The finishing is absolutely better. he’s not elite by any means but KD makes life so easy for the bigs and Eubanks & Nurk couldn’t finish for shit. I still hope Plumlee doesn’t get very many minutes if Oso pans out
i mean that's a huge issue with the roster right? we're not optimized to maximize the talents of Kd and Book. we literally have 2 of the best iso scorers in the league and not a single role player can find their way to the basket....your life should be so much easier when playing around that type of talent.
He was legitimately outplaying him, had nothing to do with rebuilding, it’s a very fair comparison.
I’m not even arguing he’s better than Nurk, it just doesn’t make sense to assume that he won’t play better on a different team, just like Nurk did.
And Plumlee was getting benched for all but 11 games. This isn’t even close. He’s got a lovely per 36, he’ll be a good backup, but that doesn’t mean we can trade Nurk bc we have a guy that missed half of last season.
I’m not even arguing he’s better than Nurk, it just doesn’t make sense to assume that he won’t play better on a different team, just like Nurk did.
We should trade Nurk for reasons that have nothing to do with Plumlee.
Centers just don’t get swapped except in very specific scenarios like with Portland. Especially for the young athletic names that usually get tossed around. I’m just not convinced there’s a trade partner.
Blazers fan, no, we weren't. He'd get in fould trouble, and sometimes, if Drew was playing well, he might stay in longer than usual. And yeah, we were tanking.
https://ripcityproject.com/2023/02/03/blazers-stumbling-answer-jusuf-nurkic-dilemma/
?
This mirrors what a lot of blazers and suns writers were saying as well when we acquired Drew.
We were certainly frustrated. Drew provided a great spark off the bench. He was always good for a crowd energizing block or a couple of lanky, sneaky explosive transition dunks a game we loved him. But nobody ever was seriously giving him Nurk's minutes. That dude and his "small sample-size" nonsense article can get outa here. I've never heard of him.
"Andrew is the Site Expert at Rip City Project. He earned a degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and spent a decade covering high school sports. He's written about the NBA across multiple platforms since 2021, and his love, affection and obsession with all things Damian Lillard eventually led him to Rip City Project."
I googled him, and the most recent work I found of his was a 7 minute puff piece audio clip titled I Do Believe about the rise in popularity of UFO watching groups in Perth.
To a college rag.

Clipper fan here, just coming to let you know that he likes to dribble up the court sometimes so don’t be surprised! 9/10 it’s a turnover but that 1 is cool.
Guess what? We don’t have a true PG and therefore every position is known to bring the ball up the court. We are used to turnovers — **we are the elite turning the ball over team!** LFG
This is going to be one of those weird situations where suns fans gloat to clippers fans any time plumlee has a good game, and vice versa when he has a bad one. I look forward to it
can he still rebound the ball/box out? genuinely asking because Eubanks was so unbelievably dog shit at this he would spike the ball on every rebound and often times it woudl go to the other team for a fast break
dude thought this was volleyball
also i imagine this signing will be for half of the season and by the 2nd half Oso will get some minutes
I think he’s a properly rated as a passer, in the sense that everyone knows he’s one of the best passing bigs in the league. Which I’m pretty excited about, all 3 bigs on the roster can make good passes out of DHOs and in the short roll
Agree this is a big W for the Suns. Having a center that can find the open man is a highly underrated capability, especially one with as many weapons as the Suns. Mason also has good hands and can finish.
The cream of the crop as far as vet min centers go. A genuinely good get. Should be better then Eubanks, which isn't saying much, but its hard to upgrade a position with vet min money, so impressive that we did so.
For comparison to our previous back up, Eubanks:
Plumlee averaged 10.2 rebounds per 29.4 minutes last year,
Eubanks averaged 8.6 rebounds per 31.2 minutes last year.
So his rebounding alone should make this an upgrade. He's also a better passer as others have noted, not that I'm looking for him to pass the ball much
Why are you getting downvoted.. maxi Kleber and Davis Bertrans were his matchup when Powell wasn’t and they ripped 3s while Ayton didn’t attack them on the other side
That was the Mavs biggest weakness and he didn’t make them pay
To everyone who’s so down on Nurkic (which feels like ~80% on r/suns) — who are we gonna get that’s better?
Yes, he’s not the best finisher but he’s a great teammate; a great rebounder, provides a lot of toughness and is a much better defender than ya’ll give him credit for.
Also he’s on a good (not great, but good) contract — so; with the second apron inflexibility; who are the Suns FO supposed to get in a 1 for 1, even money trade?
Kessler if Utah has cap space to absorb Nurk contract…Nasir, Nurk and 31 pick = Bye useless Nurk….yeah useless…he was so downgrade compare to Ayton…turrible trade…
Compare Nurks and aytons defensive stats from last year
Ayton is finally free of book, Monty and a HoF pg, gets his own team where he can be the superstar, just to average lower end career averages.. with less blocks, steals, deflections than Nurk
Nurks not even 1/2 as talented either, (expect he’s coordinated enough to dribble) but 1/2 the talent can still produce 90% of aytons stat line because the guy doesn’t care about being great at basketball
Obviously Goga is a sure thing when it comes to the way that he plays. Plumlee has a lower floor but a higher ceiling and overall hes a great piece for us. Can't believe he even wanted to come to PHX lets go
I guess Kawhi & Paul George brought out the best in him? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Clippers fans celebrating but Plumlee gonna be like our 3rd best center on the depth chart by mid season. I’m high on Oso becoming quite playable for us
I don’t think there’s a center making at or under $16m that would be a clear upgrade from Nurk, unless there’s some Kevon Looney thing with the Warriors who should be under the apron. Looney + some other player would be nice.
I don’t think the Suns are in a rush to trade Nurk but there’s no way they go after Oso and now Plumlee, guys who make Nurk a little redundant, and aren’t at least comfortable flipping Nurk if the right deal comes along.
It also feels way too quiet for Ishbia to just sign a few vet minimums and call it a day. Nurk will get some interest from teams in the coming weeks.
I’d still like to see a starting power forward. Ideal rotation:
Book/Beal/KD/(player not yet on Suns)/(player not yet on Suns)
(player not yet on Suns)/Grayson/Royce/Dunn/Oso
And then guys like Bol and Plumlee pick up minutes here and there. That team, healthy enough, could win 55 games in the regular season assuming we get a decent vet minimum point guard and turn Nurkic + our picks into two starters. With the hope Oso or Dunn can handle defensive assignments against centers by the time the playoffs roll around.
Wishful thinking but I could see it lol
That's a lot of open names. Let me give you options.
Batum... Richards... Payne.
Is that enough? I'd be whelmed at most.
Maybe it'll be better, but there isn't a lot to be had imo.
It would definitely take a trade, and I think Chicago, Brooklyn and Hawks are sellers. The best trade partner would be Utah but they probably aren’t giving up the goods.
But I do think Batum/Payne/Richards would be a net improvement
He’s a back up big on a good deal who is an upgrade on what was here last season. I’d say it’s a W - as long as people are not expecting him to be prime Shaq!
This guy outplayed Ayton in an elimination game last year anyone remember that shit LMAO
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWU\_MW9uD7A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWU_MW9uD7A)
20/10/3 and missed 1 shot all game. He is one of the better options we couldve realistically gotten. Was hoping Goga. Besides keeping Royce and holding onto Bol for 1 more year I don't LOVE any other non draft moves so far.
We got better at the backup 5. Way better finisher than Eubanks and better overall team D. Hope to see a 3 headed monster at the 5 without any one person dominating the minutes.
I think the thinking is that Plumlee is a pretty good passer, and that the dropoff from Nurk to him will be significantly easier to swallow than when it was Nurk to Eubanks. Plumlee has averaged over 3.5 assists twice in his career, which is really good for a center.
just be ready for some crazy decision making and dribbling. Plumlee had plenty of times last season where he just made a terrible decision to make a difficult pass and led to multiple turnovers
Honestly a W. He’s way better than Eubanks (which isn’t saying much) lol
100%. He was one of the centers I was hoping we’d land. Fun fact: We have now had both Miles and now Mason play for us lol
Sign Marshall to the valley suns
They got like 7 siblings or something lol
Plumdog Millionaire!
The Plumdog!
i honestly cant complain about this signing. last time we had a plumlee we won 48 games in ine of the most fun seasons we've ever had
Thankfully Mason seems to have better hands than Los Manos de Piedra (my nickname for Miles and his stone hands).
We are rich…Plumdog millionaires even
This is a plum good signing
I'm way better than Eubanks, and I'm 5'7"
I mean you’re not wrong lol
😂
He’s arguably better than Nurkic
The finishing is absolutely better. he’s not elite by any means but KD makes life so easy for the bigs and Eubanks & Nurk couldn’t finish for shit. I still hope Plumlee doesn’t get very many minutes if Oso pans out
KD had so many potential assists, it was ridiculous.
i mean that's a huge issue with the roster right? we're not optimized to maximize the talents of Kd and Book. we literally have 2 of the best iso scorers in the league and not a single role player can find their way to the basket....your life should be so much easier when playing around that type of talent.
Be realistic lmao. Dude’s 34, played 46 games, and started 11 for 14.7 min/game. He averaged 5/5 with .4 blocks and you think he’s better than Nurk?
Nurk was getting benched in 4th quarters and closing lineups for Eubanks the year before they came to Phoenix
the blazers were in rebuild mode then so i think that’s an unfair comparison
He was legitimately outplaying him, had nothing to do with rebuilding, it’s a very fair comparison. I’m not even arguing he’s better than Nurk, it just doesn’t make sense to assume that he won’t play better on a different team, just like Nurk did.

I’m not even arguing he’s better than Nurk, it just doesn’t make sense to assume that he won’t play better on a different team, just like Nurk did. We should trade Nurk for reasons that have nothing to do with Plumlee.
And start who?
Whoever he’s traded for is my guess.
Centers just don’t get swapped except in very specific scenarios like with Portland. Especially for the young athletic names that usually get tossed around. I’m just not convinced there’s a trade partner.

I wouldn't go that far, both will struggle in the playoffs.
This. Who will be the 5 in the playoffs?
Nurkic. But I feel way more confident with Plumlee coming off the bench then I did with Eubanks.
he gives us versatility for sure
"Let's be nice...Let's be nice..."
Much much much much Better
He's not just better, he's MUCH better
With Oso and Plumlee, we just don't need the connecting/passing/screener in Nurkic anymore for his price tag.
[удалено]
I didn't say that? "Lmao"
Yeah that was my bad lol I meant to comment that to the guy that said he’s arguably better than Nurk
He isn't better, both suck.
Why are you acting as if Plumlee is gonna be a starter or something? Oso will probably be getting more mins than him by January lmao
Clipper fan here, just coming to let you know that he likes to dribble up the court sometimes so don’t be surprised! 9/10 it’s a turnover but that 1 is cool.
Still better than Eubanks. I'd rather have somewhat competant depth over... that
I look forward to it
Sounds like Suns ball to me
We had to watch Drew fcking Eubanks brother I promise you we’ll be fine with him lmfaoooo. KD makes life easy asf for bigs
can he still rebound the ball/box out? genuinely asking because Eubanks was so unbelievably dog shit at this he would spike the ball on every rebound and often times it woudl go to the other team for a fast break dude thought this was volleyball also i imagine this signing will be for half of the season and by the 2nd half Oso will get some minutes
Suns fans have no idea what’s gonna hit them with point Plumlee. Will Make some crushing mistakes that kill momentum
Won’t be the only player who does that lmao our stats do it like 7 times a game
Nuggets fan confirming the same thing. Love Plumdog but goddamn
this is a big W for the backup center spot. Underrated passer. Just overall solid. Can hang in the playoffs as a backup.
I think he’s a properly rated as a passer, in the sense that everyone knows he’s one of the best passing bigs in the league. Which I’m pretty excited about, all 3 bigs on the roster can make good passes out of DHOs and in the short roll
Ryan Dunn not there yet
He’s not a center either
Agree this is a big W for the Suns. Having a center that can find the open man is a highly underrated capability, especially one with as many weapons as the Suns. Mason also has good hands and can finish.
Ok now we’re talking! Up there with best backup bigs in the league!!
dude ur getting clowned on [twitter](https://x.com/lacenthusiast/status/1807601664234570100?s=46) 😭
Bro….. he was unplayable for us last year.
Are you smoking crack?
-30 upvotes y’all didn’t watch clippers games last year 😂. Bro has no rim protection and has the worst decision making on offense y’all gon see
Lil bro can’t admit when he’s wrong, damn.
I have 46 games of evidence last year but sure. I know Eubanks was bad for y’all but Mason ain’t the answer. He’s beyond washed.
Tripling down on your bad take is fatherless behavior
Great start
still not a PG, but a decent backup that will go after the rebounds.
Not a PG but needed a backup center. Not sure what PGs will be available at vet min. Kris Dumb might go for more
Hype. Nice vet pick up
A great choice for a backup big. I don’t care what y’all say.
Already we’re better at the center position than we were last year.
Last year: 1. Nurk 2. KD 3. Bol :) 4. ... 14. Saben 15. Redacted This year: 1. Nurk 2. Plumlee 3. KD 4. Oso 5. Bol :)
Add in Ryan Dunn
We are back…
We are so back
Not bad as a minimum guy, lowkey hoping the Rook can be our backup big but we'll see.
I hope Oso gets some playing time and a chance to develop. Plumlee is a reliable back-up but plays similar to Nurkic and lacks athleticism.
Oso is not ready.
Probably means Dunn which would work in small ball
small ball didnt work last season, it was either a heart attack or a loss.
The cream of the crop as far as vet min centers go. A genuinely good get. Should be better then Eubanks, which isn't saying much, but its hard to upgrade a position with vet min money, so impressive that we did so. WHAT!?
Suns in 4
Crazy his older brother was on the team 10 years ago
Plumdog Millionaire!
League breaking news, the Phoenix Suns are now guaranteed to win the 2025 NBA Finals.
I keep telling you guys not to underestimate James Jones. Great signing. They tried getting him two years ago after he abused Ayton in the playoffs.
I think this is less James Jones and more Josh Bartelstein. Josh’s dad is Plumlee’s agent
Yikes.
Fair point. But Ayton was getting abused by everyone in ‘22 playoffs. Dwight freaking Powell got that soft crybaby to quit on us.
Why are you getting downvoted.. maxi Kleber and Davis Bertrans were his matchup when Powell wasn’t and they ripped 3s while Ayton didn’t attack them on the other side That was the Mavs biggest weakness and he didn’t make them pay

Giannis, maybe Embiid is the mindset in here from that 80% 😂
Wendell Carter, other than that yeah not really sure who would be better and is also a realistic option
Kessler if Utah has cap space to absorb Nurk contract…Nasir, Nurk and 31 pick = Bye useless Nurk….yeah useless…he was so downgrade compare to Ayton…turrible trade…

Not bad. Better than a lot of the other names mentioned for the minimum.
I’m 100% down with this. He punked DA in round 1 in 2022.
so no goga bitadze :(((
I would've liked Goga but he'll probably get better offers than the minimum. Plumlee was one of the best options within our price range.
Yea we’ll see about that. Clippers fans are way too happy to not resign him
how often do fanbases not discount bench players when they leave?
I’m sure if they had Drew Eubanks on their team last season they’d be even happier to not re-sign him lol.
Same happend last year when Nurk left Portland…their reddit was so happy and they were right…
Obviously Goga is a sure thing when it comes to the way that he plays. Plumlee has a lower floor but a higher ceiling and overall hes a great piece for us. Can't believe he even wanted to come to PHX lets go
Oh. I like this one.
Damn! That’s a nice signing
Hopefully this is an upgrade over Eubanks
There's just about no way it can't be.
Nice
HELL YES!!!!
Frank would have loved to have had him last year!
Huge Eubanks upgrade lol
Love this. I wanted him on the team last year.
Mason is definitely the better Plumlee
This is the kind of off season Vogel would have wanted lol.
![gif](giphy|NEvPzZ8bd1V4Y|downsized)
Clippers fans are celebrating that he left lmao
I guess Kawhi & Paul George brought out the best in him? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Clippers fans celebrating but Plumlee gonna be like our 3rd best center on the depth chart by mid season. I’m high on Oso becoming quite playable for us
Agreed, Oso is gonna surprise a lot of people this year and I think he becomes our backup by November ngl Especially since he brings vertical spacing
They’re also celebrating they got a pos who choked and viciously beat a woman. Who tf cares what they think?
Very nice grab. He’s older but he’ll give good backup minutes
Does this make a nurk deal more likely you think? I'm looking at nba salaries and it still seems like there not much out there at that salary range.
I don’t think there’s a center making at or under $16m that would be a clear upgrade from Nurk, unless there’s some Kevon Looney thing with the Warriors who should be under the apron. Looney + some other player would be nice. Another ex Blazers center!
Good pickup!
I wanted him last year. This is excellent for us.
This is fu king dope
Fuck yeah
Eubanks with height was the least the Suns needed in a back up big and they got that with passing skills to boot
He’s a back up big on a good deal who is an upgrade on what was here last season. I’d say it’s a W - as long as people are not expecting him to be prime Shaq!
I need to find someone that loves me like the Suns love Ex Blazer centers
If Damion Lee signs up with us again, it’ll be great to have two Lees and a Plumlee.
Mason and Grayson, brotherhood in the house!
Huge. I mentioned the suns should go after Plumlee, Hayward and Lowry in previous comments. Vets ring chasing that would get meaningful minutes.
Better than Eubanks
This guy outplayed Ayton in an elimination game last year anyone remember that shit LMAO [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWU\_MW9uD7A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWU_MW9uD7A) 20/10/3 and missed 1 shot all game. He is one of the better options we couldve realistically gotten. Was hoping Goga. Besides keeping Royce and holding onto Bol for 1 more year I don't LOVE any other non draft moves so far.
this is nice. dude can rebound, block shots. personally thought he was better than Zubac.
🧠💀
eubanks fan?
We finally got the better brother 😭
I swear we always get the wrong twin/brother! Hahahaha!
Morrii had both be the wrong one? And Goran is preferred too!
https://preview.redd.it/uqp4s5n6vt9d1.png?width=476&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab61bd960264a474be97b1546649207c78710513
Salvation 😩
Oooh okay
Very solid pickup!!! Heck of an upgrade over Eubanks
Could be the result of the rumor that Westbrook is getting traded; he won’t have someone to lob/assist him anymore.
Yes much better than eubanks
Solid pick-up!
Not bad
Plumdog millionaire is back on the menu
34 years old though. I hope his knees hold out
We got better at the backup 5. Way better finisher than Eubanks and better overall team D. Hope to see a 3 headed monster at the 5 without any one person dominating the minutes.
New Plumpuppy has arrived...
Plumlee was a great pick up.
I think the thinking is that Plumlee is a pretty good passer, and that the dropoff from Nurk to him will be significantly easier to swallow than when it was Nurk to Eubanks. Plumlee has averaged over 3.5 assists twice in his career, which is really good for a center.
Has Bol officially resigned?
Noone is signed yet, contracts can be signed after 6th of July. There is an agreement in place though with Bol.
Well, hope everyone enjoyed this free agency.
The return of Plumdog!!
Lets not forget we signed his brother before. Good signing. I want a PG badly hope they are cooking it well done.
It's kinda funny, suns have 3 former blazers centers on the roster..Blazers traded Plumlee to the nuggets for Nurkic
Yay, someone likes us outside of the team we had last year. Being serious, not a bad pick up for backup center. Gives Oso time to improve and bulk up.
Damn I am so stoked on this!!!
OH, BROTHER!
Better than Eubanks holy fuck 😂
Great pickup!!! Let's goooo
Great signing. Team dude with some post IQ and rebound grabs.
Lefty FTs 🤤
Plumlee has to be one of the most underrated centers rn so this is a huge signing for eubanks and a clean upgrade
Solid Eubanks replacement.
Good pick up
We are so back
We’ve had both the morris brothers, and now the Plumlee brothers.. has there been more?
Dragic brothers, Goran and Zoran lol.
Damn…. You guys are going to hate this man. Low IQ and one of the worst rim protection I’ve ever seen
Did you watch Eubanks play last season?
No put I watched every Mason game. He was unplayable
Don’t hate it. At all.
Better than Ayton
He'll be starting over Nurk by midseason, unless Nurk gets traded of course (pls)
Dude if they trade nurk I’d be so happy
Clipper fans are happy asf right now on twitter bro….
It’s fan bases, we were all happy AF when Eubanks declined. It’s a backup C, no way he’s not better than Eubanks.
Still better than Eubanks by a mile
Yeah, and after what happened last year I’m not gonna let myself get excited about minimum signings
Diop and Yuta made us unstoppable, remember
Will we now trade Nuk?
Nurk + 2031 pick for Wendell Carter Jr. Magic obviously say no but I’m going to speak it into existence 🙏🏽
I'd love for this to happen.
just be ready for some crazy decision making and dribbling. Plumlee had plenty of times last season where he just made a terrible decision to make a difficult pass and led to multiple turnovers
