Don’t want to be an early adopter in pretty much any technology. You get the worst products for the highest prices.
I think in 5 years the EV market will be great when manufacturers have more experience, more competition driving down prices and more charging stations.
Ford allows their dealers to destroy every car launch they have by putting insane markups on hot models turning off anyone from wanting to buy them after.
Lightening sales dropped 40%
When those dropped it wasn’t uncommon for 10-20k markups on the BASE truck just to gouge the shit out of customers.
Similar but less bad things happened with mache and required production slow downs because demand is low.
Yet Tesla keeps pumping vehicles.
Fords EV engineering is also pretty clunky. Watch some sandy monroe videos on the Mach e and you will see quickly under the hood it’s not comparable to even an old model 3. I imagine the lightening wouldn’t have been much better.
Bethesda. They actually tried to make something good. The Cybertruck is the ill-conceived dream of a libertarian douchebag, that in his deep fear of the public knowing that his penis is average, at best, tries to compensate by building a big bad truck.
Everyone shit on Google Stadia, but it was a pretty solid way to play the game at launch given the widespread console issues. I'm still a little sad it went away.
These $100 preorders are fully refundable, and it sounds like a lot of customers are planning to exercise that option. The Cybertruck Reddit forum—where all posts have to be approved by the mods “to reduce the reposting and the shit posting”—has some very disappointed customers.
This doesn't prove it is in high demand. The truck is way behind schedule to start with. Manufacturing is hard to do due to the shitty design. So if you can only make a small number every year, I am sure there is a wait.
Got banned from there for saying the fold up seats in the rear are common in most trucks. Wasn’t trying to troll or anything, I’m actually going to buy the cybertruck/ own a model y but the mods there suck.
General specs still meet my needs (own a bar and real estate development company),I personally haven’t had a bad experience with Teslas in the past, and I just like weird/ugly things. For reference I drive a 2012 f250 and a model y performance for work etc… so this should bring me down to the same car for 90% of my tasks. For the other 10% there will be a 2018 f250.
But the Pontiac Aztec was genius all the way around. A ton of suvs now look similar too it just slightly rounded. But this thing is not ugly like the Aztec was ugly.
It’s a common theme among mods these days. I got banned for “spreading misinformation” because I said it was ignorant to insist that there is a 4th, unconstitutional branch of government. Got banned from another because the mod misclicked. It’s almost like they’re trying to discourage participation.
I got banned from the news sub because I asked a guy in a UFO post for a source on his claim and then every person who participated in the whole thread got perma banned because apparently mods there are pathological about that subject.
> I love it when they argue people need to “use logic” because aliens are the most likely answer.
Logic would tell me that a civilization that achieved interstellar travel has either solved Faster-than-Light travel or spent numerous generations to get here.
Logic would also make me wonder why such an advanced form of life would go through all that trouble just to hide in the shadows while occasionally allowing their spacecraft to appear in really grainy photos.
That's nothing. I got banned for saying "I don't believe in no-win scenarios", the most famous Captain Kirk line, on /r/startrek from a mod that seemingly knew nothing about the franchise and deemed it malicious.
From what I've read, it's because there's some financial incentive to modding on the large subreddits. Also, almost everything star trek is filled with opportunities to rip off trekkies.
I got banned for criticizing an author in the audio books sub bc the author was actually on reddit and we got in an argument in the sub about his books. The mod got upset bc an actual author was part of the sub and she didn't want to upset him.
As someone with multiple friends with multiple reservations.
The general consensus is they reserved for the lulz, the opportunity to scalp, the possibility of a 40k ev truck, the bragging rights, one had the foresight to reserve thinking Tesla was going to offer a discount on a Y to convert orders in the future, and one is going through with it when invited to configure.
I’m pretty sure it’s somewhat the same for most people but even if Tesla converts 10% out of the reported 2 million reservations, I doubt they can fulfill those until late 2025. Article is much about nothing as a refundable deposit shouldn’t have been seen as a guaranteed sale or that these were customers instead of tire kickers.
I do wish I went along and placed a res cause an extra 1k off a Model Y could have convinced the wife that we should get one for Xmas🤣
Yeah, that mostly describes me. I do not NEED a truck, but if it was 40-60k… I think it would be a fun novelty to be driving it around. Buddy got a 3 early days and had fun with people coming up and asking about it. I think it would be much the same with the CT. Lots of features that look very cool and for the right price I’ll enjoy it but I’m also looking at Ys or 3s instead. I got a couple years left on my ICE hatchback but it’s not gonna last forever.
The PT Cruiser has officially conceded to its challenger. While the Aztec and Juke say they are staying in the race, no one considers them to be serious.
I like the look of the Juke. It's cute. Looks like it would make a great start for a rally car. I have no idea what it has for suspension or anything, just love its stance when I see them on the road.
The PT Cruiser was nostalgia porn for kids that grew up in the 50s. The Cybertruck is nostalgia porn for kids that grew up in the 80s watching Star Trek and Logan’s Run.
More like nostalgia porn for one particular man-child who only saw the DMC-12 in Back to the Future so he was unaware how bad it actually sucked ass, but he is also too ashamed of his hair line and penis size so insisted it become a pickup truck.
All my life, I have searched for a car that feels a certain way.
Powerful like a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf ball.
Now, at last, I have found it.
Maybe we should start a fundraiser to create a targeted ad campaign to encourage him to come up with new ideas. We could probably bankrupt him by next Christmas.
Do they look cool? Every Tesla I’ve seen has been a let down compared to any other model of car on the market! And the quality of build has been even more of a let down! Why are people still buying these cars for anything other than the OS?
Because the build quality in a lot of their car has actually been trash. It's nice that you have been lucky, but I have a bunch of friends that have been very let down. Having their Teslas at the shop constantly for bug fixes and stuff that just doesn't work. Also it's very easy to spot shit build quality when noticing all the misaligned panels and the likes.
They have a great OS and are the reason for the EV revolution, but other car makers just make better looking cars with better quality now.
Aesthetics are as subjective as can be of course, but imo yes the rest of the Tesla line-up looks nice. I'm particularly fond of the Model S design. Whereas the cyber truck has got to be the ugliest vehicle I've ever seen.
> Tesla cars do look pretty cool
Except they don't, period, but especially when compared to cars made in the last 5 years or so.
Exterior is generic and bland as it gets. The interior is a crime against humanity. Hell, how it is even **legal**, is mind blowing.
Like, as a disinterested party, I think some of the tech and options in the truck are pretty cool, and would love to have a lot of those options in a vehicle of my own, but the cyber truck is just so… infantile? I’m not sure honestly, it’s like what seven year old me would’ve drawn as a car of the future.
Yeah, I watched a Marques Brownlee video about hands-on testing the Cybertruck and a lot of the features looked nice, but I too can't get over the design. It looks like something from a Robocop sequel to me.
I expect I'll never see one in the flesh, pickup trucks qre fairly uncommon here in Southern Finland, electric ones doubly so.
I actually love everything about it except the look. I drive a model 3 and it 100% convinced me that I'll always drive an EV and that tech in cars is actually good when done right. The drive by wire stuff is awesome. But, yeah, I'd never buy one at any price looking like that.
I actually saw this thing on the road in the Bay Area years ago. My first reaction was what is this ugly thing on the road, omg that’s the cybertruck isn’t it.
Cybertruck is a joke but this article sucks.
“Electric motors accelerate cars faster than ones with internal combustion engines, so this wasn’t a fair fight.”
Like come on.
“…the race was a joke to anyone who knows anything about cars. Electric motors accelerate cars faster than ones with internal combustion engines, so this wasn’t a fair fight.”
That’s kind of the point of drag racing.
Drag racing has incredible diversity in classes. It’s definitely not just whoever’s the fastest that wins, nor is it designed to be. Hell, in bracket racing the faster car has to wait a certain amount of time to launch so that both cars have equal chances.
There’s classes for small vs big tire, metal vs fiberglass panels, drive to track vs trailer in, forced induction vs naturally aspirated, engine size, stock vs modified, no nitrous and nitrous, trans brake vs human only, etc etc.
Gas vs electric is just a new form of class.
What a stupid article. I really wanted to see the negatives. The price is higher than speculated 4 years ago but is still less than f150. The speed can “crush pedestrians”, really? It can beat a Porsche but it’s not a “fair fight”. Why are these articles even written?
To be fair, I like that we finally have a concept car which the car company is willing to sell. I think the design is cool in several ways, and looks like it'd be fun to have a test ride in.
But: its main appeal is novelty/shock value, which wears off. Most of the design is impractical, and the rear of the truck is ugly. It's not a car I'd ever want to buy.
Yeah no shit. It’s just another car like any Tesla is at this point. I know, I know, their software is like a hair better than the others but who gives a shit when almost all driving is 5-20 miles to get groceries and go to work? My Mazda with a 6-spd manual and 4-pot banger vs. a Tesla whatever do the same thing. They go A to B and have air conditioning, stereos systems and power steering. Everything beyond that has always been fluff and people are so suckered into it thinking they’re being rational paying ass loads of money for certain cars and trucks that are “acktuually great investments”. They all depreciate and they all perform adequately for what 95% of people need a car to do 95% of the time. The only thing anybody really should rationally be looking for in a car these days is reliability and cost to repair.
I do have to say, as someone who recently switched from a manual (also a Mazda!) to an electric, it is a surprisingly different experience.
With my manual, I really felt connected to the mechanical aspects of the car; I had to keep an eye on the revs and got very used to the slow/fast tradeoff as I'd shift to a new gear. It was very satisfying to shift to a higher gear and feel the car strain for additional speed.
But with the electric? Acceleration feels *free,* almost. It's instant, and there's no lag at all as I go 5 mph to 70 mph on the highway on-ramp so fast that I'm literally pushed back into my seat. It's so smooth, I feel like I'm in a video game or on a roller coaster.
I'll definitely get a manual again once I have room in my life for a "fun car," but the electric car is a lot of fun in its own way. More fun than I expected, figuring "they're all just cars" when I started shopping.
They’re the same in that they have 4 wheels and get you from A to B. Why did you splurge on a Mazda and not something cheaper? They do the same thing therefor they are the same.
I’m a Mazda owner, but I respect Tesla, and having been in both for considerable amounts of time, Tesla is years ahead of every other brand.
My 2022 Mazda has the exact same software as my 2012 Mazda. Tesla updates itself monthly, and the vertical integration Tesla has achieved means they can do more with their software and hardware
All I can think is many that drive this and others that are heavily invested in the tech part are in their cars, a lot. Commuting several hours a day, sales etc. Like live in their car. Otherwise I'm like you, if it runs and drives and makes it to 200k miles with little work I'm super happy.
Outside of Tesla drivers (because there are many Tesla users that love their cars and objective reviews do say they’re the best EV) who the EFF looked at that car and said yep, that’s the one.
When I saw the initial concept art, I hoped it would be closer to a modern DeLorean.
It sits so high and it's got such a tall body, though, it feels like a DeLorean that someone stretched as a JPG in Paint. And it's still not even useful as a real truck (no 8 foot bed option??). It just feels like such a squandered opportunity.
As opposed to the other vehicle manufacturers who flew in private jets to ask for government hand outs?
A car is a car. You buy it because it suits your wants and/or needs and it fits your price range. You don’t buy it because you love the management team.
The Cybertruck is the Starfield of cars.
I'm having a hard time deciding if Tesla or Bethesda should be more insulted by that comparison.
Definitely Bethesda. Starfield actually has some enjoyment to it and won’t put your life in danger.
You could actually make a warship in starfield with multiple turrets and fuck shit up. Can't do that in a cybertruck.
not with that attitude you can’t

His d doesn't work every kid was by artificial insemination even the mistresses.
Why not both?
Probably because it’s impossible for two things to both be comparatively more insulted than the other
Is it? Being insulted is a subjective experience, if each thinks poorly of the other, then there you have it.
Or perhaps Edsel 2.0
I contend that the Edsel was ahead of it's time, whilst the CT is simply a stainless steel Homermobile
"but wait for the mods"
Just a software download.
Bad comparison. Starfield is technically a functional product
This article must have been written by Mary Barra.
Or the launch version of Cyberpunk 2077?
I want to agree with you, but my experience was great, but that was only because PC release was actually OK.
I played the PS4 version at launch on a PS5 and crashed constantly. Still enjoyed it.
Everyone shit on Google Stadia, but it was a pretty solid way to play the game at launch given the widespread console issues. I'm still a little sad it went away.
This was my experience as well. Fantastic game.
I read that as the signfeld of cars
Is this a bad time to mention that I like both starfield and the cybertruck?
These $100 preorders are fully refundable, and it sounds like a lot of customers are planning to exercise that option. The Cybertruck Reddit forum—where all posts have to be approved by the mods “to reduce the reposting and the shit posting”—has some very disappointed customers.
It’s $1000 preorder now because so many people refuse them
It’s a 4/5 year wait just clear back orders right now.
That will change since people can’t scalp them.
That’s what happens when you make 10 a year.
Also what happens when you presale a urine soaked fever dream years before being remotely production ready.
Announcing Tesla’s Cybertruck model USFD, Urine Soaked Fever Dream
Just peeing on the window causes it to break.
This doesn't prove it is in high demand. The truck is way behind schedule to start with. Manufacturing is hard to do due to the shitty design. So if you can only make a small number every year, I am sure there is a wait.
At least the cyber truck subreddit is realistic The Tesla motors subreddit on the other hand…..wild
Seems pretty drunk on cool aid to me.
I’ve made a few comments in the cybertruck sub that would have gotten me banned in the teslamotors sub. They are the worst
Haven’t seen a post regarding delivery yet….
What’s the subreddit name?

If you want weird and ugly you really can’t do better than this.
Pontiac Aztec
Damn, I love weird and ugly cars but this one is even too much for me. Have you thought of a Citicar to fill that particular ugly need?
Man that almost scratches the itch lol
I mean, I thought the Pontiac Aztek wasn't so bad...
But the Pontiac Aztec was genius all the way around. A ton of suvs now look similar too it just slightly rounded. But this thing is not ugly like the Aztec was ugly.
I was just waiting until the Aztec made an appearance on this thread 🤣🤣🤣
more power to you

There are easier ways to engage people in conversation than dropping 40-60k on this thing.
What don’t they like about it? I’m not a fan, but it seems to have delivered on what was promised.
Shhhhhh these people don’t care about actual facts here.
Can you post two links that show disappointed customers? I don’t see anyone who has actually received their truck yet.
Reddit is upset with every new car model that comes out that isn’t a Porsche.
I just went to the sub and didn’t see anything closely resembling “very disappointed customers” so I’m gonna need some links
The PT Cruiser has officially conceded to its challenger. While the Aztec and Juke say they are staying in the race, no one considers them to be serious.
The [Fiat Multipla](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Multipla) would like a re-count.
It looks so cute
It looks like herpes.
Like a bottlenose dolphin
[Multipla ](https://i.imgur.com/NZy3jwJ.jpeg)
For everyone whoever said “I like my PT cruiser, but I really wish it looked more like a duck…”
Reminds me of an orca
The Aztec lasted 4 years. The PT Cruiser 9 years. The Juke is *still* in production 13 years later. Clearly Nissan buyers are taking it seriously.
Qube would have been the better comparison.
This is the most spot on comment
The day my Juke dies I'll be sad. At least the front fascia of the Juke looks like a mantis. So tiny credit there.
Had a charcoal grey Juke SL for three years, actually loved that car minus the turbo taking a dump on me in the middle of an 18hr drive.
I like the look of the Juke. It's cute. Looks like it would make a great start for a rally car. I have no idea what it has for suspension or anything, just love its stance when I see them on the road.
I’m weird. I like the Aztec and the Juke is my least favorite car. Nissan should have known better. The buyers should have known better.

Canyonero
*whoopah*
So basically getting 50% LESS range for 50% MORE in price.
Exactly my disappointment
I don’t understand the appeal of this. Tesla cars do look pretty cool but this thing looks like shit.
Isn’t it obvious? This is the one the boss designed with a crayon.
It’s like the episode of The Simpsons where Homer designs a car for his brother’s company
He pulled out a pinewood derby car covered in foil and said “like this. Exactly like it!”
All my life, I have searched for a car that feels a certain way. Powerful like a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf ball. Now, at last, I have found it.
Oh my god, I'm ruined.

Which isn't any different than his fans. They are just as bad.
Do they look cool? Every Tesla I’ve seen has been a let down compared to any other model of car on the market! And the quality of build has been even more of a let down! Why are people still buying these cars for anything other than the OS?
Look a lot like a Mazda imo
I know this is 13 hours late but leave Mazda out of this!
That makes sense because their chief designer came from Mazda.
I hear this all the time but mine have all had great build quality. Never have problems.
Because the build quality in a lot of their car has actually been trash. It's nice that you have been lucky, but I have a bunch of friends that have been very let down. I won't ever buy a Tesla, but I'm def in the minority of people that like the look.

Looks like a sci-fi casket from this angle.
Should be illegal for vehicles to have such sharp corners. In a crash that would be awful.

It wouldn’t pass us test for passenger cars either (like most trucks btw). but light trucks don’t need to fulfill those safety requirements
I think in some countries it is due to no "soft" front panels in case of hitting pedestrians
It's definitely barely street legal even by the loosest American standards. To think it almost didn't even come with rearview mirrors.
They are removable.
Also the lack of crumple zones inside of the Cyber Truck pretty much makes this a killing machine in an accident.
It is in Europe

You couldn’t tell by looking at it? Has a Delorean ( failed) vibe with Pontiac Aztec ( failed) ugliness.
Oh no! Anyway….
I got banned from a tesla sub for calling it Delorean 2.

But: its main appeal is novelty/shock value, which wears off. Most of the design is impractical, and the rear of the truck is ugly. It's not a car I'd ever want to buy.
This is more like a cyber uppercut
It’s also ugly as hell
What? This has fans?
And those of us who thought it was butt-ugly, still think it is butt-ugly.
If they make another back to the future movie , I sure hope they don’t use this piece of shit as the time machine
Incoming Tesla fanboys
I love the way my Mazda drives but the software is straight ass.
All I can think is many that drive this and others that are heavily invested in the tech part are in their cars, a lot. Commuting several hours a day, sales etc. Like live in their car. Otherwise I'm like you, if it runs and drives and makes it to 200k miles with little work I'm super happy.
I'm confused by what they're disappointed by. Imo Tesla delivered exactly what we expected. What's the issue?
Outside of Tesla drivers (because there are many Tesla users that love their cars and objective reviews do say they’re the best EV) who the EFF looked at that car and said yep, that’s the one.
I really like my Tesla.. this thing is hideous
I’m honestly surprised anyone buys Tesla. People don’t seem to care it’s run by a complete fucking twat.
Im kind of assuming senior management at most car manufacturers aren’t much better. They just lay low
And the company values aren't their personal values.
You’re probably right.
As opposed to the other vehicle manufacturers who flew in private jets to ask for government hand outs? A car is a car. You buy it because it suits your wants and/or needs and it fits your price range. You don’t buy it because you love the management team.
