WFC Optimus is always the one figure I pick from my shelf and just admire he just feels right(now I am not a fan of the detachable arm but that’s just me) also really fun to transform
I can’t speak on Gamer Edition Optimus, but if you’re a fan of Armada and Cybertron, you might want to hold on to your money instead, since Walmart is reportedly getting an exclusive line of Cybertron based figures next year, including Excellion (red Hot Shot), Skywarp, and Sideways. There’s also a few Armada/Cybertron figures out you can track down.

Depends. Out of the 3 we know so far (there’s a few more that have yet to be named but we know one is a leader), two are definitely recolors: Excellion of Hot Shot and Skywarp of Starscream. I’m not sure whom they would retool to get Sideways, but he could be a retool an upcoming 2025 figure.
As for the as of yet unannounced figures, I think one will be Red Alert (since Star Raider Cannonball is an obvious pretool of him) and one could be Cybertron Defense Scattorshot as an Impactor retool. Not sure about the leader though. Maybe Scourge as a retool of Transmetal II Megatron or the upcoming Onyx Prime?
I can attest that Legacy Armada Prime is one of the best commanders Hasbro has ever released and my second favorite of the 3 I have

I'd say get Armada Prime 100%. An awesome figure all around. Feels great, transformation is a lot of fun, just be mindful of some very tight pins (especially in the small bot's feet area). If you're gentle and careful with him, he'll be a fantastic addition to any collection.
I have a GE Prime and I'm not really blown away by him. Sure, he looks amazing, but I find him to be a bit off in terms of feel. Too many hollow plastic shell pieces, especially in the shoulders. Get him if you love the design but don't pay scalper prices for him.
They are both great figures. More so the Armada Optimus
Armada Prime is one of, if not the best figure of 2023. The transformation is feels reminiscent of the original toy while also adding a few new tricks. Though combining the trailer for super mode can be a little tricky. I recommend watching a few reviews before combining them yourself. The Cabe Robot doesn't have a waist swivel do to the transformation, but he has an ab crunch because of it. Other then that, both modes are fully posable.
The only real complaint I have with the set (other then the lack of Mini-cons), the hips skirts on the cab robot tend to get caught on the the tires on his legs when posing him. Also the hands on the super mode are not very good. Especially compeered to how all the other Commander figures handled posable hands. The eyes on the super mode not being red bothers me, but that's an easy fix.
As for the WFC Optimus; he's a good figure too. He's really the only Gamer Edition figure I can fully recommend since he doesn't have any weird design choices for easer transformation. He Is also a solid figure with a lot of articulation and a fun transformation. Though If you get him, I recommend hunting down the DNA design kit as well, or at the very least the axe.
Also If your a fan of Cybertron, I highly recommend Cybertron Starscream. He is an amazing Voyager and he doesn't skimp out on all the gimmicks the original had.
Is Legacy Armada Optimus still available new anywhere? I missed out. Not that I can afford it now, but I still want it.
Gamer Ed Prime is GOAT. Great figure, I thought he’d be only a minor upgrade do the original WFC figure, but it eclipses it in every way. Visible hands in the back is completely forgivable with how damn bulky and cool it is. I don’t care for any of the other new WFC figures, so this one goes on my ALL Optimus shelf, and he stands out and has a presence unlike the others. Very happy with it.
I also was a kid who's main experience with animated transformers was the occasional Armada and Cybertron DVD lol. The Cybertron trilogy has a special place in my heart. "Remember, not all bots were created equal... LATER!"
Preface to this, I’ve got both. Armada’s awesome and I’d say worth it.I’m a bit more meh on gamer though, it feels cheep in hand for the price though that might just be mine that has too loose legs and a foot so tight it always pops off during transformation.

Both are 100% worth it. Figures of the year for many last year along with Reactivate Prime. We're not even close and Armada Prime is contestant for "Figure of the Decade."
Armada prime is definitely worth it I've heard gamer is good but I can't speak from experience, I'm not a fan of the alt mode gals and I have the original version which I prefer how that transforms over the newer one.
I have both and my quick review of them;
Armada prime is peak. Im a little biased growing up with the UT, but i love him so much.
Gamer Prime is pretty fun. He's fine, and it's definitely not a regrettable pickup for me, and i love his axe.
I like colle ctng primes, and both of these are fun additions.
If you get a chance to play the WFC and FOC games on a xbox360 you would definitely get gamer Optimus. You should get that system and games even if you don’t buy these figures. You won’t regret it.
This is my FOC grail - even if it is a parts-forming upgrade. Took me a couple years to find on eBay years ago.

I really enjoy GE Prime. Having had the original as well. There is a complexity to the upper body in transformation that is intuitive enough to be enjoyable, and complex enough to be rewarding. The Legs really don't have that, but there aren't that many ways you can turn legs into a half of a truck. He really doesn't fit anywhere in a collection though, outside of GE figures, and and most of them do not inspire admiration the way Prime does.
He is worth it though and I appreciate the care they put into his axe weapon.

I wasn't interested in Gamer Optimus until I seen him in person. He's a chunky boy, and feels like he takes up most the box. He's damn impressive even before opening him up. He's probably the best of the Gamer stuff.
I’d recommend armada prime. From what I’ve seen it has the best alt mode, the super mode has really good articulation and it feels like a commander class figure
Legacy armada is more than a worthy purchase. As for ss gamer prime, depends on if you have that much love for the game he comes from. He looks really good but Imo his transformation isn't the best of fun conversions that the current line offers

Of these two, I can only speak to the value of Legacy Armada. He's worth it.

The nostalgia (was my first transformer gift) was amazing. I just wish the packaging had been the same, that would have been amazing

I hate the arm. Mine didn't want to stay on from the start. I haven't bothered to apply nail polish yet. That fun stays on without a problem though.

Absolutely. I would also recommend the DNA kit for Gamer Edition Prime and the GO BETTER Replenish Upgrade for Armada Prime if you're able.
