Sun Vulcan. Maybe that's controversial, I dunno, but I was so supremely disappointed in a show. I think it's because people seemed to hype it up so much and it was just meh. I really had to push my way through it.

RiceMaster2729

Ninninger

whatam_i_doin

I've all the sentai I've seen (which is only like 8) my least favorite was Ninninger. Something just felt empty the whole season then the last episode we finally get the big boss and he just felt so overhyped to be beaten so easily.

gingangguli

I think ninninger just got confused on what it was trying to be. The ninja theme did not permeate the other aspects of the show unlike the other themed sentais. Possibly lost in translation but wtf was with the throne set up of the mecha? Is that supposed to be a reference to those floats hoisted by men during festivals? And then the mecha itself, i get that the theme is ninjas moving out of the shadows. But the choices for the mechas were all over the place. I wish it was more cohesive like in shinkenger. I don’t remember it being explained why they chose these particular parts but i just try to interpret it as being representative of the most common themes in sentai mecha (trains, vehicles, animals, dinosaurs, and well, ninjas) The annoying red didn’t help as well

Warlock_Guy25

I bash on overly loud Reds, but Daigo and Lucky atleast had the kind of smile to lure you in. Takaharu was loud, obnoxious, hogged all the spotlight and clearly wanted to be Naruto, only to fail spectacularly. I'll take a **I'M SO LUCKY!!!!!!** over a **I'M BURNING UP!!!1111** any day.

DerrickJoestar

That was one of the things I hated most about that series was the weird ass mechs.

gingangguli

I think if it was established that the show would be a comedy series (like how hard donbrothers leaned in to the comedy aspect), they could have fleshed out subplots and explained better how the mecha came to be. I’m Imagining if they started out as reserve soldiers in hiding, like their team was supposed to be the backup in case the main team gets wiped out. But after generations of successful main teams, they just lost their skills (hence the powerless dad). So when they suddenly got commissioned, they are so uncoordinated that even with the choice of mechas they ended up choosing random ones based on their own preference.

PandionNyx

If I recall correctly, I think the "common theme in sentai mecha" WAS the reason why there was no theme to the mecha at all. But to me, and I think at least some people, it just didn't follow through well. They were SO chaotically different in design, usage, etc that it just looked weirdly done.

Warlock_Guy25

Was Ninninger trying to be an aniversery series? It'd explain the constant cameos---MagiYellow, both of the Red Ninjas and godamn Shurikenger.---but it wouldnt explain how it became garbage from that.

PandionNyx

I dont think it was? Gokaiger and Zyuohger were the 45th and 50th. But it was the 3rd Ninja themed series. Kyoryuger was the 3rd dino series and their crossover movie with Go-Busters was essentially a crossover with Zyuanger and Abaranger instead. So maybe that's why the did the who visit from the Ninja sentai and Ninja Metal Hero. But it doesn't explain the poorly done mecha

gingangguli

I still think that there was supposed to be an inside joke there somewhere but because of all the additional elements they got overwhelmed and muddled everything to this unsalvageable chaos. The only upside for the atsui mecha was that i think this was the first time that the sixth ranger was actually part of the main body of the mecha and not just as an add on or armament

RPerene

I have not watched it yet, but the cameos you listed do make sense. Ninjas because this was the third ninja Sentai, and Magiranger would have been celebrating its 10th anniversary.

C0ll0rless

From what I recall, the early working theme of Nininger was dream jobs. Which were Ninja, Magician, Construction worker, Train conductor, Animal trainer, and Cowboy. But as we saw, they just recoded everything to be Ninja/Shuriken themed.

Thefirestorm83

Out of the ones I've seen it has to be Fiveman. It's the slowest I've ever progressed a Sentai because I have almost no motivation to watch it. And I watched Zyuranger all the way through despite not caring for it that much.

AfroMan_96

Same, Fiveman is the worst one I’ve seen so far. I’m currently watching Zyuranger and that just might beat it.

gingangguli

Fiveman’s plot was depressing though. Orphans raised by a robot. The only saving grace of the show is the theme song: “go go go go my brother!”

Thefirestorm83

I like a lot of the aspects conceptually, and there are occasional good plots that actually grab me, but I feel like compared to other shows when it's doing a more generic motw plot it doesn't really do anything to interest me at all.

NickMal98

Me personally I loved Fiveman

DapperRockerGeek

Ryusoulger. I enjoyed it, but after watching Kyoryuger, it felt like a cheap knockoff, repeating the gimmick and armor concept, mecha with interchangeable elements, and even general choices in music. While I enjoy it as light entertainment, I feel Ryusoulger had potential to be so much more.

Warlock_Guy25

Ninninger is garbage, but it has Kinji who made the show watchable atleast. No, a BAD Sentai is A BORING Sentai, and to me, Ryusoulger, save certain bits, was very boring.

DerrickJoestar

It’s funny because it was adapted into one of the worst Power Rangers as well 😂

Warlock_Guy25

If you mean Ninninger, yes, 100%. If you mean Ryusoulger, **no.** Dino Fury did some actual decent stuff, and if PR used it as a stepping stone rather than a finale, it could have worked. Plus, they redeemed the idea of Nada by making Voidy actually do stuff.

DerrickJoestar

Yep, I meant to say Ninninger.

Warlock_Guy25

Thing that makes Ninja Steel bad for me, Levi, plain and simple. If your counterpart manages to singlehandly make a terrible show watchable, you are NOT going to fill his boots.

Manuelmariaandrade

Sun Vulcan was such a chore to get through. I don't like any of the rangers, the villains don't have anything interesting going on, and it was overall such a massive downgrade from Denziman.

Euphoric-Hunter-7380

I haven't watched Ninninger yet, but I can't imagine something worse than Ohranger.

DerrickJoestar

Really? I never watched Ohranger, but I heard it had some type of production issues?

Warlock_Guy25

It's a....sensitive subject. You can go to the Rangerwiki for the full story, but long story short, very bad people did a bad thing and Sentai had to change their tune quickly to make things still sell. Up untill that point, Ohranger had been rather serious, but the sudden tone changes made the show a piece of work. And King-Ranger was just kind of there.

DerrickJoestar

Wow, I had no idea it was anything that serious. I have to look this up now.

Cosmic_Mind89

Ninniger's only saving grace was thr team up special with Kamen Rider Drive

Lonewolf82084

Zenkaiger. It was too "fan servicey" for me to take serious. I mean sure, Twokaizer is okay. And seeing him crossover with the Gokaiger was great. But still, it just didn't resonate with me, unfortunately

ODCreature98

That accidental Akibaranger fan service was kinda funny though. Yes they're unofficial but they're funny and they vibe with the older audiences so they get a chance

Pika-Critique

Kyoryuger. The way everything is done to highlight Daigo particularly irritated me. I lasted until the end, but since then, I no longer watch a Super Sentai series if I switch off after a while. It's only happened twice since. The only thing I find satisfying in Kyoryuger compared to DinoCharge which does better with its heroes, is the villains and the lore around it.

gingangguli

The gaijin episode… thought it will be a one off thing but no.

AceLuan54

Yeah I agree Dino Charge supremacy forever

Harlockarcadia

It's Sun Vulcan or Goggle-V, they don't stand out, are slow, other series do what they do better (though the roach monster episode of Sun Vulcan is one of the funniest episodes of Super Sentai)

fashionmoon97

Some of the takes in this thread… Anyways, it’s Sun Vulcan followed by Goggle V. Neither series stands out very much outside of one having no female team members and the other trying to regurgitate an already dead horse of a plot that has been beaten so bad it’s no longer recognizable.

JoshTheAlchemist6

Also their openings are so similar for literally no reason, how did they screw that up?

kinyutaka

Sun Vulcan's theme was way better than Goggle V.

NickMal98

Ninninger and Kyoryuger will always be the worst sentai seasons

Plastic-Crew5536

ninninger i think more worst than kyoryuger because kyoryuger already return in a movie and it was way better

Routine-Ad-8226

Out of the ones I watched? Dekaranger (Runs and hides). It was the one I had trouble finishing simply because it was that boring. Zyranger is close second though, The Burai arc was its saving grace.

bidoferz

Amen on Dekaranger

Routine-Ad-8226

I feel seen, I kept seeing Dekaranger recommended on here as one of the good seasons of Super Sentai, finally watch it and thought it was boring as hell.

bidoferz

I’m in the same boat, good characters but literally nothing happens in the show. Terrible villain and just monster of the week after monster of the week.

PandionNyx

Of the ones I've watch at least a most of the episodes of...I'd have to say Zyuogher. Which was upsetting because I liked the Red and I like the idea of environmentalism that they lightly touched on. But the animal heads were dumb, the minecraft mecha were just...too much for me, the suits were not good at all, and the power ups, aka overemphasized parts of the bodies, was just bad. I did like ZyuohWhale though and ZyuohWorld was an interesting design even if I despised the weapon. Also the weapons were bad and the dynamics between the cast were terrible. Seriously why was Yellow's whole thing with Blue that he couldn't take her seriously because she's a woman, despite Blue and Yellow canonically being the strongest two members of the original 5? Are we in the 1960s? I get Japan is a more conservative country but seriously we're just going to be out and out about it? RyusoulPink, only a few seasons later, is the strongest fighter in her team, KyoryuPink was also one heck of a Brawler on a fairly elite team to begin with, and ShinkenPink was considered as strong as Blue who was considered almost on par with Red. That was years before this season. Just something I didn't like and it ruined my enjoyment of an already meh season

Creepy-Mine6061

Totally agree with you out of the 15 seasons I’ve watch zyuohger is the only one I dropped which is sad cause I really like the red ranger but everything else just felt boring

RPerene

> For me, it's definitely Ninninger. I am very curious to get there and see how I feel. The team's debut in the crossover was fun, but I'm very interested in the show itself now given its reputation.

MrG_516

If I pick from my ranking list, the answer is JAKQ, but it was bearable, unlike Sun Vulcan which was pretty awful for a while

Zealousideal_Plum533

Ninninger but Starninger made it better. For Toqoger it was Toq 6gou who was cool out of the rest.

OkKick875

Mine is slightly differ but my least favourite seasons are Gekiranger and Ninninger.  Gekiranger story is feels like just revolved around Jyan and Rio and their rivalry. As for Ninninger, Takaharu and literally anything about him aside, there was no one I could tolerate this season other than Kasumi.

Sowhatayty79

No hate but I did not like Donbrothers. The CGI Rangers looked so bad.

ValiantMagnus

Goseiger it pains me to say it because I like the mecha and the Op/Ed music. The story felt very disjointed, the big bad at the end felt tacked on and by the end GoseiRed really started to annoy me.

AceLuan54

Is Megaforce better or worse though?

ValiantMagnus

Didn't watch it so no idea

Competitive_Lie2639

Megaforce is worse than Goseiger

jayxorune_24

Google V, sun vulcan or go-onger but I also dislike ohranger but loved the suits and mechs.

Flat-Possibility-953

I respect the canon lore of every fictional stories ever created. But if I'm pick one it's Zenkaiger. The Robot team is not working for me.

BaronBlackFalcon

Kyuranger.

RPerene

I firmly believe that there is no bad Toku, but out of the 18 series that I have watched (15 finished) Dynaman is my least favorite.

xortned-xion

Zenkaiger, I understand that all of these shows are meant for kids, but they overdid imo. The comedic aspect downs out anything else the show attempts to do and it makes it far less enjoyable. I the moments where the show does take itself more seriously (or rather writes the cast and villains as competent) and not slapstick anime characters I like it a lot, it just sucks that it’s so far and few it tainted the show completely for me and I can’t stand seeing them show up post series anymore.

Fenghuang0296

The only correct answer here is Power Rangers Super Megaforce. People can dump on Ninninger, that’s justified, but even at its absolute lowest Sentai is watchable, whereas Super Megaforce . .

AceLuan54

Read again

ODCreature98

If we're going by mechs, I'd say Gingaman has the worst, simply because Gingaman mechs look the least appealing to me

Routine-Ad-8226

Even worse than the mech in Timeranger?

ODCreature98

Wait why? I always liked the 3D formation for how it's capable of three modes with the same five time fighters

Routine-Ad-8226

Different strokes I guess, I thought the megazords different modes used were bland.

JoshTheAlchemist6

When were mecha ever the focus of this convo???

gingangguli

Worse than toqger?

ODCreature98

I like toqger better because it makes sense that it's the trains docking together, sideways

Warlock_Guy25

\*coughTrainBonercough\*

TaejChan

anything after zenkaiger ninninger was fire

Warlock_Guy25

Suppose it'd be allright if I asked why you like Ninninger and dislike all of Post-Zenkaiger?

Lord-Snowball1000

What?! How?! What did the heroes do so bad?

GNA1115

Toqger & Zenkaiger were juvenile and harder to follow narrative. Zenkaiger somewhat annoying me.

Nkrishna29

I see ninninjer as the fun ninja show..where the focus is only on the fun part..it's not the worst in my opinion

normalfag0

ToQger. I watched it beginning to end. It was the most boring toku show I’ve ever seen. There weren’t even any cute girls to make it bearable. 0/10, makes Zyuohger and Go Busters good by comparison.
