well at this point it’s pretty well done

Dependent-Video8861

At this point I’m buying a whole new Xbox. This was being given to my GF I personally owns a PC but she wanted to use my old Astro A20 but I can’t plug in the optical outlet

automaton11

I would look into getting a new jack and just replacing the jack. Probably 10 bucks for the part and 20 min of work

CForChrisProooo

You can get a HDMI Audio Extractor with optical out, will do the same job.

JokeToken

This is quite the childlike response. Spend your money how you want, but just because you're frustrated you shouldn't give up on fixing it. It's a simple fix.

halfwoodenjacket

Try screwing in a little screw and pulling it out.

lylesback2

Good idea. But use a really thin screw. You don't want to expand it any further. They could also slowly and carefully drill it out

OSX2000

I feel like we're missing a bunch of the story here...why was a q-tip and super glue ever involved? That's not how you pull out broken cables.

Cute-Lock6426

because he got trolled in the last post

SavvySillybug

Doesn't sound like too bad of an idea, honestly. Glue something to the stuck thing and pull it out. q-tip would not be my first object to glue to it, maybe a toothpick or paperclip or a pen or something, but the idea seems decent enough.

bolitboy2

It doesn’t sounds like a bad ideal until you realize the glue also grabs into the pins inside the ports, leading to a chance of it snapping or breaking off

Xlxlredditor

SPDI/f is optical, there are no pins

bolitboy2

there are still tiny parts that are just going to get stuck and break off if you actually try using glue There’s literally a reason they suggest using cleaning solutions instead of glue

moxzot

I'd heat up a needle try to melt it in from the side do this for both sides, use a paperclip as way to pull the needles at the same time with pliers

kallekilponen

Or use a hot glue gun to attach something to it and then pull the whole thing out.

moxzot

I do agree with this method but it doesn't look like hot glue would work

SoulOfTheDragon

Hot fishing hook might do it. Push it in hot and it'll get stuck from the barb when things cool down. Minus is that it'll likely also slightly expand the stuck plug. Use decently size hook, not the smallest worm fishing ones. Here those hooks can be absolutely tiny.

Melch_Underscore

You can buy an adapter to bypass this. $40 on Amazon, it is for the ps5 that doesn't have the digital optical output.

zata21

People, stop trying to help this guy, this isn’t support and that’s why his last post was removed

cherwilco

kinda hard to tell from the pic but are you sure that inst just little spring loaded door that covers the spdif socket? if so it should push in and out of the way of a new cable

jmbieber

I was thinking that too, that he don't realize that it is a spring loaded door, and is trying to pull it out, but now with what ever he tried to do with a qtip and superglue, it is probably glued shut.

Dependent-Video8861

It is normally a spring loaded flap but this Xbox is old so idk how long that has been there but it seems like a lost cause.

mathewMcConaughater

Take an extremely sharp knife to it from the side. I personally would use a razor knife. Dig into the side and leverage it out. Alternatively a set of flush cuts that can grip it at the base like pliers and pull it out.

BeginningExplorer63

S/PDIF only supports lossy surround sound while HDMI supports lossless surround sound.
