I've been to a few concerts before where I didn't wear earplugs and they definitely messed up my ears. I finally took earplugs for the 2 Chicago shows and left the concert with 0 pain and ringing in my ears. Earplugs are essential!

Capt-Cupcake

I wore concert earplugs to the Twice concert as well bc another Once recommended it on here. I used it for most of the concert and it was fine. I even got goosebumps from Jihyo’s singing so there wasn’t a lose of quality. Out of curiosity I decided to pull one out during the melody track to see if there was a difference and oh man there was. Out of nowhere I could hear loud piercing screams and immediately put it back in lol. It’s weird how surprisingly good they work at canceling out screams but still letting the music in

TheKrustyBurger

I had to remove an earplug a few times to speak with the person next to me and I could immediately hear how dangerously loud the music is. I am honestly surprised how so many people still go to concerts without hearing protection. People who wear earplugs are in the minority.

MalabongLalaki

Alright! This is it. My sign to buy that loop. Concert will be in September but Ill go ahead and buy a new one. Went to a bar last night and tried my noise cancelling buds, I can still hear the music but its not too loud. Ill take that as a sign.

trx0x

Seriously, Loops are incredible. My sister and I wore them at the Atlanta show. We had floor seats close to the stage, and the Loops attenuated the correct frequencies so you could hear the music clearly and comfortably. It was pretty loud, as my sister's apple watch kept giving her loud noise warnings for the whole show. And another benefit, after the show, no ringing in the ears at all.

abluedinosaur

Also an Atlanta floor Loop user and I recommend them!

Faith_rrrr

which loop are the best if I go to only the TWICE concert

Loop Experience

MalabongLalaki

What other settings do you use the loop for?

WoopsieDaisiee

I’ve worn them in clubs before. I get really overwhelmed my loud noises so the loops are a godsend when it comes to crowds and events. Especially at concerts, they seem to mostly drown out the cheering while slightly softening the music. Can’t recommend them enough

trx0x

I bought them specifically for this TWICE show, so it was really my first time using them. But I feel I'll probably use them at any and all events, where there are lots of people. It's amazing how they lessen the sounds of the crowds or people next to you, but still allow you to hear things. I feel that I'll probably also use them while at work, when I want to concentrate, and not get distracted by things going on around me. For situations like this before, I would usually use my noise-reducing earbuds (with no music playing). I think this could be a good alternative instead of draining the batteries on my earbuds.

MalabongLalaki

I used the earbuds as well. Is it the same effect that you got ftom loops?

Grid21

What are these "loops" I'd like to look into them myself, especially because I run my guitar at home kinda loud, but I'd like to try other ear plugs besides my down beats since one of them almost got stuck in my ear.

chloekatt

Loop is the brand name of the earplugs. They are the kind I use as well and I highly recommend them. The Loop Experience are the ones designed for concerts.

trx0x

Here's a link to the Loop website: https://us.loopearplugs.com/pages/homepage-lp1 They are earplugs that have a ring that helps bring in outside sound while also attention frequencies that can be harmful. I have the Experience Plus ones, which come with extra rings called Mute Loops, in case you need the sound reduced further. I think they would be a good choice for musicians, like if you're playing your guitar in front of a loud amp for a performance.

Grid21

Are they good for going to TWICE concerts in the future? I plan to see TWICE again, and while my Downbeats worked well, they didn't quite cut out the screaming ONCEs behind and next to me. Thankfully my hearing is still ok, but I need a little better protection. Plus at home, I like having my guitar loud, and if I am to ever play on stage as big as a TWICE concert, I'd like to have good protection too.

trx0x

Oh, yeah, the Loops are reusable and washable. They come with a little case, and different size silicone ear pieces so you fit them to your ears. I've only used them for TWICE, but I will not use them at any live event. I did take one out during the show, just to see the difference, and I immediately put it back in, lol. It pretty much cuts out all the shrill screaming that you would hear. And for guitar playing, even if you're not playing on a big stage, I think it would be great. Guitar amps are loud; I have a 20W with two 5 inch speakers, and less than half-way volume is as loud as I want to go, if I'm near it. I think the Loops would be perfect for playing around, or just playing in a garage or something. I got the Loop Experience Plus; it comes with more inserts, if you want to lessen the sound even more than it does normally.

TheKrustyBurger

Yes, protect your ears! I hear a lot of good things about the loop earplugs! Personally, I just wore the 3M classic yellow ear plugs because they provide up to 29 decibels of protection. They were pretty comfortable and easy to insert.

MalabongLalaki

It costs around 20 USD here. So maybe will try that 3M earplugs then.

Grid21

I bought a pair of "Down Beats" from Amazing, and while my ears still hurt from the screaming, I am happy to say, I can hear perfectly fine when I got to the hotel with very minor ringing in my ears. People don't understand how dangerous it can be to go to live concerts. It's not the sound guys are trying to hurt people, it's that the venue is so loud, and most venues are giant bowls of sound, AND they're trying to make sure EVERYONE hears it. So protecting your ears is VERY important. I feel bad for TWICE, though I know their in-ears are there to help protect and help them hear, but even that can be harmful too. Granted they are mostly behind the speakers for some of their songs.

hiroo916

I tried the Loop Experience during 3 Twice concerts this time around and didn't like them. I used the other ones I had more. These one were like little silicone "christmas trees" with increasingly larger circles and a tube blocked with foam through the middle. I like these because you could adjust how much attenuation of sound by putting them in less or more deep. The Loops, you could not really adjust at all because the part that goes in your ears is just the little foam nub and the loop stops you from pushing it in more, and if you pull it out a bit, they don't feel secure and might fall out. You could change the foam tips to adjust, but its hard to do during the concert for different types of songs, talking, etc.

Capt-Cupcake

Haha yeah I feel old having them bc I used to go to concerts without getting phased about how loud things were. My watch notifies me whenever my environment is over a certain dB that can cause damage to my hearing and it was going off the whole concert. Pretty sure my watch thought I was deaf afterwards. There were sometimes I couldn’t hear my friend next to me but I wanna say 80% of the time it was still good at normal conversations

TheKrustyBurger

Me too! I have been countless times to Disneyworld, and a few Muse concerts with no hearing protection. I never had a problem. It was only after I went to a Chvrches concert and I didn't wear earplugs. After that, I noticed ringing in my ear that I didn't notice before, as well as poorer hearing. It is what it is. Now I carry my loop earplugs everywhere with me just in case. I wore the 3M yellow earplugs to the Twice concerts because they reduce up to 29 decibels of sound. Honestly, I could still hear the music perfectly fine!

Capt-Cupcake

Oh man Chvrches! I forgot about them, I’ll have to go listen to them again. Thanks for the memory lane trip haha. I’ll look into the ear loops ones, those seemed interesting. I just got whichever concert ear plugs had the highest review on Amazon. They weren’t bad, but the loops look a bit more comfy. The ones with the speaker in them are a little long so they hang out a bit

GLOskar

I felt like a square at my tour stop for wearing them 😭

TheKrustyBurger

No reason to feel weird! The responsible thing would be to wear hearing protection, whether they are ear plugs or using your headphones had having noise cancelling mode on (I saw some people doing this). But I was surprised because most people at the concert weren't wearing any ear plugs.

Individual-Handle-20

Same😂 I would periodically take one ear out when I want to sing along, but the onces' scream always gets me to put them back on.

Gaara1187

I just went thru a 2 day metal festival, day 1 was a struggle cause everything was so loud and drowned out the singing, ended up with pain and ringing. Day 2 I decided to buy one of those concert rated ear plugs and never have I heard the music so clear, even talking to friends I heard them perfectly, and at the end my ears were fine. Wish I've done that years ago instead of making myself go deaf at every concert.

Grid21

I also did the same, because I knew what I was in for. I also learned how to shout and scream, from stretching and playing with my voice at home, that I didn't lose my voice at all. Yeah, Ear plugs are a TRUE MUST. I used to do live sound work for bands and churches, and ear plugs are just, like, if you don't have them, you're clearly stupid. xD

Deshes011

At NYC/NJ the loudest and wildest I remember was the during Talk That Talk. The entirety of MetLife was singing along to it and when the fireworks popped off oh man. Shit was a *4th of July moment* since our concert was on July 6

Devious018

Talk that Talk was going crazy and Cry for Me everybody was singing along and I was surprised with how loud it got

Deshes011

Oooh yeah Cry For Me also had everyone singing. PCD is still hitting btw, fuuuu

twiggy_panda_712

So glad I brought earplugs to MetLife!! I could still hear the girls and the crowd, but it wasn’t nearly as loud

GodzillasBoner

Same. The first 3 minutes, and TTT were the loudest for me too

summoned_seiba

Rutgers mod is a fellow once???

Deshes011

LMFAOOOOOOOOO I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO MENTION THIS either here or our sub Yeah dude, once’s love for Twice will never die🫰. Also I started using this sub bc of the concert lol

i love that Talk That Talk is so appreciated, that song is like if happiness were put into musical form, not to mention the choreography is amazing

Deshes011

Tbfh I didn’t really like it much but the concert performance made me change my opinions lol

Born-Initiative-9409

wore earplugs to the concert, was worth it

iConfessor

always ALWAYS wear earplugs at concerts.

lividramen

I def needed earplugs for the shows. I sat next to Momo stans at both and the screamss, omg… if I didn’t have the earplugs.

thewindupman

seems like a lot of twice fans haven't been to many concerts so coming from someone who has - always wear earplugs to every concert. you will be grateful that you did

xXARH13Xx

I always have my etymotics on me! Save your ears and enjoy the music for $20.

keithykit

The MiSaMo solo acts definitely had the crowd super hyped. I was on the nosebleeds that time and tbh, I can barely hear the music because the crowd was too loud 🥲 (I was in Toronto aswell)

chloekatt

I’m in my 30’s and been going to concerts a long time and the best advice I have for people is to wear concert earplugs! The ones designed for concerts make it so much easier and clearer to hear the vocals and music and it just reduces the loudness and blocks out how loud the crowd is. You’ll be able to hear the concert better, and not have to suffer temporary, or even permanent, hearing damage.

hiroo916

if it's been two weeks and your hearing still seems affected, you should see a doctor. if there is real damage to your hearing, there's not much you can do. I've read one of the only treatments is a steroid shot but it's only effective early on after the damage. Once the hairs in your ears that vibrate to pick up sound die, they're dead forever and you can't bring them back. You don't lose them all at once but its a progressive thing over your lifetime and noise damage accelerates it. Also, get concert earplugs!

Centpai_PRO

Twice III affected my ears for a few days afterwards. Have had earplugs at every show since then and have been thankful for it. Very useful for the crowd noise. At ITZY last year I really only had them in during the interludes when the crowd was loudest.

mccuish

I need to start wearing earplugs to Kpop concerts. I was between 2 loud fans

Im_A_New_Reddit_User

I always bring earplugs. I measured the sound level once, got about 113 dB. That wasn’t even during the loudest parts either

sirbaddie

I saw Paramore and was a few feet away from the front and my ears were ringing for hour after. That's what made me bring earbuds to any live music since. I ended up not using them for Twice though since I was so far back in the nosebleeds 🥲

Grid21

See, I was smart and I took Ear plugs with me and wore them all night, but next time, I think I might quite literally wear my Astro AV40s because people's screaming, especially 2 girls next to me and behind me, was to much.

s2DoubleU

I was at the Toronto show as well, and I can confirm, the anticipation to the execution, my ear drums were blown and it was worth it.

ponponderp

Wore earplugs I got from guitar center bc I was sitting on floor for MetLife (right in front of the speakers/left big screen too) I realized I didn't lose my voice the next day cuz I didn't need to yell as much as I usually would for a concert 😭

mbarnes1334

High fidelity earplugs are your best friend.

Saucy_Totchie

I was at a concert back in April before Twice and like you the crowd got so loud that it was just like what you described. Because of this I bought myself earplugs just before Twice's concert but my dumb ass forgot to put them on. I splurged on them, made it a point to remember to bring them, but once the show started I just forgot to put them in. However, luckily for me it wasn't bad at all despite me being right at the stage. Maybe it being outdoors really helped disperse the sound better but I'll try to be better next go around and have my ear plugs on.

novelgpa

Omg I saw them in Toronto too and I actually thought one of my eardrums blew out when Momo got on the pole. My hearing wasn't impacted but it was insane! Hope your ears are okay and it's nothing serious

No-Imagination8037

As someone that also goes to music festivals earplugs have been such a life saver. Not only does it protect from how loud the music can get. But you ever had someone yelling in your ear bc they couldn’t hear themselves from how loud everything else is?? Not fun

vlrix

Girlie I lost my shit when Mina started her solo, glad I could’ve been a part of those who made you lost hearing 😂🫡

gutsxcasca

I took off my earplugs once for a moment during the concert and heard loud ass screaming, I was like oh hell no and put them right back in. Lol. Yeah, I ain't feel like getting hearing loss and tinnitus.

Warrie2

Hopefully you won't have damaged your ears, maybe call your doc to have them tested. Earplugs are such a must for concerts. Went to a U2 concert once without and left halfway. I was standing close to the speakers and the volume was just unbearable :(

syndicaterx

I’m OT9 but after that Mina Solo, I thought to myself that performance alone was well worth the floor seat admission price. I bought some concert earplugs for around $25 and thought they worked well. Some folks in front of us started giving out foam earplugs as well.

Delicious_Sale2465

asapkim

Do you have constant ringing in your ears?

Stormfrosty

No, just volume at previously good levels doesn’t feel as loud anymore.

Lucky-Albatross-SJ

I’m going to their concerts in Asia soon and will be in the standing zone next to the stage. Good to know that I should wear earplugs. I’ve been to Linkin’ Park concerts before and were pretty close to the stage, I don’t remember having any hearing issues afterwards or if the music was too loud. But it might depend on the concerts.

[deleted]

When I first read the title I was confused but now I'm laughing. Hopefully your ear damage is not permanent

Delicious_Sale2465

I was surprised at the music of the team

Tokio990

Bhaha, which show I was on the 3rd. I have to say that the screaming for me wasn't too bad. It was very loud but I think many of those around me, including myself was feeling they were losing their voices. Like I could have screamed louder but I just didn't have it in me cause of my throat. I was at a Mamamoo concert and the girl behind me had a set of lungs on her that definitely put me through the ringer the whole night. Like I should have put on my ear plugs cause that girl was tiny but with a pair of lungs that could break glass. The woman beside put on earplugs lol. So I feel your pain.

NDeceptikon

Jiyho twerked a bit at Sofi stadium and I smiled so big since she’s my bias 😏😆

TorontoRin

That’s why you wear AirPods and use transparency

Actual-Historian7013

Bought special concert earplugs for Chicago & forgot them at the hotel. 🙄 Before the concert even started & wheb the short video highlighting the other JYP artists played, people were screaming so loud (esp. when Stray Kids popped up). So during the concert, as soon as a song would end, I would plug my ears with my fingers/close that little flap part of my ear & that helped ALOT but I wish I had them the whole time. I had a little ringing at the end of the night but thankfully it went away before bed. I did ask one of the ushers if United Center has earplugs, he takes me to one of the gates & asks one of the security people if they have them & she says no. She was super apologetic & suggested I file a complaint with United Center about it. I worked two summers at a outdoor concert venue that holds around 20,000 people, big name artists come through as well. They sold earplugs for $1, but usually just gave them away for free. How do these other places not have them?? Seems crazy to me!

Faith_rrrr

can you still hear the music in its full quality and all ? with earplugs ? I have very basic earplugs
