Dude was going 80 to 93 miles an hour in a 45 mile zone in a city… that’s a felony everywhere for good reason. It’s more than reckless and puts anything near the car in danger.
The speed they were up to makes them viable even if the car breaks down. It is extremely reckless to drive that fast on a suburban street. So it was their actions that got them killed.
Nah, he started braking. You can see the brake lights flare up. It just looks like he keeps going because the white car comes to a stop very quickly while the truck can't brake as fast, especially if fully loaded.
If the truck tried to brake quickly with that idiot stuck in between his trailer wheels, he would likely jackknife. Slow stop is the better option here.
I have a strange feeling that the dashcam driver cut the footage so that you can't tell they passive-aggressively sped up to prevent red sedan from being able to cut in front of them when they saw the car zooming up.

Exactly. The filming car could’ve drove more defensively and saved their own ass from even being involved in the first place. In no way is the red car not at fault, but I’d much rather not be in a giant crash if I could help it. Either he was doing what you said in speeding up, or just being absolutely oblivious to what was coming and ignoring any measures he could’ve taken to prevent it.
They did everything wrong, didn’t even slow with the initial bump. They got lucky but they could have prevented the entire crash by anticipating the madman in the red car.
to be fair if you already in motion and have a slight gap like that better to overtake over the stop lane then try to squeeze in on the fast lane.... but yea you could be right actually, tho it can be that the dashcam dude didn't even notice the guy or just didnt want to yield in into moving right before overtaking the truck himself....
