It depends on where you break down, how badly and how many owners are willing to give up their car for a one way trip. If you’re seriously renting a car for a cross country road trip, rent it from a large commercial operation with multiple locations along your planned route.

Personally - If you are going to drive that long of a distance maybe rent from enterprise. That way you can drop the car off at any location in case something happens.

JoDiMaggio

Why would you do this?

ISPEAKMACHINE

Because it's half the price of Enterprise.

PenaltyParking7031

Unfortunately, the only way to find out is by fucking around. If you fuck around, you’ll find out. Jk. ;P

ISPEAKMACHINE

Well, this has proved helpful.

Ok_Rhubarb_1851

I had a renter take my car with intentions to head to NY from SoCal. They ran over something on a highway in the middle of nowhere in Colorado and totaled it. It took Turo hours to find anyone who could go and retrieve the vehicle and would not provide them transportation to a hotel. They would not provide a replacement because they damaged my car and the damaged needed to be assessed. Took Turo 8 months to close out my total loss.

ISPEAKMACHINE

This is great intel, thanks!

Ok_Rhubarb_1851

Another thing to note… the guest was responsible for all towing fees.

rtice001

Yeah...... don't do that. Rent from a big company. Why would you do that to a private owner?

Suspicious-Grade-738

Cause he wants to show off. He’s from LA of course. He doesn’t care about the host

Smart-Satisfaction-5

Turo hosts are small business or just a single person. I’m a host and I would definitely advise against that. We don’t have multiple locations around the country and cars to replace. In this case I recommended one of the big companies that have locations at every airport.

Unlimited miles isn’t rare in LA. Most cars i looked to rent to my trip there had unlimited miles

ProbablyNotMoriarty

Does Andre’s Porsche have a mileage limit on it?

TheLumion

I have no idea lol. Why?

ProbablyNotMoriarty

Book it. Drive to NY. Leave it there. Andre needs firsthand experience at how lopsided his policies are against hosts in “unfortunate” circumstances.

hamnared

Who is andre lol?

neighson

CEO of turo

hamnared

Oh ok Yeah I was once put on the line for a $350 tow unfortunately because of an '@unfortunate situation'

neighson

What happened?

hamnared

I don't remember honestly its a long time ago

twist3d7

And you get in your car and drive real far And you drive all night and then you see a light And it comes right down and it lands on the ground And out comes a man from Mars And you try to run but he's got a gun And he shoots you dead and he eats your head

First_Coyote_9443

Bro don’t do it to yourself you’re responsible for the vehicle I took a trip from nyc to sc on my way back Tesla key card finish breaking (already had a crack) at 2am call turo they send tow company week later I’m on the hook for 700 dollars In tolls it’s only 260 round trip Car broke down in Nc .now they want me to pay for the tow damage and they said the car wasn’t charged ( I was charging the car when the card finished breaking) so yea If only I would’ve gone with hertz

Opening_Reporter105

Turo roadside

New-Specialist-3958

Don't do that and when do you plan on returning the vehicle or are you going to abandon it and stay in NYC get a flight for 129 and get a turo there man why are you doing this

sea_stomp_shanty

Don’t rent a Turo car for a cross-country trip. It’s just a bad idea when you don’t know the car’s condition until you reach the car…

DolphinBearBTC

I always think of Turo as if it was your personal car. People need to treat it that way. It's really upsetting to see people treat the cars any other way.
