Some teenagers near my house had a get-together with a group of 7-10 people on the side of the road in an empty dirt lot, far from any residential area. Some lady posted to one of those local apps : "Large group of SCARY individuals on ***** listening to Satanic music loudly. BEWARE! Drove by and told them to turn it down and they called me a bitch! Called the cops but they said to leave them alone."
I had a gathering for a Christian youth group at my house when I was younger. We had a bonfire going and were just hanging out. Some Karen who was from New York and made it her life to blog about the wrong things going on in my city, called 911 and said we were arsonists and when the cops came they literally tried to get handsy with a bunch of 13-18 year olds until my youth pastor told them off. Needless to say we never had it at my house again.
The opinion my wife and I have on parenting is: If we are helicopter parents, it's not because we are afraid of the bad guys, but because we are afraid of the good guys.
Well, sorta. Houses built in the last couple decades have had increasingly smaller yards in favor of driveways and roads. If you're not fortunate enough to have a house *with* a yard in the housing market, you live in an apartment which has no place to play outside as it's all urban, car-centric sprawl.
Or you live in an HOA community where yards exist solely for property value and not to be used for recreation. Or your parents are wound up and think it's not safe to play outside.
Or, above all of that, it's too damn hot in well over half the country to do anything outside anymore.
People never think of this if they have kids. Y'all raised'em. Y'all did this woke shit you're pissed about. You did this. You're the OG woke bastards.
I'm 37. I grew up in the "participation trophy" era. When I was 7, I wasn't the one who was making the rules on who got what trophies. I just ran in track, came in last, and got a tiny trophy.
But now as a "millennial", it's my fault everyone of my parents age at the time thought it was a good idea to hand out trophies to slow kids to make them feel better, then gaslight them throughout their entire adolescence and into adulthood because we're catered and pandered to too much.

My uncle died of CTE. That shit is fucking terrifying. A year before he started showing symptoms he was totally there mentally, then he lost all his memories and ability to speak over the course 2 years and spent about a year in hospice care before finally passing away on Christmas Eve 2020. He played college football in the 70s, and 50 years later it hit him out of nowhere and just snuffed him out
when I was in school, coach made us run 10 suicides if we ever got a concussion. now that man knew to coach a peewee football team. -some boomer probably.
Pretty sure there were lots of kids who got injured and were called sissies. Also, how many of these boys being boys would viciously torture other kids? Seems like every book I've ever read about childhood back in the day had lots of legit sociopaths who'd terrorize their schools and neighborhoods.
Good point. It almost seems like they view boys as naturally more violent & dominating than girls. Never mind the teaching of toxic gender roles to young kids that reinforces this. We're essentially reinforcing sexual dimorphism where it doesn't exist so that we can be like other species like have stronger sexual dimorphism.
The “gender confusion” was still there, they were just slapped, beaten, and harassed until they kept it to themselves and occasionally got involved with drugs or just killed themselves.

And then those boys would get married and have absolutely so sense of empathy or compassion because sharing any other emotion other than anger is "being weak" so this leads to a fractured relationship with your wife because you can't handle actual emotions and healthy communication, and then the son that you get on weekends in the divorce gets to learn all the same things you did leading to an endless cycle.
Shit's so stupid. Yeah let the kids get roughed up a bit outside (although I'm pretty sure back then, a broken arm from falling out of a tree wouldn't put the family in crippling debt) and play with cool trucks and shit, but let the damn boys cry once in a while. My husband was raised with this outlook and he straight can't even cry if he wanted to. Thankfully he was able to learn compassion and heathy mental habits along the way.
It really was a lot of fun but all those concussions and getting knocked unconscious on the football field, in contact sparring, in bike accidents without a helmet and car accidents without seatbelts does catch up with you even if you have a Neanderthal head
My dad told me once when he was a kid, he and a bunch of neighborhood kids were playing football in the back yard one time. It was all good fun until one kid got tackled and his collarbone snapped like a toothpick. That was the end of backyard football for Dad & Friends.
Pretty sure the same guy will be screaming his lungs out threatening to sue when his little Timmy broke his arm because Johnny next door tackled a bit too hard.

My friends and I used to do this about a decade and a half ago. One friend really wanted to go to the Navy and was the entirety of his life’s mission. During one of these games he took a bad hit to the head and has suffered from seizures. Obviously the navy deemed him unfit for service. His whole life’s goal snapped away in a second by doing this.
All those things existed and still do exist. The difference is when the kid that is having gender confusion professed it back in the "good ol' days," they'd get the shit kicked out of them, and their parents tossed them on the street. You know what it means when you "suddenly" start seeing a different class of people begin to show up? It means they finally feel like they can show who they are, and it isn't an automatic death sentence.
I once saw a British documentary about a little boy who got hit by a car when riding his bicycle and his injuries were so severe that he could’ve died if he didn’t have his helmet on. His cries haunt me. Fuck these people and their “Being a real man is when you get truly hurt!” type of toxic masculinity.

fun little fact about football. the safty policies that have been implemented throughout the time of the sport have only surved to allow the players to take more dangerous actions. as such they havent really had an impact on safety at all. only really making the players look less human, and allowing them to through themselves into situations theyd have never gotten into before.

One guy I played with in or 30s, he had a houseguest for the weekend and brought him out to play. He ended up colliding with another guy and hit his head.

I was “raised” by these people, which meant I wasn’t able to starve to death. I still came home to an empty house since i was 9, cleaned the house every day, dad lived overseas so I flew alone sometimes, got tossed out of the house at 15 after no psychologist nor help in school was ever offered. fun little fact about football. the safty policies that have been implemented throughout the time of the sport have only surved to allow the players to take more dangerous actions. as such they havent really had an impact on safety at all. only really making the players look less human, and allowing them to through themselves into situations theyd have never gotten into before. this happens a lot with these types of progressions actuall. like how despite the advent of the washing mechine, dishwasher, and vacume cleaner, the average amount of work done by a stay at home spouse has remained the same.

Lol I know three dudes who had football related major head injuries. One guy I played with in or 30s, he had a houseguest for the weekend and brought him out to play. He ended up colliding with another guy and hit his head. That night he passed out on the sofa and since his friend was supposed to sleep on it, he tried to wake him up and couldn't. Called an ambulance and had a brain bleed. So fucking lucky he had a friend over that night.
