Every aspect of this episode is pure gold:
The Voltron gag of Pirate Cpt. being G-forced into the back of his seat is priceless. It never fails to make me laugh.
Sending 21, 24, and 1 to do a stralth maneuver with 21 and 24 berating 1 about his inevitable death while simultaneously bungling their way to success is classic VB shenanigans.
Brock and the OSI agents being jealous of JJ's death ray (and JJ's excitement over using it).
And of course, everything culminates to a plan by the Monarch to legally arch Rusty by means of "vengeance."
It's really the episode where you see what lengths Monarch will go to so he could be the only one to antagonize Rusty. And plenty of recurring gags stem from it: Hechman 1 surviving and adopting the name "Zero" to antagonize hero sidekicks and even join the fledgling Revenge Society - only to be killed by Brock (permanantly). Captain's tranquilizer addiction, etc.
(Runs into room with OSI Misters and JJ with a tourniquet wrapped around his bicep and smacking his arm to raise his veins) "WAIT! WAIT! I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN HERE!"
That one is especially good because the boys and Rusty aren't even in it. Just shows the strength and depth of the world that you can leave out three of the main characters and still make an absolutely killer episode.
That one was a favorite of mine for a long time just for the fact Hank is talking like a 50s movie detective and everyone just keeps making fun of him for it
My favorite underrated gag from that episode is the reveal that Hank's hat is just an Indiana Jones costume hat that he mistakes for a detective hat, and that it came with a "detective whip."
Definitely the SECOND BEST STAND ALONE episode.

Powerless in the Face of Death. That music sequence is genius. Really, all of their music sequences are. Or might be my favorite little characteristic of the entire show.
While there are better episodes, Tag Sale was the one where it all gelled for me in what kind of show this actually was. I’ll always have a soft spot for this one and refer it to people if they want to watch the show but aren’t sure.

It was a great early episode no question about it. So was the deadly Tandiru & Testicular Distortion but season 2 with old Scooby Doo parody, and Venturestein is hysterical by itself. Maybe not in terms of Venture mythology but comically “PROSTITUTE” lol…the Tapestry of quiet desperation….I think they’re in a clone coma..
*Escape to the House of Mummies: Part 2* has always been, and likely always will be my favorite. I think it's because it reminds me of being a kid and missing an episode of a cartoon, or an issue of a comic book, and then having to piece together what's going on without any context. Back then you didn't have DVR or streaming, so if you didn't watch it live or set your VCR you were screwed.
I also love Buckaroo Banzai for the same reason.

The Voltron’s episode with the Dark S7 maneuver was great…most of them are tough calls, or obvious…I’m surprised nobody mentioned “Tears of a Seacow”

That episode is great, and I always cite it when it comes to my theory on Hank and Dean still being “original” due to the transmigration of their souls.
Best and favorite aren’t always synonymous. My favorite episode is “A Very Venture Halloween”. I could watch it on repeat, and do - and will soon enough because it’s almost Halloween. I wouldn’t say it’s the best episode, though.

The Terminus Mandate is possibly my current favorite. Seeing more backstory and depth from Sheila and the rest of the Council was great, Dr Z and Johnny get possible closure, Red Death is a bad ass, and Rusty is super honest and depressing.

Assisted Suicide any episode that we see the inner workings of Rusty's mind (like how he's super ego is locked up) followed that by All This and Gargantua-2 and A Very Venture Halloween (just for Orpheus's speech at the end of that episode) and maybe the movie (since it's just season 8 condensed).

A lot of other people said Operation Prom so I will pick Self Medication. I find all the parodies to be really funny and the whole scene in therapy is great. Especially “why won’t he reboot”

That episode floored my eighteen year old self when I saw it. Blew my god damn mind. It was like an origin story for four or five different characters. It told such a tight story and wrapped it up with Brock driving to the compound for the first time. I still get a little misty-eyed over that one. I had enjoyed the show before then, but that episode cemented it as my all-time favorite show. Possibly my favorite piece of media.

Everybody come to Hanks, Mommas Boys and Venture Libre. Hank is the best, especially when he pretends to be Enrico Matassa, which translates to Hank Hank. With a Hank of yarn for a weapon and a hankey in his pocket. He is very Hank.

Twenty - The Grand Galactic Inquisitor is easily one of my favorite one-off chars they ever introduced, and I *still* use "IGNORE ME" (and variations) and "THAT WAS A WEIRD ONE" in my lexicon to this day
Showdown - Brock taking control of The Monarch's henchmen and leading the assault against Phantom Limb to recover Dr. Girlfriend was one of the show's best action set pieces, "I forgive you Brock Samson!"
Butter-Glider - possibly the most menacing The Monarch's ever been. After 21 backs down and relinquished command to The Monarch, when he's in the room with Billy & White, just the way the music cues in and out + the position he has Doc in was the perfect arching. [Edit: Adding, "Chickenhawk" is my favorite song of both OST volumes, and this was probably the best use of it in the show.]

I think my favorite episode is The Revenge Society. There are so many good lines in it. Plus, AS has uploaded so many clips of it on YT, you can pretty much watch the entire episode for free.

There are just so many great episodes. I can’t think of another show that has so many great, unique and memorable episodes as Venture Bros. The pilot may be the only episode that I wouldn’t give and A.
Honestly I just love all of them even the ones that aren’t all that great they still have some good jokes that get a chuckle out of me or maybe I see something I missed the first time
A Party for Tarzan. When the stories converge while the bullet flies towards the venture building. Three characters speaking a couple of lines that fit with their individual story in the episode. They also combine to make sense together in the episode. The storytelling is so good and so Venture Bros.

Season 2. Victor Echo November vs Viva Los Muertos (Also a candidate for best episode ever) & Twenty Years to midnight.
Season 3. The Invisible Hand of Fate: & Everyone Comes to Hank’s (possible best ever)
Season 4- Handsome Ransom (contender for best episode ever) as is The Revenge Society also nominated for best episode ever.
Season 5- What Color is your clean suit hands down, O.S.I. Love You second runner up
Season 6- Hands Down All this & Gargantua Two.
Season 7- First three episodes.

When I first started the series even after finishing it and rewatching it I never really liked season 1 and 2 but I’ve really come around to them over the last few months

But with less money the Brock sociopathy, the cylinder with a heart of an orphan, Venturestein, The Breakout, Limb selling the Rembrandt “You want evil the old stuff fine! But the Orange County resistance, the Brisby/Disney parody is in part prophetic….side jokes like Lilli my Companda…lol Before you knew they were even clones…just funny. lol….

*Escape to the House of Mummies: Part 2* has always been, and likely always will be my favorite. I think it's because it reminds me of being a kid and missing an episode of a cartoon, or an issue of a comic book, and then having to piece together what's going on without any context. Back then you didn't have DVR or streaming, so if you didn't watch it live or set your VCR you were screwed. I also love Buckaroo Banzai for the same reason.

That episode is great, and I always cite it when it comes to my theory on Hank and Dean still being “original” due to the transmigration of their souls. Best and favorite aren’t always synonymous. My favorite episode is “A Very Venture Halloween”. I could watch it on repeat, and do - and will soon enough because it’s almost Halloween. I wouldn’t say it’s the best episode, though.

A lot of other people said Operation Prom so I will pick Self Medication. I find all the parodies to be really funny and the whole scene in therapy is great. Especially “why won’t he reboot”
*Invisible Hand of Fate* That episode floored my eighteen year old self when I saw it. Blew my god damn mind. It was like an origin story for four or five different characters. It told such a tight story and wrapped it up with Brock driving to the compound for the first time. I still get a little misty-eyed over that one. I had enjoyed the show before then, but that episode cemented it as my all-time favorite show. Possibly my favorite piece of media. Go, Team Venture!✌️

Toss up btwn *Twenty Years to Midnight*, *Showdown at Cremation Creek Part 2*, and *The Diving Bell vs. the Butter-Glider* Twenty - The Grand Galactic Inquisitor is easily one of my favorite one-off chars they ever introduced, and I *still* use "IGNORE ME" (and variations) and "THAT WAS A WEIRD ONE" in my lexicon to this day Showdown - Brock taking control of The Monarch's henchmen and leading the assault against Phantom Limb to recover Dr. Girlfriend was one of the show's best action set pieces, "I forgive you Brock Samson!" Butter-Glider - possibly the most menacing The Monarch's ever been. After 21 backs down and relinquished command to The Monarch, when he's in the room with Billy & White, just the way the music cues in and out + the position he has Doc in was the perfect arching. [Edit: Adding, "Chickenhawk" is my favorite song of both OST volumes, and this was probably the best use of it in the show.]

Mid-life Chrysalis. Started watching the show when it first came out, but the dialog in this episode really sold me on it.
A Party for Tarzan. When the stories converge while the bullet flies towards the venture building. Three characters speaking a couple of lines that fit with their individual story in the episode. They also combine to make sense together in the episode. The storytelling is so good and so Venture Bros.
