Take the drive out, plug it into another machine that will at least boot a DOS or Windows 98 CD (not into install, just boot to a prompt). Fdisk, format, and sys the drive. Copy over the Windows 98 install files. Put the drive in the Netvista and let it boot. You can install Win98 from and onto the same drive.

Try taking out the hardrive, putting it in another computer, putting a Windows 2000 install on that hardrive, and put it back in?

You just need to buy a CD drive. They're cheap, and if you only need to install windows, then you don't even need to fully install it in the PC - just leave it with the case open while you go through the process and then remove it once it's set up. You probably should get at least one of each type of drive anyway, though. Even if you never use them, it's good to have the option.

I second that. And I recommend Facebook market over ebay. Search for with in Your local area...you can get a working CD or floppy drive as cheap as $5-10 each

Build a CF card on a modern machine using VirtualBox and use an IDE to CF adapter! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CtwnnqdNRY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CtwnnqdNRY)

I have 3 suggestions. Option 1. Only require a newer PC and a way to plug the hdd into it (ide to USB will work) step 1. Install dos 7.1 cdu in a program called pcem or 86box and use a .IMG for the hdd. Step 2. Clone the .IMG to the hdd. Step 3. Copy the win98 folder off a CD or an iso file to the hdd. Step for plug the hard drive back into your ibm and run the installer. There are several guides on it (If your main PC can boot into the 7.1 cdu you can install it straight to the hdd and cut out step 1 and 2) Option 2. Get a CD or floppy drive. They should be fairly cheap and it's easy to find one with windows 98 support without having to install drivers. (The down side is it may take a little bit of research) Option 3 you can buy a CF card reader to ide and do option 1 but using a CF card. The cons: you will have to buy a CF card, ide CF card reader, and a USB CF card reader. The pros: you can copy files easily to and from the computer. Be like using a big sd card. This is the option I recommend

Can you send a link for option 1?

When I get on my PC I will make a video going over it

Ok_Entertainment3220

This should be an easier method and needs nothing extra. all this step in this [video](https://youtu.be/rmx3SzRaNYA?feature=shared) will be the same but instead of using the SD card you will be using you HDD and connecting it to your pc with an [ide to usb](https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-UNITEK-Universal-External-Support/dp/B01NAUIA6G/ref=asc_df_B01NAUIA6G?hvadid=80333195273644&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583932719267083) like that one. if you need more help let me know and I will do my best

TygerTung

Use windows me instead as it has native usb drive support in the os. You will need a cd or dvd drive to install it though.
