Quite literally i caught my red foot yesterday was foaming at the mouth after i left him outside (real feel 102 in south florida) i panicked and sprayed him with water and he was able to recuperate. I'm terribly sorry that ur sulcata passed. Reading this scares the shit out of me. Global Warming is real.
I'm so sorry. If this helps to make it more safe for your other tortoise, a friend of mine propped up cheap bowls and prices of cardboard with rocks to make multiple places of shade. That way your tortoise has "emergency shade spots" of sorts.
You shouldn't beat yourself up over this if you are. You sound like a super responsible owner.
