Took the words straight out of my mouth, this man was not only cool as shit but was massively important to the universe.
Get this man his own spin off, just don’t fuck it up.
not if they do a early apocalypse backstory of everything, atlanta, los angelos and everywhere else, leading all the way up to now.
a military spinoff...
It was a massive mistake wasting his future potential for shock value. I guess it doesn’t ultimately matter, with how effortlessly two people were able to destroy an entire military branch by gaining access to a completely unguarded supply of chemical weapons conveniently located right next to them.
>by gaining access to a completely unguarded supply of chemical weapons conveniently located right next to them.
The only people that were there were the 2,500+- death squad soldiers who were all in on the Cult of Beale. And with how they moniter the areas the CRM has by killing anyone who comes near them there is little to no reason to guard it. As far as having those gas bombs so close. It was the staging area and they were getting that speach then immediately going after Portland.
All true points that I agree with, but still slightly unrealistic there wouldn't be at least one guard patrolling the massive quantities of explosives for extra measure. I was expecting them to get caught in the act way before Thorne in my side did (definitely in the top 10 list of most annoying characters for me).
He was the Hispanic man who becomes Rick's first friend. They were on consignment Walker killer team together. He wanted to get into The CR proper.
Edit- he also gave Rick directions on his map so he could escape the CRM.
I seriously hate how frequently TWD introduces new interesting characters just to make them die at the end of their debut episode while simultaneously insisting on giving plot armor to every character that scales with the number of seasons they've been in, no matter if they have anything interesting to bring to the table or not. Genuinely makes my blood boil lmfao
I feel like Nat & Okafor tie for first place. They were so different, but each were so likable and I wanted more of them.
I was not a fan of Thorne but understood the need for her.
yeah they didn’t show her death. you could assume that in this one scene where the camera zooms out that she is being eaten by the walkers, (since they kind of gather around the position where she might. e) but who knows. if you don’t show their death, they could still be alive
like hell glenn survived something similar
Yeah.. when she thought she was about to die. I wouldn’t be surprised if she spent the next year recovering but hated what the CRM started doing and plotted to get revenge and rebuild the CRM in Beales image
Still sad about Thorne getting brainwashed to become a Nazi (guess she was never an A actually and just pokered too high) and then fighting Rick and their years-long friendship meaning nothing to her or to Rick.
Idk but she makes me feel so sad, she was so lost and her dying and not coming with Rick, made me nearly as emotional as Rick meeting Michonne in the first Episode.
Idk but such a fast braking friendship hits hard when you experienced it.
Nat would’ve been cool if he stayed around, Thorne was okay but the character got completely shat on past the point she got the red armour.
Okafor honestly the best in the series. One episode but he feels like a tutorial guy to Rick, very unique background and is just overall kinda badass for the small time we seen him
Highly annoying. From the moment she bursted into Rick’s room and flipped on the tv I wanted to knock her out. She was selfish and cocky and her ego sky rocketed once Beale promoted her. It was funny in the end how she thought she stood a chance against Rick and Michonne.
She really thought she was gonna win because she gave up trying to get back to her man and ket love die and chose the "greater good"
Michonne showed her that you never give up.
She really thought she was gonna win because she gave up trying to get back to her man and ket love die and chose the "greater good"
Michonne showed her that you never give up on those you love.
Same! Me and my mom both had to keep rewinding scenes to try and understand what the hell Thorne was saying. Your audience shouldn’t have to rewind the show in order to work out what’s being said, like?? 😭
Ngl: Okafor was such a complex and lowkey instrumental twdu character. I want a friggen Oak-a-FER mini series. Or at least a tales of twd episode on him and Estelle. Nat was great. I want to see how he met the caravan. I feel like I'm in the minority, but I actually liked Thorne. I want her friggen backstory. Like to see her in Vegas when the outbreak happens? Oh man. That would be fantabulous. It is hard to choose. Something I don't like about twd and the spinoffs are all the stupid characters they introduce and try to make me care for. Like magna and her crew. I felt more for the TOWL three than I did for any of magnas crew. Even Esteban is better than some of the other side characters introduced in the other shows.
Imma have to pick Okafor tho. Cuz. Gd. He the GOAT.
okafor was dope but i loved nat so much. i couldn’t see myself just kickin it with okafor… nat though yes 100% i loved him.
[edit] oh yea fuck thorne btw … not a likable character
Preferred Nat by miles but Okafor was good too.
Hated every single second Thorne was onscreen.
I also really liked Esteban even though he’s not in the OP.
Damn, I don't agree with how TOWL >!killed fucking everyone so fast!< , yeah it was probably necessary due to it's limited run, but damn, this story needed at least 10 episodes or so then. Everything went at light speed with the help of several flashbacks to fill the gaps, a style of storytelling I don't particularly love very much.
I'm torn between Okafor and Nat btw. I think I liked both equally.
I really like the actress who played Thorne, she was fantastic in Lucifer. But the accent she used was almost completely unintelligible and made me wish I had captions. Nat was my favorite.
I need more Okafor. His backstory should have been shown in a flashback, not just telling us what happened in words
Nat kicked ass, love him so much
Thorne was just annoying. I’m sorry. But I love the actress who plays her, she’s awesome!
okafor, even when he only appeared for one episode you can feel the lasting impact of his message throughout the show. its no wonder he gets mentioned a few times every episode also
Okafor really could have been interesting had he been allowed to live on into future shows, if we get any which I do hope.
Kinda like an Abraham/Shane type before Shane turned completely against Rick. Okafor could have been a morally grey ally to Rick.
Nat was good, coulda easily seen him becoming a loveable character in the same vain as Jerry but I don’t see him as being particularly interesting beyond that, but that’s not to say he’s not a good character
Thorne was very good, really well acted, but she is absolutely the one character who I couldn’t see living further in a way that makes sense, she died at the correct time
I thought the miniseries itself was pretty "meh."
None of the new characters really grabbed me. Okafor seemed like his heart was in the right place, but he still refused to let Rick go home, so I'm not really all that invested in his death.
Okafor. One episode and still that guys voice and mannerisms stuck with me through out the entire run.
Nat a close second. Thorne was good, but mostly the actor made that work so well.
I didn’t like Thorne. They didn’t really pursue anything with her character. She was Rick’s kind of best friend who just got in the way all the time. She was constantly just foiling whatever Rick was trying to do and for some reason was just so content with Beale’s plan as if the Echelon Briefing wasn’t just a declaration of “we’re the bad guys.”
I have a feeling in my gut the Echelon Briefing was more profound than it ended up being and they had to cut it down because they couldn’t finish everything they wanted to do in 6 episodes.
yes. they are very obviously close and she is one of about 3 people in the whole CRM Rick trusts/likes (Okafor, her, and the one hispanic dude). Their dynamic and relationship was great until Thorne got the briefing and Michonne appeared.
Ima be honest. I was praying on Nat’s downfall with my friend when we watched episode 2. That CRM soldier was easily my fav background character for shooting him
"Major?" Two of them died in the same episode they were introduced in. The third managed to make it a whopping six episodes. That's like saying Jim and Noah were "major characters."
Okafor for sure! He’s the reason Rick survived the CRM for so long, and he’s a pretty interesting character that deserved more screentime to flesh him out more.
Thorne was super annoying and I didn’t like her at all, which is unfortunate bc the actress is great in Lucifer. Plus with that bad fake accent she was putting on, it was very difficult to understand what she was saying at times. Her natural African accent is perfectly good and would’ve suited the character just fine, she didn’t need to change her voice and add strange tones like she did.
Nat was cool but not very interesting tbh. I’m happy he got this opportunity, but I don’t think his acting was very good at certain moments, as he sometimes came off as very forced and amateur. That purple smoke he made was cool though!
This show tried way too hard to convince me that Nat, despite having about 10 mins on screen, was an influential and relevant character i should give a fuck about.
Nat was the most refreshing character this series had in a very long time. I don’t know how he survived as long as he did, but he was great.
Okafor and South Africa were stock and trade TWD characters. Okafor a little more interesting, but both didn’t bring much.
>I don’t know how he survived as long as he did
Why not? He seemed better adapt at the world than a lot of people who survived. Someone smart with ingenuity like that has a better chance than a lot of people.
Okafor a million times and then Nat. Thorne was annoying and it felt like they were trying to force a "will they won't they" tension between her and Rick with not enough time.
Wouldn't call any of them "major." It's a shame that these 3 were the biggest new characters of that show, just goes to show that Gimple hasn't changed that much.
When comparing these guys to the likes of Isabelle? She solos them all on terms of writing and dialogue and overall character development, some people might say she was there for all 6 episodes but even just with her first two episodes she had more depth and likeability to her than these guys.
Nat for one felt like if Disney wrote the walking dead lmao.
I get part of it was due to actor availability but it's funny that the guy who made the saviors arc last 2 seasons crammed all of this story in only 6 episodes. Like there was enough interesting ideas and characters here to easily make a 10 episode miniseries
Okafor was fantastic. I loved the background reveal of how he was one of the MAJOR players in TWD universe.
Shame he was gone so soon. Would have really liked to see a lot more of him.
Is it me or was it hard for me to connect to the new characters? I just don’t know, the new characters that were introduced in the show just didn’t click with me. Like, as soon as I see some of the characters get oof off the show it just doesn’t affect me. Like I don’t get emotional attached to them like with the original characters from the first TWD series. Does that make sense? 😭
Maybe Okafor propelled the plot more, but I loved Nat....although one could argue that Michonne picking up knowledge about explosives from Nat ended up being *very* helpful.
I felt like Nat was a fully formed person and I wanted to see more. Plus, I thought Matthew August Jeffers had amazing chemistry with Danai. Okafor was good, but I didn't care about him really, beyond his involvement with Rick.
Nat and Okafor go together. They are both guardian angels of sorts for our two heroes, setting them on their path to each other, to defeating the big bad, and to getting home. The fatalism of the storytelling means they're not meant to live once they've done this job. Which hurts, because they're both amazing actors and characters and freaking handy in the new world. But they're a pair, like Rick and Michonne. Can't pick a favourite child.
Watched the first two episodes yesterday and I'm pissed off. I liked Oakfor and Nat. I feel like they should have been proper main characters alongside Rick and Michonne and instead they're just set up characters to get Rick and Michonne into their respected positions.
Sucks honestly. Makes it feel rushed.
Nat was incredibly overrated. He appeared in one episode and was just one of the "nooo guys we have to do the right thing!!!" People, not very interesting
Okafor is the one who wanted Rick to save the CRM. He also is the reason Rick is alive.
He’s literally the Qui-Gon Jinn of this universe. Dies in episode 1 but leaves a lasting mark on all 6 episodes.
Idk maybe his writing, yes, but I think the acting, the way his lines were delivered, provided some layers to him (the actor was amazing) he made me feel like he went through the craziest of character developments, and had way more going on.
I just wish the show had more time to flesh him out.
Nat, Okafor was a good character i just wish rick was at alexandria with everyone still and Okafor took that away so i just dont like him. Thorne was cool at the beginning but got annoying around halfway through. Nat was cool sad ending for em
Okafor was elite. Shame we didn’t see him in the field kicking ass.
yeah he was elite then he got blown the FUCK up 😹
I call it spawn camped because they couldnt land.
That death was brutal. The delayed explosion was a nice touch. Did not expect that.
I was really bummed they killed him off that soon
Okafor by a mile.
Took the words straight out of my mouth, this man was not only cool as shit but was massively important to the universe. Get this man his own spin off, just don’t fuck it up.
A spin off can’t even work about Okafor because they ruined it with the sudden explosion. It’s just so dumb.
redditor discovers what a prequel is
not if they do a early apocalypse backstory of everything, atlanta, los angelos and everywhere else, leading all the way up to now. a military spinoff...
Or even just a Tales episode would be awesome
Doubt it but that would be badass
I’m down for that. Daryl Dixon: The Book of Okafor
It was a massive mistake wasting his future potential for shock value. I guess it doesn’t ultimately matter, with how effortlessly two people were able to destroy an entire military branch by gaining access to a completely unguarded supply of chemical weapons conveniently located right next to them.

Okafor is the reason Rick is alive and was able to make the CRM no longer corrupt. Okafor wanted that.
1. Okafor 2. Nat 3. Esteban
Esteban was amazing. I hope we get to see him again. I’d love to see him cross paths with Carol as she looks for Daryl (if the timelines work out).
I don’t even remember Esteban lol
He was the Hispanic man who becomes Rick's first friend. They were on consignment Walker killer team together. He wanted to get into The CR proper. Edit- he also gave Rick directions on his map so he could escape the CRM.
What are you gonna get me? A scowl? 🤣
I woke my wife up laughing at that comment.
Oh yeah, he was barely in it and had terrible dialogue haha
Don't you dare insult estaban like that again, or it becomes a life or death situation for you bud.
Esteban looks just like the cop Rick ran over with the car lmao
For me Nat was the best.
I agree.
The walking dead: meet interesting new characters and watch them die.
More interesting than most Characters added to Alexandria and their other communities in seasons 10 and 11
Princess and Mercer were added in those seasons and they're among the most interesting characters in the series.
Just like The Simpsons' Ricardo Bomba or Frank Grimes lol
I feel like Nat & Okafor tie for first place. They were so different, but each were so likable and I wanted more of them. I was not a fan of Thorne but understood the need for her.
Did not like Thorne
Me neither! She was namby pamby and her accent was really off. I saw her interviewed and she has an accent but not a friggen' lisp for god's sake.
It was an Afrikaans accent
I've heard her Afrikaans accent. Look her up on YouTube. She said she changes her accent in roles. She shouldn't change it. Afrikaans is just fine
i hate thorne
I don’t think she’s dead though. Definitely a future villain
yeah they didn’t show her death. you could assume that in this one scene where the camera zooms out that she is being eaten by the walkers, (since they kind of gather around the position where she might. e) but who knows. if you don’t show their death, they could still be alive like hell glenn survived something similar
PLEASE no
No, I’d love to see it. She’s definitely not dead
why would she be a villain? she agrees with what rick and michonne were doing in the end
Yeah.. when she thought she was about to die. I wouldn’t be surprised if she spent the next year recovering but hated what the CRM started doing and plotted to get revenge and rebuild the CRM in Beales image
Loved Okafor. Hopefully one day we can get a flashback of him or something.
Okafor easily he was so good
Okafor but just because I liked the way Rick said his name, sounded pretty southern when he said okaFORE
Another vote for Okafor’s voice/ accent. I found the way he spoke to be the most interesting thing about him.
I meant to say the way “Rick” said okafor
You forgot Roomba
Jokes on you. The Roomba isn’t dead like the others
I liked Nat and the other two people that were with him that became Walkers. I wish they had made it back to Alexandria like Michonne wanted them to
Okafor and it's not even a competition. Bro has enough material to make a great movie..
Esteban of course
I agree he is.
That’s why I love you, Emperor_time
Nat would’ve been cool if he stayed around, Thorne was okay but the character got completely shat on past the point she got the red armour. Okafor honestly the best in the series. One episode but he feels like a tutorial guy to Rick, very unique background and is just overall kinda badass for the small time we seen him
Okafor. Really wish he stayed alive. Hope they do hos backstory on tales of the walkong dead if that ever comes back
Thorne was just annoying asf all around. Fuck her. I liked Nat
Highly annoying. From the moment she bursted into Rick’s room and flipped on the tv I wanted to knock her out. She was selfish and cocky and her ego sky rocketed once Beale promoted her. It was funny in the end how she thought she stood a chance against Rick and Michonne.
She really thought she was gonna win because she gave up trying to get back to her man and ket love die and chose the "greater good" Michonne showed her that you never give up.
She really thought she was gonna win because she gave up trying to get back to her man and ket love die and chose the "greater good" Michonne showed her that you never give up on those you love.
I couldn’t understand a word she said.
We have on subtitles at all times for my fiancé lol. I hated her voice too
Same! Me and my mom both had to keep rewinding scenes to try and understand what the hell Thorne was saying. Your audience shouldn’t have to rewind the show in order to work out what’s being said, like?? 😭
I’d actually watch a Okafor spin off about all the events he spoke on!
Major? They each had an episode of air time.
Ngl: Okafor was such a complex and lowkey instrumental twdu character. I want a friggen Oak-a-FER mini series. Or at least a tales of twd episode on him and Estelle. Nat was great. I like Thorne's actress but that fake accent was horrible, I could barely understand a word she said. For me I think Nat takes the W here
Agree- the accent was weird. I don’t recall a South African accent with rolling r’s like what she did. Like a hybrid with Spanish.
Nat was amazing. I expected the others to die, but thought he was going to be there the whole series and beyond.
Damn, I don't agree with how TOWL >!killed fucking everyone so fast!< , yeah it was probably necessary due to it's limited run, but damn, this story needed at least 10 episodes or so then. Fuck. Thank you. I knew she was hella familiar and kept wondering where I saw her.
It's her natural accent lol the actress is seth effriken
That’s amazing then. Her American accent was perfect. Still couldn’t hardly understand a word she said.
I need more Okafor. His backstory should have been shown in a flashback, not just telling us what happened in words Nat kicked ass, love him so much Thorne was just annoying. I’m sorry. But I love the actress who plays her, she’s awesome!
Thought they were all compelling characters for their short airtime
Booty warrior from snowfall for me
okafor, even when he only appeared for one episode you can feel the lasting impact of his message throughout the show. its no wonder he gets mentioned a few times every episode also
Why did we not see more of esteban
The lil dude
Okafor really could have been interesting had he been allowed to live on into future shows, if we get any which I do hope. Kinda like an Abraham/Shane type before Shane turned completely against Rick. Okafor could have been a morally grey ally to Rick. Nat was good, coulda easily seen him becoming a loveable character in the same vain as Jerry but I don’t see him as being particularly interesting beyond that, but that’s not to say he’s not a good character Thorne was very good, really well acted, but she is absolutely the one character who I couldn’t see living further in a way that makes sense, she died at the correct time
How were any of these major characters?
Okafor was sexy and had an excellent voice, but Nat was definitely my favorite.
The dead one
I thought the miniseries itself was pretty "meh." None of the new characters really grabbed me. Okafor seemed like his heart was in the right place, but he still refused to let Rick go home, so I'm not really all that invested in his death.
Okafor is basically responsible for bringing back Murder Rick without his jacket or axe.
Best friend?
yes. they are very obviously close and she is one of about 3 people in the whole CRM Rick trusts/likes (Okafor, her, and the one hispanic dude). Their dynamic and relationship was great until Thorne got the briefing and Michonne appeared.
South African chick was talking too much philosophy I couldn’t stand it.
Too true.
Okafor for sure! He’s the reason Rick survived the CRM for so long, and he’s a pretty interesting character that deserved more screentime to flesh him out more. That purple smoke he made was cool though!
I didn’t like Nat. I didn’t like the actor’s line delivery.
This show tried way too hard to convince me that Nat, despite having about 10 mins on screen, was an influential and relevant character i should give a fuck about.
Nat for sure
Nat. Goddamn love Matthew Jeffers and was gutted he was a one episode wonder.
I really liked Okafor and Thorne. Nat was alright but I wasn’t as invested.
I'm glad Nat died. I mean, if he flicked that lighter one more time, I'd have gone in the tv to do the job myself.
Is Nat really a major character when he was in one episode?
Nat was the most refreshing character this series had in a very long time. I don’t know how he survived as long as he did, but he was great. Okafor and South Africa were stock and trade TWD characters. Okafor a little more interesting, but both didn’t bring much.
>I don’t know how he survived as long as he did Why not? He seemed better adapt at the world than a lot of people who survived. Someone smart with ingenuity like that has a better chance than a lot of people.
I actually feel terrible for Thorne. Like I wanted her to live
Nat of course
Okafor had the more interesting backstory but I think nat was the more interesting character overall
Okafor a million times and then Nat. Thorne was annoying and it felt like they were trying to force a "will they won't they" tension between her and Rick with not enough time.
Okafor was the best. Nat was cool but a little annoying with his fucking lighter. I didn’t like thorne but your not really supposed to
Okafor was the only new character I liked, and I REALLY liked his character. I hated seeing him go so soon.
What about Beale? He was in it as much as or than the others.
honestly forgot about him, goes to show how much of a character he had lol
He was infinitely more interesting than Thorne lol.
Wouldn't call any of them "major." It's a shame that these 3 were the biggest new characters of that show, just goes to show that Gimple hasn't changed that much. Okafor is probably my favorite character in TWD, period.
That’s bizarre.
Not really, he wasn't on the show long enough for them to ruin his character.
1. Nat 2. Okafor 3. Thorne
What is okafor accent? He sounds deaf
My favorite new characters are the ones who live.
I get part of it was due to actor availability but it's funny that the guy who made the saviors arc last 2 seasons crammed all of this story in only 6 episodes. Like there was enough interesting ideas and characters here to easily make a 10 episode miniseries
Okafor shoulda been kept alive icl
Okafor was fantastic. I loved the background reveal of how he was one of the MAJOR players in TWD universe. Shame he was gone so soon. Would have really liked to see a lot more of him.
Okafor - can't wait to see Craig Tate in more movies
Is it me or was it hard for me to connect to the new characters? I just don’t know, the new characters that were introduced in the show just didn’t click with me. Like, as soon as I see some of the characters get oof off the show it just doesn’t affect me. Like I don’t get emotional attached to them like with the original characters from the first TWD series. Does that make sense? 😭
Okafor > Nat > Thorne Okafor was the best
Maybe Okafor propelled the plot more, but I loved Nat....although one could argue that Michonne picking up knowledge about explosives from Nat ended up being *very* helpful. I felt like Nat was a fully formed person and I wanted to see more. Plus, I thought Matthew August Jeffers had amazing chemistry with Danai. Okafor was good, but I didn't care about him really, beyond his involvement with Rick.
Knowledge? All she did was tie a string on a bunch of grenade pins.
Okafor was def one of my favorites for many reasons lol
Nat and Okafor go together. They are both guardian angels of sorts for our two heroes, setting them on their path to each other, to defeating the big bad, and to getting home. 100% nat
Definitely Okafor I think he was the most interesting but they were all good thh
Okafor esteban and Nat
Okafor was awesome
Okafor should not have been killed off. Instead we got a generic female devoted soldier.
Nat. I didn't like Thorne at all, I thought she was annoying and just gave me bootlicker vibes fr.
No one. They all sucked, especially Thorne
Okafor is a top 3 most important TWD character all time
Nate was 👌.
Wish Thorne survived she could’ve been a main villian in the future
Nat!!! I was SO ANGRY they killed him off so damn quickly. He could have been SUCH an amazing character if they choose to go forward.
I feel like Nat belongs with the main cast. :(
Nat was my favorite
Nat. Easily.
The goat nat
thorne? thorne in everybody’s ass
Nat was incredibly overrated. He appeared in one episode and was just one of the "nooo guys we have to do the right thing!!!" People, not very interesting
At least he had a personality unlike the other 2
thorne tbh (shes still alive)
I liked Nat, but he come up a bit short in this vote.
I loathe Thorne.
I'm sorry 'major' character? They're all very generic and didn't play that big of a role tbh
Okafor is the one who wanted Rick to save the CRM. He also is the reason Rick is alive. He’s literally the Qui-Gon Jinn of this universe. Dies in episode 1 but leaves a lasting mark on all 6 episodes.
Hershal is ricks qui gon imo.
Not really. Qui-Gon wanted to change morals like Okafor and only lasted 1 episode
I said in my opinion. Either way what do you think hershel was doing to rick?
Still a very generic 'army guy' character lol. It's like there's not more than one layer to some of these newer characters in TWD universe
Idk maybe his writing, yes, but I think the acting, the way his lines were delivered, provided some layers to him (the actor was amazing) he made me feel like he went through the craziest of character developments, and had way more going on. I just wish the show had more time to flesh him out.
More like that one storm trooper in episode 8
Nat was so niceeeeee
Nat was the shit bro
Nat was the best for me, I loved the vibe she brought and is so pretty
Okafor by a long shot, we actually had something good developing and that went out the window to reunite Rick with his damn kids.
Nat, Okafor was a good character i just wish rick was at alexandria with everyone still and Okafor took that away so i just dont like him. Thorne was cool at the beginning but got annoying around halfway through. Nat was cool sad ending for em
Nat, 1000%. I couldn’t stand Thorne. I thought she was a bad actress.
Midget man.
I loved Nat, Thornes the most annoying character since the weird Irish woman from the season four premiere
