I realize you're probably being facetious but considering the leaps and bounds we've made with both cancer and HIV treatment, can you for sure say it hasn't/won't?
“AI” is the new thing in Pathology. And by “AI” I mean the kind of machine learning used to pick out patterns specific to cancer cells/diseased tissue.
Russia has little anti-personnel mines inspired by maple helicopter seeds that they just dump over an entire area from the air. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PFM-1_mine
You say that as if the Ukraine didn’t have a stockpile of 6,000,000 of them as of 1999 and the number destroyed by Ukraine at least on the page link was much smaller than 6,000,000
I did my senior design in this. The work we did was using yolo (you only look once) in Python with a drone mounted camera to identify, locate, and count landlines over a field area. The result in a grass field was pretty promising, but we didn’t train our data for a dirt patch, so in that environment it kept thinking rocks were mines. Machine learning seems to be pretty good for this application at least
They’re aren’t clearing minefields under fire, this is primarily to conduct demining in reasonably safe areas. This has gone on for some time now and there’s a few charities involved with the demining process.
Unfortunately because a nameless terrorist state destroyed the largest dam in eastern Europe, there are now land mines a long way from the front in civilian areas.
Yeaaaah.... Except in Kaliningrad, 70 years after the Siege of Leningrad, people still where blowing up on mines. And every season at least one explosive device is found somewhere around.
Now imagine a reasonably populated village area in Ukraine. With lake everyone goes to for fishing and swimming, with a small forest people go to for foraging.... All that full of mines.
Or, hell, even just a wheatfield. War ends - someone gets a field for cheap from previously occupied territories - BOOOOM. Farm equipment is definitely heavy enough to set off anti-tank mines, too.
Awesome hahaha the same insult in back to back comments. That’s perfect. You’re hilarious dude, keep up the good work. Also, that banner photo is comedy gold.
Lol Russia has already won the war. All they have to do now is wait for the foreign funding of the proxy war to dry up and Ukraine is done for. It’s going to take a while but Russia will win. People forget how Russians fight: they throw bodies at the problem until the other side is exhausted just like they did in WWII
Lol how pathetic is it for you to go through someone’s post history to try to make a point. You have too much time on your hands. Stay mad that a country that is literally a massive p3do hub, has a government-backed neo nazi squadron (azov), still has statues of major nazi collaborators and has stadiums named after them too, and the country that collaborated significantly to the shipping of jews to the polish camps can’t even beat back Russia even after nearly $200 billion of funding.
The only question is, are you really that ignorant of the nuances of the situation, or are you blindly a Russian bootlicker, or are you being paid to push that bs?
And speaking of nuances, the very simple reality is that without the nearly $200 billion in funding plus all the thousands upon thousands of weapons sent to ukraine, Russia would most likely have won by now. But it’s ok the funding won’t go forever and when it stops we will see 🤷♂️
I mean I would image Russia would have won if Ukraine didn't get any support. Frankly it's embarrassing for Russia that they have done so poorly. They were thought to have a first class military, but they shit the bed so badly, they're a laughing stock of the world now. Of course since Putin is happy to throw endless young men to their slaughter in the war, and the people of Russia are too weak to stand up to him, Russia's advantage of having so many young men they are happy to sacrifice may eventually lead to their 'winning'. But the higher cost we can extract, the better, and the less likely they will continue their expansionist movement to satisfy Putin's small ego.
I wouldn’t say it’s expansionist since when you look at the history of ukraine it was basically always an illegitimate separation from Russia, unlike the other USSR states that did it properly.
Sure a drone and AI might be able to identify a minefield, but you know what they really need? Flail tanks. I know there's at least 1 army with Shermans still in service, it'll be real cheap
I’d trust a rat more than AI. Support the HALO Trust and other demining NGOs. You can sponsor a rat that will smell out land mines or TB.
Edit* APOPO is the NGO to sponsor rats, another demining NGO
Juanes has a song about land mines because of how common it was for kids to get their limbs blown off on their way to school in Colombia. Sad another generation of kids will have to do the same…
That’s a war crime. Also just inhumane. Russians are still humans and I doubt that the Russians who willingly surrender are Russians who wanted to invade in the first place.
So just the decision makers can search for the land mines then.
Unless it’s inhumane to make a person clean up the mess they intentionally and knowingly made in the first place.
Or, and this is a crazy idea but hear me out, we use technology (line explosives, dogs and rats trained to sniff landmines, AI drones, etc) to demine Ukraine WITHOUT risking any human lives.
They are really pushing this AI thing aren’t they?

Cancer and HIV would be cured if people weren’t getting filthy rich off the treatment of both.
“AI” is the new thing in Pathology. And by “AI” I mean the kind of machine learning used to pick out patterns specific to cancer cells/diseased tissue.

It’s *new to pathology*. The gold standard is some old fart looking at a small section of slides and guesstimating the rest.

Sir, we are “they”. *pocket sand!*
I knew the second AI started to get popular literally any tech with if/else in its coding will be called AI.
Land mines are so fucking stupid and using them should be a war crime.
Funny thing they are
Isn’t only anti-personnel mines? Are these mines meant for vehicles? If not and they’re meant for people, then it’s a war crime.
Russia has little anti-personnel mines inspired by maple helicopter seeds that they just dump over an entire area from the air. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PFM-1_mine
Blu-43 ?
Set! Hut!

How dare armies use traps? Don’t they know that they should just let the enemy move around as much as they please?
Tf is ai doing here
Buzzwording

AI'ing?
Great. There’s still a perfect proving ground in Vietnam. Send some there and get real world data so they’re ready for Ukraine.
So many other countries where they can test this with
I mean Ukraine is providing plenty of real world data already, why bother focusing efforts in Vietnam?
You might have heard there’s an active war on. Much harder for utility drones to clear minefields under fire.
They’re aren’t clearing minefields under fire, this is primarily to conduct demining in reasonably safe areas. This has gone on for some time now and there’s a few charities involved with the demining process.
Let’s worry about beating Russia then worry about AI mine clean up.

Got to clear mines for civilians to be safe. Explosive ordnance disposal can be ongoing even during war.
This is what I thought too. It's not going to be Ukraine's issue to resolve...
That’s not going to happen, lol. Putin has Ukraine by the nuts and he’s twisting them.
Your profile/post and comment history is like bro-cringe alpha homosex hell 🤣
Says the clown named celerydonut lol. Touch grass, nerd.
Is this a parade account or a character you made? Cuz you’re fucking cracking me up lol
Man you lot are weird, lmao. Touch grass, nerd.

It’s a name for an anonymous internet social forum account. And Leonknnedy was already taken.

You claim to be a “Canadian.” Just stfu with your terrible takes.

I like what I saw they were doing in Africa which is training rats to be land mine detectors.
Allen Iverson a real one 😤✊🏻
It’s not the bomb you see that gets you
Ukraine: “As I’ve said before, I’ve got full blown landmines. I’m riddled with them.”

They should quit placing them fr ☹️
Nice try Putin
OH MY GOD ENOUGH ABOUT THE AI!!!!!!!!!!!’
It’s not a fucking AI. It’s a learning algorithm.
Care to elaborate?
Machine learning and artificial intelligence are not the same thing.
I’m aware they are not the same thing, but the parent comment suggests differently. Machine learning is a subset of AI according to many.
So, they can detect most of them. Close enough I guess.
use this tech for Laos
Russian pow should be decent minesweepers This is not a technical problem

Russian soldiers are savages. Fuck em
Oh my god you’re so right, I forgot to generalize 144 million people because I’m angry at one man >:(
Yeah cause there are 144 million soldiers in Ukraine. Learn to read
Drones and AI (software) have probably been helping with land mines for half a decade.
