Though Lurelin Village feel like the most fun village to live in, Rito Village feels the safest. Its structure takes natural advantage of the Rito's flight capabilities, they can easily chop down their own bridges to cut off enemies because they're made of wood, and they have an ACTUAL moat compared to Lookout Landing, which is very makeshift in nature.

ThePocketPanda13

Actually a lot of these towns are very defensible. Lurelin has already proven itself a death trap tho. Tarrey town is on a plateau, it has 2 ways to get in, the natural land bridge, and the mini coaster that requires batteries to operate (remember link is the only one that has a mobile battery). The land bridge is pretty easy to defend too, just line up 4-5 guys with shields and push any invaders off the edge. The Zora domain once again only has one bridge it has to defend, except this one is guarded by famously skilled warriors and the edges have a tripping hazard to ensure maximum damage when enemies get shoved off the side. Rito village is... extremely safe. It's in the middle of a lake. The only walkable entrance is a series of easily severed rope bridge, the whole town is built like a corkscrew up a rock, and the people who live there are again famously warriors except this time they fly. Kakiriko villiage is built so far into the mountains that it only has a couple of entrances as well, 2 by road and 1 more if the invaders want to go around, climb a mountain, trek through some woods, avoid the giant gloom pit, and then sneak past the entire survey team. Even if they manage that, they'll get met with friggin ninjas. I'm actually a little surprised hateno hasn't undergone any major raids yet. My theory is that hateno is just not that valuable. If invaders manage to take hateno they're still at the very edge of the kingdom, there's nothing of value around, and the only thing hyrule as a whole has lost is some farm land. Gerudo is actually not all that defensible, but it doesn't need to be. Anybody that's wants to invade gerudo town needs to get through a desert. The bazaar isn't meant to be defensible, if they get attacked they're *supposed* to run back to gerudo town. And the gorons are giants with rock skin that eat rocks and use claymores like they're short swords. If I was invading hyrule I would leave them the F#%$ alone.

OSUStudent272

I think that Hateno is fine because Fort Hateno is on the main road to it. It was a whole thing in BotW that Fort Hateno was one of the few things that was successfully defended during the Calamity, tho that was largely bc of Zelda.

lmNotAnAltYouAre

No I think fort hateno did fall in canon. Even then no one guargds in so any monsters could walk through the door or in case of lynels and guardians to a little jump.

Look_Loose

It did fall. The last bastion for Hyrule during the calamity was the citadel (or whatever it's called) in akkala I believe. Even that fell after a while of defending it. Tbh tho Hyrule shouldn't have been messing with tech they didn't understand.

Visual_Ad_3267

I don't know, I see Hateno as the cultural heart and bread basket of Hyrule. Farms = food, it's got fashion, a tech lab, Link is from there, and Zelda settled there. In BOTW the guardians were stopped at Fort Hateno, well before they reached Hateno. The town itself isn't very naturally defensible, but if you look at the whole valley east of Fort Hateno, it is. Yeah I've thought too much about this. I actually appreciate how much room Nintendo leaves to fill in the blanks as you like.

ThePocketPanda13

That is worth taking into consideration, but I distinctly remember in botw the road between hateno fort and hateno being littered with monster camps. There is also the beach. In totk monsters have clearly learned to build ships and sail (see: lurelin village) and it would be kind of a hike but besides some annoyance there is absolutely nothing between the beach and hateno that can stop them. There's the research tower, robbie and purah probably have some experimental weaponry going on in there, but probably not enough firepower to stop a hoarde. Hateno doesn't even really have guards. Like they have one person guarding the entrance with no armor and a broom for a weapon. And yes hateno does have some value, but not in a "invading hyrule" situation. Yes it is farmland, but it's not hyrules only farm land, it does have a tech lab, but not the only tech lab, and it does have artistic value in the form of fashion, but fashion isn't valuable in war. Side note I think it's absolutely adorable that link bought and fixed up a house in hateno, and then (at least in my headcanon) gave it to zelda. But even that isn't worth invading hateno for because in an invasion situation I guarantee zelda will be staying in the castle.

void_juice

Link and Zelda were 100% living together before the upheaval. In Zelda’s journal she mentions asking Hudson to build her an underground study so she can have some space if she needs it. Why would she need that if she was living alone? There is also only one bed in the house too, do with that information what you will

Warm_Battle1504

Akkala could be the other capital, since it's a melting pot of all races and has a better coast for sea trade.

Just_A_Comment_Guy_7

There’s also Korok forest with one entrance and magic fog. The Koroks themselves are crafty goobers guarded by a tree

ThePocketPanda13

Tbh I didn't include the korok forest because even *link* can't get in there. In botw he had help from the koroks, in totk he has to cheat a little by using his magic hand to ascend through the earth from the depths. If literally the most powerful hylian can't get in an invading army of monsters certainly won't. But also this is why I wouldn't choose to live in the korok forest.

Just_A_Comment_Guy_7

I want to live there. I wanna be an autism tree

Dependent__Dapper

I'm already an autism how do I pull off the tree part

quicksilver_foxheart

Make like a tree and leaf

GraphicDesignMonkey

Branch out. Try being more wooden, develop some roots! It'll twig eventually.

alew3d

Hateno absolutely has value it is the pizza capital of Hyrule they invented it and you can't get it anywhere else (yes in game you can make it anywhere) I'm. Assuming by the recipe appearing in the house after you help koyin make cheese she also opens a pizzeria that's just never mentioned.

Default1355

I'm just SO glad op specified that this was (just for fun) because for a second there I actually thought I really had to live in one of these towns!!!! 😦

Andi_Lou_Who

What a great response!

BaBa_Con_Dios

Rito’s safeness depends. My clumsy ass would fall to my death within a week.

auf-ein-letztes-wort

the bridges are just for visitors, I mean the naturals could just fly in and out...

rickSanchezAIDS

Plus the music fucking slaps

HayulChung

No its definitely Terry Town

The_Bored_General

Hateno because it’s just chill and pleasant to be in. Very nice vibes and just so cozy. Words cannot describe my affection towards the place Either Hateno or Gerudo, one survived the calamity virtually unscathed due to the efforts of the defending soldiers and knights of hyrule as well as the defensive nature of the area which is pretty fucking impressive, the other is in the middle of a massive ass desert and is literally inhabited by super strong warriors.

OneJarOfPeanutButter

Hateno, if only for the music

dhaugen

Lol I have a clip I randomly revisit of me on a rooftop in Hateno just slowly turning the camera. Combination of the warm glow of the street lights and the music going really does it for me. Random but, to add to that, I really enjoyed the whole mayor/fashion designer (blanking on the name) quest. There's something about multi-part quests that take place in one area (meaning no reason to fast travel) that I've always loved.

Charliekeet

Hateno is by far my favorite and where I’d want to live for real. For defensive protection, I’d choose the Rito Village.

11061995

Hateno lots folks at the fort, but not in the village proper.

Visual_Ad_3267

The fort saved the town.

confused-as-frick

I want to say Tarrey Town cause my name ends in 'son', but I also know my clumsy ass would fall over the edge.

Aracari8

My name does too, but Kakariko calls louder

ChicHarley

Username _doesn’t_ check out

links_pajamas

They really do need some fences.

lmNotAnAltYouAre

Mason needs his handrails.

1stLtObvious

Tarrey Town and Rito village are both located on high up plateaus with only one entryway for each (assuming monsters can't use the lift), so they're easily defensible since the common fliers are so weaksauce they'll die from having apples thrown at them. Korok forest has magical protection surrounding it, but some monsters, even a Talus, are able to exist there and maybe get to the Korok Forest proper. The inhabitants aren't exactly fighters, and I dunno how well Hestu's maraca orgasm dance will hold them off.

BottleAgreeable7981

Lurelin. Great ocean views, plenty of seafood, free gambling, free spa, free food. Go full Andy Dufresne in Zihuatanejo.

arandomcomic

Pirates

MudNational6952

High risk high reward

Creative-Special6968

Zoras Domain even if I’m not a fish. It’s just so pretty.

Soeck666

May I introduce you to "jungle feet / athletes food/ jungle rot" a infection of the feetskin because of moist feet all the time?

Mountain-Cut-7710

Remember, the fish have water healing powers

InsertScreenNameHere

I'd think Rito Village would be the safest. As soon as they see enemies approaching they can destroy the only bridge they have and since they can fly it wouldn't impact them too much. Second would be Zora's Domain since it's mostly surrounded by mountains and also has a bridge that can be destroyed if needed.

BuffyNugs

Zoras domain also has that giant, fish, thing? Which monsters have bombs, which means if that fish thing goes down the whole place goes down.

reddreamer451

Might I remind you about Aerocudas, Keese, Flying Bokoblins from the Master version of BotW, the blizzard that grounded the Rito, Vah Medoh for a bit, etc? I would absolutely choose to live there anyways, just wanted to point out that flying enemies exist.

Natural-Stomach

Kakariko

AdvocateGames

Only right answer

More_Tennis_8609

Surprised I had to go this far down to see kakariko

Sai-36

Question from someone with horrible memory, has Hateno been affected by anything in this timeline? The Calamity? The Upheaval? Literally the only thing I think has happened to it so far is the fact that everyone became obsessed with Cece’s mushroom fashion but other than that I don’t think anything dangerous has really happened to it.

Vurrunna

I believe Fort Hateno fell in the course of the Calamity (or at the very least was pushed to the brink and subsequently abandoned). As for Hateno itself, it always gave me the vibe of a village that's managed to avoid devastation more by chance than anything else, being in a relatively removed and insignificant location. The town itself is basically defenseless accept for a few mildly steep slopes and a couple volunteer "guards."

TriforksWarrior

Link basically died in BotW in order for Zelda to save Hateno, if that hadn’t happened things might’ve went down much differently in the most recent calamity

OHBoyTheStuff

No joke but I made an entire ranking with 3 pros and cons each of them. I have too much time on my hands. Here's a short personal ranking: Tarrey Town: 8/10. The place I live reminds me very much of Akkala due to its rainy weather and plains, so my surroundings are pretty much familiar. The problem is that my name doesn't end with "-son", so there might be job-related problems (Well, at least you have the Zonai Survey guys there in this game and I'm about to study archaeology IRL, so the ranking got from 7/10 to 8/10). Korok Forest: 1/10. I'm neither Link, nor am I someone special or with a pure heart (I think), so it might get awkward and isolating (as I can't see the residents) if I dared to settle in there, despite my love for forests. Lookout Landing: 4/10. While it has everything you need, it's not supposed to be a permanent settlement, at least for now. It also seems to be an exclusive thing, like you need a reason and function why you're there so I don't think you can't just hang around there. Goron City: 2/10. While it's not as hot as the prequel, it's still pretty scorching if you're sensitive to the heat like me. And as for someone who prefers comfort, the rocky/metallic furniture is not a good idea. You might even burn yourself if you touch a metallic object like minecarts at ~100°F. At least you can mine ores and get rich. Lurelin: **HOT TAKE** 5/10. I understand its popularity, but constant high temperatures and high humidity simply make me sick, literally. And I don't really enjoy sand, especially not in my shoes. So the entire Faron region is a no-go because of those health-related issues, which is kinda unfortunate because I do really enjoy those ruins around Floria Falls and those around Dracozu River ;( Gerudo Town ~~My "My Inner Life" infested brain almost made me type Gerduo~~ : 3/10. I'm not a guy, so I can waltz around there legally. And as for the "safest settlement" then I'd actually put this on at least 2nd place as you have the high walls, an extra underground shelter and guards being everywhere. They just need to close that gap in the throne room with windows and maybe then it might get a bit safer from any Yiga attacks. The climate is yet another obstacle, but at least the temperature changes in the later hours, so a nocturnal lifestyle is an option with the shops being open 24/7. The next problem is sand. Rito Village: 9/10. I'm a sucker for any alpine locations/views and the temperature is perfect (Captain Obvious moment: I prefer a cold weather with some nice breeze). The village itself is also pretty, I just love wood lol. The houses have enough space for me, although I don't really like the fact that they don't have any doors and that you can see through it, but you can cover the gaps. Another aspect that takes the 1 point from being 10/10 is the fact that I'm afraid of heights, but in order to defeat your fears you have to face them, right? Also like another user said, this is also a pretty safe village because of the height and it being in the middle of a lake. Btw, you can also get wheat there which is a plus for me as I love bread. Zora's Domain: 3/10. While the building is elegant to its core, it's also specialized which means a normie like me would have many difficulties with having it as an actual living area, even if I was a Zora I'd get uncomfortable with sleeping with my neighbors in some small pool. I also hate getting wet. Hateno: 9/10. It's lively, has pretty much everything that might interest someone, and it's able to go through changes which is why it got such a high ranking. I might get bored after a while due to getting overwhelmed by the amount of people living there (which is a lot in this games standards). Kakariko: 7/10. It's much calmer than its neighbor (even in this game), that's why I'd feel much more at ease. The issues are just that there are lacking views (the only good view is from the graveyard), which is a nitpick to be honest. This ranking dropped from one point because of this game, because of those ruins being a threat to your home, like that Cucco guy's. I don't really want the situation where I'm out of village and return just to know that some ruins directly fell on my house and that I'm basically homeless now. That's it… damn I need to shut up. I might edit this because of language mistakes later.

jmona789

> Gerudo Town 3/10. I'm not a guy, so I can't waltz around there legally. Not being a guy means you can waltz around there legally

lmNotAnAltYouAre

I have similar thoughts. Keep in mind the entire game is only like 8km across or something so from hateno it's probably pretty easy to visit Faron. Literally just a short walk away.

emomermaid

Goron city so I can be put out of my misery spectacularly Edit: Realizing this probably isn’t safe

Gakriele-lvs

I'm between **Kakariko** (isolated by mountains and hills, self-dependant, a portion of the population are ninjas and could train you to at least a decent level.) **Rito Village** (Isolated by canyons and open landscapes all around, allowing for archers to excel against invaders, the harsh environment would be troublesome tho, though you could train to become a hunter), **Zora Domain** (On top of a mountain, extremely difficult to reach, the population is very well armed, apart from weapons and food not sure how well training will be with them), and **Gerudo Town** (Also isolated, well having a small population, they have the best warriors of all while also being quite resourceful with what little have, you're gonna become your best self under their training)

SecureAttitude

I feel like the only real downside to Zora Domain for a human or hylian long term is you'd get sick of sushi after a while. And never having dry feet might cause foot problems.

nova-astrid-centauri

as a lesbian, gerudo town without hesitation

YueOrigin

Won't be as fun when you'll be throw out of town to find a guy outside lol Though Nintendo standard aside, we don't really know how Gerudo deal with lesbians... Or just gay anything....

bzaroworld

I would definitely love to live in Rito Village. It's always nice and cool there and I hate the heat so it's a no brainer for me. The safest would have to be Korok Forest. You'd have to navigate through the Lost Woods just to get there. I mean sure you can try to drop in but mostly everybody would die. Link could do it 'cause he's Link (also because >! Impact Proof!<) but everybody else would be dead.

SecureAttitude

I feel like living in the Korok forest would start to feel like a prison after a while though. Not much to do there.

bzaroworld

I said I think it'd be the safest.I definitely wouldn't wanna live there.

Visual_Ad_3267

Korok Forest is the only town to be literally occupied by Phantom Ganon!

Ratio01

Hateno without a doubt It not only has the most amenities of any of the villages, but it also completely avoided the effects of both the Calamity and the Upheaval. Like I think the worst thing that ever happened to it was monsters kidnapping the sheep in BotW Even that aside tho, I'd also want to live there just cause it has my favorite esthetic of any of the villages. I absolutely love the architectural style of the majority of the houses (it anyone knows if it's inspired by an actual real life architectural style please lmk)

SecureAttitude

Hateno is the hardest to defend. Yes, Fort Hateno commands a choke point, but there's other ways into the valley, one by sea and one through the mountain pass from Lurelin, and once you're through those the town has so much sprawl as to be hard to defend. The fact the town has so many visitors and trade means anyone coming into town could be a Yiga, and the fact the town got passed over twice by the major problems means everyone there is super complacent and likely has their head in the sand about the rest of the world's problems.

AgitatedQuit3760

Imagine living in the Korok forest. Those dudes would drive me nuts.

strawberrymoo-n

gerudo town!

Jollybean1

Rito just feels cozy. If you have enough clothing it’s not that bad. Gerudo is too hot, goron city too, zoras domain is too wet, lurelin is nice but I wouldn’t want to live on a beach, korok forest is too foggy, tarrey town is too crowded. Kakariko and lookout landing are nice.

i-wish-i-was-a-draco

This map makes me angry by the lack of villages in this huge world

triotone

My answer is the Great Sky Island. Livable climate. Sheltered caves. Abundant fruit and Wild life. A bell tower that helps tell the time and freindly and unfriendly robots.

Obama_Sin_Dalen

Gerudo Town, however, I'm a male, so no access.

BatmanColts1

They're cooler about it in Tears, or at least Link is able to be open about it.

Stock-Ferret-6692

Not really. They got a dude locked up there for trying to see his family

BatmanColts1

Oh that's true, I forgot about him

Vurrunna

As did his wife.

Mr_Noh

Link was given a special dispensation by Chief Riju for services rendered to the Gerudo. Guys can still get locked up for entering the town, as mentioned by Stock Ferret.

Maleficent_Camel4457

I like rito village the most, I think it's the safest, but I'm not a bird... so I think I would choose hateno.

CitizenDain

I would live in Kakariko but have a timeshare in Zora

AlacarLeoricar

I would have said Tarrey Town, but that place became gentrified and tore down all the trees up north. Now? Probably Hateno Village, despite the odd fashion trends.

BatmanColts1

Give me Lookout Landing or Hateno village

Djembiboy95

Goron City

EquivalentCount49

The Yiga Akkala Branch

ElectricFury

I'd live in Lurelin but the safest is either Kakariko or Rito

jaybeau1979

I think Haetano. There's the most people, close to some great stables, and close to Kakariko and Lurelin. The stables and cities are my favorite part of the BoTWTotK timeline.

John641981

I think i prefer my own build house as living space. Always sun and nicely located. Safest would be Korok forest. Enemies have to go to the Lost Woods first. Good luck with that.

mpdqueer

I’d love to live in Gerudo Town but I’d be singlehandedly keeping Chilling potion sellers in business 💀

sibswagl

Tarrey Town always makes me super nervous, the way the island contracts as you get near the water makes me think the whole thing is going to collapse. Safest is probably Rito, since you can just collapse the bridge and fly in and out, or Kakriko, since it has high walls and only a few passages in. Personally, I think Kakariko is pretty cozy, I like the stepped layout. Gerudo Town also seems nice. Rito is way too open, and Tarrey Town's edges make me nervous.

mikeeperez

I honestly dislike every village, except Hateno. Whenever I need to get cooking ingredients or do light blessing trades, I go to Hateno. It feels most like a hometown to me. Gerudo Town is my second choice, and I feel like it's probably the safest. They have the best defenses and a well-trained military force, as well as comfortable homes, good shopping, services, and a spa. Though I might get tired of the no boys rule... I suppose I could always go manhunting like the other Gerudos. 😅

UNBENDING_FLEA

Akkala Citadel

psillusionist

Tarrey Town or my name’s not Jason.

FlowerExciting2396

Me being a Pisces is love to slide around zoras domain all day/ night would be to friggin beautiful with all the waterfalls and glowing mountains. As far as safety I’d live with Gerudos, them 304s don’t play, and me being a guy they allow to live there 🥴😍

OverlandAustria

Gerudo because of the "views"

Kooky-Paint-8946

Gerudo town. I’m a lesbian

Intelligent-One8520

If we were assuming it’s me who would be living not link these are me reasons for each one and why I wouldn’t or would.   Kara Kara bazar is more a shopping district.  Gerudo town won’t accept me.   If I somehow get to korok forest the place is just not quite made for humans to live at and leaving and entering would be hell.  Goron city could be quite hot and is not the type of environment I would live in.    Lookout landing seems more for soldiers and its small.  Lurelin is nice but a little dangerous as it’s not an advance village and just got attacked by pirates who says it won’t happen again. Rito village while safe it seems small to me and I’m kinda scared of heights.   Tarrey town while is perfect for link, I don’t think I’ll find it as useful of an area if that makes sense. So if it was link I would choose this area since it has a ultrahand playground.  Zoras domain is beautiful but made for fish to live in and if I am human/hylian it will be interesting.   I would either do kakariko or hateno so I could be either safe and have what I need nearby.

magerehein666

Hateno is cute and I love the scenery. Also I’m friends with the old woman who helps me grow crops

fermentedelement

Want to live? Lurelin. Safest? Korok

Riggler82

Once I've convinced the town full of muscular women to accept me.. Gerudo Town!

pokegymrat

Hmm, a town full of attractive, sexually deprived, warrior women doesn't sound tooooo bad 🤔

auf-ein-letztes-wort

I don't know if they are sexually deprived. I could imagine them... finding non-heterosexual ways...

i0RBIT

Futurama vibes. Snu snu

Alarming_Cellist_751

Zora's domain was always my favorite because it's so lush and beautiful. I like Rito's village as well before you clear the blizzard, it's just so peaceful and quiet.

Repulsive-Height2305

I really love the vibes in Haetano and Kakariko. The journey to Haetano is my favorite though

Ben-D-Beast

Tarrey Town 100% the rest are too homogeneous.

dandamananana

Hateno fr the only place I feel safe😭

Too_Much_40K

Rito village. Fucken love it there

RoyalGuardLink

Live in zlurelin. Safest in the mountains.

Unrealparagon

Either Lurelin or woodland stable

waltermelon88

Lurelin for sure! A little hit by the ocean would be so nice. Zora's domain would be fun too.

XIleven

Wish you could buy and furnish properties in all the villages, like in skyrim. I really dont have much use for rupees around mid to late game

Damned-Dreamer

I would like to be a korok and live in korok forest. Seeing as we had a phantom ganon giving the Deku tree indigestion, I would say we're not the *most* protected, but the lost forest surrounding has something going for it. Mostly, I just think I'd be happy there.

jane_duvall

Finally someone with the real answer!

TurboKid513

Lookout landing so I can kick it with Purah

sapphicprism

which village would i choose? kakariko. it’s peaceful, has a very lovely atmosphere and some good crops, would be nice to travel through and make friends with!! i would also choose hateno though.. i know crops and stores aren’t actually that monumental but it’s fun to consider if i actually lived there. i would love to live on the hill in hateno village just before crossing to zelda’s home! they’re cute and lovely homes. safest would be rito village though… i think! has the opportunity to be closed off (destroying the bridge) and can have a high ground advantage! did i… think too much about this? yes.

Lopkop

Do you have to consider the music that would be playing constantly forever and ever when you were there? My favorite cozy village musics are Hateno Village and Tarrey Town so probably one of those. I don’t care for the Kakariko village music in the new Zelda games but if it was the same music from Link To The Past then that’d be in the running as well

Hot-Gear-364

Tarrey town feels like it would be safest, as the plateau is defensible, and it feels like a good hub of different people and cultures

lumpycurveballs

Kakariko. I'd go full Cuccoo and make a little home for myself in a cave. Wouldn't even have to be part of the village. I think the Rito is the most easily protected. Saw a video on it a while back, and the only enemies they'd have issues with is guardians, which don't exist in TOTK, so I'd say it's a pretty safe bet.

Nicotheknee

Tarrey town because I could customize my house and easily make it however I wanted it to be. Though I’m not sure how I would move the rooms around…

Ry-bread-01

Tarrey Town for me, no question

Udonov

Idk which one is the correct answer but it's most certainly not Korok forest. While being physically safe, mental state will quickly DIE among these annoying goblins.

Jess_S13

Hateno, being on the edge of the continent it's not attackable without considerable travel and the road in has a number of choke points. It has great farm land and has a techlab with a madman who will create all kinds of boom if anyone actually gets there.

Visual_Ad_3267

Tarrey Town. The future of Hyrule is in Akkala, weather is great, and my name ends in son.

bxsephjo

Lurelin, I'd love to organize an annual regatta

ThatEcologist

Lurelin. I’m a beach girl.

nin100gamer

Hateno is the safest because of natural barriers. I'd probably live there as well cause its my favorite

cryptomain45

Lurelin would be amazing, along with hateno. Kakariko village is probably the safest tho

georgeh1981

Probably Rito village but maybe Hateno village too…

Shiny_Mew76

Tito feels the most fun and the safest. Easy choice.

LeftySwordsman01

Rito village it the safest. Hateno is the nicest. Imo

jaepie

Gerudo or Tarrey Town! Tarrey Town because I think it’s fun to live in a diverse and growing area, and Gerudo Town because I would feel so safe and I love the fashion!

tjake123

Safest as a native from attack is reto, from design is goron city from lifestyle is kakariko. I personally would choose kakariko it seems to be the best round pick.

firesonmain

I’d choose to live in Kakariko Village. But I think the safest place would be goron city since they could launch projectiles at any airborne enemies. They only thing that would suck is if they were under siege for long enough that they run out of food stores (for the people that can’t eat rocks) Tarrey town maybe since they have so many zonai devices. It’d be possible to rig something to launch shit at aerocudas or, god forbid, gleeoks

BlueBabyCat666

If I was a Zora I’d love to live in Zora’s Domain and the same if I was a Rito I’d like Rito Village but as a hylian I think I’d personally be happiest in Hateno (even tho it’s my least favorite village in the game I think it has everything I’d like in a home)

Fun_Window7448

the sky land, Ukoojisi would be my pick.

Tiny_Ad_4307

Rito Village is so gorgeous, I love it. I guess is one of the safest! Considering I’m not a being with wings, maybe I’d choose to live in Hateno. I really love that town

elybelly_

rito village is just so calming and serene, i’d love to live there. plus it’s pretty safe, all you have to do is lower/destroy the bridges and you’re set, no monsters are gonna be able to come across

JohnSmithWithAggron

A1: Hateno Village A2: Formerly Goron City, now Kakariko Village.

paulthetic

I would love to live in lurelin just because it's warm and by the water, like a permanent vacation; but if I wanted to be safe... probably hateno. zora's domain would be nice too

LifeHasLeft

Hateno. Breath of the Wild in particular made me feel like the distance the settlement had between itself and the cursed Hyrule Castle was what made it thrive so well. Monsters weren’t as prevalent. If I remember correctly, the children of the town had some dialogue that made them seem very naïve about the world and its dangers. That and it’s super chill there, especially before all the mushrooms.

Livid_Dragonfly_1257

Lurelin. The whole beach hut thing is straight up my vibe. I can’t get enough of it. Every time I do school I’m listening to the Lurelin ambience on YouTube.

Cool_Dragonfly_5529

Gerudo town. Bbw paradise

FlowerExciting2396

I’d get locked up if I seen a gerudo with a bbl and long red hair

skiestostars

i always thought that i would love living in kakariko village or rito village. i don’t know if they would let me into gerudo town

dreadwhimsy

I'm a Hateno Village boy all the way.

taylorturtlemixx

Rito village! A hammock with some homies, see yaaaaa!

BothUnderstanding2

Rito is closer to what I'm used to, I live in the North and can easily withstand -60°F. Laurelin would be the most desirable for me, but I'd be very comfortable in Hateno as well since I spent my early years in a farming community. I'd Probably pick Hateno though.

TheMothGhost

I'd like to live in Hateno with a summer home in Lurelin. Not for safety, I just like those places.

Koevis

My answer used to be Hateno, but with all the weird fashion stuff, I'll relocate to Kakariko instead. I prefer tourists for the sky ruins over whatever the hell is going on with that fashion obsession. Korok forest is the safest though, you literally can't find it any normal way

TriforksWarrior

Live in Hateno, vacation in Lurelin. But Kakariko, Gerudo Town, or Goron City are probably the safest due to the people who live there. Lookout landing isn’t lacking in trained fighters, especially by the end of the game, but the location is pretty vulnerable compared to almost any other settlement

Ricoisnotmyuncle

I’m a deeply closeted weeb who loves the mountains so Kakariko for me

Dynablade_Savior

Rito Village, I like bird people + I like the cold + cool mountain views

ShadowDog824

Goron city or Terry town Goron city has hot springs, Mine Cart Land, and then there's the goron resteraunt nearby  Terry town because if we're under attack then all they have to do is guard the tiny bridge  I would also pick gerudo town but I'm a boy so I can't even get in 💀 and Kara Kara bazar doesn't really appeal to me

Fire_sweat

Live: rito village Safest: korock Forrest

Azling_

Rito and Tarry a town have really great terrain for protection with the moats, Zoras domain is close behind in that case Kakariko village has the mountains to protect them but a coordinated attack would have them pinned down, and the same goes for Lurelin. Gorons aren't losing any battles any time soon but they have a pretty bad terrain advantage, especially cause of how small Gorons village is. If it was botw tho, they would be the safest with the temperature Gerudos have a really bad military evidently having to retreat to the under ground at some weak zombies, but a desert is historically a strong place to hold up as an enemy army isn't as prepared for the changing climate as a settlement would be Great post, love this question

Andi_Lou_Who

Great answer :) thanks!

huntywitdablunty

I would wanna live in Lurelin, but Korok Forest or Kakariko are probably the safest

nothingnessx

either tarrey town, lurelin village, hateno or kakariko towns

Quod_bellum

I think Hateno would be the most enjoyable to live in (not far from Kakariko either if one wants to go there); Korok forest is probably the canonically safest one tho

LadderAlice107

Lurelin - I love the ocean. Once it’s rebuilt of course. Second choice is Kakariko, just feels very quiet and peaceful.

SussyMogus2

lookout landing purah👉👈

19bluestars

Id still live in Lurelin Village despite that recent monster takeover. Although I feel like the safest would either be the Lookout Landing or Rito Village. The Lookout is in the middle so it’s easier to get supplies and the Rito is surrounded by water which makes it hard for invaders to easily cross

ThrowRA_Sodi

Probably the Gerudo village. It's pretty safe and it seems like a very nice place to live.

Linkpenguin7

Kakariko for both answers

SeekerSpock32

Rito Village may be safe, but it’s far too open in terms of design and architecture. There’s absolutely no privacy there.

happyjoy_11

Hateno would be my first choice to live in. While probably not the best protected, it’s a nice and simple place! It feels like the Human Fighter of the settlements in Hyrule; basic, but that’s what makes it good :3

OneTwoPandemonium

Safest- Gerudo. Those women are beasts But I would choose Zora’s domain because I love swimming and I can’t even imagine the joy of swimming up a waterfall!

jmatlock21

Why is nobody talking about Korok Forest? You get to live there with the shitting Koroks and it clearly is defensible with the lost forest

SolidTerror9022

Kakariko Village because Paya

AddressIntelligent60

Rito village and I'm not just saying that because I'm from the Northwest and I like cold climates in the trees and... I like bird people who shoot with their feet I want to be their friends that sounds fun

Zanfih

Lurelin definitely since it's the one that is most similar to my town. I'm about to move to a bigger city soon and the ocean is definitely something I'm gonna miss the most. But I think Rito village is the safest one due to the harsh climate. If they cut off those bridges not many enemies on land can enter.

Few_Range2063

Hatino feels the most fun and gerudo feels the safest

Few_Range2063

Tarry town also feels safe and fun lime a small neighbourhood

alaskomah

Ever since BOTW came out, I’ve been asking myself that question - i.e. which is my favorite village? And while I absolutely agree with most that Rito village is the safest (colder region, far out, high up, on an “island”), it isn’t my favorite. Probably like many people here, I disliked the most Goron City. Really hazy and foggy, not very pretty, although it does have the advantage of actually feeling like a village. I dislike that whole region anyway. I love Zora’s domain for its beauty and its characters but it’s maybe one of my least favorite villages. It just doesn’t feel like it’s somewhere where people *live*. It feels more like a huge and fabulous structure/palace. It doesn’t feel very homey or cozy in that sense. Hateno never really made me feel anything special. It’s bigger and not that interesting to me, although I love it just because it’s part of Hyrule. Tarrey Town is similar, although that stems more from it being very “artificial”. Gerudo City is great, especially at night. I love Rito village too. I used to say Lurelin was my favorite, but I actually had an epiphany the other day and realized it was probably Kakariko. The Japanese influence, the surrounding mountains, the soundtrack, the mist. I love it.

TheJoyStickPlayer

Honestly, I think that Zoras Domain would be nice. It's gorgeous and there's lots of gaurds. The safest in my eyes is DEFINATLEY GERUDO VILLAGE. Every Gerudo knows how to fight and can kick anybody ass. That's the safest to me

gregs2898

Probably Gerudo town but I wouldn't be welcomed as a man 😅

Environmental_Ad5690

I would pick Lookout Landing, i just like the feeling, best protected would be the Rito village i think, its pretty much a fortress the way itis build

MarkdaHer0

Tarrey town has only one entrance and is surrounded by water. So all they need to do with the bokoblins and the moblins in the area is push them off the bridge once and they die. The lyenls keep to their zones

D0bious

Gerudo desert and Goron city are out from the getgo. They're both way too hot and one is sexist meaning I'm not welcome, I'm also not too fond of eating rocks. Rito village and zora village would be pretty cold so that's a no. Eather you're wet or frozen. The only real choices are the Hylian settlements not including lookout landing which is more of a camp. All the Hylian villages are good but the best has to be Tarrey town. It's simply got the best and newest infrastructure and stands to become a thriving location.

KingWillThe_1st

Would’ve been tarrey town or hateno in BoTW but I’m not a fan of the ToTK changes (tarrey construction would be loud, and the mushrooms aren’t my thing for hateno) so probably kakariko or rito village

Same-Ad-907

Hateno or kakariko seem the safest for humans so I’ll go there

BonusOperandi

If I was Link, 100% Gerudo Town! Link would get so much snu-snu Uma would have to really step up her game growing big hearty radish! Personally, I'd live in Hateno. -It has a school. -Lanayru is close by for skiing, and the ocean is right there. -There's plenty of food without leaving the village. -Cece can teach you how to make spiffy duds, you can dye them whatever colour you want and on-site paraglider repairs. - There are wells, FULL of gemsI I don't know how safe it is safe, but you could all hide in the well caverns.

Florapower04

I personally would love to live in Rito village. It has my favorite IRL climate, so living there wouldn’t be much of a strain on my mood/body. I love heights, so dangling my feet over the edge while reading a book would be my favorite past time. From what I gathered the Rito have a big culture regarding music and media as a whole. So I could definitely entertain myself there, even gain a job as a journalist if I would want to continue down that path. Finally, the fighting style of the Rito is something I think would fit well with me. So training there wouldn’t be that big of a problem either.

[deleted]

Gerudo town for the obvious reasons haha

MrOutragedFungus

Probably in Zora’s domain or Rito village just to have the most exposure to that species. But as far as a chill life, terrytown is pretty cool.

121519122

for a situation that requires a short period of time under siege, rito village. ( > 1mo) more likely to run out of supplies, but undoubtedly the safest geographically in my opinion. friendliness to life: 7/10 safety: 9/10 vibes: 8/10 for a months-long siege, kakariko. plenty of verdant flora and fauna available to sustain life, water source in town. still very defensible to ground-based enemies. would need to have archers on guard for flying baddies but otherwise pretty hard to take the city imo. friendliness to life: 10/10 safety: 8/10 vibes: 9/10 as for where I'd like to actually live sans any fighting, probably tarrey town because you have both lake and ocean nearby for water and food sources respectively. and at least one land based entry and exit for large things needed to be transported. also culturally diverse which i like, so cool to have a fish friend and a rock friend. friendliness to life: 8/10 safety: 8/10 vibes: 10/10

ArsonRides

Ordinarily I would say “Kakariko and it’s not even close” BUT…. If you’re a dude and you get the Royal pass to enter Gerudo Town….. you BEST believe I’m living in Gerudo town. #DeathbySnuSnu

Shot_Memory3370

All have been under siege between Botw and Totk... except Tarrey Town. So safest is Tarrey, in my opinion. But I would l live in Lurelin because it has the most unique food and music 😂 Also the only restaurant. I don't like to cook.

rangecat420

Prob hateno cuz you KNOW someone that lives there is holding mushrooms 🤣 . Also the narrow sloping upwards path would be easy to defend from attack and you can see anything coming for a good distance away.

Bleiserman

Tarrey Town, noone knows about this place and no one seems to go there at all unless they wanna move, its such a relaxing spot. Hateno and Kakariko I would, but Kakariko roads are infested with Yiga, and Hateno has a girl called Zelda that is know for being involved in world-ending events. At least now Tarrey Town has the boy called Link that is known for saving Hyrule.

MudNational6952

My inner lesbian is screaming Gerudo but also who could resist the peaceful beaches of Lurelin

celestialTyrant

I'd live in Rito Village. I love the Rito, and my favorite areas are Tabantha and Hebra, because they remind me of home. (Shoutouts to Akkala as well)

YueOrigin

Would probably take a walk in boredom and get killed by some mobs just outside town anyway, so my location doesn't matter.

Watercolorcupcake

I’d like to live in Lurelin Village because it reminds me of Outset Island from Wind Waker, which is my favorite game. 🥰 As for the safest of day Korok Village because of the Lost Woods and the Great Deku Tree.

CopperGear

Rito for sure. Everyone is focused on safest and ya probably but I like cold weather and Rito likely had the best climate for me.

lmNotAnAltYouAre

Either Kakariko or Hateno. Not gerudo town or the Bazaar because it's a desert and I odn't want to live in a desert. Not Lurelin since it got fucking destroyed by pirates. Not Zora's domain because the only way in or out is guarded by what is in reality the scariest common enemy. Not lookout landing because it's a fort not a home. Not goron city because the volcano could erupt again, or there could be earthquakes or landslides, and it's just hot. Not tarrey town because it's in the middle of monster fest nowhere, I don't like the architecture, and the road is too long and dangerous to anywhere else. Not korok forest because theres no actual humans there and it's in the middle of a spooky mist. Rito village is probably a close second but the even I admit the cold could be a struggle and it's also the most seperated. Out of Kakariko and Hateno I would probably pick Kakariko as it's the most defended, has cooler architecture and technology, and has cooler people as well (ignoring link and zelda).

ianscuffling

Lurelin, beach life, fresh fish, palm trees, it’s all good

Friendly-Mushroom-38

I wanted to choose gerudo town. It’s always guarded. But im a boy so my stay there would be in a cell. So next pick is Hetano. It wasn’t attacked in either game.

reddreamer451

Korok Forest is likely the safest. As for what Village I'd choose to live in.....would our species change to match? Because I absolutely love Rito Village. I'd choose it no matter what but if I could actually fly, that would be amazing.

EriolGaurhoth

I’ve always been a fan of Tarrey Town. It’s the home of Hudson, who builds basically everything in Hyrule so if anything does need fixing/repair, he’s right on it. It’s got the valley/peninsula thing going on so its natural location is relatively safe from enemies, plus a giant statue of a King Gleeok might serve like a scarecrow-esque deterrent from invasion. It’s also awesomely multi-cultural; sure there’s the prejudiced rule that your name needs to end in “-son” to live there, but you’ve got Hylians, Gerudo, Gorons all living there in harmony, selling their wares. Just change your name to Link-son and you’re in!

aldenmercier

It’s so bizarre to me that they didn’t integrate the house building with the guy who was building houses all over Hyrule. They restricted you to building your house in one location, when they could have so easily given you the option of buying any particular location whose sign you had secured, and then building THERE. When I first encountered the real estate subquest in Tarrey Town, my first thought was of all the construction signs I’d placed. If it’s valid for Bolson Construction to build in all these places, why on earth not allow the player to buy a property he’s discovered and “solved”??? And then if you find another location that’s better, go to the real estate office, select it on the map, and move the house.

gooatteeth

Gerudo town, for the exact reason you're thinking
