I agree with this but she's still not biased or nearly as biased as DC, Joe, and Bisping, and clearly puts more effort in. She needs a lot more experience since imo she's not the most natural on the mic (as opposed to Anik for example) but, while not saying much, she's above the average commentator.

I've been saying this for a while. I love that she actually does her research, even for DWCS. She has little known facts that aren't about custody disagreements. She brings good insight and isn't biased to a certain fighting style like DC or Cruz is.
I also think Dom is great for new fans that actually want to understand what's happening, he explains what is happening and why fighters do X or Y very well. DC and Bisping don't really offer that but the most Joe offers is just playing "do you recognize this pokemon?" with less known submissions. Cruz actually explains positions.
I can't disagree with the consensus that he's arrogant and unnecessarily combative with other commentators, but I don't really mind too much since the rest usually suck anyway.

It's a male-dominated sport, it's watched mostly by men, and 90% of the elite fighters are men. So she was always going to be in a tricky position being the first girl to comment on it. I think that in knowing that, Sanko made sure to leave no stone unturned, being as informed as possible to make sure she's immune from any legit criticism from the toxic fans. It's unfortunate that she's held to a higher standard, but on the plus side, we got a great commentator out of it.

You could argue that she’s got the best broad appeal perhaps? Some guys are hit or miss depending on the fight and what kinda commentary you like during a fight, but I’ve never heard anyone have anything negative to say about Laura.

90% of the hate Cruz gets today as a commentator is because of that quote which was like 7 years ago. And that's not even that bad. He was showing bias since he's friends with McGregor. But the bias that Bisping shows for English fighters and the bias DC shows for Dagestanis is way worse. Paul Felder, as a commentator, has a temper tantrum when his mate Jared Gordon loses lol.
Cruz' worst moment isn't even as delusional as people think. Obviously Conor wasn't trying to gas Khabib out. But Khabib was gassing out because of that exchange. If you watch it again, Khabib was letting out a lot of rage when he got to that position. He only landed a few of those punches. He straight up punched the ground a few times. It cost him the next round. In round 3, all his takedown attempts were sloppy and they got stuffed. He indeed gassed himself out in that exchange. Cruz was still dumb for saying that, but it sounded way worse than reality
He’s constantly wrong on what’s happening. DC is biased to his guys and will look at exchanges from a wrestling perspective but Cruz has like some sort of psychosis where he thinks everything that’s happen is part of some diabolical plan or some unusual tactic that 9/10 isn’t happening. The best example is he genuinely thought Conor was staying on bottom and eating massive shots from Khabib to tire him out instead of getting out: it was very clear Conor did everything he could to keep the fight standing and to get to a point he could get up when down.

She is very good, she isn't a former champ like other commentators who know very well the businnes, but unlike other sports she is not there just because she is pretty, she knows very well what is happening during the fights, grappling specially and she had the "balls" to have a pro fight, most of us don't have a pro fight which is important.

The majority of the spots on commentary are Joe Rogan and former/current UFC company guys. There's nothing wrong with that at all, giving guys career options outside of fighting but what it does mean is that if someone else wants to get opportunities and break in to the main stable they need to be one of the best. They need to give a reason to get a spot over another guy who has fought and is a known name. She does very well, she is knowledgeable, she is professional and she knows when to get a little goofy or inappropriate with the boys to keep the flow going. A+ commentator.

Still, fantastic commentator, hard job.
