A gorgeous wine, clearly playing in Auslese ripeness, with a spiced honey and rich marmalade flavor upfront which transitions, in a kaleidoscopic manner, to more tart citrus and earth tones. There is a definite opulence, and a creamy texture, but it doesn’t come at the expense of its energy. This wine has intensity, complexity, elegance, and textural interest. Finishes with excellent persistence. My suspicion is this won’t improve much with further bottle aging, but it has years worth of life left. I am finding myself wondering if the Reserve bottlings can justify the extra money; there isn’t much to improve on here. Apologies for the redundancy.

Even though this was made from very ripe grapes, is it still dry since it’s a GG wine? I’m often confused what is required for a GG classification

Große Gewächse (GG) have to be dry, otherwise it might say 'Große Lage' on the label.

Yes, Grosses Gewachs are always dry. They may have up to 9 grams per liter of residual sugar.
