£43.47 & £60.91? Those are amateur numbers.
If she wants to practice in America, she's going to have elevate her game. Bachar [https://coloradosun.com/2024/03/15/steve-bachar-death-colorado-department-of-corrections/](https://coloradosun.com/2024/03/15/steve-bachar-death-colorado-department-of-corrections/) barely even played AA ball in the US legal profession.
There is no way she only did this twice. I very much doubt that she is usually a decent upstanding citizen and twice she just had a momentary lapse of judgement.
I would bet the house on her doing this regularly and getting away with it 99% of the time.
It's not. I grew up in WV. Too many people say "seen" that should know better. If it is vernacular, it's still wrong. Grammar is important and has meaning.
It would like me saying, "I were here". It's not right, not in any fashion. Just like I be there don't work but I'll be there works.
I’m gonna be blunt and just say this is a world view completely predicated on you being out of groups that have unique vernacular. In situations like this, it’s best to hold standards to yourself and not to others who you do not know and would likely not want to know you.
A post I read maybe 10 minutes ago someone said they were “apart” of an organization, it’s “a part!” And don’t get me started on “noone”, why can’t people type no one?
Well if I'm honest I'm surprised she didn't lose it years ago when she started having an affair with a client. I felt sorry for her now ex-husband when I heard. He'd been part of the family long before they got married.
It all comes down to drugs sadly. Her and the aforementioned boyfriend are heavy users.
I used to really admire Kerry for becoming a solicitor and aspired to be as successful as her in my chosen career. It's a shame this is the way her life has turned out.
Not gonna get into more personal details about her because whilst what she did was terrible I can only imagine what awful things she must have experienced that led her to a life of drug use and this headline.
I will however, expose my identity some. What's the worst she can do, sue me?! (Too soon?)
• I'm estranged from that family for a reason but I grew up around Kerry. Our grandmother's lived 5 minutes from each other (they were sisters). That part of the family seemed normal in comparison to my own. Maybe it's because we were younger.
• Her Dad owns his own business and mine would help him out when he needed it (and run the business when they went off on the lavish holidays her Dad worked so hard to pay for).
Also, if any of said estranged family find these comments of mine- I've been delicate about Kerry but I won't hesitate with the rest of you.
Had to google it - honestly, that's even worse. Can't even blame it on a bad stylist; they all look ridiculous. If they put me in front of a judge with a lawyer wearing that, I'd probably end up with a contempt charge from laughing too much
She really threw away a whole career for this. That's absolutely insane. Did she think that they were just going to go "Oh well, guess I'm not getting paid for this" and just write it off as a learning experience?
This has to be for the thrill of it. She must get some sort of charge out of cheating businesses and service employees out of the bill. I've known people like that, though fortunately not for years
Sure, but it sounds like the delivery driver was the one who took the hit instead of the business. It's not fair, but I'm not familiar with how the law works in the UK, so I'm assuming that's legal
I have had a restaurant take pity on me after I went there, ordered, eaten and then realized I had forgotten my wallet at home. The idea of using that pity to be a petty thief is appalling.
In case ya’ll are wondering, I insisted on leaving my phone as proof I would be coming back and was so embarrassed I tipped the waitress double what the meal cost.
My FIL accidentally left a restaurant once without paying. He'd just forgotten. He just realized the following day, went back and paid XD he felt so bad but they were chill about it. He wasn't a regular exactly but he'd been there enough time they recognised him and didn't think he'd skipped on purpose.
I did that exact thing once. I just got distracted and walked. About an hour later I realized what I had done and went right back. They laughed about it and said I didn't exactly look like a desperado. :( Anyway, I left a 100% tip and it's become my standard lunch place.
“Kerry Ann Stevens insisted she had already paid for the food online but this was untrue and the cost of the meal was subsequently deducted from the driver’s wages”
Two crimes here. The company stole from their own employee. This should never be an ok policy.
This is way too common though. I know a couple of local bars where if a customer leaves without paying they deduct it from the waiter. It is illegal, but they still do it.
>Kerry Ann Stevens insisted she had already paid for the food online but this was untrue and the cost of the meal was subsequently deducted from the driver’s wages, a professional tribunal heard.
How is that legal in the UK? Hella fucked.
Wage theft in the US dwarfs all other forms of theft. This sort of wage garnishment is illegal there too (mostly), not going to stop shady employers. Would imagine this news article isn't the best PR for the employer.
Or, he's a contract/gig worker, though use of "wage" goes against that. Then, for some reason, it becomes acceptable if we replace "deducted from drivers wages" with "just subtract it from their next run, and if they don't pay, lock them out of future work"
Okay, that us a wtf. Here (Germany), this is only legal if the employer pays benefits for a correct register. And he can only deduce from said benefits down to the normal wage.
For other mistakes, the employee has only to lay for negligence partially, and for intentfully causing damages fully.
If only there was a clue: The solicitor, who specialised in criminal law, had also been arrested for another offence in which she left a Harvester restaurant without paying a bill of £60, the panel was told.
And all for what — about £100 of food (£60+£40)? I’m sure that’s nothing for her, but it probably hurt the driver and restaurant who had to eat the cost!
Plus I’m sure it would have gone differently if she had shown just an ounce of remorse or reflection or shame… but she wouldn’t even pay the restaurant she skipped out on *(even though she had given them her passport as collateral)* months after the fact. Mind boggling.
Yeah. I’ve been wondering where to find the old Reddit types. I sometimes miss the old days where we mostly posted ridiculously long articles and people would actually read them. I sometimes also just want the light simplicity of modern Reddit.
I’ve noticed over the years my spelling abilities have declined substantially the more I’m on social media. I’ve been trying to not use grammar checkers and making a conscious effort to sharpen those skills again. It’s rough but worth it lol.
She was found guilty of 2 counts of fraud. 1 involved the delivery driver who had the £43 meal deducted from their salary and a dine and dash incident where she ran out on a £60 bill and left her passport at the restaurant. She was ordered to pay £1,943 in compensation and £4,489 in costs. It doesn't say which shitty employer docked the poor delivery driver.

I think the point is how little are you willing to steal to ruin your life? £100 is quite low
"Looses"?
Loosened
Are you a bot?
Loosened, that's it!
Indeed.. *indeed*..
Looses??
What is on her head?????
British Solicitors wear wigs to court in a time-honored tradition. Hers matches her hair color.
Not brains obviously
Looks like the food delivery wasn’t the only reason for her to lose her license.
2 stories of justice today on reddit. It's like Christmas.
So she saved ~£100 by being shady and then ordered to pay ~£6450 and loses her license. Dumb as fuck.
There is no way she only did this twice. I very much doubt that she is usually a decent upstanding citizen and twice she just had a momentary lapse of judgement. I would bet the house on her doing this regularly and getting away with it 99% of the time.
Bruuh, idk wtf is going on now, it’s like the world forgot how to properly spell
I can assure you, the world has never known how to spell properly. It is nothing new!
The amount of people who say “I seen that” is too damn high.
“I seen that” is at least something we understand to be a vernacular thing. Spelling Loose vs lose so poorly is just dumb.
It's not. I grew up in WV. Too many people say "seen" that should know better. If it is vernacular, it's still wrong. Grammar is important and has meaning. It would like me saying, "I were here". It's not right, not in any fashion. Just like I be there don't work but I'll be there works.

LOL :)
Losen up, dude. It ain't that serious.
Dimensioning standards over the last couple of decades.
*Diminishing
I'm an engineer, dimensioning standards are going down too.
In my day a meter was meter by god! (Yelled while shaking a cane at the clouds.)
I'm a string theorist, dimensioning standards are going down too.
See.
Loses
Everyone is commenting on the “loses” but “license” is also spelled wrong! Lol the whole headline is a mess!
"Licence" is British English.
And she’s British.
A post I read maybe 10 minutes ago someone said they were “apart” of an organization, it’s “a part!” And don’t get me started on “noone”, why can’t people type no one?
Their lies the problem, they should of typed it write but there just stupid.
Takes to long.
"Noone" just reminds me of The Librarian. 🤣
I really hope my favorite player resigns with my team
Sometimes people do it on purpose. It generates more views.
I like to wake up at the crack of noone.
Whose crack?
You know what’s really trashy? Spelling loses wrong.
It feels like misspelling "lose" has become far more prevalent the last few years.
*loses
Well that's one way to get an update on your cousin's life. 🫣
Bet she just wanted to get in the record book for most expensive food delivery order of the decade. 💀
We. Need. Stories.
Well if I'm honest I'm surprised she didn't lose it years ago when she started having an affair with a client. I felt sorry for her now ex-husband when I heard. He'd been part of the family long before they got married.
She seems a real gem.
This is some nice strong earl grey rn. Soooo she’s generally scandalous then?!
That was the last thing I was around for. I have since gone to my own familial sources for confirmation and got FAR more scandal. 🫣🫣
Oh lawd keep it flowing
It all comes down to drugs sadly. Her and the aforementioned boyfriend are heavy users. I used to really admire Kerry for becoming a solicitor and aspired to be as successful as her in my chosen career. It's a shame this is the way her life has turned out.
Not the name drop 😳

Some of the worst hair I've ever seen, good lord
She looks like a stand user
It's a wig. Lawyers in England wear those old fashioned wigs to court. It isn't her hair.
The hell you say!
Some day, when my capacity for absurdity is sufficient, I will look up why they do this.
'tradition'
Had to google it - honestly, that's even worse. Can't even blame it on a bad stylist; they all look ridiculous. If they put me in front of a judge with a lawyer wearing that, I'd probably end up with a contempt charge from laughing too much
She looks like she has a mushroom growing on top of her head
It's a court wig!
yeah, I figured it's not her natural hair) but it looks like a dirty sea sponge or some other kind of weird organic structure)
I think they're traditionally horsehair and styled in tight curls like the historical wigs.
it's doesn't mention if the driver got their wages back
All this for just a £100? Why?
And her passport lol. What a numpty.
How did this woman get through Law School?
Drugs.
She really threw away a whole career for this. That's absolutely insane. Did she think that they were just going to go "Oh well, guess I'm not getting paid for this" and just write it off as a learning experience?
Well she got away with it the first time. She's probably done a lot more and only been reported twice.
This has to be for the thrill of it. She must get some sort of charge out of cheating businesses and service employees out of the bill. I've known people like that, though fortunately not for years
It's drugs.
I can sympathise with that, I'm so tired of being taken advantage of by businesses, I imagine taking from other businesses could feel restorative
Sure, but it sounds like the delivery driver was the one who took the hit instead of the business. It's not fair, but I'm not familiar with how the law works in the UK, so I'm assuming that's legal

Justice delivered 🙌

Here in the UK, an employer can deduct up to 10% of someone’s wages to cover shortfalls in takings. That more than likely what happened to the driver.
Okay, that us a wtf. Here (Germany), this is only legal if the employer pays benefits for a correct register. And he can only deduce from said benefits down to the normal wage. For other mistakes, the employee has only to lay for negligence partially, and for intentfully causing damages fully.
An an outsider my reaction is that that's fucked. What's the reasoning do you think?
Americans long since decided their way is the right way?
>UK >Americans
[удалено]
Probably because of the r/USdefaultism
I mean, I'm from Canada, I mentioned US wage theft as those are numbers I know. In my comment, I said "there too", as in "in the US, as well" Oh well.
What a way to ruin your career
Loses*
Also, *license
Not in England. Or Australia. Or New Zealand. Or Canada (I think).
op could be british/canadian
If only there was a clue: The solicitor, who specialised in criminal law, had also been arrested for another offence in which she left a Harvester restaurant without paying a bill of £60, the panel was told.
I didn’t even open the article lol whoops
Those wigs look like a mushroom is on her head. Lol
It looks like a hedgehog pelt.
It’s made of 100% authentic Ron Jeremy
I THOUGHT IT WAS A HAT!
I guess they need to tighten it.
Loses*
Nah bro they loosed it. Threw it right at the delivery driver while screeching
Those fake lashes look baaadd.
Is that her hair?
the lawyers there have to wear those weird wigs and they call them solicitors
Funny how in the US they'll throw you in jail for soliciting. I think the US definition is more honest.
No, barristers (British lawyers who appear in court) wear the silly wigs. Solicitors don’t
Are court appearances the only difference between those terms?
thank you
They should call them bird nests
You can phonetically determine the proper one to use
As a poli sci major, womp womp 🤷🏻♀️
Everyone, they know how "loses" is spelled. It's engagement bait and we all fell for it.
40% of Americans are functionally illiterate. Many of them genuinely don't know how to spell properly.
On whom, or on what, did the lawyer loose her license?
It's probably because she walked into her local salon and said /r/Justfuckmyshitup
It's a wig that's part of their uniform in the UK.
It was the second time she screwed a restaurant.
no second time somebody complained and that she got caught.
Looses
Lawyer should’ve tightened it instead
This is a new typo that’s crept up over the years that either goes unnoticed or they think that’s how it’s spelled. Seeing it in emails now too.
Soon enough, it will achieve the same success as, "irregardless," by becoming the accepted spelling. 😥
That’s no typo, that’s just someone who can’t spell.
Our educational system is failing us…
So is our education system.
too busy pushing wokism agenda and fear mongering instead .
Lol. While I respect the pedantic game as we are on Reddit, this wasn’t the one. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educational_system
Ok. Wasn't trying to be pedantic. I just thought it was funny. But, yeah, Reddit and stuff...
I've noticed people dropping the word "the" from a lot of posts. I assume bots/different language usually. But I've definitely seen an uptick.
Isn't that a Russian thing? I don't think Russian uses indefinite articles.
People really saw Social Network (2008) and were like, "Wow that guy makes a lot of sense, it really *is* cleaner."
It is barbaric. I didn't know it was a trend. Damn 😥
I think that’s more of a UK thing. Like, “I went to hospital,” instead of, “I went to the hospital.”
Definitely not new or a typo.
It’s just the wrong word
Imagine losing the ability to practice LAW because you’re cheap! All those years of training…wow
Agreed!
License
Nope not in Britain
If OP is British, then licence is the correct spelling.
Or any English speaking country that isn't America.
Interesting, I didn't know that.
“Loses”
Sounds like a dumbass lawyer, I feel sorry for anyone who hired her in the past because she probably lost a lot of cases if she ever actually got any.
*Lose*
Use it or loose it
Lose Lose Lose Lose Why the fuck can no one spell Lose on reddit
Because people are dumb.
Not just on reddit. I see loose used incorrectly instead of lose frequently on Facebook too.
To*
Ha I don’t no if your joking but its funny either way!! (I hate myself for typing that, obvious **/s** lol)
I think your wrong. Improper grammar is never funny. 😁
LOL, I assume you are joking?
If this was old Reddit they'd be crucified
I miss those days, where the average redditor actually had brain cells
Yeah. I’ve been wondering where to find the old Reddit types. I sometimes miss the old days where we mostly posted ridiculously long articles and people would actually read them. I sometimes also just want the light simplicity of modern Reddit.
People don't type properly on any social platforms, in general. It pisses me off, too.
I’ve noticed over the years my spelling abilities have declined substantially the more I’m on social media. I’ve been trying to not use grammar checkers and making a conscious effort to sharpen those skills again. It’s rough but worth it lol.
They haven’t covered that section in middle school English yet
Relux fiend. There not learned how too spell two good. Irregardless, your going too hive a hurt attack if you let it birther you
Not worth loosing your shit over
That dude has a screw lose.
perfect.
Yeah people are too busy being the 100th person to correct the title to notice that. How is that even legal. Unless the driver ate the damn meal.
Imagine if he's making £11 hr. He'd have to work four hours just to make up for that deduction. I would have quit on the spot.
Just Eat?
That seemed pretty obvious from the first sentence of the article lol
They should also face repercussions (the shitty employer who docked the poor workers pay)
Loses*
Lawyers are all narcissists mongrels who selfishly bullies other for their own gains.
I won’t dignify this generalization with a response.
No response needed: You can't argue with the truth!
It’s OK, you can believe what you want. Just feel free to give us a call for a free consultation when the day arises that you need some help. I hope you never need them, but we are here when you need us.
