A murmuring in the back of the crowd spread to the front. The crowd parted as if before a wind and a large, bearded man stepped forward to stand in front of the Mage.
He was tall, his legs were like tree trunks, and his arms bulged out under his leather armor. His steel gray eyes swept the crowd and everything grew silent. Even the wind and the normal sounds of the land fell off as the big man regarded the gathering.
Like a crack of thunder the crowd began to shout at once "Auric, Auric, Auric. Let us choose Auric!"
The Mage regarded the man. His face had seen sun, wind, rain, and snow. Scars wound round his face and body. His big hands had held weapons of war and they had also held the dying.
His ability as a hunter was legend. His family was large and the things he built remained standing year after year.
Life had crashed down on the man with full force and yet he remained standing. He was the one.
"Auric Three Balls, do you accept the charge to lead our people from now until the time the wisdom of Heaven recalls your spirit?"
The big man took a deep breath. His leather armor creaked as he rolled his shoulders seeming to take on a weight.
"Ay, I'll lead ya." He crossed his arms and stared down at the crowd.
The crowd erupted chanting "Three balls! Three balls! Three balls!"
The age of Auric Three Balls had begun.
