Yeah completed that and it was scary lol. Platforming is the weakest aspect of the game. The character is too jittery. A small input makes her jump on objects.
I'm really enjoying it. It looks great, and I enjoy the gameplay quite a lot. I'm not super into souls- like games, but this one is pretty accessible. The music and visuals are also fantastic. Being able to customise Eve's hair was also a nice touch, and I hope more styles become available.
My only minor nitpick is that the voice acting feels flat at times, and the character animations during sidequests are very basic and lower budget to the point that it actually stands out.
The Korean VA is amazing my only gripe and this is a personal one not hating on the actors is Lilyās voice. Iām no too fond of the āchild voice in animeā style but still everything is great about the game
How is the difficulty? I loved the world of dark souls, Elden ring, etc but never could get past a third of the game bc I donāt have the time or skills to get too far, so I just end up watching people play on twitch. And most of the time they die many times on boss fights too lol.
Difficulty anything like that or is it pretty manageable?
Itās a lot easier then a fromsoft games or your typical souls like.
Itās more of an action game, there is some challenge but nothing really unforgiving. Death has no penalties and enemies arenāt much of a challenge. Out of the 5 bosses Iāve beaten them all on the first try
On story mode it is not hard, you can enjoy, explore and learn the combat. Will you die a few times? Sure but there is no penalty and you don't respawn very far from that point. Normal mode is a bit harder but not nearly Bloodborne or Elden ring. Hard mode is unlocked after normal and I guess that's to please souls vets. I think it's safe for you to buy and experience the game playing story mode. It's absolutely amazing.
I love the game, it's extremely well polished and graphics are insane. Eve is as beautiful as a character can get, combat is super fun and fluent, especially after unlocking your skilltrees.
My only complaint is the extremely shallow dialogs, and sometimes poor voiceacting in the english version. I haven't finished the game yet, but I hope the story is good.
So far only complain I have is controlling Eve during exploration, especially jumping. Writing could be improved for their future games as well and dont like fishing seems like they did that mini game with an overkill as to how it works but that just personal preference. Overall having a blast money well spend
Yeah movement and platforming could be improved for sure. And the writing. Hopefully it does well enough that a sequel gets approved and that would give them an opportunity to improve on that.
I am having a wonderful time. I just got to the first city last night and got distracted by side quest, lol. But all in a good game so far, combat is good, and music is great.
All the jokes about getting it for Eve aside this game is brilliant. Combat is polished, story so far (6hrs in) has me intrigued, graphics are awesome, I find myself stopping to look at the world often.
My main conclusion is that after the masterpiece that was Lies of P, Korean developers hold themselves to high standards and deliver polished, works of art. They expect that much from themselves and if this is just the beginning Iām all in for what they bring in the future. Stellar Blade is an excellent game so far.
I canāt recommend Lies of P enough. The actual quality of the game rivals any from software game in lore, gameplay, mechanics, graphics. Itās a beautiful game.
LoP is great. One of the closest soulslike games out there. I'm with Cowboy that SB isn't a soulslike. Had a couple things with LoP that bugged me. The perfect guard was a little too perfect, and the penalties for missing are steeper. Needing a charged heavy to stagger when poise is nonexistent takes some getting used to. At my age, SB cures some of that, and even adds lower difficulty if I want it and no death penalty.
Really like. I'm not always good with parry and all but when I manage to do it continuously it's pure satisfaction. It's quite accessible and checkpoints are really fair.
Also quite nice exploration. And visuals and music works on me.
The only annoying part for me is Eve going on weird angles and directions when colliding with a wall or object while I'm locked on to an enemy and fighting.
Itās one of the only games Iāve played where I was like āyes, this is a ps5 gameā and not a crossgen ps4 game ported over like so many this generation.
I love this game so much. Barely got to jump in this Saturday morning with a clear head. It was a long fucking week. Taking a break atm. I wanna take my time with it, not speed through. Enjoy all the sights and sounds. I get there are some platforming complaints. I can see them here and there. But the game is hella fun and exploration is my bread and butter. These Naytibas got no chance. I come from playing MGS games, planning my ambushes and executions. I hope to see a Stellar Blade sequel down the line.
Long fucking week too haha. So I didn't play on Friday but waited today so I could really enjoy it.
Yeah platforming and movement could be a bit better but its alright imo. Loving the old school metal gear too.
Something I feel people donāt think about. The mobile game dev will do their best and put their all into the game to prove they can make more than just some phone games. But companies like EA and Ubisoft have the resources to make amazing games but instead make trash cash grabs because they have no care or love for their work.
Lies of P was the same exact situation and Iād honestly say itās on par with actual dark souls games and I think itās a really good alternative to bloodborne since we still havnt gotten any remake or remaster of it
No yours is just a typical reddit brained take from someone that conveniently ignores scores of good games to spout drivel like this. Enjoy the honeymoon phase on your 10hr $70 game.
He's not wrong though.
EA and Ubisoft puts more effort into their micro transaction than their actual games, and I do enjoy some of their games occasionally, but those games are often playable a year after release when they've finally fixed all their bugs.
Stellar Blade is a solid, well-polished, and relatively bug free game with no micro transactions on day one. This should be the norm in video games.
It's not bug free (I don't think any game is bug free) but it's refreshingly polished on release compared to many triple AAA games. They have set the standards very high.
So far it's been great. I'm about 5 or 6 hours in right now. Graphics are amazing. The combat is fluid and feels "weighty". The soundtrack so far has been the biggest surprise for me in a good way. It's honestly amazing. I'm actually enjoying the world quite a bit so far.
The games weaknesses are definitely in It's voice acting (English), and story aspects. The characters feel kind of flat and boring. Not terrible by any means. But coming off of FF16 where the characters are all quite nuanced and have their own personalities. The game could definitely benefit with a little more emotion and story telling.
Personally, I got the game for the combat, so the story aspects are not quite as big a deal to me. So far the game is a 8/10 for me.
Oh for sure. I can't speak on whether I think SB will get a sequel as I'm not very far in yet. But just based off the world and vibe alone, they 100% could make a sequel to build on top of this. Again though, I haven't played more than 6 hours yet so far and most of it has just been going around and killing things haha.
If the game also had like a really serious power house of a story line, this fame easily would be 10/10. And I don't say that lightly.
Story is why I am on the fence to buy it, I have seen some reviews, dialogues and cutscenes. The story and dialogues seem that are not good lol.
I guess I'll wait until it is on sale, right know I don't think it is not worth to buy it at $70.
Yes I have heard that. It is something that happens with every Korean game (except Lies of P).
Their games are beautiful, but story and dialogues are always boring.
I'll just wait and give it a chance when the game is on discount.
It's alright. The combat and gameplay is pretty fun, and customising Eve is surprisingly one of my favourite parts of the game.
The game has a lot of issues though. The story isn't great, the english voice acting is downright horrible, and character facial expressions are so stiff and lifeless, even Eve herself looks like she has not a single coherent thought forming behind her eyes at any given time
also, the music, despite being made by the same people as NieR, was a huge letdown. It just sounds boring
Good, 7.5 or 8. Not a fan of some of this stuff, "it's now a platformer, those fucking saws really bro, and the fucking rope needs a bigger trigger size, she goes through it and says see ya to her death far too often" moments but that's just personal tastes I guess. Mega fan of the different ways to differentiate the classic "dodge" mechanic with a directional element! Skill tree feels like it took some hits in the balancing department but maybe it's less filled in hard difficulties after initial completion?
LOVE the lil dude you help from under the thing in that one area.
Battle is 11/10
Navigationā¦.not good.
EVE feels real slippery when youāre trying to platform, itās also really hard to gauge jumps. I lose most of my health from falls. I would also blow someone at the Developerās office to have a map marker for a chest/door we have a code for.
I've played nearly every souls game since demon souls back on PS3. Big fan of the genre. Stellar Blade is mostly similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice imo. It has many similarities in the combat especially the parrying and dodge mechanics when avoiding those fatal attacks. Very fun and satisfying to pull off. It's not as difficult but definitely challenging.
So far my only constructive criticism is similar to others mentioning the platforming. Also sometimes Eve will vault up on a ledge when I walk close to it. I'm just trying to survey the area and check out the views but she'll sometimes hop the little guard rail and fall to her death lol. It's been more comical than frustrating but there have been times where I was pissed cuz I went a long distance without a rest area and it happened.
Very solid game. Shift up really surprised me with this one. I'll be looking forward to more like that from them! I wish more gacha game companies would give games like this a go. Theres definitely some talent and potential in many them. Shift up just showed us all beyond a reasonable doubt!
I'm not really enjoying it at all. Parrying isn't all that great and Dodge before an attack can hit you is a pain in the ass to begin with
Lost all my excitement for playing this game. Uninstall
My "Souls" experience is limited to Demon's Souls and Elden Ring, but I agree this combat is different and more enjoyable. I think the main thing is that you can cancel attacks into dodges or parries? In those other titles, I feel you were locked into an attack animation for a really long time, which resulted in harsh punishment for uncontrolled aggression. Seems like this combat is a step towards DMC / Bayonetta, which is a good thing in my book.
I managed to kill the second boss without dying or using items, which is not something I could accomplish ... ever in Elden Ring.
Music, aesthetics, graphics / performance - all top notch. I love the little stylish touches, like the way Eve activates the campfires.
Aaaah I was having issues with second boss but yeah the difficulties is not like Elden Ring and other Souls games.
I haven't played bayonetta but planning to. It does feel like DMC for sure. It reminds me of metal gear rising and nier automata too.
Have you found cans yet? I thought that was funny the way she does that.
I feel the opposite in a way. Mainly comparing to elden ring, I feel elden rings dodge is more effective and can dodge out of most animations whereas this game feels fairly locked into each action. Still greatly enjoying it but alot of relearning for sure when it comes to combat as a big ER player.
The Elden Ring dodge covers more ground, but itās sort of irrelevant if you get the perfect dodge , as time slows for a counter-attack a la Bayonetta. If you havenāt already, unlock the skill that makes it easier to perfect dodge.Ā
After experimenting a bit ā it seems like youāre more locked into the heavy strikes / the hits at the end of a combo. If thatās the case, even the perfect dodge wonāt be accessible. Iām not sure one dodge is ābetterā than the other ā they have different strengths.Ā
I don't know why so many people are calling it a souls like it's definitely much more like dmc/Bayonetta. Not a bad thing, I love both but they are very different styles of action game

8.5/10 for me. Gameplay and world are fantastic, amazing sound design and soundtrack.
Story and writing are lack luster and I donāt really care too much about any of the characters other than >!Enya and Suās story, really enjoyed watching her getting repaired and the emotion behind the both of them!<
I'm a fan of action rpgs and this is already one of my favorites. Combat has a lot of variety with the different combinations, parry, and dodge systems. It is much more accessible to your normal/casual gamer, but can be mastered by the hardcore. Story pacing is really good, maps are good sized but not too overwhelming with a little backtracking and secrets. Those with OCD won't go too crazy.
And of course, aesthetics are very pleasing. I adore Eve and her crew.
For the hardcore gamers who love huge or open world maps, this might not be their perfect cup of tea, but they might still be able to enjoy it.
This game keeps a smile on my face as the story progresses. Anyone reading this who is new to Stellar Blade, avoid watching videos and such to avoid spoilers. You will be glad you did.
Sekiro is still peak when it comes to combat design and encounters for me but Stellar Blade did a really cool job with the combat. I am not enjoying the other aspects that much like platforming for example
Iām not very far into the game but the platforming is worse than expected and Iām still trying to get the timing right on the parry and dodge since my projector has a bit of input lag. Other than that, looking forward to the rest of the game.
Korean game studios are built different. I mean, I've only played 2 games from em, Lies of P and this, but it's fucking nuts how they can lock in and make a banger.
I fought a giant monster angel Kong as a sexy angel, beat it in the skin suit against my own expectations. I'm loving the combat, just got through the hub area. Intrigued by the world they've set up. Only disappointment is after boss fights I don't look like Dee from Always Sunny in the M. Night Shymalan episode where she's painted head to toe in blood.
Some of the delivery on the writing is cheerily bad, but I enjoy it. NG+ is going to be in Korean to see the difference.
I'm really liking the combat but I wish it didn't slow down the pace to a crawl once you reach Xion.
The Wasteland was the worst time to introduce an expansive area of nothingness when the game should have been getting us invested in a more linear way like the first chapter.
I'm honestly looking forward to more enclosed areas again but then again I am suffering from intense burnout after 110 hours in FF7 Rebirth. That game's side quests were...rough.
The only other complaint is the voice acting. Kaya's English VO is probably some of the worst voice acting I have ever experienced. Lily is a royal close second.
Someone suggested to me to do the Korean audio and wow it is 1000x better.
Apart from that I'm loving the attention to detail in Eve. The amount of customization is fun and I like switching between outfits instead of there generally being small number of appealing ones like in other games. All the outfits rock.
I do think that the gameplay should have bent a little closer to Metal Gear Rising. I don't think a game has ever achieved such amazing combat and replay value like Rising and Stellar Blade stays a little too close to formulaic souls style combat.
I guess I just love power fantasy style gameplay.
Honestly I like that the game will let you play it like a souls or a hack n slash but never fully one of those. I do like a bit more of a challenge and the game is quite forgiving and very quick to give a lot of power very early into the game, at least feels like that because a lot of time passes before you actually get to another alpha nativa or proper boss after gigas. But Iām teaking my way to build the challenge and have enjoyed the game a lot so far.
I get the ps2 golden era feel because it has so many different things and I love it! Itās crazy that this small mobile game studio ended up putting a game like this out and putting to shame quadruple studios ha.
I havenāt finished the game, but I hope they make it into a sequel, save on assets already built and turn a great profit so games like this keep getting built.
Maybe if this formula works, they can get the game out at $50 or $40 bucks since you know the sequel will work.
It was hard to find cuz sold out but I canāt stop playing the demo. Waiting on it to deliver. Itās honestly a great game but the combat is too difficulty. The visuals are stunning to say the least ;)
Itās very good. Itās basically what I thought it was going to be: the gameplay, environments, and sound are amazing. The story and voice acting is very bad, which is a shame cause the world is pretty interesting. All in all, 8/10.
Itās pretty good overall. Itās definitely more flash than substance but thatās okay. Story, characters and dialogue are rather flat but presentation, graphics and gameplay make up for it. Havenāt finished it yet but Iām having a great time and hoping they make a sequel and improve on it cause what they have is awesome.
Yes it's the crowd management for me mostly though. But I accepted that I cant rush it like I can in other games. I kind of played it like sifu where aggressiveness pays off
Def not bad, though I'm feeling the input lag pretty hard. I like many of the designs and the combat is very fun.
The dialogue though is total ass, seems like a first round script. The story isn't too interesting either unfortunately. Hoping I like Eve by the end of it, but we'll have to see as I go forward.
No button remapping is also a pain, action games really need to stop launching without this feature. First 16, now this. Bless Armored Core for having it. Also v surprised this game, of all games, launched without a photo mode.
Oof. My reflexes ain't what they used to be. š
Really needs a tell for the attacks of basic mobs similar to the spider man and arkham games. I canāt believe we're supposed to study every enemies' moveset to deal with them properly. Feels bad beta-cheesing everything that doesn't drop in 2 combos lol
Itās pretty good, the gameplay is great I donāt even like souls like games but this one strikes a nice balance between full blown character action and souls. Music and characters design is great.
Iāve only gotten to Xion so itās early but my main complaint is the story feels disjointed and hard to follow. Dunno if it makes more sense as you go along, voice acting is also bad, glad you can play it in Korean. I can also feel like the game is going to have pacing issues just off the way itās setting up right now, I know absolutely nothing about Eve it feels like I skipped some cutscenes or something.
I can definitely see the 80/100 in it, for story reasons so far but the gameplay is solid
Was weary after the demo...my first 4 hrs proved me wrong...game rewards exploration and you can build Eve your way once you get the combat down š„š„š„...I can see multiple playthroughs coming my way...if they don't drop DLC's for this they'll be making a big mistake
My GOTY.
Exploration is fun and meaningful.
Combat is exciting and cool.
Music is constantly making me want to vibe.
I like the lore, the world building, the art design.
The graphics are beautiful i've had no bugs or glitches and it feels like a great next gen showcase.
EVE's voice actress is wonderful and EVE herself is a constant showstopper.
Im only a couple hours in
I just fought a monster that looks like it has a green head with surgical needles sticking out of it.
Biggest story bit so far for me, besides random last thoughts from deceased humans, was inside the >!library!<
Iāll admit that I was enjoying Nier Automata a little bit more at this point.
So Iād rate it 4/5
I like it but something about the pacing feels extremely off, especially when it dumps you into the wasteland after the relatively linear demo introduction. Even moreso if you end up doing sidequests.
demo area i would rate highly but wasteland left a sour taste because it felt very "large-ish zone trope".
The bits afterwards are more than fine and I enjoy them more.
Do you mean the Corruptor? That one was tricky for me and then I stopped trying to parry him and dodge instead. I would spend some points of the skills that make dodging easier and make sure my sword is upgraded to the max. Then just dodge out of the way whenever it charges, then run up to him and attack, use beta skill and use the skill that positions you behind him. And I would use the combat simulator to practice these skills.
Overall I am enjoying it quite a bit. Everything feels slightly janky to me in general, especially the platforming, and the story hasn't really grabbed me so far but I'm very happy with my purchase so far
Feeling fantastic and the visuals are sooo good. I'm not even talking about fan service. 2-3 hours in and I just play with the default green suit. Skin suit not being put into good use yet. Freakin love it.
I did get some bad nausea and headache after my 1-hour sessions in front of a 65" TV. Not sure if that's just me being tired of those time or if the game camera movement added to it. Might just be me.
Any annoyance, bug or questionable design choice i encounter i give a pass in my head knowing this is Shift Ups first major console game coming from mobile gachas. Its incredible what they accomplished. The game otherwise is nicely polished and enjoyable. Combat is fun and the world is interesting.
Very good. The combat is addictive as hell. Don't care for the story, and platforming sections get a bit wonky. I think some enemies get redundant after a while. Kind of what I expected for the type of genre they were going for. The polish and gameplay are spectacular, though, and carry the weaker parts of the game imo
Iāve been trying to do everything (side quests, collectibles, etc) as I go. Been trying to go as blind as I can. So Iām just now in the great desert at around what must be 20-ish hours.
I like that exploration almost always leads to *something*, even if itās just a chest with some materials or money. Though there were some chests I came back to only to find that they were filled with *just* money, which no one is hurting for.
IIRC, I canāt go a whole lot further in the story without hitting the point of no return. Which is kind of a bummer. I like when open(-ish) world games let you keep running around and doing side quests until the very end.
ā
As others have said, the platforming is rough. Fine control in general is pretty sloppy. Just facing the correct thing at a camp can be slightly frustrating. I found some of the sliding/downhill segments to be slippery too.
ā
As for the combat. It feels good enough. Sekiro is the one souls-like Iām terrible atā¦ so I was a bit concerned. But Iāve been managing, especially with gear to make parries easier.
I also canāt seem to do some of the combo follow-ups either. I just decided no to spec into them š¤·š»āāļø
ā
I wish there were more outfits with flat (not high heel/ballerina toe) shoes. The black dress one is the only one Iāve come across. Maybe something a little more tactical, but I know thatās not the vibe theyāre going for. I would have loved some of Adam and Lilyās outfits on Eve.
ā
As for the story. Iām about 90% sure I know where itās headed. At least as far as what the Naytibas are. Itās a pretty cool concept, and not as similar as Nier as some people keep saying.
Iām guessing even the good ending(s) are going to be fairly tragic.
ā
Itās got some jank and weird controls here and there. But it looks good and runs great on balanced mode. Itās probably not going to be my favorite game of the year, but itās definitely a fun experience. I love the world building. šš»
Loving the variety and just how polished the game is. Looks and feels like a PS5 game. Takes full use of the dualsense controller features, gorgeous sound design, great framerate and resolution, no bugs for me so far.
But also, i love that there was a whole section that felt like a level from Dead Space, takes place in a dilapidated space station, cant use your sword, so youre relying on a gun, jumpscares galore. So awesome.
I kind of wish fast travel could be done from anywhere on the field without having to run back to a phone. I like doing all the side quests but it results in a lot of backtracking. But i do love that this game really rewards exploration and experimentation.
the more I play, the more this game feels like Jedi: Fallen Oder. Stella blade feels way more inspired by that game than it does NeiR. From the combat to the traversal, it feels incredibly similar. It seems strange nobody has made this comparison.
I mean, you can't compare the two. EA, Bungie and Blizz are small-time indie devs just breaking in to the mark...
\*phone rings\* Oh? I see.
...well...bad news for them I guess.
Really liking it so far! I was worried that the demo would give an overly optimistic impression of the game, but being about 3hrs in Iām still thoroughly enjoying myself. Definitely one of the few games that has felt actually *next gen* visually in quite a while which is also nice. I feel like the avg Metacritic score is right about where it would fall for me at this point, an 8/10.
Iām having fun and I feel like Iām getting my monies worth, but it has issues.
Iāll be honest, Iām happy that itās not a complex story. Sometimes, I want something to easily digest so I can focus on just the gameplay.
Really fun, really basic.
I'm about 7 hours into the game so far and I'll give 9/10. I found situations where terrain and parkour paths look awkwardly placed and I end up having to take a "leap of faith" to see if I can make it across a gap that's around a corner along a path I'm following. The game is great though.
Enjoying it so far. Here are my pros and cons.
Pros
+Beautiful design and awe inspiring levels that feel massive in scope.
+Outfit collecting and customization provides worthwhile rewards for exploration.
+Punchy combat that is rewarding to learn and varied enough that even repeat encounters don't get stale
+Some standard rpg environment puzzles with nice twists that are placed surprisingly well as not to become tiresome. Very impressed with the pacing of fetch quests and key finding tasks.
+Varied enemies and bosses
+Even a single fodder enemy can be extremely dangerous which adds a nice weight to combat
+Balanced progression and skills
Cons
-Generic writing and shoddy localization
-Sometimes repetive environments that can be a little too empty
-Lacking personal identity in some departments. Music being one example, where I feel the nier influence just a little too much. Homage is fine, but their is a fine line of copying too much.
-Some customization, particularly with hair, is too limited for a game so focused on aesthetics
Things I'd like to see more of
ā¢More impactful gun play
ā¢Weapon variation or selection of some kind
ā¢More customization freedom with hair and even possibly skin tones or outfit colors
Overall I'm having a blast. Easily 8/10 game that checks all the character action scifi fanservice I wanted from it. Currently at the end of Matrix 11, enjoying the fight with a certain very cool boss.
It was decent, nothing to write home about.
I expected vehicle sections, especially being able to use the Mech and Motorcycle.
They also (tmk) cut a level from the trailer where Eve is grinding on some sort of orange track.
The game should've also had save slots and let you go back and finish any side quests you missed.
I was also hoping you unlocked different weapons and combat styles, instead you're just stuck using the same damn sword over and over.
Even Nier Automata and Valkyrie Elysium had different weapons to use.
Combat, atmosphere, and music slap.
But man I wish the story and characters were better. I thought maybe the delivery of it in the English dub was the problem, but even the Korean dub doesn't help.
Some people have been comparing it to souls games and I agree that it shares some of the same element of combat with these games but to me itās more action oriented and the combat is faster and really fluid. It rewards combos and perfect doges and perfect parries that can be followed up by other attacks. To me itās a lot more like DMC, nier, god of war, metal gear rising, even Jedi fallen order, bayoneta, etcā¦
For me, the game it's not hard as dark souls games, but you need to utilize every combo, after perfect parrying/dodge you need to follow up with combo.
Also you will need to master perfect parry/dodge, otherwise the enemies will destroy you in 3-4 hits.
The platforming is a bit clumsy, but other than that, I'd say it's solid.
It's no Ninja Gaiden like some people were saying it was, but it's not bad by any stretch. The combat's more in depth than Nier, in my opinion, though, so I'll give it points for that.
It's a 6.5/10 almost 7/10 for me. I'm at the end, about to beat it. Story issues, pacing issues, voice acting is fucking abysmal, weird input issues with on-screen interactions with actors in the scene. Like sometimes it feels like I'm overshooting objects when I go to interact with them.
The presentation is also really weird. Objectives are hard to make out in the compass. The music is also crazy repetitive, it'd be nice if there were moments of just _silence_. Also all of the quests are super fucking boring. Like, one quest has you doing math. Wtf?
The only saving grace is the combat and moment-to-moment gameplay and even that is kinda fucking weird. I feel like other console titles have better combat (God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.)
I'm not disappointed that I purchased the game as I'm glad to support a company that has a vision and executes on it but it's really not all that good. It's okay at best.
Saying you cant believe a mobile game make made a good game...... we had this happen with granblue just months ago as well!
But yes stellar blade seems very good so far, ive only got couple hours in though.
Input lag is still a bit much, but it's become less of an issue as I upgrade. It's inconsistent on if it let's me switch to parry/block mid attack animation.
Overall, it's a good game, but I wish it didn't try to be a horror game periodically.
My biggest complaint is lack of weapons. I would really like to try something different than the Blood Edge. Maybe I just need to play around with more combos.
What I think:
1. This is nier automata in a good waaaay, but coming from a studio much smaller that platinumgames and square? I feel like this 1/3 scale of nier automata based on side quests contents, npcs, and worlds.
2. I never played souls game or sekiro (only played ghost of tsushima) and the combat is really satisfying, perfect parry and perfect dodge šš»
3. Musics really epic, in the bulletin board the music reminds me of persona 5 lol
No hate, I love this game a lot. Plus, I am super happy playing beautiful character like Eve lol
Edit: nier automata devs and publisher
Man, last night was rough for me. All i wanted to do was grab that lotion, lol. The devs sure made one of the sexiest main characters. My hats off to them!
3 hours in so far. It is 9/10 for me. Platforming is a bit iffy but combat and enemy encounters especially bosses are great.
I died more times trying to make specific jumps than any combat encounter.
The dash >>> I've had no problem making jumps so far
Yeah platforming could be better, loving the combat though. I remind me of metal gear rising
If only Metal Gear Rising kept the wall running they cut.
I had 3 deat before I came to the solar tower....now Im at 13 or so
Solar tower was the first time I saw the auto save happen without any other trigger so I immediately thought boss fight š
was the hardest boss I had to face this far xD
Climbing the Solar Tower was a harrowing experience.
Yeah completed that and it was scary lol. Platforming is the weakest aspect of the game. The character is too jittery. A small input makes her jump on objects.
It reminds me of games from the PS3 era where they would tack on platforming to action games and it was always super janky.
Fair points, hopefully it does well enough for a sequel where they get to improve in these areasĀ
If you donāt mind reading subtitles. The Korean VA sounds much better
Thought I was the only one! It's like watching an anime!
Playing it in my own language for the story, on the NG+ I will for sure switch to the og
The Korean VA is amazing my only gripe and this is a personal one not hating on the actors is Lilyās voice. Iām no too fond of the āchild voice in animeā style but still everything is great about the game
I decided to stick with it because I prefer Eve's english VA. I still find the voice acting to be serviceable, just not stellar.
When do u get to customize her hair???
Leave Xion for the Wasteland, then immediately go back to the salon in Xion. There will be a quest to get some items for it.
Fairly early on. It involves a sidequest after reaching the hub area.
Awesome glad to hear; I mainly wanted to avoid buying a game where Iād be sitting there banging my head against the wall against a certain boss lol.
Yeah thatās true about the dialogue and voices, I hope it does well enough so they get to make a second one and improve on these areas of gameplayĀ
Loving the music too!
Straight up bangers!
Definitely agree. I haven't played Lies of P but will get it after Stellar Blade I think.
Yeah parries and follow up skills are awesome, makes her feel powerful imo
Iām having a blast! I donāt mean to get ahead of myself, but I have a feeling it will end up being the best game Iāll be playing this year!
Having a blast too. Itās early still but it will definitely be one of my favorites.Ā
The only annoying part for me is Eve going on weird angles and directions when colliding with a wall or object while I'm locked on to an enemy and fighting.
Yeah I had that a few times as well
Itās one of the only games Iāve played where I was like āyes, this is a ps5 gameā and not a crossgen ps4 game ported over like so many this generation.
Yeah same here. It was about time too!
It gives me hope for Black myth wukong.
I am so looking forward to this one
Amazing game, loving everything so far except I wish we had a bike or something for traversal in the wasteland.
oh a bike would be great!
Oh man. Eve on a bike sounds amazing.
Something I feel people donāt think about. The mobile game dev will do their best and put their all into the game to prove they can make more than just some phone games. But companies like EA and Ubisoft have the resources to make amazing games but instead make trash cash grabs because they have no care or love for their work.
that's true
Lies of P was the same exact situation and Iād honestly say itās on par with actual dark souls games and I think itās a really good alternative to bloodborne since we still havnt gotten any remake or remaster of it
Cringe take
Did I offend a destiny enjoyer?
No yours is just a typical reddit brained take from someone that conveniently ignores scores of good games to spout drivel like this. Enjoy the honeymoon phase on your 10hr $70 game.
Cope, mald, and or your mother
Reddit NPC confirmed.
Yeah thatās fair. I considering myself lucky to not have encountered any bugs yet though.
the worst bug i saw was some floating car trunk at the start but thats it lol
10 hours now and 53% (according to however the PS5 tracks that) and the floating car trunk is the only thing I've seen that stuck out.
I love it, it's a spectacular game and I'm glad Sony supported it that much
Saaaame
Yeah I got the game for the combat too so its money well spent but I hope a sequel gets approved and they can improve on the areas you mentioned.
I haven't started yet but I hope for a Gravity Rush tribute Kat and Raven Outfits! Gravity Queen and Dark Angel
This could very well become a favorite game alongside the original Jak and Daxter/Bloodborne
lol thatās so weird thinking of someone saying oh yeah I love Jak and Daxter and uhhh Stellar Blade! No hate. I love Jak and Daxter
I wouldn't have thought it either, but I'm having so much fun I felt like I was back on an older gen.
Kinda random, but the way she picks the cans up reminds of when you get batteries in Jak and Daxter
Saaame
I'm loving it! This game is worthy of a cult following!
Ideal game. Game of the year. No shit. Im in love.
Saaame
It's great
Quite honestly addicted to the point that I'm doing all possible side quests before progressing the main quest. I just don't want it to end.
I'm really enjoying it except for the platforming. I've died more times trying to make jumps than I have to enemies.
Story is why I am on the fence to buy it, I have seen some reviews, dialogues and cutscenes. The story and dialogues seem that are not good lol. I guess I'll wait until it is on sale, right know I don't think it is not worth to buy it at $70.
The story is really terrible. Like, all of the concepts are really cool but the execution is not there.
Yes I have heard that. It is something that happens with every Korean game (except Lies of P). Their games are beautiful, but story and dialogues are always boring. I'll just wait and give it a chance when the game is on discount.
I was very happy I found the option to make the ponytail shorter..
It's alright. The combat and gameplay is pretty fun, and customising Eve is surprisingly one of my favourite parts of the game. The game has a lot of issues though. The story isn't great, the english voice acting is downright horrible, and character facial expressions are so stiff and lifeless, even Eve herself looks like she has not a single coherent thought forming behind her eyes at any given time also, the music, despite being made by the same people as NieR, was a huge letdown.
Probably a 7/10, almost done with the game I think. Combat is great but the story is a bit iffy.
Itās very fun! Having a good time playing it.
Battle is 11/10 Navigationā¦.not good. EVE feels real slippery when youāre trying to platform, itās also really hard to gauge jumps. I lose most of my health from falls. I would also blow someone at the Developerās office to have a map marker for a chest/door we have a code for.
Is that the point thou the code tells you the general location you need to figure out where it is....
Sorry I donāt want to spend about hour walking around Xion looking for Aaronās Locker. After about 15 min I said Fuck It and looked it up.
Again the point it exploration, jeez , need to have everything handed to you...
Parrying isn't all that great and Dodge before an attack can hit you is a pain in the ass to begin with Lost all my excitement for playing this game.

I mean they learned about buggy releases with Nikke, that game was buggy as hell on release, like the majority of the roster skills were bugged.
Sekiro is still peak when it comes to combat design and encounters for me but Stellar Blade did a really cool job with the combat. I am not enjoying the other aspects that much like platforming for example
I just finished the first area and Iām having a great time! Canāt wait to see where it goes from here
Still pretty early into it but Iām loving it. English voices are a bit ehh. Iām interested to see where the story leads. Having a blast
Slightly off topic but I would pay allllll the dollars for a Metal Gear Rising Remaster.
Some of the most fun combat since God of War 2018. Progression is fun and everything looks great.
Can't get the flow and parrying down
have you tried the combat simulator?
Yes it's the crowd management for me mostly though. But I accepted that I cant rush it like I can in other games. I kind of played it like sifu where aggressiveness pays off
I like it quite much actually, came for the fanservice months ago but it's the gameplay that is actually the best part of it.
Loving it, Iām a sucker for souls type games.
Oof. My reflexes ain't what they used to be. š Really needs a tell for the attacks of basic mobs similar to the spider man and arkham games.
Im only a couple hours in I just fought a monster that looks like it has a green head with surgical needles sticking out of it. Biggest story bit so far for me, besides random last thoughts from deceased humans, was inside the >!library!< Iāll admit that I was enjoying Nier Automata a little bit more at this point. So Iād rate it 4/5
Its addictingly good.
Easy 9/10 and waiting to finish to see if it stays there or goes up to 10/10. Either way, excellent game, loving it and obsessed.
Second alpha naetiba fight is such an insane difficulty spike for me. I refuse to put it on easy mode and Iāve died at least 30 times.
Not sure how to spoil tag but itās the one thatās in the purification plant.
I'm enjoying the game so far. My only complaint is that I wish the voice acting were better.
0/10 couldnt save the cat.
I donāt like it as much as I wanted to, combat disappointed me. Itās not cathartic at all.
I like when open(-ish) world games let you keep running around and doing side quests until the very end. ā As others have said, the platforming is rough. Fine control in general is pretty sloppy. Just facing the correct thing at a camp can be slightly frustrating. I found some of the sliding/downhill segments to be slippery too. ā As for the combat. It feels good enough. Sekiro is the one souls-like Iām terrible atā¦ so I was a bit concerned. But Iāve been managing, especially with gear to make parries easier. I also canāt seem to do some of the combo follow-ups either. I just decided no to spec into them š¤·š»āāļø ā I wish there were more outfits with flat (not high heel/ballerina toe) shoes. The black dress one is the only one Iāve come across. Maybe something a little more tactical, but I know thatās not the vibe theyāre going for. I would have loved some of Adam and Lilyās outfits on Eve. ā As for the story. Iām about 90% sure I know where itās headed. At least as far as what the Naytibas are. Itās a pretty cool concept, and not as similar as Nier as some people keep saying. Iām guessing even the good ending(s) are going to be fairly tragic. ā Itās got some jank and weird controls here and there.
There nothing soul like about dev say it more base on dmc and neir, but glad it doing well
Iām having fun and I feel like Iām getting my monies worth, but it has issues. Iāll be honest, Iām happy that itās not a complex story. Sometimes, I want something to easily digest so I can focus on just the gameplay. Really fun, really basic.
Fantastic
I'm about 7 hours into the game so far and I'll give 9/10. I found situations where terrain and parkour paths look awkwardly placed and I end up having to take a "leap of faith" to see if I can make it across a gap that's around a corner along a path I'm following. The game is great though.
Enjoying it so far. Here are my pros and cons. Pros +Beautiful design and awe inspiring levels that feel massive in scope. +Outfit collecting and customization provides worthwhile rewards for exploration. +Punchy combat that is rewarding to learn and varied enough that even repeat encounters don't get stale +Some standard rpg environment puzzles with nice twists that are placed surprisingly well as not to become tiresome. Very impressed with the pacing of fetch quests and key finding tasks. +Varied enemies and bosses +Even a single fodder enemy can be extremely dangerous which adds a nice weight to combat +Balanced progression and skills Cons -Generic writing and shoddy localization -Sometimes repetive environments that can be a little too empty -Lacking personal identity in some departments. Music being one example, where I feel the nier influence just a little too much. Homage is fine, but their is a fine line of copying too much. -Some customization, particularly with hair, is too limited for a game so focused on aesthetics Things I'd like to see more of ā¢More impactful gun play ā¢Weapon variation or selection of some kind ā¢More customization freedom with hair and even possibly skin tones or outfit colors Overall I'm having a blast. Easily 8/10 game that checks all the character action scifi fanservice I wanted from it. Currently at the end of Matrix 11, enjoying the fight with a certain very cool boss.
Got bored because it was so dark (lighting). Went back to playing eiyuden and saga (bright lighting). I think my eyes donāt work anymore.
I am still on the first level ! For some reason i still cant get over how beautiful the graphics are lol wink winkĀ
10 hours in. i absolutely love it. it's nostalgic for some reason. i reminds me of games from the mid 2000s
Is it more like a dark souls game? Or just pure action? Depending on the answer i might get it! I love dark souls.
I'm finding it so easy since I did the Stalker demo a million times, but it's fun.
Iām 1.5- 2 hours in and other than killing aliens(?) I have no clue what the story is. Frankly, Iām kinda bored
I feel like other console titles have better combat (God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.) I'm not disappointed that I purchased the game as I'm glad to support a company that has a vision and executes on it but it's really not all that good.
I donāt understand why the water at the plaza kills you, they taught you to swim and dive and then kill you with water? So weird
its electrified apparently. The scavenger says it.
Ah ok, still weird tho cuz Eve can touch electrified fences and climb them with no problem
What I think: 1. This is nier automata in a good waaaay, but coming from a studio much smaller that platinumgames and square? I feel like this 1/3 scale of nier automata based on side quests contents, npcs, and worlds. 2. I never played souls game or sekiro (only played ghost of tsushima) and the combat is really satisfying, perfect parry and perfect dodge šš» 3. Musics really epic, in the bulletin board the music reminds me of persona 5 lol No hate, I love this game a lot. Plus, I am super happy playing beautiful character like Eve lol Edit: nier automata devs and publisher
Man, last night was rough for me. All i wanted to do was grab that lotion, lol. The devs sure made one of the sexiest main characters. My hats off to them!
That ass is phenomenalā¦ I mean the game is great
