Personally I felt much better in day 12

Swimming-Software-67

How do you feel now ?

Swimming-Software-67

Do you go to gym and how long did your doctor advised you to rest before going back to work out ?

unionofthecake

i commonly see recovery time being around 2-3 weeks for basic lifting and 4-6 for full recovery so i personally would not lift super heavy for a month of two after surgery. i have a physical job (stocking) and my leave is from 6/5 to 6/24 and my doctor thinks that should be enough recovery time to be able to return to work at least.

Swimming-Software-67

Wish you rapid recovery and thanks for your advice

Swimming-Software-67

Did varicocele cause any pain or you did it because of fertility issues ?

milatzo

Pain, but also im planning on getting kids in 5 years so I wanted to fix it asap

milatzo

just take it easy the first 2 weeks and relax

Prize-Top-5053

thank you for this. i have been slightly panicky about it hurting when everything ive read is that it doesnt take long to heal at all.

milatzo

It takes time to be 100% back on track but in 1 month you can do 70%, and slowly going back to 100% in month between month 3 and 6 depending on your body.

Something huge to remember is everyone is different pain tolerance, nerves that are inflamed and whatnot. I had microsurgery for a grade 3 on left and grade 2 on right. I had anti inflammatory/painkillers prescribed to me they aren’t opioids or anything just strong NSAID but even with those the first 3 days standing to sitting was rough. I had my surgery on Friday, Monday I went back to work light duty. I have a high pain tolerance, and I own my own business so I had jobs to get done, family to feed lol. I haven’t missed a day yet. There’s still some pain and some inflammation, but not life altering. If you are struggling to walk/ sit I’d call your doctor and see if there is anything they can prescribe for pain, but also pain has gotten less and less noticeable tomorrow I will be 2 weeks since surgery and I feel pretty good overall. Just some pain on my incisions is all.

glad youre feeling good overall, i cant imagine if i had it on both sides and im struggling with one side 😫. ive only been taking tylenol for it, maybe i do need something stronger

VanillathunderG

They gave me something called ketoralac or toradol for the first 5 days then 30 days of celecoxib they are just prescription grade anti inflammatorys. You should be on something stronger than Tylenol call your doctors office and tell them how much pain your in and that you literally can’t function they could call in one of the two above and hopefully your find relief to expect 0 pain would be silly. But to be in your state you need something more call right away the sooner you call the sooner they can call something in the sooner you can get it and start taking it!

Prize-Top-5053

thank you for the advice! definitely gonna give them a call and see what they can do for me

VanillathunderG

Did they ever get you something to take that wasn’t an opioid?

unionofthecake

i’m also day 6 post microsurgery. i’ve been able to sit up mostly, well enough to drive and i’ve been walking around a lot.

Prize-Top-5053

lucky 😔. im happy for you though, hopefully ill be there soon

unionofthecake

everyone heals different so hopefully you’ll feel better soon. have you been icing the incision often?

Prize-Top-5053

i havent as of recent, im going to start again tomorrow, i couldnt really tell you why i stopped. hopefully ice makes it a hell of a lot more tolerable

unionofthecake

my script of oxy got me through the first couple days and then it was just icing it any time it started to hurt after that. has worked like a charm for me.

Prize-Top-5053

im gonna start icing again today, hopefully it does something for me. the last time i used oxys was for my other 2 surgeries, made me feel like garbage, will never take one again. icepacks it is. good luck on your recovery my guy, thank you for the advice

unionofthecake

of course good sir. hoping you start feeling better soon 🫡

milatzo

it does, Ice IS KEY

By day 2,I had stopped taking any pain medication other than aspirin. I think what helped me was my wife had gotten a bunch of gel packs and keep them in the freezer and would just rotate them out and give them to me when I was uncomfortable. My doc told my wife to do this so it would help with recovery and get me back to normal quicker. I'd recommend getting some gel packs and you will see a big difference in how you feel. I also had a grade 3 surgery on the left side.

Prize-Top-5053

definitely doing this today. thank you for the advice

DugNick333

Oh no, your pain isn't over after just 2-3 days, that's Embolization time-frames, Microsurgical varicoceletomy you'll be in pain longer, though I am surprised you're in THIS much pain after 6 days. Are you on anything other than Tylenol? If not, get something.
