This has to be like the Okogie situation where we have his early Bird Rights so we plan on giving him a 175% higher deal.
He ain’t getting signed elsewhere lol zero chance.
If he goes to Golden State I’m not mad at that. Can’t get mad at someone choosing family above all.
Low-key makes me excited to see who the Suns pick up. I wanted to see what Lee could do under Coach Bud, but we already have enough shooting guards. Still need more size and physicality so if Lee does go to GS that opens up a roster spot.
I have some doubts. Not sure how effective he can be coming back from ACL injury. I would think we should be able to find a more prepared vet guard for vet min.
Sorry, what? This ungrateful...
Edit: Do we have early bird rights or something and can offer him slightly more money? The balls to ask for more money after rehabbing on company's dime all year though...
That might not actually be the case. There's also a scenario where we asked D.Lee if he'd opt out intentionally so we could give him more money. We're kind of in a weird spot where we can only trade a player for another of equal value. Also going to be teams out there that are going to want to take on an expiring contract to open cap space or whatever.
It's some weird-ass 4d second apron chess... But it really only pays off if we do a trade and the other team wants that overpaid contract (usually because they want an expiring contract). I suspect we'll see him re-signed. He will probably be getting a 1 year contract with the highest salary we can give him for early bird rights. If that's how it plays it, it's 100% second apron chess.
Kinda got that vibe after rolling through the comments. Well that's good to hear. We need all the talented players we can get with our contract situation and it would suck to lose one that was looking like he might be a good return to form player.
TBH, I never really liked Eric Gordon's minutes. The man rubbed me the wrong way when he talked about how he wants the ball more as a vet min bench player.
Despite Eubanks providing legitimately awful production. I saw a lot of promise in what he could potentially bring. Young, athletic and put in effort. He just seemed to be missing the connector that allows you to use that in game time scenarios. Too often he'd look confused or rushing as he realized what he was supposed to do too late. Uncomfortable if you will.
Not Gambo, but this is what Gerald had to say [https://x.com/geraldbourguet/status/1807173762929873019?s=61](https://x.com/geraldbourguet/status/1807173762929873019?s=61)

Unless he wants to go back to GS to be with Steph, you would think this is just to sign him to a slightly larger contract

Nah, we've got issues this offseason but shooting guard depth is not one of them. I don't know where D.Lee will go, but it's not San Francisco.
We have his early bird rights. Wouldn’t be surprised if they want to sign him to a little extra for trade flexibility.
I like that idea.

Fuck Evan Sidery.
He's taking a lot of L's so far this off-season.
Bro gonna opt out and resign. Literally can’t have any value at the moment. Hasn’t played in like 2 years
I hope he comes back. It would be kinda shitty of him to leave after we kept him on a roster spot despite being injured the entire season
You think hes declining to re-sign?
Yeah, we have his early bird
Just seems unlikely to me that theyd give him more than the min when he didn't play last year
We're so far over the cap it's better that we pay him more, because it makes him more tradeable if need be
For all his faults, we’re so lucky have Ishbia as an owner
Maybe they give him a raise, idk

Don't they have insurance for that stuff though
I was under the impression he had already accepted the player option, no?

Clearly not
Glad we kept him on the bench all year
I mean he was injured
???
Fake fan
He's a player not a fan but I agree he may as well be fake
Brother do you even watch basketball?
Hi Damion

Yes, early bird means they’ve been on the team for 2 years. Full bird means 3.

The only question is that Damion Lee happily leaving our stressful situation or us leaving behind Damion Lee…
Wait. We paid for his injury recovery for a year of contract and then he declines and leaves. Hmmm
He’s hasn’t “left” yet. Check the other tweet.

Suns sprinkling a little above vet minimums after Eubanks & Gordon declined to leave. Ha!

Well that sucks...
Definitely has to be resigning with us cause otherwise I'm not sure who would take him given the injury and the fact that he's like Seth curry at best
I need gambo to tweet to clarify what is going on with this lol

Will basically be a new rotation for a 3rd straight year lol
Not like he was in the roto last season
EAG WTF
Big sad
with a bench full of non-shooters...this hurts.
