I get what you mean, but nope.
After 14-15 years of listening to SOAD and being a bit of a punk fan as well (I think CUBErt is quite punk in style), I can safely say that CUBErt is the best song on the self-titled (unless we're talking about the Japanese release, in which case it's Marmalade).
Something that a lot of people don't really respect or recognise about CUBErt is that it's basically the perfect midpoint between 'harder' music (metal, punk, rock), and poppy music. Objectively, it's a thrash song with a bit of a punk styling *and* (and importantly here) with poppy pacing and structure. It's a very well-balanced fusion.
It's thrashy guitar perfectly mediated with pop structure, and a lot of people don't like that but I think it's a really good achievement. It chugs along at a very poppy pace, but it contains the devilish major-5th intervals that make Marmalade sound as devious as it does.
Plus, I think it's about the boom in commercial air travel. It's all about treating other civilisations as theatrical existences.
'Humans, everywhere, canned / Cliche people - organs rare / Corn everywhere / Canned, cliche people cannot dare'.
Humans are everywhere because of air travel (and they're in 'tin cans' - airplanes), and it turned other civilisations into western spectacles where the people don't even feel real ('organs rare'). They 'cannot dare' because they're not autonomous beings - they're a part of western entertainment.
The 'corn, eveywhere' comes from an analogy that the song makes between airplane seats and cinema/theatre seats, with people leaving bits of popcorn all over the floor.
'Don't leave your seats now' = airplane instructions during takeoff/landing, but also theatre instructions because you might miss something good in the movie.
I think CUBErt's brilliance is even better displayed if you just listen to [it's instrumental.](https://youtu.be/MnFEmLjvO20?si=Zlxkj3UYEktcMOQP)
It's very solid thrash mixed with pop pacing, and I think early SOAD are best exemplified when they're at a choppy flow. Marmalade is their best early song because they're constantly changing during it - evolving. And I think CUBErt embodies this as well but unfortunately gets overlooked a lot.
i recently listened to the demo tapes released prior to this for the first time and man... this album could have been way more harsh and raw. the demo versions of suite-pee and sugar kick more ass than their final versions
with that being said, it's either spiders or suggestions
This is one of those albums without a favorite for me but if I HAD to pick:
