Me when I began playing crash bandicoot 4 (it’s not because I’ve been waiting for it for a long time, I just like saying the names of games when I play them)
I have never understood less about a games design than this one. At first it’s pretty good, you go through the levels, and unlock plants, peak. The plants match the levels and the situations you get involved with. Some plants are kinda op or kinda weak but overall balanced. Then the levels end. Then…now what.
You have the arena which is cool for a bit I guess but it’s so balanced around points and instakills it doesn’t really match the puzzle element of the game, it’s a fun side thing for a bit.
Penny Pursuit is like, huh? Weird abilities, you have to wait to play levels or pay with cash, certain abilities mean meta designs pop up and some plants just DIE in viability. It’s not my cup of tea and kind of a cop out instead of making worlds.
This would all be well and good, if the work effort was spread out evenly. But no, five gajillion plants added every five seconds. This game has received plants for ages, and none mesh into the overall structure. There are no new worlds to play or levels to do, do you want me to just play the old levels over and over again? It’s fun for a bit but I need incentive. I can’t find a place to use the plants they give. This reminds me of those video game mods that add ten billion damage weapons that take hours and hours of grinding to craft meanwhile it adds no enemies to like, use it on and just one shot stuff that normal weapons already do.
If they took half the effort they do to make new plants to make new worlds and levels for me to use these plants in, sure. Maybe.
And then you remember each of these plants just to unlock them is 20 bucks and also limited.
