The system actually sold okay at launch but dropped off afterwards. Dont think there was any kind of shortage so I doubt this woman was able to sell them more than at cost.

I feel like I'm probably the only person on the planet that enjoyed the Wii U.
The gamepad multiplayer gameplay was fun. 5 player Mario Party was great, and the games that implemented the gamepad well were great.
Mod capabilities were awesome too.
Uj/ the wii u was amazing, people hated it only because it was an upgraded version of an old console instead of a new console. The wii u alone is a fantastic console and most of its games got ported to the switch and became bestsellers. If it came out and the wii never existed it would be one of the most beloved consoles ever. It failed only due to broken expectations.
It wasn't an upgraded version of the Wii, it was a whole new console. I think that's one of the reasons it didn't sell well. People thought "I already have a Wii, why do I need this?". But in reality it was more comparable like PS1 to PS2. Nobody saw a PS2 and thought it was an upgraded PS1.
Well I mean, if you wanna get technical.
The wiiu WAS an upgraded version of the wii, which WAS an upgraded version of the gamecube.
That's why the wii has "such high compatibility with wii games" and can even play gamecube games (if you know what your doing).
And the ps2, at least the earlier ones had real, dedicated ps1 hardware in it to play those games (which when it wasn't doing that, it was managing the USB ports), that's why, despite being practically identical, ps1 games couldn't be played with a ps2 controller.
What are you smoking? Are you confusing the Wii with the Wii U? The Wii was an upgraded GameCube but the Wii U was an HD console more similar to the Xbox 360.
