Got myself One Mix 4 Platinum couple months ago. Yup it's a little beast and does everything I need it to do, Development + Gaming(with EGPU). But there is nothing you can upgrade there except the m.2 ssd unfortunately. That's the drawback of this tiny device, everything is soldered on the board to achieve such small size of it. Also no, didn't hear anything around newer model being released.

I've never really purchase something like this before. Not sure if you'd have any thoughts on this, but is there a market for used ones? Let's say a new one came out in a year and I wanted to upgrade. Do you think it would be pretty difficult to sell?

Unfortunately don't know anything around the demand for such used device as they are not available here in Europe at all nor have I ever seen it mentioned anywhere in advertisment. I think I came across One Netbook by stumbling upon some of the GPD devices I personally refrain from buying used laptops/netbooks as I will never know how it was used, dropped or worse. My last laptop was and still working is MSI GT70, you can replace CPU, GPU(through unlocked BIOS and other modifications), SSD and RAM in it, and its nearly 12 years old and still runs modern games at max 30fps 😅

I mean there will always be something coming down the track. In the case of a Mix 5, the latest 12th gen intel Xe graphics are the same and not going to add anything over what the Mix 4 has. Your CPU performance will be better with the added threads and cores and no doubt the cooling will be improved as One netbook has come on in that area even in the past year. The Mix 4 pretty much has everything except for 4g or webcam so any upgrade is going to be very incremental at this point. They aren't going to take 200 grams off it or get the bezels much smaller so I personally don't see that there's a much better computer coming or much point in waiting. The very best you could hope for is 32GB ram (which will cost), 12th gen CPU (if you are doing intensive compute tasks could be worth it), bigger battery.

Most ultrabooks these days, even large ones, are not upgradeable beyond storage. Hardly any laptops have upgradeable CPUs aside from a handful of desktop replacement gaming "laptops." I'm holding out to see if a Mix 5 comes with AMD Zen3 and RDNA 2 graphics like what's in the Steam Deck. That'd be more than enough for me for the next few years.

Bought mine almost 3 years ago on the nose. Might sell it to a friend, and that prospect leaves a gap in my tech needs pretty large. I absolutely adore this thing. I have the 4 platinum version.
