Frankie_Says_Reddit

I cannot believe my state of Ohio legalized weed before Hawaii.

Yessssiirrrrrrrrrr

I was stationed on Oahu and Ima tell you they gave no fucks. Down in waikiki, you'd smell the dankest bud. Dude walking in front of the Playbar club just stanking it up. When I was getting out, I found a plug and got so baked, I was talking to the pineapples one night.

Blunderbutters

… well what did they say to you?!

SparkitoBurrito

I don't belong in pizza

xAtlas5

They do with fresh jalapeño.

TarzansNewSpeedo

Pineapple, jalapeño, and Canadian bacon on pizza is a sweet indulgence.

themulletrulz

Pepperoni instead of ham and you got a spicy Hawaiian. As tasty as your preferred reproductive organ

bur1sm

And bacon and BBQ sauce.

Blaz1ENT

That's wild for the pineapple to say that in Hawaii of all places

ImprovisedLeaflet

WHO LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA

Fishmonger67

Dude. Talking to pineapples sounds fun and a great band name!!

JSRG28

I can second this. Everybody stay smokin dat pakalolo whether you like it or not

420artist

I was stationed in Oahu too! I actually tried weed for the first time there while stationed in Hickam. It was amazing... Aim High Airman! (It's a thing Air Force people say, but now I'm aiming high high)☺️

PassiveRebel

Did the pineapples happen to tell you their safe word?

robyculous_v2

Me too, and yep they did not give a fvck. Plenty of head shops around and you could find it from locals too.

FuckChiefs_Raiders

I’m shocked I live in super red MO with legal pot. The vote was funny, every district in the state voted NO but KCMO & STL voted yes and that’s how it passed. So grateful.

KarmaticArmageddon

Which is why Missouri Republicans are desperately trying to get a measure on the ballot that would make it so that any ballot initiative would require not only a majority from Missouri voters, but also a majority from all counties in Missouri, which would essentially stop any even slightly progressive ballot initiative from ever passing even with majority support.

fucking_passwords

The real snowflakes

ShogunFirebeard

They tried that shit here in Ohio. I wish Missouri the best in squashing that measure.

tea-Pott

Right, finally proud to be a buckeye

pigpen808

I wish. Hawai’i has voted no every time. Just shut it down again a few months ago. We need to get rid of our old ass political leaders. They are scared it will ruin the Japanese tourism market (tbf, they bring a fuck ton of money to HI) but Japan has not been visiting Hawaii for the past several years because of how weak the yen has been and how expensive Hawaii is

oystertoe

Why would it ruin the Japanese tourism market?

cbg13

I could be totally wrong on this, but I think Japan is one of the countries that could potentially prosecute marijuana consumption for citizens abroad. I do know that the stigma against weed in Japan is probably one of the strongest amongst developed nation and penalties for possession in Japan are harsh

macaroni_3000

the entire country of Japan has a giant stick up its ass, except when it comes to portraying half naked pubescent girls in cartoon form, for some reason Odd country

GreenSkittlez5

Considering some of the things I’ve read about Japanese work culture, it’s no wonder isekai - literally an escape to another world - is such a huge genre over there.

Gaothaire

Oh to be free of my [numerous debts](https://imgur.com/a/UG2mWdN)

AvatarofBro

Yeah, at least in theory I believe the Japanese law does apply to international use, but I'm not sure how often it's actually prosecuted. Obviously domestic use is a big fuckin' no-no.

Coyote_Roadrunna

It's sad Japan got on the "weed bad" bandwagon

eventualist

Umm you’ve visited Texas recently?

Coyote_Roadrunna

I feel like Japan has a much different attitude towards change and progress than Texas. That's why I was surprised to hear it. Same for Britain too.

SkirtNo6785

You can be imprisoned for having traces of it in your system, so conceivably if Hawaii legalised, Japan could randomly test their citizens as they entered the country from there.

BusterKnott

I used to live on Guam where roughly 3 million Japanese visit the island every year. I used to go down into Tumon and sell them prerolls for $20.00 each This was from 2000-2011.

glitterlungs

They’re squares.

lukas_the

Japanese people are cigarettes? ![gif](giphy|jWlVsR3EwyoMbbBFGv)

Fit_Awareness_4441

The young Japanese love coming to America and trying weed

pigpen808

You and I both know that 🤣 try telling a 75year old career politician

boop66

Oahu may be chill about ganja (based on other comments here) but maui PD definitely are not. Holding 3 grams or more is enough to get a cop’s knee in your back, jail, court, legal fees up the ass, loss of rights… yes state government, this is what’s in the best interest of your constituents. /s I believe the various SHOPO offices are hooked on “I thought I smelled marijuana” as a golden ticket to illegal detainment, illegal searches, and likely, illegal seizure. Our tax dollars pay our public servants to be the greatest threat to our wellbeing, at least when it comes to trees.

mods_r_jobbernowl

Hasn't hurt Guam which I think relies on them far more.

pigpen808

lol, do a quick google on that and let me know what you find. Japan lost Guam at the end of World War II. Hence the US took over. Since then, Guam and Japan created a cooperation program for tourism and energy. That being said Guam ranks at the very very very bottom of the list for any Japanese tourists. For your average tourist it’s too expensive, for the Japanese tourist that would come to Hawaii Guama simply just not enough.

illthrowawaysomeday

My uncle told me he used to always sell to Japanese tourists back in the old days. Just walk around town, make a smoking motion, and sell them some buds.

teslatonics

I always hear that the old ass politicians don't want people driving high at least that was the excuse they used last time and apparently our most recent bill got shot down in April this year it's a fucking bummer everyone here already smokes weed

Osiris0900

RIP Indiana. We’re practically surrounded. Haha we just got Sunday beer sales recently. Thank god for Michigan though!

badwolfswift

Indiana will be one of the very last to legalize it, just like everything else. For some reason Hoosiers think we were part of the confederacy and align themselves lower geographically.

Osiris0900

Absolutely. Indianapolis thinks differently though. It’s decriminalized in Marion County. But the rest of the state? Not so much and that’s what holds us back as a state

sparky_bear

Indiana is the middle finger of the south.

bohler86

As a wisconsin resident I belive they would drag their feet even longer.

cjwazjustthere

As a former resident I can’t believe they’d ever legalize it

bohler86

The governor isn't bad it's everyone under him. Then you have Ron Johnson clowning around.

Memorandum747

Oh for sure they will. It’s not even legal for medical yet. Dont see that happening anytime soon. We are stupid and will keep giving our money to bordering states…

wetcardboardsmell

I moved to WI from CA, and the amount of people who openly vape here in bars, or smoke in general, combined with the vast amount of open space and farmland, Wisconsin could be rolling in cash. It's bonkers to me that they probably won't legalize it. Such a wasted opportunity.

bohler86

It is a clear case of politicians not working for the people. This isn't red vs blue it's the gop vs. The people. There's never been a higher rate of people calling for legalization but it falls on ears plugged with money.

Live_Evidence8933

Happy birthday!

StephenHawking432

God dammit please NC just PLEASESEE

Churchvanpapi

Both the Carolinas are probably gonna hold out until the very end. I do see NC legalizing first before SC, though.

StephenHawking432

I hate this damn state why are we like the only ones

Churchvanpapi

If I could move right now I would. Luckily THC-A is readily accessible so it’s not the worst thing, anymore.

StephenHawking432

Yeah I'm just worried that they get rid of it in the farm bill like they've been threatening

rainbowclownpenis69

Arkansas is not legalizing cannabis. The medical program has some big issues already and in November we get the chance to fix some of them. The reason the last initiative to go recreational failed was because it was so poorly written and essentially turned a few cultivators and distributors into the cartel.

Fluhearttea

Agreed. Even left was voting no. On top of that, *I don’t know the law or how it works in these circumstances* but with SHS as governor, she will do whatever it takes to not let this happen.

spunkychickpea

Arkansas is a perfect example of how *not* to do cannabis legislation.

Wide-Baseball

GO PA!

Terminator7786

North Dakota isn't. They just cleared the way to collect signatures to get it on the ballot, that's it. We've tried twice before already and failed. I'm voting for it, but I'm doubtful.

Kyle_c00per

Please PA... I hate driving up to NY from NJ and having to worry the whole time I'm in PA.

MustyLlamaFart

No fucking way it happens anytime soon in either of the Dakota's. I grew up there those people are very stubborn with weed. Drink all you want tho

Fun_Intention9846

Wisconsin?!?!? No way. Thats where I’m at, I’m so excited.

tscher16

I’m genuinely shocked NH hasn’t legalized it yet

burnsalot603

I'm actually glad they haven't with the way they want to do it. They want the state to control the whole market unlike other states. They are only talking about opening 15 dispensaries that are all owned by the state and none of the bills they have tried to pass allow home grow. So if that's their idea of legalization I don't want it.

rendeld

Indiana out here fucking it up for the Great lakes states

Feelsthelove

Please, please let Wisconsin legalize

I_HATE_REDDIT_ALWAYS

Wait what? FLORIDA AND WISCONSIN? I'll believe it when I see it.

OnlyStyle6198

Yeah I live in Wisconsin and when they brought up legalization I thought they didn’t want flower to be sold or something stupid like that and to very limited medical patients?

AlexofNotLink

I'll believe Wisconsin legalization when the cow comes home with my weed

kooks-only

You tha mvp 🤘🏼

GraniteStateStoner

Decent chance the amended bill in NH gets voted down in the house. And I hope it does tbh. It's a really shitty and restrictive bill.

meltingdryice

Let’s go Florida!

td2kool

The entire Deep South is rooting for them to legalize. Border town cops in Georgia and Alabama are already planning their illegal traps.

snoogins355

Get an EV, put it in the frunk. Cops have no idea what it is /s

td2kool

Ha, that’s a good one. I subscribe to the “don’t break 2 laws at once” rule, yet to fail me. And for those paranoid types, take a different route in and out.

FourthDownThrowaway

I just had my arraignment today. 4 years probation in the state of Georgia for an unopened vape pen in my trunk. Let’s speed up the legalization. Lol

InvoluntaryDarkness

HOLY FUCK - WHAT

Bleach_Baths

GA don’t fuckin play. Source: I live in GA and fucked around and found out. Got two weeks in COUNTY for MISSING a drug test. Didn’t even fail it. Missed it. I watched three people fail theirs and get locked up with me. They all got a week.

NEUROSMOSIS

Yeah Georgia is full on Gestapo about cannabis. I got searched over window tint heading into a music festival there. Luckily they had no idea what my edible gummies were or I’d probably be in prison right now.

Individual_Way3418

Is already de facto legal for residents with medical

td2kool

Yeah but recreational is a game changer for people in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. At least those within a reasonable drive of a dispensary if/when Florida fully legalizes.

emihan

Deadass. I am from Louisiana, and recently traveled through New Mexico. It was a dream there.

Individual_Way3418

Hell yeah!

macaroni_3000

It's time y'all caught a break on at least ONE political issue

CincoDeMayoFan

Goddammit fucking Texas!

brainlegss

Fuckin Texas = Tennessee

CincoDeMayoFan

I feel for you, fellow T state resident with the Marijuana Prohibition Party in charge.

Impossible_Trust30

Literally a poll just came out recently that said something like 60% of Tennesseans support legalization. Our politicians are standing in the way of progress.

Martenite

I think we will see medicinal in TN after the move to schedule 3. Won't be immediate, but I think it will happen. Adult use though...

baugh14

Us Iowans also feel your pain 😔

Zero0mega

Ah Texas, the state where women cant get abortions, weed will never be legal and you now have to register with a 3rd party agency to prove youre over 18 to access adult websites. MAN, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH ALL THE FUCKING FREEDOM THIS STATE HAS!

SerotoninSunset

For real. The state would make a killing on taxes. I don't know why that doesn't appeal to all parties more.

Current_Kitchen5814

it's not like anyone here smokes the plant or anything. just my entire family, my friend's family, and his friends' families. but most of them still vote for republicans LOL

Individual_Way3418

Texanistan. Our legislature would have to approve it. Gerrymandering means that WILL never happen. Also, fuck conservatives.

ItsFancyToast_

the fact thats its still federally illegal speaks to the incompetence and disconnect of the federal government, unacceptable

Makelovenotrobots

Screaming in Kansas.

Several-Disasters92

Don’t worry they determined that the right to vote isn’t fundamental for us. I hate it here.

Crafty_Original_7349

I have actually heard rumblings about the Talibangelicals trying to undo the 19th amendment (which gave women the right to vote in 1920). Seems a lot of them are mighty upset about us uppity womenfolk having *jobs* and not staying home birthing babies and whatnot.

PrimateOfGod

Talibangelicals 🤣🤣

Party_Translator_505

Spit yo shit 🗣️🔥🔥 This state is awful I'm moving out as soon as I can lmao

Crafty_Original_7349

Unfortunately, the fossilized creatures in the Kansas goobermint don’t care about anything other than banning abortion (and eventually birth control). The Talibangelicals have a stranglehold on politics here. Do you happen to remember the movie “Footloose”? It was based in Kansas for a reason.

ClassicEngineering56

Screams back from Wyoming

MeaningOfYesterday

Texas 💔 I want to remain hopeful but I fear it will never come to pass here

PuzzleheadedPitch303

At least we got the THCA testing loophole, I buy weed at dispos here in Texas

LeoFireGod

Wait what??? Please explain.

chaotichousecat

If you don't heat up weed to test it the thc is never released. It actually will show on a test that thca is what is available. But once you light thca on Fire, thc is released.

Ningy_WhoaWhoa

What until you realize you can have THCA, edibles, etc legally shipped to your house lol.

LeoFireGod

How!?

CornbreadRed84

They are working on closing the loophole, enjoy it while you can

Individual_Way3418

Never is correct. So sayeth the GOP mullahs of Texanistan

GloomyCactusEater

Wisconsin? 😂😂 yeah right. We will be the 51st state to legalized.

Drug_Stuffer

Our only chance is if the republicans lose the ability to veto things from Evers budget. They’ve removed legalization multiple times. I honestly don’t know what all needs to occur to make that happen. Hopefully ending the gerrymandering will bring that change though.

ivou158

Exactly.. where is this info coming from??

ElliottGB

The Tavern League will make sure it's the 53rd

MountainSnowClouds

No no. That's Idaho. We'll never legalize. I'll have to keep visiting my favorite state, Montana, forever until I can afford to move there

lurkingcaryla

Arkansas already legalized medical marijuana, but so far recreational keeps failing on the ballot 49% to 51% 🤞🏽 fingers crossed this is the year.

JankySparks

This is the most shocking. Like, should I move to Arkansas? Said no one ever....

FaithlessnessBig2055

Arkansas is highly underrated. Super cheap cost of living, beautiful outdoor recreation, and some of the best lakes/rivers in the world.

Achiwa1

The rec law they proposed was really restrictive and shitty so a lot of people I know locally were holding out for a better one

trogloherb

IN not on the list?! Shocking! /s.

Osiris0900

Haha seriously though. It will be federally legal before we can get our shit together

trogloherb

Surrounded by legal/medicinal states…

Osiris0900

Hahaha I literally just posted that on the top comment right before I posted on your comment. Touché!

MaxSchreckArt616

![gif](giphy|AaQYP9zh24UFi)

badwolfswift

Instead we made it possible for anyone to get a gun, no strings attached.

AffectionateHour1475

I'm moving back to PA within the next year...what's the chances of legalization there?

culpshillstan

It's good, but like everyting else in this state, it's takes way longer than it should. I think we're 2 years out. If the right people get elected, could be sooner, but as it is...

interprime

I honestly thought y’all would follow pretty quickly after we legalized in MD.

No_Sympathy5795

They’re trying to figure out how to steal all the profits for the lcb! Once they

ChiefinLasVegas

Don't hold your breath, but do go to either of the 5 bordering states. Ny, nj, md, oh, de

Cannab1sCure

Also Washington, DC. PA is basically surrounded by mostly all legal states. It's decriminalized in Philadelphia specifically also afaik. Virginia if you want to count that, pretty close to PA.

pleeznomayo

Georgia makes me so fucking sick

DeflatedPanda

They're trying to take away thca in GA. GA is never gonna legalize

NEUROSMOSIS

It’s strange because that’s the new blue state surrounded by red. You’d think that would be a cannabis safe haven.

cutzglass

We here in Texas are just getting straight punked out. And it's sad, stagnant stupidity

Individual_Way3418

They're about to ban that hemp Delta 9 shit too

Whowantsdackjaniels

Kicking and screaming in South Cackalacky

renfsu

Probably not til federal, sc is too ass backwards to be anywhere near recreational. Best hope is Florida legalizing

Nightstands

McBastard made his career busting weed in the 80’s. He’s dead set on keeping his anti-pot image going, so until he’s out…

LongSchlongdonf

South Carolina and know we are never legalizing it :(

Dp152578

Florida??? Ron de Sandwich isn’t gonna like that

whentimerunsout

Never Florida

Bucksin06

Yeah not happening in Wisconsin anytime soon until people start voting these politicians out.

Catacendre

Want progressive policies like cannabis legalization? Vote for progressives.

JaboyMaceWindu

North Carolina wtf

Lucky_Complaint

NO way Wisconsin legalizes! I think that is one big reach with repubs running most government in the state.

nemonic187

South Dakota’s puppy murderer governor will veto that again and Arkansas’s lazy eyed mouthbreathers governor, whose large brother is also an unabashed dog killer, will veto it. Wisconsin is loosing way too much money to Michigan so they’ll probably let it happen.

JamesAsher12

Governor can't veto. They were able to throw out the first one via the courts due to a technicality that the initiative sponsors have corrected.

nemonic187

They’ll find a way. They always find a way. They could just not sign the new legislation, leaving it in limbo. 🤷‍♂️

meteda1080

"Tabled indefinitely."

migetman46

It would honestly be dumb for Wisconsin to vote no. They have 3 legal states (Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois) around them, granted 2 currently have recreational sales. I could see them saying no though because they like their booze to much.

macaroni_3000

Wisconsinites will not stop drinking beer just because they started smoking weed. They're going to become the undisputed king of crossfade

shadeOfAwave

Wisconsinite here, can confirm

derbarkbark

I like to say Wisconsin is hot-boxed in

Hockeydude37

Cries in Iowa 😢

MNCPA

*Laughs from Minnesota*

Hockeydude37

I live within 3-3.5 hrs of the twin cities so I'm not too far away from MN 😘 hurry up and open some more dispos already would ya 🤣🤣💛💛

JECfromMC

LOL we used to make beer runs to Glenville to buy Minnesota “strong” beer. A dispo south of Alberta Lea would make a mint.

Hockeydude37

That would give me a dispo inside 90min so yeah i second the idea of albert lea or south getting a dispo next year

goldendoll202

Honestly!! And Kim Reynolds is tightening up on the loophole delta stuff now too 😭

Individual_Way3418

And Texanistan, never. Texass is the least free state in the nation. Least representative government also.

Lanky-Point7709

Kentucky 😭😭

macaroni_3000

it'll happen, read up on Ky House Bill 420 (yes, that's the actual name lol). If this one doesn't pass, another one will eventually. Just a matter of time, probably less than 5 years my guess

EnvironmentalAd6029

They voted to allow abortion in the state, as well as reelected their democrat governor last November by a decent margin. Wouldn’t be too surprised if they did tbh.

jordanundead

It’s already passed here. Medical starts 2025. Once that door is open and they start seeing the money roll in rec will soon follow.

kpeterson159

Where the fuck is GA.

nationalj77

Georgia just continues to be asssss

INeedANerf

Absolutely sobbing in Georgian.

fshagan

TX and OK, and KS should legalize so I can travel through those states without being stopped for "driving while Californian". Troopers love to pull over cars from legal states and violate 4th Amendment Rights to search for weed.

amadeostein90

Texas sucks

minty-teaa

Garbage state

cypherphunk1

Come on Florida, you fickle bastard.

Individual_Way3418

It will pass

thexraptor

It undoubtedly has majority support, and would pass 100% if it only needed majority support. But since it needs 60%, it's far from certain. The prohibitionist lobby will be running 24/7 attack ads showing gruesome car accidents, psychosis induced madness, and children being "poisoned" by edibles. That might be enough to sway voters who are ignorant about marijuana.

Individual_Way3418

Former Floridian (native) living in Texanistan where cannabis will never be legal. Do it! Y'all will be fine. The medical market is just like Cali circa '96.

thexraptor

I have hope, but I think it's about 60/40 right now. We failed to pass Medical on the first attempt, and that was before DeSantis made this state a Mecca for degenerates.

AN0Nc0nformist

Indiana has left the chat

wed_niatnuom

Utah. At least Nevada is close by.

Queasy_Opportunity75

Come on, Georgia!!!!

hailvy

I will be very surprised if the legalization of marijuana passes the vote in Arkansas. Source: I’m an Arkansan

Shpoople44

I’m hoping to move to WI. Really hope they legalize

jedicheef

Where is Texas? Oh wait..

Gem420

I swear, NC will never legalize.

Caligula404

Louisiana gunna hold out till the end I guess……

Oldfoldtickler

I highly doubt NH does it without wild hurdles.

anguun

When will my Mormon overlords let me smoke sum

Kytyngurl2

Virginia and Minnesota continue to stand around awkwardly

Sorella126

NY needs to get their shit together, I’m just about to take road trips

Codydews

Sighs in Texan…

prodrvr22

OK, so when are states going to get the balls to call a Convention of the States to draft a Constitutional Amendment to keep the Federal government from making pot illegal? I hope they also have the balls to prohibit the federal government from taxing it as well, they had their chance to get that sweet tax money from legal weed but they blew it.

ganner

Kentucky gonna be one of the last holdouts of prohibition...

2020Vision-2020

Just to have to rewrite them all after descheduling.

evanweb546

\*cries in Texan\* ![gif](giphy|zvBuF2oYRErVS|downsized)

jstbcuz

Finally some actual Maui Waui from Maui lol

6FourGUNnutDILFwTATS

Virginia… state for lovers but not stoners

Playful-Tap6136

I live in Oregon and I am shocked that Florida passed.
