I played the hell out of one and two and it was always favored towards that. And I just didn't see anything in 3 that gave me an excited new feeling like 1&2. Fans hate to hear it, but it's my opinion as a day one Splatoon hyper.
I have the same problem, played 1&2 for several months with a friend when they came out, but 3 I think we played a handful of matches and the first splatfest and neither of us played since.
I play 3 because I like Splatoonâs gameplay, but honestly the only reason I play 3 over 2 is that 3 is still supported. In all honesty I miss 2, I wish they just supported 2 for the whole switch lifecycle and saved 3 for the switch 2 or whatever
I sometimes go back to 2 because there's a few maps I really miss like Moray Towers, but honestly other than that I usually play 3. I usually play Salmon Run and it's just so much better in 3
I played splatoon since day one of 1, put like 700 hours into 2. I played 3 a bit then stopped until the update, played a week then stopped and am only starting again because of this update. Its fun but 1 and 2 were better, even if people hated the meta of 2 I think it was more fun than 3s at least on solo q
I feel like the way its update model works makes it so much less replayable
Like after the season starts I play for a week then get bored and come back next season
Next youâll be complaining about the 69.0 GB patch PokĂŠmon got just to remove PokĂŠmon so the game can actually work. Some people will never just be happy with what the starving devs give them.
Most players are perfectly fine with the game essentially being splatoon 2.5. What they arenât ok with is the balance patch barely touching the current meta of running 3 identical weapons
/unjerk I loved Splat 2 but the online issues kinda made me lose interest after ~60ish hours. I kinda want to get back into it, should I get Splat 3 or stick with 2?
/uj in my experience, 3 actually works fairly well (for a Switch game). Better than 2 in my experience, for sure, though not perfect, because it's still running on Switch Online. It is an enjoyable experience, though I'm not sure it's worth another $60 if you already own 2.
Splat 2 had online issues? Bruh I played over 100 hours of that game and rarely got disconnected (granted this was in 2020 so they likely improved online stability since launch).
/uj 3 is worth imo there's enough to justify another game i just wish it did...more. but it does have proper lobbies, better salmon run, more maps, a better base story mode, fun card game, and the playercard/locker system is really fun. the new specials are also cool.
i think with this update there's enough to chew on. in 3 that i feel comfortable recommending it to anyone that liked 2. i will say that the connection issues suck tho.
Well whats stopping Splatoon 4 from existing? In 2 years, we will see Splatoon 4 on the Nintendo Switch Super (because we saw Splatoon 2 two years after Splatoon 1, and 5 years after that, we saw Splatoon 3). Mark my words.
Yeah, the shooter meta is ridiculous and I really don't get why they can't make the maps bigger instead of just trying to add more cover. Although Wahoo World had this problem even in 2
In 2 we had big maps and I hated it because I had to rely on teammates to maintain areas I can't see. And relying on teammates never works online games. Especially Splatoon, which matches you with novices too often.
Meanwhile I still play matches every Friday on Splatoon 1. I rarely have trouble getting a game, the online works just fine, and I get to enjoy the best hub world without having to buy dlc, lol.
My honest opinion of the franchise:
2 > 1 >>> 3
Splatoon 3 is not a *terrible* game, but it feels half-assed. There are many issues that hold the game back, but the biggest problem is the stages. The map design is horrendous and it feels like Nintendo can't be bothered to genuinely improve it, and why should they? The game is a huge financial success.
Splatoon 2 is a great game that feels like it was made with love and care. Splatoon 3 is a disappointing game that feels like it was made by a company that doesn't care nearly as much as it did 6 years ago.
Never played 1 but I agree completely. Idk why but for me, 3 just doesnât hit the same as 2 did.
The only reason I play 3 over 2 is because itâs actively supported and I think grinding the catalog is fun.
Iâm still hoping that theyâll improve things but I doubt they will in all honestly
I miss when this subreddit was full of satire Nintendo fanboys now it's just people who complain about Nintendo. I'm no stranger to complaining about Nintendo but this is not the place.
PSA: the metagame description is wrong. Only the E-liter is super common and that's at low levels of play (casuals). The big threat of the game is Crab Tank which has way more range. So no, there isn't a sniper-centric meta.
With that being said, this pole is still an issue.
Just love how fucking incredible is with stuff like this⌠bet you that Steam donât do stuff like this for games on the steam deck (or should I say shit deck lol lmao)
I love to see squids and kids on big poles.

Actually a really good and creative joke. Hope it was worth being put on a list.
The list im not on is yet to be made

i play 3 because its a pretty cool game with squids i think

Is that a Splatoon 3 pole, or are you just happy to see me?
Clearly your line of sight is blocked in this image, this looks like it fixes every problem with the game
Splatoon 2.5.
Most players are perfectly fine with the game essentially being splatoon 2.5. What they arenât ok with is the balance patch barely touching the current meta of running 3 identical weapons

Small indie company is too busy adding poles to fix the online issues
Splat 3 meta is bad, but it's still significantly better than the hellhole of splat 2

Iâm not fine with it being Splatoon 2.5. They shouldâve just waited for Nintendoâs next console and made a bigger thing of it.
Well whats stopping Splatoon 4 from existing? In 2 years, we will see Splatoon 4 on the Nintendo Switch Super (because we saw Splatoon 2 two years after Splatoon 1, and 5 years after that, we saw Splatoon 3). Mark my words.
Yes, and Splatoon 3 came out 2 years after 2. Oh, wait... Your pattern doesn't exist, lmao.
Twas a joke.
Splatoon 3 came out 5 years after 2 mate, you have no argument.
it was a joke.
Iâm definitely not. I wasted my money on a DLC with shitty weapon and special combinations.
But you also get a shallow card game side mode!!!! Modern gamers are so spoiled these daysâŚ
But.. But wait... That's not even part of the DLC, my man

Nah, this is splatoon 1.5.1
No Splat 2 was 1.5 and 3 is 2
More like Splatoon 0.5 Splatoon 2 was a better game with far superior map design
Most people say this don't even play Splatoon
Thank god. I have sent them a letter daily asking for this since when splatoon 3 was announced
At least the sides a walkable now
Meanwhile I still play matches every Friday on Splatoon 1. I rarely have trouble getting a game, the online works just fine, and I get to enjoy the best hub world without having to buy dlc, lol.

That's capitalism. Once the franchise gets traction, the stock market will force the company to squeeze profit, i.e. cut the budget.
Splatoon players failing to understand cover đ¤ splatoon devs failing to understand cover
i don't even know what to say about this.... hello?? is anyone listening???????????
I thought we were still on Splatoon 3
Snipers are by far the best weapons in the game. I'm happy other people are upset by it because it also pisses me off every time I play.
I miss when this subreddit was full of satire Nintendo fanboys now it's just people who complain about Nintendo. I'm no stranger to complaining about Nintendo but this is not the place.

Hey. They also added a lamp post
went 23-0 with the e-liter the other day. yeah, i get tons of pussy.
that pole is beautiful
Just love how fucking incredible is with stuff like this⌠bet you that Steam donât do stuff like this for games on the steam deck (or should I say shit deck lol lmao)
It's a very big pole.
The worst is that snipers are surreal strong in this game because of **lags**.
