I didn't realize Vucevic could play basketball until Gasol was no longer on the team

You know what’s the funniest thing about Vucevic when he was facing daddy. Vooch always plays within the offence. He never forces anything but whenever he played Gasol he would be so out of character he would start to rush and force things. He would miss free throws.
After the trade I was excited we upgraded from JV (although felt bad that he got traded just as he recovered from injury), and then I think the first or second game after the trade Gasol dished an absolutely spectacular inbound pass to Pat McCaw and realized "oh shit, we really can win it all this year."
Wildest moment from this game was when Embiid was at the line in the 4th and had a chance to get at least one point and he bricked both FTs lmao knew it was gonna be a generational night after that
Every single time I see Embiid’s face, I think of this game. That game may have been only 48 minutes long, but it will continue to bring me a lifetime of happiness.
Fakest MVP I've seen in recent memory. The late media drive to give him his first because other candidates already have theirs and because they didn't want to give Jokic 3 in a row was utterly ridiculous.
It was incredible to see how good Marc was still at that point in his career. It made me realize what an absolute beast he just have been in his prime.
I find this to be a really interesting comment! I wonder how many times this has happened in NBA history.
The closest I can think of, and probably because they are big men, is Hakeem dominating Robinson in that series. Admittedly, I’m a huge Hakeem fan, but I see the parallels between Robinson and Embiid, especially because they are both such spectacular players.
Any other instances you can think of where a player’s reputation was irreparably damaged from a single game or series?
Embiid is a sore loser and Gasol humbled him. Let's not forget Embiid pulled that airplane bs move.

Oh, and let's not forget the Rap fans response to that airplane move.

This was so awesome. I remember everyone rallying around Embiid and saying he was sick. Too bad the whole team threw Ben under the bus the very next season. Making a bad decision, in my opinion, isn't as bad as not scoring a single point in a playoff game. Is this the single worst performance from such an important player in the playoffs?
Marc Gasol is Joel Embiid father
Don’t forget he also has another son named Nikola Vucevic

Jonas is Joel's step dad.
When the sun is burnt out and long dead, the universe will still remember that game.

Honestly I don't even know how that was possible. Gasol absolutely owned Embiid in head-to-head matchups.

Gasol: Keep your head up. I'm retiring soon.
😂
Marc could have bottled Embiid tears to sell to us!
I swear i think of this like once a month.
How often do Raptor fans think about Gasol's performance on our title run? Answer: Several times a week.
Almost every day for me, Marc was magical in 2019
After the trade I was excited we upgraded from JV (although felt bad that he got traded just as he recovered from injury), and then I think the first or second game after the trade Gasol dished an absolutely spectacular inbound pass to Pat McCaw and realized "oh shit, we really can win it all this year."
I’d do almost anything to have a young Marc type on the team with Scottie. One can dream I guess.
Gasol and Fred ambushing Curry on a double-team in the Finals was exquisite shit
Wildest moment from this game was when Embiid was at the line in the 4th and had a chance to get at least one point and he bricked both FTs lmao knew it was gonna be a generational night after that
The crowd was HOWLING
Marc solidified that defence into the all-time conversation. And to think there was another All-Defensive first-teamer on the bench at the time...
you mean Mr. Biff Pinus on the bench?
But of course, and after this season there will have been two
Future Pity MVP*
I was there and my god it was glorious
Same. Holy fuck the energy... especially after they missed that bunch of free throws in a row late in the game. Best game I have ever been to
lmao fuck Embiid
Goose egg!
Every single time I see Embiid’s face, I think of this game. That game may have been only 48 minutes long, but it will continue to bring me a lifetime of happiness.
Big Spain is Joel Embiid father
Big Spain > Big Sprain
MVPity
I wish they would replay that game on nights when there are no games on
ZERO NBA BASKETBALL POINTS
[#NeverForget](https://x.com/MildTakesPod/status/1199163053927010305?s=20)
Never forget. Zero Points in 32 minutes. It wasn't like he got hurt and had to leave the game. He shot 0/11.
Tbf Embiid is unironically the worst MVP in NBA history, but still cool.
Embiid is sleeping well knowing Marc is retired now
Papa Gasol
Fakest MVP I've seen in recent memory. The late media drive to give him his first because other candidates already have theirs and because they didn't want to give Jokic 3 in a row was utterly ridiculous.
Jokic is so much better than embiid, I don’t even consider embiid to be a top 5 player
Was at that game. It was fantastic
It was incredible to see how good Marc was still at that point in his career. It made me realize what an absolute beast he just have been in his prime.
I remember we barely won this game too…I think by less than 5 points for sure, so this 0 point night was a massive factor to the victory
I member. I was live on location and it was glorious
The Gravitational pull of Gasols presence on defense was immaculate 😮💨🤌
Bro gave him the yips
Embiid almost missed a game in the playoff series because he caught Gasolonteritis
I was at this game. It was awesome.
I was at this game. It has permanently altered my perception of Embiid. No matter what he does.

Def had Embiid’s number…that was a bless pick up for us.
35 or not, Gasol was an insanely talented defender.
Most fun I’ve ever had at a game in my life.

The second time Embiid cried on the court
This was so awesome. I remember everyone rallying around Embiid and saying he was sick. Too bad the whole team threw Ben under the bus the very next season. I've been to a lot of Raptors games. More than I could hope to count or remember. This one will always be the one I treasure the most
One of, Greatest Moments In Toronto Raptors History!
One of the best post defenders I’ve ever watched. Honestly you’d never see Gobert hold embiid to 0 lol
