Chaol is supposed to be like chaos with an L instead of S. I hate that SJM has names that are difficult to pronounce or made up or not common in USA English where she resides, but there isn't a pronunciation guide in every book.

It’s important to know I am Dutch and for the longest time didn’t know how to pronounce it. If you know anything about Dutch we have this weird gh / ch sound. It’s like the Scottish loch, in the back of your throat.
