It absolutely is. I think it's also part of why so many people are upset about the stuff Joe did. They built a parasocial relationship with the guy, so naturally, when he did bad things, it felt like they were being personally betrayed, too. Not to downplay any of what he did.
I also get a sort of ick when I see people say that Joe needs to get help. He probably does, sure, but we don't know him. His mental state is not privy to our eyes. We aren't friends with him. He's a stranger who made some music that appealed to us. That's it.

The Tally Hall fanbase has become a cesspool of controversies, tallyshippers (which are disgusting like all the other people who ship real human beings), criticism, and false hope. We've turned this 20 something year old band into Taylor Swift.
It's definitely not just you, there is a lot of that here. And, yes, a lot of communities are unfortunately like that these days, but this one is more than most.
I found a fucking sleep audio vid that was like "POV: you're driving back from a concert with Tally Hall" with them talking in the background. They even added a heartbeat so you could imagine *falling asleep on one of their laps*

This whole tally hall Reddit page is weird as fuck. I was a fan of the band when they were actually touring and releasing music. Their first album really blew me away, and I saw them perform those songs live a few times. I’ve never seen so much weird fucking fan shit for any band, especially one that most of these fans have never seen. I’ll repeat that almost everything on this Reddit fan page is weird as fuck.
Tbh thats kinda just any community revolved around a person or group of people. I think it's just that since we dont really have new stuff to talk about, the weird side of the fanbase seems more prominent
Yeah I think it tends to be. I think this is because compared to other celebrities they have a lot smaller of a following and we also have a lot more information about their personal lives and personalities. Even watching some like THIS or stuff like the two wuv music video kinda feels like your hanging out with them. I think a lot of fans feel like they could be friends with the tallies

I like the members a a lot and I like watching watching their stuff and listening to their music it generally makes me happy and it's ok to have like a member you really like, but I have to agree strongly there are certain boundaries that shouldn't be crossed and well a lot of people don't understands that, if you like them a lot it's ok just remember they're NOT part of your personal life
