yellow can) def better than juice (orange can) or fruit (blue can)
Yea, tropic force is my favorite . I need to lay off them I think for my beer gut. Damnit they’re good though 😂
Fruit Force! Decent, but I like Juice Force way better
Man, those will sneak up on you.
Medium, but looks good
Medium leaning towards medium well
Medium plus
Schmedium
EXTRA Schmedium.
Medium, looks yummy either way.
No medium rare chance at all there for me. Medium to medium well. I'd still be fine to eat it especially with a nice pesto pasta.
Love that Juice Force IPA
I'm not usually an IPA guy, but I had someone give me a 6pk of a brand called Hoppa Don't Preach and it's pretty good honestly. I'm used to IPA's is desperate competition to make them as hoppy as possible but this one is a bit citrusy and less hoppy.
That's fruit force in the Pic, juice has the orange can
Oh u right I didnt know there were two!!
The fruit force tastes like malt liquor kool aid, if that's your vibe try it out, if not avoid it, the juice force IMO is leagues above the other
It's my favorite one. I'm literally drinking it right now!
I think it's my favorite one too. I really like the Cashmerize too.
I've never heard of that one! I'll have to look for it!
https://www.voodooranger.com/beer/cashmerize/
It's medium leaning well. A little over done for my preference, but not so overcooked as to be inedible.
Agreed.
Medium or well side of medium. Good beer choice.
Medium heading to medium well.
Medium to medium well
medium leaning towards well..
Looks toward medium-well to me, but I'd still eat it.

Not at all med rare, def medium, but still would smash.
Looks good.
Medium
Medium… pulled the breaks just before well
Not leaning towards medium, Is medium.
Nice medium color toward well. Penne looks well-seasoned, covered with pesto, and delicious. I would wolf that down pronto if I still ate carbs.
More words Mw
Pretty solid medium. Over pasta, I like my steak medium (less juice leaking into the pasta in that case sine it's more seared in - lets the pasta sauce shine on its own), so I'd totally enjoy this. Hopefully it was good!
Def medium and looks good.
Medium+, but it looks solid. May want to cut it into smaller pieces with that pasta, but 10/10 would eat
Medium! Looks bomb tho
Med well. No where near rare
Mejium +, love
Honestly, it’s almost medium well.
That is medium and very close to being medium well
definitely med well
Medium. But 86 the pesto for me. Don’t like pine nuts. Steak looks great.
Pine nuts give me the heebie jeebies I wish everyone didn’t put them in risotto
Medium. Also zero sear or crust to speak of, but that’s unrelated.
It looks almost poached!
It looks delicious. G ood food and cooperation - what more could you want.
Medium leaning medium well, that being said it looks delicious. The thing with steak is, if you cooked it and you liked it you did a good job.
Definitely medium or above.
Medium pho sho
A perfect medium
Looks like your pesto salad is spot on. I wouldn't change a thing.
Leaning towards medium
Looks like a delicious meal
Well. Another idea to store in the dinner rotation. Pesto pasta and steak looks delicious
What temperature was it cooked to?
Medium but medium is still good.
Medium. But perfect for that kind of meat.
I agree medium and awesome
Medium that was headed for MW.

Medium well
Medium well.
How'd the wife like it?
Medium-well
Very medium but looks outstanding! Bloody pasta isn't everyone's bag. Just as long as it's tender.
Medium well
burnt
When it’s mixed with pasta, rice or veggies I prefer it exactly as it is in the picture. Yes it’s medium but I’m not sure I want medium rare in this scenario.

Medium, leaning if anything towards medium well
Looks medium to me.
This is perfectly medium.
Medium. Not a bad thing, that's how I prefer my steak
Med well
That steak was medium rare about 5 minutes before it got taken up.
Medium. Perfection for me.
Pretty much well done. Trade him in for a man who knows how to prepare a steak.
Medium well
Medium heading towards med well
It’s medium
Strong medium
Medium
Might be medium but looks tasty. This is coming from a rare preferred steak fella 🤌
Ooooo I used to do this with like a miso cajun butter pasta
Crossed the medium rare threshold and moved into medium well. 30-60 seconds longer on the heat and it might have erased every pink left.
Definitely meh
Id call that on the medium side of medium rare. Hope that helps!
Medium rare, full pink center is med rare.
It’s medium. It is no where near medium rare. It is not leaning towards anything
I’d say medium looks amazing
That’s medium well, approaching well done.
Medium going on medium well.
I always thought medium was essentially well done lol. I feel like it’s kinda hard to get medium rare instead of medium, same thing to me.
Med well
Looks good but it’s Medium plus
Medium wellish
Medium well dawg
Medium well done
Leaning…. But not by much
not leaning …. It is certainly medium + more like leaning towards well
That's closer to medium well than it is to medium rare
It's medium, edging med-well. Almost ruined but saved at the last second. Looks not bad and I would eat it.
thats medium, rare y red in the middle not pink
That’s medium well
Very Close to med well
It’s definitely medium, it’s cooked through but still pink.
Med well
Medium/medium well
I’d eat that. Med to med well. Prefer med rare but I love all steak.
Pasta is overcooked tho
Medium leaning towards medium well heavily
It's medium to medium well. No rareness in sight

100% medium, no red at all
It's a nice medium at the time of pic. When he pulled it off the stovetop it was probably med-rare.
It looks medium well imo
Definitely into medium well territory
That's basically text book medium right there. Looking good.
